Decoding serial number for build date? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know how to decode the N6 serial number to determine build date? If so, do you use the number on the box, or the number in the bootloader menu on the phone (they are different).

Your nexus 6 box has a date on it? I didn't see one on mine.
In the fastboot, the time I see in the BL: line is 2014-10-21

No it has a serial number.

My box has a date and it is a day after the date that is in the Bootloader barcodes section.

Your box should have a date. Look carefully.
If you need help post a picture with your IMEI/SN blanked out and I'm sure someone will help you.

Bottom right corner of the label. That's where my newest nexus has the date printed.

the boxes differ, depending where you bought your nexus 6.

That must be it then. I bought mine from Best Buy, for Sprint service, back on Black Friday. I broke my screen and had an RMA and was sent a brand new sealed retail box from Moto last week. Both boxes are identical and have the date in the same spot.

There's no date on my (UK) box.

I bet retailers like Best Buy and the Carriers request dates on the box so whatever backstock they have can be rotated while Moto/GP don't keep a backstock so there's no need. The fact that the labels are totally different tells me it's a request by the retailer.

Mine was purchased from Rogers. I'd speculate that the above post is correct.

Purchased online through Sprint.

I'm trying to relate the back cover peeling issue with the build date of the Nexus 6 device.
Anyone has this issue? if so what build date do you have?

Same as mine. No date. There is something called "SeQ# 26026611" I assume this means sequence number, but how to decode?

Boot into download mode with power + vol down.
Volume down until barcodes.
Hit power button.
Look at the barcode.

As title, does anyone know how long is AT&T holding the exclusive Moto maker this time? I was planning to order for t-mobile and got blocked off by it

You can only do that for 16gb but not 32 as of now
I know MotoMaker goes live for Verizon on Friday. Maybe T-Mobile sometime soon.
the pure version is the tmobile. it sounds like they are still out of the 32g. try a white face with 32gb option. and then go back to black. that was working a few days ago. to answer the question... there was no exclusive for at&t at all. the tmo/pure edition was available from the start and verizon is always the last to get their version in, it is cdma.
A little of topic but I wanted to pick up a screen protector today and Verizon said the phone doesn't exist, AT&T (my service provider) said they don't carry it. Best Buy was like "what?" and Radio Shack said they only have accessories for newer phones. I don't think there's an exclusion on it.

You could get 32 last week. They are sold out for now... must be too popular. As with the first-gen X, there is no T-mo specific model, jsust unlocked (why would you want anything else?). I'm holding out a few weeks - hopefully news of the new Nexus will give me another option.
still no luck as of today, I guess it's just out of stock for now.
Stopped by AT&T store today to check out the actual phone and they said they are not getting it in yet either. Wonder how long this thing get hold off from the market

hello my nexus 6 working bat suddenly the creen is not, I hear the phone and everything works but no display, and the device did not get hit or something
What can you do?
Is it a software problem?
Is there a way to contact Google and send the device repaired?
Edit: 28/05/2015 - Today exactly the same problem in my friend phone (nexus 4) maybe it's a virus

When nothing can solve the problem and you can't use warranty and/or your money back.
You may try the following:
Charge the phone a whole night.
Put it in a closed box or plastic bag/cover.
Then put it in the freezer for an hour.
Take it out the freezer and wipe it clean with a towel or something.
Than try to reboot by pressing the on.off button for 20 secs.
Why freezer? Hardware problems can be found sometimes by cooling down printed circuits/chips.
When it does not change anything, repeat the procedure and leave the phone some hours in the freezer.
Another method is freezing the back partially with nitrogen. You need the tool dermatologists use (pressure vessel).
At last you can do the opposite and put the phone from freezer in the sun to let it dry completely.

You need a new screen you got what's known as burn in and eventually it will kill the screen they pulled a bunch of early shipments due to some bad screens but if you bought from a third party you might be out of luck especially if they officially have no dealings in your country my advise is to contact the person you bought it from and have them submit the warrant claim

Alright guys... I bought the nexus 6 on Black Friday on Amazon when i went for vacation in the states... Now im back in my own country and i am only getting Edge in the data section and i have flashed numerous Radios and Unlocked the secret phone menu and chose LTE only (No Data when I do this) ... SO i did some research and it says that the US version that amazon is selling only supports certain bands and im wondering if this is why i am only on Edge ...
Any brilliant minds can help me with this dilemma so i get atleast get H+ or preferrably 4G for my data connection please
US version is a model XT1103, International version is XT1100 or something along those lines (I know the US version has a 3 in it). I can't remember if there's a conversion method like I remember the N5 having. Definitely check the bands your carrier uses vs the bands supported by the phone.

Thanks for the response... I just went ahead and switched carrier and now getting H+ so i guess its a carrier problem... Now my only problem is the split screen issue

I've not had that problem since 5.0.1 iirc it had something to do with the stock kernel and disabling gpu 2d drawing fixed it or something along those lines.

Bummer.
In Developer Options there is setting "Disable HW overlays" Try that. I don't remember it that survives reboot. I have had mine replaced by Play Store in early January 2015. Never had this problem since.

Thanks Much... Going to try this in combination with LeanKernel which supposedly helps with the problem as well... This is a real deal breaker with the phone for me... I've had my nexus 5 from the initial release without any problems and this experience just sucks
Edit: So disabling HW overlays did not fix the problem...
I had that happen to my screen one time. A power button screen off and back in fixed it. Has not happened again.

Samsung extras. Is there any way to order before getting the phone?

I'm sorry if this has been asked already. Is there any way for me to order the charger and memory card before I get the phone? I pre-ordered through Best Buy back on 9/1.

Only if you order direct from Samsung, where they'll send you the phone and the bonuses together. Otherwise, you need the phone in hand as you have to send the your phone's IMEI and MAC address. Plus I believe the easiest way to get the promo is to sign into the promo app from your Note 8 which automates a lot of the application.

I ordered the Note 8 and had to call ecommerc (1-855-254-4747) to confirm the extras, and was told that even though I ordered it online, I still also have to wait for the phone to be in my hands in order to complete the registration using the Samsung account and filling in the Note 8's IMEI. I also asked if I could just log into any Note 8 and use that IMEI, but they need the one tied to the order or it will be rejected (I tried haha).
SO.. The extras promo is handled just like carrier / retailers. Samsung.can orders aren't automatically filled. We will have to wait for the physical phones complete the promo registration from pending to completed and then wait for them to ship.

How to determine XT1900 variant from the box?

I went to Best Buy to get an X4 fully expecting to get the Retail Motorola version. I checked the shelf tag and it didn't say Android One. When I got the box home before I opened the box I checked that the label did not say Android One anywhere.
Turns out it IS the Android One version. It's on the boot screen and in about phone as variant Google Fi.
I plan to go to Best Buy again and discuss this. But my question is how can I tell the variant from the label on the box so THEY can know which one is in the box?
The label has a field marked Type: M2297
Can someone with a Retail X4 check if they have a different number? Or does someone know how to tell from the box?

Update: The Variant can be found by looking at the P/N: on the label on the box
'retail' version: PA8S0007US
Android One version: PA8S0025US
Moving forward Best Buy will be selling Android One version of the X4 in an unmarked box. Nothing that indicates it's the Android One.
What is the SKU? Can probably match it to Motorola website.
They don't give any kind of model number/SKU on the website under full specifications. They just list them by name.

FYI blue box is totally retail not amazon or fi.
It's totally strange. It was shrink wrapped and had a piece of imprinted Motorola tape on the box.
Refurbished unit maybe? Was supposed to be a store display but never got put out??? The sales person said he wasn't sure it was from because he did not show any instock.

Not really sure what you could do with that info either but you should block the barcode too.
If you share your IMEI number it will provide access to your location and call logs. Also people can record or listen to your calls. The important use of an IMEI number is to identify your mobile devices. If your mobile have been lost, you can easily identify it with the help of IMEI number.
The right person would know how to abuse it. It's just a precaution, unless you're selling it. Buyers check it to ensure its not blacklisted.

Just picked one up from Best Buy the other day. It is the Android one, says on back of phone, Software Variant in System Settings is google_fi, updated to pie.
Came in blue box, all sealed. No reference to Android one on box.
