5.0.1 stock ROM for vs980 (Korean base) - Verizon LG G2

I've tested it and I'm running it now and it works great. Use KitKat baseband and boot loader and latest twrp before flashing.
(I edited this post because it first I was asking if anyone tried it but I've tried it myself now and it works)

I've tested the ROM myself and it's running great on my vs980. Very fast and smooth. Doesn't have all the same g3 goodies like dual window and 4k/slowmo video but xcam does work on it so it takes care of that part. I'm really liking it so far and can't wait to see what can be done with other Roms now that there's one working already
Sent from my VS980 4G

I have been using this for about 12 hours now and so far so good. I am on the 27a bootstack and did not have any issues flashing this ROM. Ironically I have tried every function but actually making a phone call. The only app that would not work for me was QuickBoot so I switched over to BootDroid. The other quirk I noticed is that it states T-CDMA 64 instead Verizon Wireless at the bottom of the notification screen.

hi guys, noob here. I am on vs980 stock 4.4.2 on 26A baseband and twrp 2.8.3.1. As I am already on KitKat baseband, can I flash this rom? And to revert back to stock can I just flash the backed up rom from recovery?? Thanks.

Does this ROM have any MMS or roaming issues?

Hows battery life?

I'm helping a friend out with his phone (a VZW LG G2), and I was just curious why no one posted this over in the Android Development section? Would have expected to see a thread there for all the QnA and possibly any issues related to running it on a VS980. I'm going to help him flash this tomorrow, I will report back with our findings.

I'd HIGHLY recommend against this. This is no normal ROM, it replaces boot partitions with custom modified ones for the korean g2. If you know everything about what's up with the bootloader exploits, bump vs loki and the ROM then it's ok but for someone else.... Seriously, highly recommend against it. I know vs980 ota won't come soon (if ever) but the d802 update is just around the corner and then we'll have normal ROMs to flash for stock lollipop.

Yes. It always drop signal from 4G to roaming. It cannot be fixed by installing the radio pack (24A or 27A).
Can anyone help?

[REQUEST] Sprint ROMs???

I can't find a single Sprint ROM in this forum except stock...
Verizon even uses CDMA and their bootloader I thought was more difficult to unlock as well..
I'm sitting here all rooted and bootloader unlocked on Sprint and can't flash anything except stock.
Any reason why/any devs working on Sprint ROMs?
Or are there any Sprint ROMs that I've just missed/are there any compatible (they all say VZW/GSM)?
-If not, please consider this a formal request :cyclops:
Thanks in advance!
***If there are any that are currently compatible please reply/list here for myself and others

Have you tried a Verizon rom on Sprint? I am sure a few things need tweaked but might be something to look at..
I've asked the same about US Cellular...it's just that no developer has surfaced on those carriers much for some reason... :what: (at least sprints still got more Dev going on then US Cellular) I'm unlocked as well. (Seems for no reason, though root is nice)

I have not because all of the ROMs say GSM variants or name Verizon specifically, as well as asking a few other sprint xda users and they all say the same thing- "I don't think there are any for Sprint right now except stock."
If you are recommending this, can you name one that would be the safest bet?
Thanks

Which ROM? Just to make you feel better, all the custom ROMs are not daily drivers cm11 has camera, sound and some her minor issues, gummy ROM has the same issues, so the stock ROM is by far the best ROM and xposed only makes it that much better

Honestly this phone is a stock style phone. If you want a more mods try using the Xposed framework and modules if you haven't already. Look for the Gravity box module and install. It allows for modification to your lockscreen, nav bar, status bar, reboot menu, quick tiles, clock, battery mods, pie controls, etc. I went back to stock rooted on my Nexus 7 as well because of Xposed much better experience than running cm or other variants. Hope this helps your phone experience. I included a link to the thread

Out of curiosity I had tried one of the stock modded Verizon roms. To be honest I really don't see the need so much for a custom ROM on this phone either, especially with xposed, however the one thing I would like to see is a good custom kernel or two. I would like to try some CPU and GPU overclocking just to see what kind of results we could get.
Sent from my XT1056 using Tapatalk
I agree with the post above I just picked this phone up yesterday rooted installed exposed and use gravity box for all my customizing and V4A works so I'm happy. A custom kernel would be nice with faux sound just to give the headset a slight boost when listening to music on headphones the speaker sounds just as good as the Htc one so called boom sound
Sent from my XT1056 using Tapatalk
After installing xposed frame work and gravity box don't see any need for custom ROM. Kind of reminds me of MOAR ROM on GS3.

Yea theme chooser would be nice but with 4.4 and the faded nav bar and status bar is pretty sweet though

I could probably live without Theme Chooser thanks to the Closed Framework. But I'd kill for some inverted 4.4 gapps. It does kinda suck not having some Sprint ROMs to flash and try out, though.

Same question. AFAIK you have to flash earlier version and then update to 2.7 in recovery using a zip.

FWIW, if you already have a recovery installed you should be able to flash the .zip of 2.7 through flashify. This would have the same net effect of flashing your new recovery .zip from your current recovery(2.6). The benefit being the ease of downloading and flashing through the app rather than doing it manually.

Thanks! I thought that was the case for updating from 2.6 - 2.7. I don't have a custom recovery at the moment. I went back to 11a, took the 12b OTA, rooted, and was planning to install twrp 2.6.3.3 through adb via Loki (followed by updating to 2.7). However, it sounds like I can skip right to 2.7 via flashify...?

I've been doing a search on this every day it seems. I saw a couple of posts out on the interwebs today that people are able to upgrade using the software upgrade assistant. I'll be trying this when I get home from work once I flash it back to stock. OTA should start in a day or two, I would think.
I'm pretty sure this is a full install that will wipe your phone, it's coming in around 2GB. Looking forward to finding out if it's exactly the same as the 24A leak we've had awhile now.

It's easy, just follow the directions in that post.
This would be the OTA out of the box rom from Verizon so it would have all the bloat and stuff in it I'd assume. The big question would be is this source exactly the same as the leaked 24A KK rom. If it is there's no point in re-flashing it if you're running 24A already.

Just curious if this update wipes phone. Based on size I would think so.
Also, I changed my connection off of USB - Internet Connection (which update set) after download started and it seemed to download faster. Maybe it was using phone for download at first?

I updated through Verizon tool earlier today. It downloaded the full 2GB file and proceeded to update on top of my stock setup. It did not wipe or remove any data. Up and running without issue. Minor tweaks over all but makes a great phone better than it already was. Works for me...

My Experience
Stock Un rooted. The Download through VZW tool tool 4-5 hours. I let it run overnight with Phone plugged into USB and woke up to a phone stuck in the update process. I tried several things and nothing worked. Finally I downloaded the LG Mobile Support Tool. Once that download the updated, which BTW was a 1000 times faster than the VZW tool, it pushed the update and that worked.
It did not wipe my phone. I have all my data and am up and running on 4.4.2 fine!
I want to use one click twrp but to bad adb did not recoqnize my phone, i unplug and re plug my phone and there it was software upgrade asisstant, updgrade was quick but when it comes to 90% its freez. I left it for 15 minutes and its done. All apps still there but i have no root and i think there are installing new application. Btw i lived in indonesia

How did you get the LG Mobile Support Tool to work? It always tells me my serial number is blah blah blah.

I don't know. It just worked. Updated the drivers through the tool and then the update downloaded and installed.

I just got the OTA!
OTA is live in NJ!
I updated mine last night. Pretty happy with what I've seen so far. Specifically I'm getting better coverage in the building I work in, and I finally get to use the tap to pay with Google Wallet! The new white icons are a little weird to see though. So used to them being blue.

[Q] Simple Question

I'm supposed to pick up an LG G2 today.
I'm coming from a Galaxy S3.
Anyways, is there a way to unlock the bootloader?
I'm a sucker for AOSP ROMs.

Nope. But the great devs here have found a way around that.

User ioroot25 or toweroot to root it, Autorec to install a recovery, have fun.

OK - I'm actually in the exact same situation as RBarnett09 - my Samsung GS3 just died - and I'm researching my replacement options. If I get a new LG G2 and it's already got vzw's "latest & greatest" firmware, I can still get root and/or unlock it to the point that I can I run CM11?
With the vzw GS3, the last couple of vzw OTAs locked things down too tight for AOSP (I avoided that crap but my hardware finally died).
Anyway, I just viewed a thread in the LG G2 dev section about setting up to run an LG 4.4.2 kernel binary on an unofficial CM11 build, but it doesn't say explicitly whether or not you're SOL if your phone is "current" from VZW's point of view. I gather that the factory KitKat release from LG is close enough to AOSP that the kernel will support custom (AOSP-based) ROMs (is that it?).
Are we better off finding a used LG G2, and if so, what version and date of firmware sucks the least? Thanks.

Latest firmware is 24A - KitKat, it can be rooted and recovery installed using the method posted. Most of the AOSP roms work with that firmware and contain working kernels. A couple still only work with the JB firmware.

Just confirming that I used towelroot to successfully gain root and also successfully flashed TWRP custom recovery via autorec.
Pretty sweet gaining a full permanent root without even hooking my device up to a computer. Not to mention that no data was deleted.
Thanks guys.

My sd shows no files, after i downloaded them. Is there anything to do to fix this? i moved them with es file explorer to... i have also installed cwm through rom manager, and when i press the reboot to recovery, it goes to the 3e recovery.... is this what's supposed to happen? in any case, i would be happy if someone can help me solve this

I followed the op instructions and installed using twrp. So I can't really say for sure if it has anything to do with cwm, but I'm not having this problem.

If you guys are talking about the sdcard setting in app manager it won't show anything since the G2 doesn't have a external storage. Unless you have a On The Go cable attached with a thumb drive it will be always blank. Thanks.

Light Material
Is it possible to get a build or patch that does not include Dark Material? I don't mind dark except in the dialer where it just doesn't look good to me.
Otherwise this is a fantastic ROM! Very fast and smooth and no issues I've noticed yet.

hi i really thank you for this incredible rom, its amazing, i have one question. since i was on 24a before the update, and as you said to use 12b radio, do i stay on that one? or do i use the 24a radio?. thanks in advance.
Is anyone else getting random "static" on their screen? Every now and then some or all of the screen flashes with static and then it goes away. Doesn't seem to be any correlation with what I'm doing at the time. Not using any apps that I don't normally use.
You must have the 12B radio installed. Later versions will result in a boot loop.

Sounds like you may need to nuke and repave your System... Or you flashed a kernel that isnt quite compatible with this Rom.

If you flash any other radios beside 12b you will bootloop and it will not recover from that state until the proper radios get applied....

What I have to do now?
Im currently using ParanoidAndroid beta 5, son I have 4.4.4 and 26a bootstack.
Do I have to flash 12a bootstack or something else before to get this ROM to work? Does it have any known bugs?
Thanks
All is needed is 12b radios as stated in the OP.. Guys please read the OP before asking "What do I need to do before installing this". I put it together for a simple installation. Also for any bugs read through the tread.

Is the 12b radio better, just curious why the downgrade to 12b from 26a. Also can i use the 12b modem on the 26a bootstack?

I haven't noticed any difference in signal between the two. Yes, flash rom, gapps, and 12b modem.

After flashing this rom
First of all: Great Job bringing Lollipop to VZW G2.
After some time using it I've seen some bugs.
1. In the Phone app, when you search for a name on the upper bar it force close if you tap the name to call it.
2. NFC not working
3. When I change for LTE to 3G or 1x it loses all the signal and data. Its only working with LTE (and yes I flashed 12b)
Please, I will appreciate your help guys. Thanks a lot.

The search in phone app has already been address, read the OP for work around.. As far as NFC, it hasn't worked since the start so its a feature I am working on at the moment. As far as loosing data when switching. Make sure that the data roaming switch is turned On when manually selecting Networks. You can leave it on Global and turn Data Roaming Off and no issues switching between the Networks.
Thanks.

So I've been running the 1-9 build for a couple of days now. I've only had 1 random reboot. Today I went a full 24 hours on 1 charge with 18% remaining, 2.5 hours of screen on time and 5 or 6 phone calls {average day for me). Great ROM if you are thinking about trying it out.
