I have the Verizon version of the HTC Once M7 and would like to get it fully compatible with T-mobile. Here's what the last few hours of research and reading through these forums has led me to believe. Can anyone verify if my understanding is correct? Or am I missing something?
All HTC One M7 phones have the same hardware, so there's no hardware limitation causing network incompatibility, rather carrier incompatibility is due to firmware/sofware.
To be able install the T-mobile RUU (htc.com/us/support/htc-one-t-mobile/news) on a Verizon version of the HTC One M7, I need to s-off the phone using sunshine (theroot.ninja/index.html)
To install the T-mobile RUU, I should follow the instructions on htc's website (htc.com/us/support/htc-one-t-mobile/news)
To be thorough, here's the details of the phone I have:
HTC One M7:
M7_WLV PVT SHIP S-ON FR
HBOOT-1.57.000
RADIO-1.13.41.0702
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-5.28.605.2
eMMC-boot 2048MB
And the name of the RUU that I'd like to install:
RUU_M7_UL_K443_SENSE60_MR_TMOUS_6.10.531.10_Radio_4T.28.3218.04_10.33E.1718.01L_release_405711_signed_2
Thanks! Just want to make sure I have everything thought out before I begin.

Hi guys, I have came to Canada and brought my UK HTC One M7 international factory unlocked phone with me. I expect it to work but I'm having issues.
I only seem to be able to access EDGE even though I am in an area that clearly supports HSPA+.
I have installed custom roms in the past so I'm wondering if I have somehow messed with the radio etc
Does anyone have any ideas that may help me?

Depending on your S-OFF/S-ON status, and willingness to lose data on your phone, you can convert to a US Dev edition.. which will give you correct radios.

You should really look into updating your software, since the m7 is on 4.4.2 officially now
Anyways, flash the oldest radio from here (the initial release one, baseband 1.00.20.0315), and that might fix your issue.

I tried to update OTA but since I have a custom recovery it just reset to recovery and that's it? Can you recommend me a good one for me? Thank You very much for your help

OK, since you have a custom recovery with stock,
a) it's pretty much better to be on a custom ROM since you can update easier.
b) If you want to be on stock, it's best to back everything up and run a RUU.
If you choose option a), flash this recovery, and install a custom ROM such as ViperOne.
If you choose option b), follow the instructions on this thread.
Hi there, so I'm looking to flash lollipop to my M7 but first want to verify I've taken the right steps.
Here's my phone's info:
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.56.00000
RADIO-4A.23.3263.28
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-4.19.631.9
eMMC-boot 2048MB
MID: PN0712000
CID: ROGER001
version-main 4.19.631.9
Now, as far as I'm aware, this is the unlocked edition of the M7. I'm hoping to use this RUU here To flash lollipop onto my phone:
RUU_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_7.17.1540.7_Radio_4T.35.3218.16_10.33Q.1718.01L_release_420191_signed_2.exe (can't post link because I just registered)
My concern is that while my phone is listed as M7_UL (m7_unlocked I gather), the CID reads "Roger001". I currently have used the phone only with Virgin Mobile in Canada (Bell Canada's network) and had no problems, but I just want to make sure this won't mess up my radio or make it unusable with my carrier.
I've also gone ahead and backed up all my data from my phone on my computer, and created a nandroid backup as well (although I'm not sure if I could even use the nandroid if things went poorly, because I think I'll be losing custom recovery right?)
Any advice or links to information I might be missing would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Also, forgot to mention, my phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked.

Nope it won't work, simply because you are s-on, you require 631 RUUs simple as that, you cannot flash a 1540 RUU, however if you go s-off then you can.
M7 UL mean HTC One model 7 not sure what the u stands for, but the L is with LTE support.
You would need to s-off your phone to change the cid and flash the developer firmware in order to flash the developer 1540 ruu, s-off can only be done using sunshine and will cost $25.

So if I S-Off using rumrunner then change my CID to "BS_US001" I can successfully flash the RUU?
The thought of S-Off scares me slightly, can someone confirm that there's no chance that this method will brick my device, and that I won't have any issues with the radio?

The procedure to s-off itself is not risky, but when s-off is achieved, you'll always have to be careful what you flash. S-OFF remove protection from crucial partitions on your phone and let you flash anything you want without verification. So if you flash something not compatible with your phone, you can brick it.

You'll be fine using dev edition on Canadian carriers. I have personally tested on Fido, Rogers, Telus and Koodo. Should work too on Bell/Virgin.

Great, thanks! In terms of what's compatible, is it pretty much just using common sense, i.e. not flashing a rom meant for the M8 or some other phone, or are there more things that could make something incompatible that I would need to learn about in the future?
Also, the ROM I posted here and intend to flash, it's for sure compatible? Sorry I know I'm probably being a bit overcautious

Yes its safe to use that ruu on your phone.
TO avoid potential brick, always make sure you flash files for
M7_U or M7_UL variant. Files for other variants (e.g M7WLS will brick your phone)
Do not try to flash roms for other phones. We often see ppl bricking their M7 because they have mistakenly flashed an HTC Droid DNA rom on it.
Check MD5 values on your download to make sure your files are not corrupted before flashing <--- important!
Ask questions if you are not sure of the file you want to flash.
---------- Post added at 06:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:09 PM ----------
and if you want to update your firmware, very important:
use a full firmware package
if using firmware package from ota files, they must be flashed incrementally.

Sorry, one final question. Do I understand you correctly that I need to first flash a new firmware for my phone before using the RUU? If so where would I find this? I originally thought that the RUU would update the firmware for me.

You normally need to be on 6.xx.xxx.x or 7.xx.xxx.x firmware to use the 7.xx.xxx.x RUU. You can try to use it but im pretty sure the ruu will stop at 5% (checking headers). If so, you must flash the firmware first. You can use the 6.07.1540.2 firmware posted in my thread.
Hello,
I have an unlocked HTC Phone. The phone is from AT&T but I'm now using it with T-Mobile. Many of features do not work correctly now such as MMS, Hotspot, Software updates etc. (In place of Software update, I have AT&T software update which always reports that there are no updates for my phone)
Someone suggested that I can use RUU provided by HTC to replace the current software with T-Mobile one. I used the RUU that HTC recently posted for t-mobile but it fails with Error 155 pretty quickly. I tried booting the phone in fast boot mode and I get the same error from the install wizard.
Here's what it tells me when I got to boot menu,

155 error is wrong RUU, to convert your phone to t-mobile you will need s-off, you can only update an AT&T phone when you are on the AT&T network, so although your sim is T-Mo working in a AT&T phone, you will never be able to update.
You can try rumrunner to s-off your phone. http://rumrunner.us/
If that doesnt work, the only way is sunshine @ $25 http://theroot.ninja/

you will need to change your CID and MID to match the T-Mobile RUU, quite easy to do, we can guide you to do that once you get s-off.
You may then have to flash the firmware first before the RUU, then just run the RUU and you will be full stock T-Mobile then.
p.s once s-off, never go s-on, it will cause you more headaches than you can imagine.
Hello.
I have just buy an HTC ONE M7 Blue, and I realised that when I get into "Settings-About" section I do not have "Update Software" so I cannot update my phone, I only see "Tell HTC and error reporting", and when I get into this section I see in red:
"Notwithstanding the above statement, this is a Test Device. ..."
So, my phone is a Test Device!!!
But, what can I do with this phone? I mean, now it is on:
4.4.3 Android Version
HTC Sense version 6.0
Software number 6.13.708.1
HTC SDK API Level 6.25
And when i get into bootloader I see this:

What did you recommend me? open the bootloader and get into cyanogenmod to get 5.1, get the Google Play Edition, the official HTC 5.0.2 ....
And, as you know more than me, I will be able to do this with this "Test Device"??
Thank you very very much.

Your phone isn't a test device, it's only showing this message because the bootloader is s-off which is a good thing since someone really messed it: a M7_UL with a sprint M7_wls firmware (5.06.651.2)... The previous owner was obviously not an expert with htc phones if he did that. Will be easy to fix with soff by flashing the correct firmware or ruu. Then you'll be able to flash whatever you'd like

Ok thank you very much, I have 10 days to use the phone and maybe return it (ebay) but i think I will return it to him because the battery is running out on one day and when I use handsfree the other person doen´s hear me very well, I do not think it´s because of the Android version, what do you think?

Don't expect the battery to last more than a day even on a new m7. The problem with handsfree might only be a dirty mic, try to clean it with a tooth brush.
