[Q] Lollipop audio problems - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i updated my moto G using the script located in HTCMania made by AlkalinoRap and the firmware of my retail XT1068 , but i also heared about some people having the same problem in OTA
notifications just vibrates (im not in interruptions mode), they were working before,
and when someone calls me, i cant hear them, but they can hear me. Speakers aren't broken, they work, at least in multimedia (music, games, videos)
i have rebooted the phone, and the problem don't disappears
any suggestion to solve the problem?

Dont solved the problem... So i have same problem. Iam on 5.0.2 and here is my info--->
I just got my Moto G and i have a weird sound problem. Every ringtone and notification start to ring really quiet, then after a second volume increases to maximum. I can't see in settings to enable or disable this feature. The problem is especially with notifications as they don't last more than a second so they never get a chance to increase in volume. Can anybody confirm this problem so I would know should I ask for a replacement? Thanks...

It is NOT a bug. It is a feature by Motorola. Called Ascending ringtone.

Ahh yes, this problem. I got it when I installed Viper4Android. Had something to do with SELinux.
Assuming you are rooted, all you need to do is reflash whatever sound mod you've installed and set SELinux to permissive.
Assuming you are on stock unrooted, it might be a bad system image file. Reflash the ROM.

Problem solved, just a few reboots after the bug

[Q] How to increase speaker volume in cm11 xperia sp

I have install cm11 from "http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=huashan( cm-11-20140824-NIGHTLY-huashan.zip )" Overall rom works fine but the only issue i am facing is low speaker volume, volume has decrease almost 50% from stock rom or any other rom. Searched a lot but did not find any help, anyone else has face this issue and come with a solution. Help me regarding this issue.
Your exact same question has been asked several times. I can't image you searched allot...
Even a Google search gives you the answer straight away: https://www.google.com/webhp?source...&ie=UTF-8#q=xperia+sp+low+volume+cm11&spell=1
I have looked in that thread but its not working for me.. thats why i posted it here

Download the latest CM11 release.
You're most likely still on an old version which had an experimental fix for the rear mic bug.
This is what's causing the echo. For now the rear mic has been disabled. (Only needed for filming videos, so not a big deal for most people)

Then use the fix I have already presented in numerous other threads... Install Williams kernel for CM (v3.0 was the most stable one) and use Fauxsound to boost your volume. IT WORKS.

[Q] Moto Assist vs. System Volume

Hi guys,
I'm having a issue with the Moto Assist that is really getting on my nerves and I was wondering if this is the regular behavior, or if my device has any issues.
Every time that the Moto Assist and/or Moto Voice is activated my volume level is changes to some other level (I like to leave my device on vibrate, despite if its in priority or regular mode).
I have already "deactivated" both Moto Assist and Moto Voice (updated them again afterwards), and also cleared the system cache partition with no success so far.
Any ideas?

Edit: Clarification about the deactivation of Moto Assist and Moto Voice

Known bug on 5.0x. We hope it will be fixed on 5.1
I doubt this is a bug as such, it needs volume to reply to you

It really does look like a bug, because it not only activates with moto voice. When Moto Assist activates the "Sleeping Mode", and change the ringer mode to Priority, it also raises the volume.

It's a bug. If it needs to raise it fine, but it should return to previously set level afterwards.
But why moto voice uses the ringer channel is beyond me. That seems like a really stupid decision.

Good point, it should be smart enough to use the system volume of have another volume if it's own

Problem with short sounds.

Hey guys! So I'm always on here asking more technical questions, but I realized that I never asked about why the Nexus 6 for some reason doesn't like to play short sounds! For instance, the sounds when you like stuff and share stuff in the Facebook app, or the ding sound from Facebook Messenger. As well as other short sounds. Is this just mine? Or does this phone just do that? Thanks again guys!
I have the same thing happen on my phone. When it receives a notification, sometimes the first 1/4 second or so is very low in volume and then the sound picks up to a normal level. Weird for sure.
Then I'm not the only one, it's weird and I wonder if it's a software bug or even supposed to be a software feature! Lots of times, if it's a short sound, the phone just vibrates and skips the sound altogether!

Same here...
Yep me too, intermittently, on Cataclysm suspect it's an M issue.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Might not be the same issue but I found the same thing with ringtones - starts out very low initially and then returns to normal volume. Not sure it is an issue inherent with M since I haven't had it happen with most of the modified M roms but did have the issue with the M versions of Cataclysm I've flashed. Also had similar issue with some L roms also.
I hate this low volume bug and have started using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.notificationsmanager... It works excellent.. Set up repeating notification for program ur having problems with, for me is FB messenger.. U get a simultaneous double notification sound first time and u can setup time interval for re-notification... Free version you can pick just one app, but paid version unlimited apps and I think was like $2 bucks or so... Well worth it... Hopefully helps someone... Flash safe lol

Some of these half sounds are freaky!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this has been an issue since this phone was released. It has been for me, at least. Every sound starts off very quiet and increases to normal after a second or two. I hated it at first but I've learned to live with it.

I've had it since I got the phone on 5.0.1 yea and still happens today.
Yea, this phone has always done this. Definitely not a Marshmallow issue.

So. Is there absolutely no solutions for this? I recently switched from SlimLP to stock Marshmallow and now I keep missing notifications since the sound is sometimes basically inaudible. I didn't have any problems with notification or any other volumes with SlimLP. Kinda sucks how switching back to stock broke such an essential feature especially since stock doesn't have notification LED either.
Nexus 6 have 3 main audio issues;
1- Volume normalization for certain frequencies. Some songs are really loud(funky, pop types), some are just fading suddenly(rock or metallic), just try to use a good equalizer program or viper.
2- Voltage dependent volume lowering. This is an issue with amplifier chipset, some kernels are disabling them(blu-spark, hellscore etc) but at very low voltages it is still effective.
3-Ascending sound. This is what causes notification sound problems. Actually this can be experienced all android system sounds and lots of apps that use them(whatsapp message send click, keyboard clicks, notificaitions etc.). Only way to solve it for now is to use another program for notifications. I'm using lightflow for led configuration and some notificaiton sounds like whatsapp, facebook messenger. You just need to switch volume control in notification settings to lightflow volume control, also you must disable original sounds to none. It is not a good solution, yes and I hate dropping google keyboard sounds but for now it is te only way .
Definitely this issue wasn't on L stock Rom, after upgrading to M stock Rom, my notification went to hell.

Can you tell how u set lightflow for Facebook messenger? I set it up and still issue persist with messages, did I just waste £2.00?

Nexus 6: Notification Issue After 6.0.1 Update

ringtone and notification problems
Hi
I have recently bought 2 nexus 6 phones from amazon, and updated it to marshmallow 6.0.1.
I found some issue in the ringtone and notification sounds in both of them:
Notifications sound of third party apps like facebook, and messenger are low however the notification sound of messages and gmail app are normal.
When the phone rings it starts ringing in low volume for about 1 or 2 seconds, then it continue in normal level.
Also when try to set the ringtone from settings for the first ringtone you try to listen it starts ringing in low volume too for 1 or 2 seconds then return to normal level.
are these problems a software or hardware issue?
If they are software issues, is there a way to fix it?

Software issue. There is an unnoficial fix in this thread. You'll need to be rooted though.

You should try to install custom rom or reinstall stock rom with fastboot.
during deep sleep, when a call arrives
sound is slow and distorted in incoming call
Me too
WTH, I thought it was a problem with my A2. Right after Pie update I have had 2 issues, 1. Front camera was not working and 2. Speaker distortion during incoming call. Took it to service center who simply flashed a firmware and said both the problems will be solved, but they didn't, they said the front camera module needs to be changed and they didn't have in stock, took it to other service center who refused to login for service stating its just a software issue and will be solved by factory reset! Finally took it to a third service center who opened up and said "the camera connection was lose, and fixed both the issues", front cam was working fine but the speaker distortion was still there. Had to take it to the third service center one more time and replicate the problem there, then they took the phone and said they will be replacing the speaker under warranty, the mobile is still with them as we speak.
And interestingly, when I gave to them to fix the front camera, they reverted to 8.1 but the problem was still there. Wrong proximity sensor placement, yellow band, memory management issues (I can't clean the Chrome cache!), and all the bugs Pie brought in, the worst android phone I have ever owned till date.
I love how this phone falls to pieces slowly and we keep hoping for fixes but each iteration of an update introduces a new bug ... Mi A3 slowly shows up and still nothing : ))
