I don't know about Lightflow since I don't use it, but the other wakelock is because of location. Google has not yet figured out how to use location services without it checking something every couple seconds. I wold just turn location off altogether. Or at the very least you can go into wifi settings > advanced > uncheck always scanning, and then go to the google settings app > Google location reporting and turn those off.
I will disable location all together and will answer if it helped me. Thanks bro!

Its not about fanboys. Its about people coming in here from other devices thinking they're posting some sort of revelation. Fact is no one here even posted any context shots, background info or anything useful - including myself. Do I think I could get 8 hours? Yeah probably. Do I care? No.
Trolls stop hijacking a thread about someone who has an actual issue to try and prove your "manhood" with your battery screenshots.

i can as well, depending how i want to use my n6. and ive hit 9 hours, watching movies. but mostly with the way i use my n6, i see between 5.5-7 hours sot daily. anyways, this nexus 6 thread, is in a nexus 6 section, of the nexus 6 xda site. note 4 users just popping in to claim that they have better batteries are just trolling, if not childish.
i wont hurt your feelings anymore ..guess im not entirely sure where your confusion is coming from or what you find potentially trollish about that..i dont even have the energy to waste my time trying to desensitize your ignorance..do what you think is right and to hell with your popularity
for those note 4 users, i just posted a screenshot in the note 4 benchmark thread.. i dont really care about battery life, since anything above 5 hour sot is unimportant to me, because ill never use it in a full day. but it is important to me how my nexus 6 performs, do you think your device can compare? lol http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58722333&postcount=14

I would say, post the SCREEN ON TIME, as well as the STAND BY TIME ... Both are important.
Also, some bits of info how did you use the device and general settings (auto-brightness, GPS on/off, WiFi? 3G?) ...
Otherwise, it won't matter ... I can have 6-7 hours screen on time on my GNex for doing nothing ...
Push this thread! We need the answers with screenshots from the ones who already got a final device! This is much better then all the reviews.

Yeah something wrong there.. that's about 1/3 of what my GNex does, and common wisdom is the battery life on that is poor.

Yeah the Wi-Fi bar on my Nexus 4 is solid across the entire history graph as well. Now I don't remember what that's supposed to look like. I leave wifi turned on all the time, even if i'm not connected to a network. Is that why? Or does it normally only show when you're actually connected to a network?
I'm currently at 6h 5m, 68%, 50m screen on time.

Having WiFi turn off when the screen is off is worst for the battery. The phone will just switch to 3G when it needs data.
Sorry op but this will not get anyone anywhere.
You need to set up rules. Screen on time can be determined by MANY, MANY factors
First of all it would be good to make a screenshot of the battery inventory. For instance
Out of 100% how much % was dedicated to the browser or what else other program
I would really reocmmend downloading gsam battery stats and making a screenshot within the app. It lists a lot of things,
I bet you this phone can do 8 hours of screen on time if not longer, how? Just leave the screen open the whole time and do nothing. So while one might get 8 hours and the other 2 - we will never know under what circumstances thus this thread being useless.
Right now we only have a screenshot of the phone's screen on time ONLY. Useless. I've experienced that telephone calls drain more battery than the screen itself or uses up to at least as much.
really? i barely used the phone. everyone is turned off except wifi and i did not even use the the browser. this can't be real. only that much time and it's almost halfway dead and i barely used it. i know there have been battery threads before but man... how can it be this horrible. btw juice defender don't do crap, i've had it for the today and yesterday, was crap so i uninstalled. had brightness are low as i can without making me squint.

I've had relatively poor battery life as well... I went 12 hours with a recharge from 10 to 50% again before it completely drained...
I'm not impressed with the battery on this phone but everything else has been great.
... I'm starting to think I'll have to make my own Qi Charger for pant pockets... embed it in your pocket so whenever the phone is there it's charging. I'm seriously considering trying this to see if it's possible... if so, i'm doing it for sure. Or a carrying case with an extra battery and a Qi Charger... or a Qi charger dock for the car... you get the idea. Wireless charging shouldn't be the fix for poor battery life, but it definitely could help it.

Task managers mess around with Android's memory management and it is fairly well known that they usually end up draining more battery than they save. Try getting rid of it.
Also other people are reporting that the battery life gets better after a few days of using. Is yours really new? Im not sure how true that is btw.
Probably a combination of that task killer and a wake lock.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Install Franco's kernel. Battery life has been outstanding (1 Gmail account sync, 1 Exchange account sync, maybe 30 minutes of calls and 100+ texts a day; I have location services & Google Now enabled as well). I average 3+ hours screen on time and I normally end the day around 30% ...
I would stay away from task managers ... it's not that I know what's going on more than you or anyone else, but well established and respected kernel developers recommend against it. If these guys don't know then I honestly don't know who else does ...

Yep...20-30 minutes won't tell the tale. I'd also recommend Brightness Toggle widget...allows a few extra steps (16 total, IIRC) of brightness control over stock, to fine tune screen brightness, often another culprit.

I had it for three days. The battery life is not as good as I expect. The review says it last 2 days.
The first day I activated the phone in the morning. Did a lot of installation using LTE. It lasted till toward the evening (10%).
The second day I did several more installation over WiFi. But other than that, not a lot of usage. No video, no game. By early evening, it's down to 10%.
Today, a few installation over WiFi, no playing time. Two online purchase (click and buy, no shopping around). By 3 PM, it's down to 33%. I then used Google Maps for navigation for 25 min and it brought the battery down to 13%. The breakdown show screen at 50%, Android OS at 20%.
Another I noticed it runs quite warm. Not really hot but warmer than my skin.
Is this normal?

This is great to hear. On my 4th cycle and battery is still "mediocre" (much better than my S2). Currently 10.5 hours off charger, 1 hour 45 minutes screen on time and 42% battery. Android OS is crushing me for some reason. Screen brightness is also at 0%-10%
Signal strength is crap though, constantly yellow on my battery history...

I suffer from poor battery life on my SGS3 on occasion. I've rooted, run Gsam & greenify and have concluded that 80+% of my problem comes from poor signal strength. If I get in an area with no coverage like inside many buildings, it sucks the battery like crazy.

Must be something like 10-20 minutes, lol.
Regarding "always scanning", I dont think it's something that uses alot of battery. Probably even more battery friendly than other "location" services. Just because it labels WiFi as always on, doesnt mean it uses as much battery as actually being connected to a network. Personally, I don't care for all this location nonsense so it's obviously off. Regarding the location-based wifi, it's only smart if you don't know how to toggle WiFi when leaving your house, etc.

Now, that is some crazy ass battery life, but, I wonder how long does the screen been turned on? Then I'll get a clearer understanding of it ,if you don't mind .

No probs Bloodsucker !... Screen on 13% of 34 hours = 4.5 hours..This is my everyday day phone.I would consider myself to be a light-medium user , I dont play games used for voice calls ( 5-10 calls), text messages, used as a time piece (checked every 1/2 hour or so), 2 weather apps constantly updating as I move around a lot, GPS always on , bluetooth always on, maybe 1-3 youtube vids a day..screen turns of after 1 mins inactivity...
Running existenz 1.5.5 dark edition on a locked bootloader.. using Next launcher 3D and a live wallpaper...
hope that helps ..

The phone maxes around 5-6, MAYBE 7 (I've never come near that though), hours of screen on time in total.
The 13% means that 13% of the battery used going from 100% to 72% was from the screen.
Tap "screen" in the list of battery usage and it will tell you how long it has been on.
This one's mine... ca. 70% brightness:

Thank you sir for the explanation... I thought it couldn`t be right!
I was super busy today so I barely looked at my phone so I was expecting my battery life to be in the high 80s but when I looked at it, it was at 31%... with only 28 minutes of screen on time...
By percentage the biggest drainers are Google+ (13%) - which I do not even use... -, Standby (10%) and Screen (6%).
I'm rooted on Pure Shamu with Elemental Kernel (for RGB control, no other mods with the kernel), if that matters. I can't think of anything I've enabled that would kill the battery so hard.
Sounds like a wakelock in either the ROM or kernel to me.
I'm having a similar issue with Lean Kernel.

Yeah, Google+ had almost 9 hours of wake time and 2 hours of CPU time. I have no idea why, I don't even use Google+ and I have location services and photo backups disabled.
I've completely deleted the Google+ profile though and I've disabled account syncing for everything other than Gmail. I'll see if that makes any change tomorrow.

Yup. Wakelock.
Fwiw G+ plays fine on my device and doesn't nuke the battery

Delete Google+ , I've had the same issue on a note 4 aswell.
if you're not using G+ why not disabled it.

How do you disable it, it is not listed as an app.
Or uninstall the app. No point in having the app installed but disabling it, it'll take more space.
This is why I prefer minimal gapps, Google includes so much bloat ware.
I also recommend using app ops to deny access for keep awake on play services. It'll help with standby battery significantly.

i found this foe google play services last night, so i disabled iys background data use. i dont remember being allowed to do that for google play services. which i also assume will keep it from waking the device when its sleeping(since data is not allowed).
anyways, to the op, do you have photos uploading to the cloud? if so, disable that service, thats what uses the g+ app when you dont use it.

No I had photo uploading disabled. But I disabled Google+ all together before I plugged it in for the night and I'm having much better results. I've only had about 9% of battery drain with mostly standby and some light browsing before I got out of bed this morning (I've been stuck at my computer all day so I haven't needed to use my phone much). Much, much better than the 70% drain I got yesterday from the same.
Since uninstalling isn't a default option in app setting for G+ I imagine I'd need to download something with super user access to do so? Any recommendations?
I am getting killed by the Google Play Services. It was fine till yesterday. Suddenly from today it starts drinking battery!
This is a cool phone. Google has released new software (lollipop). But it just really sucks that a phone with such a beautiful ui and really cool features is such a mess. And yes this os is a mess. Most of us are disabling features such as ambient display, google apps, location etc.. just to be able to last anywhere from half a day to a day. Really depends on how much a person has had their screen awake and how much is disabled to attempt to make it through a day. The battery is just not large enough for the 4k display. If everything were operating correctly I would feel like I'd spent my money as well as I ever had on a mobile device. What is the value of having a 2.7ghz processor if we have to under clock it? I'd like to use the speed of the processor but I slow it down also as I am fighting for battery life as much as I can. Today is the first time I've used battery saver and my experience is that it helps tremendously on my phone personally. But it also ruins many of the reasons I bought the phone. I like the animations of lollipop. I've always reduced animations to .5 through developer settings. I hope Google is seriously trying to iron this out. It's a big deal that all of us are fighting for battery life and Google apps gone wild are hurting many of us. As far as I can see my opinion is this os is a great concept but needs much work to be considered anywhere near as efficient as KitKat was. But the real question after all I've said is Have any of us that purchased a nexus phone never had to fight for battery life? We knew what we were getting into when we bought a nexus. Things will get better. I just wonder when and if this screen will ever be controllable with IMO such a small battery for such a large 4k display. Enjoy your nexus'. I am the best I can fighting for battery life.

Just to be clear, its not a 4k display and I'm averaging 4.5-5 hrs screen on time without disabling anything
