[Lollipop] Alarm not working - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
I'm on Ivan's AOSP Lollipop and it works great! It's stable and good for everyday use, I haven't found many bugs except the alarm not working and not ringing.
Since I use my phone to wake up every morning that's an important issue. I tried to install Timely from playstore and other alarm APPs but they don't work. They just ring if I use the phone a little bit before the alarm, but it seems like if the phone isn't used for awhile the alarm won't ring and it will just when I'll use the phone again.
Someone knows what's the problem and how to solve it?
Thanks

I've got the same problem with you. The alarm doesn't ring unless the phone is used a while before the alarm. So I flashed back Ivan's KitKat.

Hi,
If you really want to stay with Lollipop, I would suggest you to try M1cha's CM12, it seems that there no issue at all with alarm with this ROM. BUT, be aware that this ROM is still under testing and not completely stable.
If you really want something stable and tested, then go with CM11, Ivan's AOSP Kitkat,or even sMiui if you prefer the Miui interface.

Actually I'm now on M1cha's unofficial CM12(20150218) and stuned by its incredible stability. So nice. Everything works just fine.
BTW I PMed Ivan in Chinese MIUI forum, but it seems that he won't sustain his MI2 lollipop work. Lots of guys in mi2 forum are saying good bye to him, Whatever. Thanks for his brilliant work.

Thanks for your help and suggestion! I tried m1cha's cm12 but I didn't have the same opinion of you guys. It wasn't stable and I found a lot of problems that weren't on Ivan's ROM.

I use Ivan's build since december. no bugs on alarm clock found, my phone wakes me up every morning [but alarm clock doesn't work if phone's shut down].
the only bugs I've found are:
- no wireless tethering [other devices connects to the phone, but internet is unavaiable]
- bluetooth stack is fragile
Ivan's work is extremely precious
p.s.:
xposed is working flawlessly on AOSP, but cannot make it work on CM12.

[Q] Most stable, bug free 4.2.2 rom?

As of right now there are many roms being worked on. I'm currently running AOSPizza which is fast and stable.
My question is, what 4.2.2. rom seems the to the most stable and bug free? (Working data, camera+camcorder, GPS, etc.)
It is very hard to keep track when the roms are constantly being updated.
Thanks in advance!

They all run differently for different people. Not sure why. Might be Gapps, previous fastbooted stock rom, or *insert reason here*. You just have to try them all and see what you like. PAC, Carbon, and CM10.1 are updated daily, so they can differ from one release to the next....so my best advice is to pick one you like the features of and stay with it, find a stable-for-you version, and try the nightlies with a nandroid on hand if you need it.
I've tried a few, and I am back on stock now. All of the 4.2.2 roms have bugs that I can't live with (battery and bluetooth.)
I have heard there are some worth keeping, but for me it is too much work to keep flashing roms all the time.

Is there any reason besides bluetooth audio that you choose stock over one of the 4.1 roms?

4.2.2 battery life can be bad. I'm down to 79% with minimal use (checked 3 emails) flashed a rom, been off charger for 9 hours now. One of the biggest battery leeches is Maps -- Yesterday it had 779 wakelock interrupts in a 6 hour period -- means it took my phone out of deep sleep for a second over 100 times every hour. Greenify seems to be helping but I need to do more testing with it. Oh, and disabled Greenify for Maps and had 37 wakelock interrupts in 14 minutes....Sometimes I wonder if its not Maps but the Google Now weather panel making Maps do GPS calls for updated location info for weather. My battery wasn't near as bad till I started using the Now widget over cLock weather panel.

The pizza rom was great, but didn't allow me to use Google Voice as my voicemail.
The Mexico rom was okay, but it was missing something that i needed.
I quit flashing, it is too much hassle to set up everything.

[Q] Droppings calls. Lots. Argh.

Hello!
I'm running Beanstalk 4.4 and the latest Meeow kernel. My phone works well (mostly) and has great battery life. It also drops calls ALL the time. Like all the time between 5s and 2mins.
I also have a problem whereby the screen is kinda screwed for touch. Like a touch is already registered and stuck on rendering the phone useless until a reboot. Probably not related. Can live with that even.
But the call dropping is way bad. I've installed ROM from fresh and tried latest kernels. Don't really notice when it started.
Any one have ideas pls? Thanks!

so it s Bug of this custom ROM and u should ask to solve from its developers.
if u wanna check ur hardware is fine u must back to stock ROM or install trustful & famous rom like CyanogenMod & etc
if ur phone works fine with them so previous rom wasn't good enough

Alarm Clocks Only Play One Tone Cycle OnAOSP/CM Based ROMs

Any time I flash non stock ROMs, any alarm clock I use, including stock, only plays one cycle of the alarm tone. Vibration continues and it works normally otherwise. Stock based ROMs work fine. I've tested this on AICP and Spirit ROM with the same result. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've been happy with it, I've seen others complaining of double tap to wake issues but I think it's on other variants of our phone.

Tempting Android N AOSP

Very tempted to update to Android N (Team FXP AOSP)
But I value my camera quality (Using DRM fix kernel, works great)
Knowing that the Xperia is never going to get android N, due to google removing the Z3's kernel from their source, would it be worth updating to AOSP, basically removing all the features that are so good?
You answered your own question, stick to stock if you want a camera that works 100% well. AOSP camera has never been good for any phone and the camera on Nougat barely works anyway.
Next best thing is Concept ROM, which still has a decent camera
I'm tempted to try Nougat AOSP. I don't mind losing the camera on Z3c that much since I prefer my camera on my G4. But I don't know how to install it. Is there a guide? That's up? Last time I checked Sony's site the guide was down.
Two qustions, how bad does the camera become, is it still usable for simple random snaps to send to friends on IMs?
What is DRM fix kernel?
TIA
Lol nougat barely works. I've been running it for days now. My opinion is nougat is excellent on z3c. I can upload a flash able zip with full Google apps if people are interested

That does sound good. Get 6-8h SOT with SLiMM ROM. Do you know how much you get on this one?
Also could you do me a favour and check which Android Security Patch it got? It would be awesome if PA is up to date with that.
TIA

Is where I am posting all the builds I put together. So be warned that if it doesn't boot it was just a test version. AFAIK the latest ROM should boot fine without issue. GApps are already installed on all the flashable zip versions in that location

Hey thanks. Quick question, you said you have been running nougat on your device and everything (but the camera) seems to be working. I just installed it last night (and my gapps are working as well now) and I already noticed a couple of bugs. First and most important, i can't hear the person on the other end of the line. It appears that my earpiece is not working. The person on the other end can hear me, but I can't hear that person. Second and minor issue, once i plug in my z3c to charge, the battery icon top right shows the charging sign as it should. However when i unplug, that charging sign doesn't go away. So far i have noticed these bugs, can you confirm if you are not facing these bugs (so I know its my device that is messed up).
Thanks,

Hi!
I'm using the latest AOSP for our devices, and facing thiese bugs too. ( 20160912 ). Sometimes I've got calling bug when I can't hear the other person on the line, but he can hear me. Just a restart solves it, but I've got thiese problem nearly evry tenth call time... And one more thing, while i'm on calling and my phone set to minimum volumes, everyone else could to hear my phones speak... or I can say it, what you're talking about. Like when i set the speak to a loudspeaker, as though it were the whole conversation. The speakers are very loud on minimum volume, and not too much louder on maximum settings. ( but, i think they are a known bug ).
Second, the cahrging icon. Yes I experienced it too, when you disconnect the charger from the phone, the icon remain the same, like when the charger plugged in.. And I think, something gping on the background, because my battery goes down nearly 30 percent by a night ( 8h ).
About the rom speed. I think, it runs very smooth / fine until more than five software parallel, ROM while fast. If more than five program run in the background, ROM start to tear, slow down. If you delete them from the memory, the system will be fast again.
I tried to take a logcat with "aLogcat" from playstore, but it's not working. I remember it from my previously phone age, i must convert it to system app... But now, I can't do this, because i did it with Titanium Backup, and now they not support andoid N..
Anyway, I think its will be a very good AOSP rom... ( without camera :/ )

Crackling or static like noise in MIUI Beta 7.0 ROMs : SOLVED

I don't know if this has been answered anywhere and I am sincerely sorry if it has been.
I am faced with a peculiar problem with my 18K Mi Mix. The phone came with 8.2.5.0. When no updates were forthcoming I decided to root and install a custom ROM. Everything went fine and the phone booted up and I installed my apps. I was using 7.8.31 version of the Beta ROM. However I was faced with a problem of a crackling or static like noise in the background while making calls. The speakerphone and headphone or Bluetooth headset has no problems. Only the call speaker. So I imagined it to be a hardware problem and went back to stock. To my surprise, the problem vanished in stock ROM and any ROM based on Android 6.0. It is only present in Android 7.0. So I guess it might have something to do with the Android 7 ROMs themselves.
Has anybody here faced such issues. If you have kindly help me. I am kinda addicted to the 7.0 ROMs and wish to stay on them if I can get rid of this issue. I was using the Global stable ROM earlier.
Thanks for any help.

Well you've already done the hard work so may as well stick RR rom on the phone. All problems have been ironed out and think you will be happy, I went back to miui awhile ago had crackling in calls although mainly on Bluetooth.

Thanks. Will give it a try.
Finally cracked the problem. As I had suspected, this is a software flaw. The whole issue was being caused by the proximity sensor. The moment I turned the proximity sensor off all problems have vanished. Have replicated the problem a number of times, so am pretty sure that is the cause. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

You do need the sensor.
But since the problem is not happening with any of the stable version ROMs (I have tried Global stable 8.2.5 and China Stable 8.5.4), I am very sure its not related to hardware. So for the time being I am more than happy keeping the proximity sensor off and using Nougat 7.0 on my Mix. I am pretty sure this has something to do with drivers or firmware and will be taken care of, once the stable versions of 7.0 are released.

Even my Redmi Note 4 has that cracking or scattering sound when bluetooth calls are made. I found temporary solution that is Turn off the WiFi. Looking for permanent solution.
