I've been doing a search on this every day it seems. I saw a couple of posts out on the interwebs today that people are able to upgrade using the software upgrade assistant. I'll be trying this when I get home from work once I flash it back to stock. OTA should start in a day or two, I would think.
I'm pretty sure this is a full install that will wipe your phone, it's coming in around 2GB. Looking forward to finding out if it's exactly the same as the 24A leak we've had awhile now.

How risky is flashing back to stock. Only had this phone for like 2weeks and I don't need a paper weight. Also anyone know if it's different from the debloated prerooted Kit Kat found here?

It's easy, just follow the directions in that post.
This would be the OTA out of the box rom from Verizon so it would have all the bloat and stuff in it I'd assume. The big question would be is this source exactly the same as the leaked 24A KK rom. If it is there's no point in re-flashing it if you're running 24A already.
Would love a report if us unlimited peps can use the mobile hot spot fix for 12b on a rooted lg vzw980 with this new update using the VZW upgrade assistant . My phone is rooted only no rom and the hot spot provision fix.

Will this update wipe phone?
Just curious if this update wipes phone. Based on size I would think so.
Also, I changed my connection off of USB - Internet Connection (which update set) after download started and it seemed to download faster. Maybe it was using phone for download at first?

I updated through Verizon tool earlier today. It downloaded the full 2GB file and proceeded to update on top of my stock setup. It did not wipe or remove any data. Up and running without issue. Minor tweaks over all but makes a great phone better than it already was. Works for me...

Stock Un rooted. The Download through VZW tool tool 4-5 hours. I let it run overnight with Phone plugged into USB and woke up to a phone stuck in the update process. I tried several things and nothing worked. Finally I downloaded the LG Mobile Support Tool. Once that download the updated, which BTW was a 1000 times faster than the VZW tool, it pushed the update and that worked.
It did not wipe my phone. I have all my data and am up and running on 4.4.2 fine!
I want to use one click twrp but to bad adb did not recoqnize my phone, i unplug and re plug my phone and there it was software upgrade asisstant, updgrade was quick but when it comes to 90% its freez. I left it for 15 minutes and its done. All apps still there but i have no root and i think there are installing new application. Btw i lived in indonesia

I just got the OTA!
OTA is live in NJ!
I updated mine last night. Pretty happy with what I've seen so far. Specifically I'm getting better coverage in the building I work in, and I finally get to use the tap to pay with Google Wallet! The new white icons are a little weird to see though. So used to them being blue.

So I had Jelly Bean on my N7 from factory. I decided to root it, and I used the toolkit to root it.
It reverted it to 4.1 and deleted everything (basically a stock flash) which was irritating, but I got it all set back up.
Just got a pop up to update it to 4.2.
What should I do?
If 4.1 is better, how do I make the pop up to update go away.
If 4.2 is better, will I maintain root through the update? If no, how can I, or reroot.
If 4.1 is better is kind of personal choice, most like the 4.2 update, some hate.
Technically it's better because it comes with new features but it also nixes a few like tablet UI and some of the new functions are still a bit buggy (esp. multiuser related things).
Not sure you can get rid of the update dialog permanentely.
If you just let the update go it's course you'll loose root - but that's not a problem, as you can simply re-root after the update.

HI all, this thread answered most of the questions i had but one,
when i unlocked/rooted 4.1 i installed twrp then updated twrp with goomanager app ....now seeing as im on the newest twrp recovery i wont have any bootloops or anything when i click up update right?
anyone?
bump*
Bootloops have nothing to do with the recovery, they are usually caused by incompatible system data from a different ROM.
Since you'll be updating the "same ROM" to a newer version (stock 4.1.x to 4.2, if I go you right) everything should be fine.

This is what I know. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The N7 gets a reset when you unlock the bootloader, not by rooting (flashing su.zip) or flashing a custom recovery.. This is supposed to be a "security feature" by Google.
The S3 comes with an already open bootloader. Furthermore other vendors might not have included this "security feature" in their phones/tablets.
I did the OTA update to 4.2 and did not lose root. Prior to update I was on stock 4.1 with Trinity kernel and rooted using nexus toolkit and CWMR. Only thing I had to do was flash back to stock 4.1 kernel as the OTA failed with Trinity, then using CWMR installed the update that was sat in the cache. At the end of flashing the update CWMR warned me that the ROM I was installing wanted to use its own recovery, click no to keep CWMR, then it warned that root may be lost, click yes to keep root.
No other apps needed and I'm now on stock 4.2 with root access. Only thing in have lost is my tablet interface from build prop tweaks. Once I find a way round that happy days!

Update to Build 4.08.605.19 Published on February 1st, 2013 Written by: Kellex DroidLife.com
The original DROID Incredible by HTC, a device released almost three years ago, is set to receive its next OTA update. The update is minor to build 4.08.605.19, and simply includes a fix to reduce reboots, but man, how random is that?
We didn’t think anything could top the randomness of the Thunderbolt Ice Cream Sandwich update that popped up yesterday through Big Red’s support site, however, it’s safe to say that this just topped it.
The update is 4.2MB in size.

Well considering the extreme annoyance caused by the 2am reboot thing that was introduced with the last OTA, this update was long overdue. Hey, an update to ICS would be truly awesome but it would be a bit bigger than 4.2Mb I dare say (and would involve a whole lot more time and money to develop, something that would be very majorly hugely unlikely for a three year old device like this).

Verizons excuse is they didn't want to have to repartition the internal storage which would be required to fit ICS and all their bloat.

Oh ya. I kinda figured it would be some stupid HW limitation preventing us from seeing official ICS but bloatware is the worst excuse ever.

Cm 10.1 doesn't even fit well on the inc without some tweaking. There's no way a sense ICS will fit on 250mb when AOSP is smaller than sense. Do you remember how the sense build that I worked on with puremotive needed symlinks to fit and that's the lighter version of sense?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Coincidentally, I was thinking of sending my old Incredible back to stock in order to attempt maximizing its stability, because I'm giving it to my kid as a games platform for travel, etc.
The phone is no longer registered on Verizon's network, so I'm guessing that means I would not get access to an OTA update if I placed the 4.08.605.15 RUU on this phone - correct?

Yes the update is now active. I saved it if anyone wants to root it and or check it out. I have not installed it.
I have the stock ROM.. I got prompted to update an hour ago.. it went through fine. I was hoping it would fix the proximity sensor bug which drains the battery (dialer process in battery view). Haven't checked whether it was fixed yet, but I doubt it.
FYI, I'm using the phone through Page Plus.. which relies on Verizon's network. I never expected to see an update for this phone..

Hi,
I tried searching but the search here on XDA isn't working well for me, don't know why but I can only search once, after that the search box become un-clickable and I need to browse back and forward again to use the search again, did that a few times with no results.
Anyway, what I wanted to know is what is the exact newest Official Firmware version for the Galaxy S3 Mini I8190 (Regular, no letter after it)
my current version is I8190XXAME1, is there a newer version available? I'm having all sorts of strange problems and hoping a newer version exists that will solve them.
Thank you.
I assume I8190XXAMG4 is newer than I8190XXAME1, right?
That's the only thing I managed to find that looks newer, the firmware file is certainly from a newer date.

A couple of day ago my phone froze, had to remove the battery to release the freeze, since then, my display language, which was Hebrew disappeared from the language selection list and even apps like morelocale 2 didn't work, only temporarily until the next restart of the phone.
After the upgrade the Hebrew returned to the list of languages as normal.
Also, lately touchwiz seems to crash a lot, didn't have it yet since the upgrade to the new version.
Ahh OK. My wife and my friends phone both have apparently common issues where the battery gets drained quicker then it should. I'm currently reviewing custom ROMs for my friends phone, not that many on this phone.

Oh yeah, that makes sense since the alphas betas and nightlies are pretty unstable - well then they make RCs and Stable versions which you can get with only benefits, but hey an opinion's an opinion, can't fight it.
I've tested it and I'm running it now and it works great. Use KitKat baseband and boot loader and latest twrp before flashing.

Ironically I have tried every function but actually making a phone call. The only app that would not work for me was QuickBoot so I switched over to BootDroid. The other quirk I noticed is that it states T-CDMA 64 instead Verizon Wireless at the bottom of the notification screen.

I'd HIGHLY recommend against this. This is no normal ROM, it replaces boot partitions with custom modified ones for the korean g2. If you know everything about what's up with the bootloader exploits, bump vs loki and the ROM then it's ok but for someone else.... Seriously, highly recommend against it. I know vs980 ota won't come soon (if ever) but the d802 update is just around the corner and then we'll have normal ROMs to flash for stock lollipop.

I just noticed this is for OE build, I am still on OC, never updated. So I was too quick to flash and made the noob mistake of not reading thouroughly!!!! Could that be why I'm boot looping?

Yeah, that could be it!
The signatures in the files dont match.
Take the OTA since your going to Odin back anyways. This OE2 OTA is safe.
I was just about to re-flash everything on my Verizon phone to see what was up but this just saved me a lot of time.
Was waiting for this. Flashed, tested, and confirmed working. Thanks! :good:

Your Welcome!
I originally thought this was going to be built into CleanROM 1.1, but found out that it wasn't. I flashed this tether hack with FlashFire Free v0.18 (released on May 2, 2015) into CleanROM 1.1 and it works with my AT&T unlimited data plan. I wasn't going to go backwards with my Galaxy S6 when Nexus 5 I previously had was allowing me to tether freely. Tested and thanks, it works. =]
Will this mod work on the tmobile Gs6? Thanks In advance!!!
Sent from my SM-G925T using XDA Free mobile app
Worked on the first try on my stock rooted OTA OE2.
Thank you.
Any chance of you getting this to work with the edge?
Note 3
Will this work for note 3?

Just ran the file using fireflash on my edge and it work. Running OE2 Build Cleanrom 1.0 for the S6 Edge
Thnak you so much for this valuable contribution to our community!!
One weird thing I've noticed with this.... On your Rom, CleanRom, when I leave the initial wifi my phone was set up with and try to add another wifi (at work for example), the wifi tab under settings is blank. I've gone back and forth between roms, and oddly enough, the deodexed roms floating around don't have this problem. There is a quick work around in the appstore, wifi manager, that when opened shows the available networks and allows you to connect to them, so it's no big deal. Since I'm back on CleanRom, and it happened again, I thought I'd mention it.
Fantastic!!! Love it...using it on my ATT S6 Edge now!
just flashed this on ATT s6 EDGE on stock rom, it works !
