How to Hide folders in xperia z1 - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Every android powered smartphones supported the feature of hiding folders by simply placing a dot before the folder name. But in this phone its saying not allowed and further they say SD card is read only. Why does this happen is it due to the 4.4.4 os or is it a security done by manufacturers? Can we override these limitations without rooting?

you can hide apps if you have root , xposed module and kk xposed installed.

Which firmware are you on?
I suggest update to latest .157.
You can put .nomedia file in that folder, that you want to hide.

If you mean build number it sure ends in 157. So you are saying you are using file commander and you are still able to place a dot before folder name. Can you do the same in memory card?

Mass text application

I need an app that will allow me to text 30-50 people at a time (more would be nice too). I had text flooder and that app worked well but can't find it in the market anymore.
I know there are a number of text apps. But I'd like to see what you guys are using.
Handcent has a group message function that might work for you.

Here you go.
Haven't installed an apk file yet. I googled and these are the directions I got...
To install APK applications on your Android phone do the following:
1.Copy the APK file you want to install to your phone's memory card and insert the card into your Android phone.
2.Go to Android Market and search for the Apps Installer application.
3.Open it and click on the Install button.
4.After it is installed, just open it. It will show you all the APK files stored directly in the root directory of your memory card.
5.Just click on the application you want to install and it will be installed.
This is the easiest way? And I noticed there are a lot of apk installer apps in the market. Any particular one better than another?
I just put the apk files on my SD card. Using file manager navigate to the file and click on it for it to install. I'm root and sideloading enable.

So save file to laptop and then hook USB cable up and copy/paste? Or is it possible to use my Captivate to come to this page, click on the file, and have it installed that way?
Do you have a specific file manager you use?

EStrongs File manager issue?

I am having a weird issue with the Estrongs app. Before the conversion to EXT4/Overcome rom I could view all files. Since the conversion any folder I chose says empty?
Astro file manager shows me all the contents but I can not mount the drive like Estrongs.. any idea's?

What kernel did you flash? Go to settings to check if both your SD cards card mounted. If not it may be due to the kernel you flashed.. which screwed up the mounting of sdcards. If that's the case, you gotta do a full flash with repartition. Richardtrip's version 11 caused my sdcards to become unmountable 2 weeks ago. Hope this helps.
Most probably your internal SD card is wiped . Such things can happen . If so you need reflash a new rom with repartition, PIT, PDA
Ok so both cards read a storage size...
Like I stated in the Op, I can view all the files in astro, just not EStrongs. Is there another app that will allow me root access and be able to mount the.drive as rw to make changes??

Easy killer.. I posted here because everything worked fine with EStrongs while on Roto's v2. Switch to Richardtrips kernel and the Overcome rom and now I have no root access through EStrongs. I would venture to say that that is a development issue with either the kernel or ROM.....
Open your superuser app and delete or remove the estrongs entry where it allows that program for SU access and try it again.
And Not trying to be mean, however if it is something with that rom or kernel post in that thread or email the developers of estrongs
If u think that is the fault of the ROM.., Maybe You should post inside that topic. If everyone open a new post for asking Question , what will be here like?
Respect to the Developer, they spend their time without income and shared their success.
Overcome have no such issue at all as my experience.

The Real Smart Actions App&Odex files! Not Blur Actions!

Okay so I went up to vzw today and got on the RAZR. The last time I checked it out, I don't actually remember there being a Smart Actions "App". But today there was. So i took out the SD Card that was in the RAZR and put in mine. I had the Root Explorer apk on MY SD card and installed it. Went to system apps and seen three Apk's with the same icon as the Smart Actions App. I copy them and the odex files and put them on my SD card. They don't install correctly BUT when you try to install the Apk Labeled "ContextModeManager" it says "Smart Actions"! My Rom is deodexed so maybe that's why it didn't install. There is also one Labeled "ContextQuickActions", which when you try to install its says "Actions". The other one is Labeled" ContextSmartProfile", which when you try to install it says "Smart Profile". I zipped them all in a folder hoping some can make use of these and uploaded them to DropBox.

Am I missing something, or does Root Explorer need root access? And the RAZR in the VZW store had root access? That's very interesting.

Not necessarily, it only needs root access when your editing something in the system.
4Maybe im wrong, I was looking thru a deodex rom and there was more then one apk with context in the name, and there's a file with the name context in lib, maybe if you guys copy all those apks ,file, with context in the name and put them in system in the correct folders set the right perms, maybe that will work, or make a flashable zip file, some system apps wont install if you don't flash it, not sure if anyone tried that, just trying to help

Are you using stock file manager? If so go into settings and check the show hidden files option. Are you referring to accessing through a file manager or viewing a apk?
Im using rood explorer and the built in file explorer too. Cant find waze sound files among others.

Cannot access SD-card

Hi together
I just got my new S2 tab 9.7" wifi. I took the SD-card from my S4 phone and put it in the tab. Now it sees how much free space is on the card, it also sees the folders, but no files. I also can't write on the card.
What do I do wrong?
Many tks!

If you are using mm, you need to give the file manager explicit permission to write to the sdcard.
The file manager should ask for this permission.

MM = Marshmallow
Tks
I felt it's a stupid question...
It's strange. Android sees the card in Settings/memory. It also sees that 51 GB of 59 are full. But only sometimes it also sees the files. Sometimes it only sees the folders, and when opening them they seem to be empty. Just no files can be seen. But once it even worked to open Fotos on the SD-card, change something and save it again...
That's really strange, and I have no more idea what I could try else?

Use a different file manager. If you're rooted the best is root explorer.
They also have a free non root version called Explorer or try ES Explorer.

I already did that. The phone is rooted, TWRP on it. Since Total Commander didn't work on the SD card, and also the built in file manager from Samsung I installed ES file explorer. And then it worked. But only for a short time. It's really strange.
Thanks for your help anyhow! I keep on trying and hoping...
Same here, tried several fm, and reformatted my Samsung evo+ 128gb from the tablet and win 7 still having issues.

You won't have any issues with root explorer.
Also MM manages sdcard access on a per app basis. The app must be mm compatible and request access permission.
App permissions can also be enabled/disabled in app manager.

tks ashyx. Yes, I already bought a new Samsung superfast card. This works now. Merry Christmas!
Had the same issue, it was definitively the card. Works perfectly with any file manager after getting a new one. Cheers
