XT1068 WIFI getting worse after each day - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i have recently updated my moto g 2014 dual sim to lollipop and had no issues, until about a week ago.
My WIFI was amazing, but is now getting worse by the day, now I can hardly even connect when right next the router, at the beginning i could get excellent WIFI from anywhere in the house. Even resetting my phone dosent help and i know it isnt the router cause other WIFI enabled devices still work the same as they did before.
So I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem and if anyone had a solution.
Thanks

WiFi Signal Strength Poor

I've owned my Nexus One for over a year and I've never had any issues with connecting and using WiFi until recently. This is especially important for me, because unlike most people I don't have a data plan and exclusively use WiFi.
My phone is running stock Gingerbread 2.3.3, GRI40. After the update I didn't experience any issues with the WiFi or anything else with my phone. This past weekend however, my phone has had issues staying connected to WiFi and is having extremely poor signal strength. I went out of town and was using WiFi at a hotel with no issues and left my phone on over night. The next day I was using my phone regularly and then when I went to turn the screen on I discovered the phone was off. It appeared that it had crashed and turned off, I'm still not sure if this is related to my WiFi issue. When I went back to the same hotel I was unable to detect any of the wireless networks I had been using previously while others were able to.
When I got home I was able to connect to my wireless network, but the signal strength was extremely poor and it dropped the connection often and it continues to be so today. I've been directly next to the router and the signal strength barely increased. Before signal strength was strong throughout the entire house and my dad's Droid Incredible continues to have strong signal strength in the house. Therefore it isn't an issue with the router, but the phone itself.
So I'm not sure if it is a hardware or software issue, since I didn't experience problems initially with Gingerbread and hardware doesn't usually stop working like that. I'm contemplating doing a factory data reset to see if that resolves the issue.
I'm not sure if I should contact Google or HTC for support, especially since I believe the warranty was for one year and I'm now past that. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, here are some posts on Google's forums with other people having WiFi issues: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Google Mobile/thread?tid=00279551366307eb&hl=en
Ah I wondered if it was just me, I previously had no problem getting wifi signal in my bedroom.
Since Gingerbread I only have a single bar (just the sphere of the icon is green). Sometimes it'll just drop straight to 3g :-(
im having the same problem
I'm also consider low wifi signal.
Same problem here to.
Not that I'm glad to hear other people are having issues, I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I just got really fed up with it today and decided to do a factory reset. Unfortunately it was a huge waste of my time and didn't improve anything at all. I can't even use WiFi unless I'm 10 feet away from the router and even then the connection is slow and drops out constantly. I have never been so disappointed in Google.
I'm considering trying out CyanogenMod.

I just got the N1 and is still happy whit it, but I hope Google will fix this problem. As I can see, there is many people out there, that has the same problem as us.
I always wanted this mobile, but didn't have the money to spend. So for a month ago, I could buy it in Denmark for 2000 dk / 400 $ so I don't know if it always have been a problem. I got it with 2.3.3
Hope this text is readable. My English is not my strong side.

Intermittent signal drop on my Atrix
I have the same problem on my Atrix, signal is weak and drops every now and then.
Read on the Motorola forum that turning the cell phone settings of - ie Airplane mode on, resolves this....sort of. So sounds like you have a choice of using wifi or getting phone calls.
So far very disappointed, and not encouraged by the other post here either.
Did you ever think that maybe its time for a new wifi router?

[Q] Anyone else having WiFi issues with their HTC One?

Hey guys,
So I just got my brand-spanking new HTC One today. I upgraded from the Evo LTE, and I already love it.
But there's one thing that has been really frustrating to me for the few hours I've owned this phone... It has major WiFi issues.
My One can see the WiFi network, can connect to it, but wont give an internet connection! It's so frustrating!
My Evo LTE, being connected to the same WiFi network, connects to the internet with no problem at all.
A temporary fix is to turn off the WiFi radio, then turn it back on. As a result, I would connect to the internet for a minute or so, then it would disconnect from the internet (it's still connected to my WiFi network, and it recognizes it, and it gives no messages about the connection suggesting that something is wrong with my router/connection).
I changed the frequency bands, but they all have the same issue. I have enabled "Best Wi-Fi performance" and "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep."
I've also reseted my router numerous times... No luck.
Is anyone else having this issue, or did I just get a lemon? Can anyone think of a possible solution?
Thanks!
no issues here with my one and my netgear r6300 ac router.
Wi-Fi has been fantastic for me on my one. My evo LTE if you remember had the issue of wi-fi just shutting off after the phone was asleep. That was fixed in an update but even after that was fixed my evoLTE would show it's connected but data would not work. So I would have to toggle it on & off. I also had an issue with my sense widget not working and getting stuck. I was really starting to dislike the evoLTE because of it since your notifications quit working if your wi-fi was not connected correctly. I put up with crappy wi-fi for almost a year, mainly because I knew if I took it into Sprint they would say everything works perfect I just didn't wanna deal with. I know it's extremely frustrating to not have your wi-fi work correctly. My advice see if you can get a hold of another HTC one to test side by side. If it's a hardware issue you should get it swapped. You could also try hard resetting. I use a a WRT54GL with tomato at home and a Asus N66U at work, both have performed awesome with my one.
I have _exactly_ the same issue with my One. I have no idea if it's a software or a hardware problem. Tried a hard reset just yet, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
Really frustrating indeed, since the One is not very good available in the Netherlands yet, so if I return it, I might have to wait a few weeks to get a new one. I've tried it with at least 6 completely different WiFi networks, but the problem occurs with every one of them.
Only issue I have had with the WiFi thus far is it doesn't seem to have the pickup up range compared to my other phones and tablets.
WiFi on mine is insanely crazy! Picks up signal way better than any other device I've ever owned. Might be the kernel I'm running. Try it out! Look in the original dev thread.

I've noticed this as well. Areas in my office where I could get a decent wifi signal with my 3D I am dropping wifi completely with the One.
Router brand/model? Firmware version? WEP/WPA/Open? 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz or dual band? Channel (more relevant on 2.4 than 5)?
Does your phone get a valid IP? Check on the phone itself then the router under DHCP (assuming normal configuration, IP should begin 192.168.*.*)
Can you ping any internal node (ie your router) or external node (ie google.com or the IP to google)?
If your router has WEP/WPA enabled, switch it to Open solely for testing the connection.

Had the exact same problem. Only thing that fixed it was switching my router encryption from WPA to WEP. Works like a charm now. Best of luck.

Same problem and my solution
I had the same problem. Finally I tried to reset the phone without putting all my google-account info back. Then the wifi works fine. After that a Added my google-account and can enjoy my new HTC one. The phone is really good!
Note that in this way I didn't get all my setting back from my google account (like access points), but at it is working!

[Q] Can't Connect to 2.4Ghz networks

Hi Friends,
I've been experiencing some really weird behaviour on my Moto X 1st gen.
My Phone is not Rooted, not flashed... It's all stock running the latest software (Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat) for a while.
Recently I've noticed my Phone stopped connecting to my Wifi Network. It can search for networks and find them, but as soon as I try to connect It to the networks, they become out of range on the list or simply "Saved" and not connected. The Networks WONT connect at all... never ever.
Doing some tests tho, I noticed that my Moto X fails to connect to all 2.4Ghz Networks... It can only connect to 5Ghz ones. I can't figure out why. Tried Clearing Cache Partition, Data Wipe from inside Android and from Bootloader menu... all with no success.
What I come here to ask is: Are there 2 Wifi Radios on the Phone, one of 2,4Ghz frequency and one 5Ghz Frequency? Are there Two antennas and maybe one of them got broken? Do you guys think that re-flashing a Radio Firmware may fix the problem?
Many Wifi Networks run under the 2.4Ghz band. So It is quite important to me to have It working.
I'm asking if I should bother trying because Flashing Radios and Kernels has It's risks, and this phone is my Daily Driver, so I come to you for help or new ideas on how to solve It.
Thanks in advance.
Look in the advanced Wifi settings (three dot menu at lower right when in the network list) and see if the frequency band is set to Auto. If it is set to 5ghz. Putting it on Auto is probably your best bet.

I checked every configuration... I even discovered that the phone doesnt connect specifically to 2.4Ghz networks by switching It first to 2.4Ghz-Only to filter the 5Ghz Networks out and see that no Network connected and then I switched to 5Ghz to check and see that 5Ghz networks do work.
My guess is that Radio Firmware got this strange behaviour after I installed Netgear WiFi Network Analytics App(It started happening after that, afterall)... It might have changed some configuration on the Firmware that I do not have access through the System UI, and is not OS-wise, because not even factory reset worked to fi this... so Only thing that I didnt try yet was a Radio Re-Flash.
Maybe I'll just try It. Or my WiFI Radio just broke.
Hey just replaced my Netgear R6300 with the Netgear R7000 and I am running into the same issue.
My Moto X and my Razr Maxx HD have the same issue seeing the 2.4Ghz, but see the 5Ghz just fine.
All other devices in the household see the 2.4Ghz fine, it just seem's to be the phone's.
Any ideas? I tried two different R7000, and working with Netgear, but no dice.
It's not a biggy, as I have verified it only impact's the phones, and I can set them to 5Ghz anyways.
I was just wondering if anybody has seen this too.
Very odd that it's two different devices. Are you certain that the network is using both bands?
I have the identical problem described in this thread.
Only difference not yet noted is that maybe 1 time out of 50 it will connect to the 2.4ghz network, and stay connected for a few hours. Then it will go back to not working at all for days, weeks.
I've been trying to fix this for months. More than a few people seem to be having the same problem. I've tried every combination of router/phone setting imaginable. Don't think there's an easy fix to this other than new phone or new router.
Have the same problem, 5ghz works fine but 2.4ghz don't works for weeks. it started this spring. Anybody fond something that helps?

Update: I've recently been in deep on this problem with Motorola technical support. Several hours on the phone with them, explaining the issue over and over, bug reports, email exchanges, etc etc etc. Tier 4.
At the end of the day, company policy rules and they wont look after me because my phone is outside of the 1 year warranty. I'm still paying for this phone on contract. Not cool. They won't see another dime from me!
I have the same issue on my Moto X XT1097 Lollipop 5.1

wifi problem

Wifi gets very slow every once in a while (If try to switch wifi off and on again, sometimes it doesn't even show my wifi network in the wifi list!! )
Though at the same time in other devices wifi works perfectly.
I have been searching through other threads but could not find a solution!
Having this problem since i bought the phone last month. I thought September update would solve it. But it didn't. So can any one give me a solution to this problem?

Moto G6 won't connect to WiFi

Both in office and home. I have restarted the phone 20 times today. And kept it on for hours at a stretch. Turned airplane mode on off. Took it close to the router. Nothing...
It shows Connecting..., Authenticating...,Obtaining IP address..., then disconnects and cycles through a few available Wi-Fi networks and does the same thing. All Wi-Fi networks are working is all other devices including a Moto E4 Plus.
Boost mobile Moto G6 Play without a sim card.
Please help.
Guys, i haven't been able to connect to WiFi since 8 am Eastern Time. Anyone has any clue? I am on the stock ROM which I reverted back after rooting TWRP and RessurectionRemix etc. The Google pay used not to work even after reverting as it used to say the device is rooted or the os is altered in some way. WiFi signal drop used to happen very frequently when it was working but it's apparently a known issue. I didn't do anything special in last few weeks and the phone didn't heat up excessively or anything.
Also anyone with the know how, I bought the phone online from Boost Mobile website for 80 USD+tax 3 months back but never activated the connection. If the phone is malfunctioning, who provides me with the warranty. Do I contact motorola customer service?
FYI the WiFi started working after full reset. No idea why!
