Bluetooth Headphones, Skip Buttons on XT1053 - Moto X Q&A

Hello Experts!
I have looked around for a while. I *think* I know the answer, but have a couple queries, I've not been able to find an answer to.
I have a XT1053 - 32GB, First Gen Moto X. Also have a pair of Bose AE2W headphones. I wish I could get it so the skip and pause features would work from the headphones. However, pretty much no matter what buttons I push, it brings up the touchless control - "say call, followed by name/number". I installed the headset controller app, without success.
Do I need to root the phone or unlock the bootloader in order to get this to work? That is sort of the conclusion I've come to. If I am right, what is the difference between rooting and unlocking the bootloader? Does one of these void the warranty and the other not?
Any thoughts would be immensely appreciated. Thanks!

I had a pair of Philips bluetooth headphones with controls on them that worked fine on my XT1060 without doing anything special. It has volume, play/pause, skip and a phone button for answering calls.
Sounds like whatever command the Bose is sending is getting confused with the wrong intent on the phone. Not sure that rooting would help very much.

Jaybird Bluetooth lets me long press to skip tracks out of the box. I am rooted but I don't believe I have anything that requires root.

Motorola's bluetooth headphones skip fine so I'd guess the earlier comment is correct ; your headphones aren't sending the proper commands

It appears that from the Bose manual for those headphones, it is a double tap of the multifunction button to skip track forward. Press and hold the same button to activate voice control. Could it be the double tap is not getting registered correctly? On an older android phone I had problems with double tap on wired headphones. Like I tried to perform it as quickly as a double click of a mouse, but it needed a much slower cadence to register. Just a thought. All bluetooth devices I have connected to my X have dedicated skip buttons that work flawlessly.

motorola buds bluetooth earphones are working correctly.. pause, play, volume, track +/ - etc. I think its long press play for the voice commands.

Problems with Bluetooth Connection on the Tilt

I just got a pair of Jabra BT8010 for my Tilt and was looking forward to enjoying them but they won't play music for me. The Jabra BT8010 has a regular BT headset that works like any other BT set but it also has a cable you can attach and make it into a stereo headset with another ear bud. You press a mode button to turn on the stereo/music function.
However, the music function of the headset is on and I can control the media player but either the sound plays for about 10 seconds and goes out or no sound comes through the headset at all. Jabra & ATT were no help. HTC claimed that phone doesn't work with this BT set because the device must have a dedicated BT music headset. That sounded shady to me so I decided to check several forums and noticed some people use the same model. I've contacted these people but no reply yet. Anyone have advice on what to do for a fix?
I had the same problem at first. Using the menu on the headset itself, I was able to reset it to the factory settings, repair it with my phone, and it worked just fine after that.
Hope that helps you out.

Need some advice with Motorola S9 pairing with P4000

Got a set of Motorola's S9 BT headphones for Xmas. It paired up just fine with with my Titan (P4000). Music playback works great, and the phone responds to the controls on the headset (volume up/down, play/pause, etc.) While stereo playback is great, it doesn't seem to operate at all on a call. It rings when a call comes in, and when I press to answer, all I get is a slight crackle of static with no inbound/outbound audio. The call seems to stay connected, but I'm unsure if there's something wrong with the BT on my phone or if it's a defective headset, since I don't own another BT headset to test it out with.
Are there any known Bluetooth issues with Telus' P4000 with their Windows 6.1 update? Or did I get a bum headset, and should I exchange it?
Thanks in advance!

skullcandy FMJ headphones??

i bought some skullcandy FMJ headphones that have a mic button and pause button for music, it works on my brothers blackberry tour , but for some reason it doesnt work on my xperia x1, is there a app to make these headphones work, or something to get it going, and i know there has plenty of threads about better volume fix for the xperia, but its 2010 now and just wondering witch one is the best so far..... if anyone can help me with these 2 things, i would appreciate it.. thanks
First things first, do the 3.5mm jack bands line up perfectly, in both location and quantity, with those from oem remote?
I'm assuming not, since it seems as if the skullcandy headphones have 2 buttons (namely pause/play, and the call (hangup/pickup) where as the X1 remote only has the call button.
If however, I'm wrong, and the fmj has the same quantity and location for its bands, then you need to do some searching. There was a program released that intercepts the call button and lets you reprogram it to whatever you like. You'd probably want to find that program, and go from there.

Headphones And Mic

Hello,
Although I like my One, the battery and bad camera have to go. Thinking about the G2 but both trips to verizon and att stores left me a bit disappointed. I use Bose In Ear MEI 2 headphones. The One let me use the mic and button on headphones (Jay's Headset Control), however, when using it with the LG mic did not seem supported and even Jays headset control couldn't get the buttons to work for music.
Do you have any experience with these headphones?
Additionally if these don't work are there any headphones that will work letting me speak via mic and use controls for music? I hate taking out the phone everytime I need to change a song.
Thanks!:good:

I just got these today from best Buy Mobile
LG HBS730 Tone+
Now I don't even have to touch my phone. And the battery is lasting from what I see. I might do a full review another time (tons of them on youtube). But ALL features of this headset work including FF and Rewind. Had to take a call with them and the headset vibrated and my caller had no issue with hearing me since they have noise cancellation features.
They said you can connect 2 devices to these things. From reviews, one reviewer had this connected to his phone and his PS3 at the same time. Which is a plus to me so I wouldn't have to disconnect from one device to use it on the other. For music, since I use Viper4Android and the volume boost hack, music sounds great (couldn't tell you from default as I'm not a fan of default volume on Android phones)
But I can testify all controls work and, since both the headset and the G2 are apt-X capable, audio quality is really good (said this earlier I know).
Oh, there is an app that LG makes called BT Reader+ that will read to me any text message or notification I get. Comes in handy when I don't even want to touch my phone to respond to a text right away. Unfortunately, you can't respond unless you use Google Now or Voice command.
I dont understand why your bose wouldn't work. Unless they are designed for the iphone? I have a pair of phonak 122s that have just the single button and they work.

They were designed for the iphone, however they work on my htc one. I originally got them for the iphone.
Looks like it was a bad pair of headphones, my girl stole mine and I used yours, (same ones) one pair worked one didn't, bought the phone can't wait to test it, headphones work nice and proper.

[Q] Disable Bluetooth mic for Moto Voice

In Google Now, there's an option to disable "Bluetooth Headset - Records audio through Bluetooth headset if available". Doing that allows me to trigger Google Now in the car (E92 BMW) where it does not support triggering Bluetooth mic/Call button press pass through. Wondering if there's a way to do that with Moto Voice.
Essentially now, once Bluetooth is paired, Moto Voice routes all audio and mic input to the Bluetooth system. I want it to work like Google Now - output goes to Bluetooth A2DP but input stays with the built in mic.
My buddy has had luck using Moto Hint software with his Nexus 6. Hope it works for you.
Which is Moto Hint? I can't find it on my phone. Only thing I have is "Moto" which controls Voice, Display, Assist and Actions.

The Moto Hint is a Bluetooth earbud.

Yeah, that's not going to be of any help. Car already have Bluetooth handsfree calling. I just need to make Moto Voice listen on phone's built in mic instead of Bluetooth device.
I apologize. The app he uses is hint2search that routes the search button in his console to trigger the OK google hotword. My apologies.

Strange. I don't have the same vehicle but the way mine works is the way you want it to work (i think).
My phone pairs, and all my voice commands work through the phone and outputs through the vehicle speakers over bluetooth. I have been looking for a way to make it work so that if i hit my bluetooth button, i can dictate a command over bluetooth. With the hint2search app i can do it, but it can be unreliable and the output is super quiet for some reason.
this probably doesn't help much but at least this will bump this thread.

Yeah, that's how it works when the car's system is capable of passing through bluetooth commands. Older first gen bluetooth systems don't have that capability
so my question is, why would you want to speak through he phones mic rather than over bluetooth? For the always listening stuff?
