[Q] Towelroot for s5 mini project - Galaxy S5 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody,
i recently moved from a SGS2 to the s5 mini as many of you i'm disappointed for the lack of development/projects/enthusiasm but over all i'm frustrated with the root procedures because every procedure trigger knox
i was reading this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/root-root-xxufnf4-stock-firmware-knox-t2840150 and i think that MAY be a solution for our devices.
the principle is simple, make a downgrade of kernel (3.4.0) after this version towelroot exploit is patched
but i couldn't any official kernel with this version for our devices , i'm guessing the device was released with a newer version of the kernel > 3.4.0 i didn't checked.
i know that the "no supported device" on towelroot can be easy fixed editing some string values.
the big question assuming that our devices doesn't have a kernel version 3.4.0 available is can we port another device kernel?
Sorry for my bag English,
Regards from Uruguay

Any news on this matter?

Not possible!

[Q]Install Update (2.3.6) - Root later?

Hey there,
Now I am also a proud owner of a Galaxy Note
Just one little question:
I am pretty sure, that I will root this device - like i did with all my android devices. But I would like to wait a couple of weeks, to be sure that this device working fine so far, you know, warranty etc...
I am currently running the 2.3.5 firmware and there is an update avaliable (i believe it's 2.3.6) - Am I able to root my device even after updating?
There are some HTC devices, which are not rootable with the latest stock firmware - that's why I'm asking
I appreciate any help

[Q] S3 Toolkit on Android 4.3 JSS15J

Hi,
I am trying to root my phone, running on Android 4.3 Build JSS15J. I stumbled upon the S3 Toolkit, but my version nr. and build aren't included, and I wouldn't know which build to pick, to safely run this.
I have also tried Framaroot version 1.8.0, and it provides me with the Aragon option, which is an exploit that's not available sadly.
Has anyone successfully rooted this version, and can guide me in the right direction?

[Q] Updating Baseband & Bootloader Clarification

Hello all, I'm a new user of the Note 4, just came to it from the S6, and I'm loving it so far. However, I'm an AOSP junkie and am currently building my phone to be my DD with it. Therefore, I'm trying to get Bioshock's kernel on my SlimLP build, but it bootloops, I'm assuming because my baseband and bootloader aren't on the latest version. I looked up some guides on how to update them but they're not exactly practical in terms of explicitness. Could a kind soul post comprehensive steps on how to upgrade to the latest baseband/bootloader while still keeping my SlimLP build? Thanks in advance for your patience.

Xposed for Marshmallow 6.0.1

I read in Xposed FAQ about Xposed framework installation :
Does this require root access?
Yes, because it replaces a file in /system/bin. Once the framework is installed, it should work without root access.
Noob question : is it also the case for my mobile SAMSUNG Galaxy A5 2016 running Marshmallow 6.0.1 and not rooted ?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Since Android Lollipop, the only requirement is an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery (TWRP for example). Check this thread for more details about Xposed on a Samsung device with Android 6.0.1:

@Portgas D. Ace
Thanks for your reply.
I will read the thread you mentioned.
But I don't understand a point : to unlock a bootloader and install a custom recovery, I believed that the mobile have to be rooted.
Is it not the case ?
Sorry for my noob remarks.
Well, for the numerous devices that I own, I had to unlock the bootloader before rooting was possible. But for detailed instructions, check the corresponding device subforum on XDA. There you'll find information about this.

Unfortunately after reading instructions, it seems that I will lose SAMSUNG warranty for my device. It's like rooting your device.
So I can't install Xposed framework on my Galaxy A5 2016, as I could do it for a "normal" application (without rooting my device).
I was thinking that it was possible since Android Marshmallow.
