Im having some problems with my gmail account syncing. It's quite odd...I have 3 accounts and 2 of the 3 are syncing fine. My main account which I have all my contacts etc stored, shows a "sync error" when I view my google accounts. At the bottom of the screen it says "Sync is currently expereiencing problems. It will be back shortly." It has said this for a few days now. The weird part is when I open the account, my App Data, Contacts, Drive, Gmail, and People Details, are all syncing properly. I think the problem might lie in the fact that there is not even an option to sync Google Calendar.
That brings me to part 2......whenever I open Google Calendar and try to add any event, the app crashes and says "Unfortunately, Calendar has stopped."
I have tried deleting the Calendar app and reinstalling, deleting the gmail account and re-logging in, cleared cached and data for Calendar app.
Not sure what else I can do, nor why the option to sync the Calendar is missing under accounts.
Any ideas?

I had something similar happen a couple of months ago. The only way I was able to correct it was to download another ROM and flash it (FWIW, it was not PURE). Not saying this will work for you, but.....

@mpgolfpro,
After thinking about what my previous problem was, it might be worth flashing a different gapps package first, before flashing a different ROM.

Now that you mention it, I think that might be the problem. I'm new to the world of android and I remember seeing about flashing gapps when I flashed the ROM. I chose not to flash gapps cause I didn't want to install some apps I wouldn't use. So I just downloaded the gapps I wanted from the play store. I guess maybe that can mess things up?

Not flashing the gapps is definitely your problem. Just downloading the calendar app won't fix your problem, I don't think. I would recommend that you flash at least one of the minimal gapps packages.

This recent change by Google may be related to your problem > https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/182343?hl=en
i also have also had a similar problem on PA Alpha 1 and CM12 with the google calendar app. When I try to create a new event and add either a location using "at..." or clicking "with.." the application always crashes with "Unfortunately, Google Calendar has stopped." Is there any way fix for this? I've had this problem for a while and thought an update would fix it.

Has anyone confirmed that (on CM nightly) that a full data wipe is absolutely necessary? i.e. just flashing the zip in recovery (without a data wipe) does not result in a fully functioning Google Wallet app, while performing the instructions in the OP yields success.

it forced closed before i wiped, after i wiped it works perfectly.
On a side note, i created a google prepaid card when i installed the wallet on stock. then when i installed wallet on CM#211 it did not "sync" my existing prepaid card, it said it was 'provisioning' one, makes me think i might have more than one prepaid card now, would love more info on this if anybody knows
Which google apps should we use?
Can anyone confirm if this is working on NSCollab? Thanks!

Awesome! worked as described. I will be running this for bit and will report any bugs. Thanks for prompt response.
edit: I've been running this heavily with bluetooth streaming and appears to be rock-solid. Only issues so far are some random force closes but a reboot seems to have cleared up most of the issues.
edit 2: I've had 1 soft reboot so far. I was streaming bluetooth, then made a call, then when call ended the phone soft rebooted. The phone loaded fine and was not stuck on logo.
edit 3: Small bug found. When root access is granted to a program, it takes me back to the setup section and NOT the last program that requested the root privilege. Also calendar and Google search have force closes. Ended up uninstalling calendar and reinstalling from backup. For Google search, just restored a backup which fixed the issue.

Are there any bugs I should know about? I want to run an AOSP/AOKP/CM-based ROM while on vacation this upcoming week. I don't want to deal with the stock ROM since it's so freaking slow and laggy.
One more question! Have you tested the battery life? If so, is it good, bad, the same?

There are not bugs that I have noticed and I have been running it for a couple of days... The battery is on par with all of the others... If you want even better battery search for code kernel on droidrzr. It is built for performance and battery life.
Never mind. I'm dumb. I figured it out.
Looks like a very nice ROM. Anyone know if dock line-level audio out (analog, over the USB port) works on this build?
Huh, just saw this thread.

Does Global function work?
I'm interested in flashing the ROM. I'm currently here in Taiwan on business and using GSM feature to run a local SIM card while I'm here. I am currently running Eclipse ROM 1.4 and it's pretty stable and the Global feature works. I don't want to flash if the feature is not available. If it is and no one tested, then I might give it a shot while I'm here. Thanks for porting another ROM :good:

Ok...so just flashed the ROM. The global function is working as the local sim card I'm using is recognized. I have a slight problem as I don't have any of the app menu icon on the screen. My rom loaded with a complete blank home screen, no widgits except for google bar. I can't seem to locate the feature to unhide the icons. Can you help with that? I currently can't add any widgets or even go to the app menu to long press them and add to my home screen. I've messed with the customization menu's but can't seem to find the setting. Also, I installed the Aug 11 build from the repository. I noticed there are 3 of them. I would assume the latest build was the one to load?

You are correct. I did a factory reset and everything came back up. Although it was glitchy with regards to app performance. I am using TWRP and only did the factory reset w/ advanced wipe. I found that doing a whole system format of the internal storage corrected the issues. Thanks.:victory:

This is how to sync your bookmarks to aosp browser from your Google account / Chrome bookmarks for CM12 and Aosp 5.0
Apk here https://www.dropbox.com/s/ewldrd9hdbznjkj/BookmarksSyncAdapter.zip?dl=0
1.Extract the zip and move the folder to system/apps.
2. Set the permission to the folder to rwxr-xr-x then go inside folder to the apk and set permission to rw-r--r-- then reboot.
3. Go to settings/ apps and over to all and clear data from the browser app.
4. Go to setting/ accounts/ google and check browser to sync.
5. Now open browser and allow it to sync to your Google account and your good to go

Should this work on any phone? I tried it on my S3 (i9300) and it fails to sync. I see the Browser Sync option in account settings, but it won't sync. I've set the permissions correctly. I must say that automatic account login in the browser doesn't work for me, so that could be an issue.

This was the latest I found
Tried it and followed it to the letter, but I keep getting "sync is currently experiencing problems etc.". I'm supposed to get a pop-up when enabling browser sync, that the browser want permission to access my google account? But this doesn't happen. When I start the browser, it does do the automatic google login, but it doesn't sync my bookmarks. I've deleted data from browser and from from bookmarksync and deleted the bookmarksyncadapter folder, and tried the whole thing again, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Nope, still not working. I get the automatic google account login when starting the browser, but when I check account settings, Browser still says failed. Someone else said that there should be a popup from within android asking to give browser permission to access my google account.
The weird thing is though it says: last synced 05/01/2015 13:29 ... this cannot have been on my phone, because I've switched to 5.0.2 before that and haven't had a working sync.
It's fixed ... I removed permissions for my phone in my google dashboard (it was listed numerous times because I am a flash monkey) and tried again, my phone had to reaquire permissions for eveything et voila, working sync.

app/BookmarksSyncAdapter/BookmarksSyncAdapter.apk or app/BookmarksSyncAdapter.apk depending on where you pushed it to.
It is easier than described in the OP

you wont be able to install it without root. it does not install like a regular app. you need to place it into either /system/app/ or /system/priv-app/ then reboot for it to install itself. stock you cant do that, with root you can.

I am curious why you want to update.
On my N6 Google app 4.1.29 etc is still working. Downgrade was necessary, else the Black Google Now launcher will become white instead of black.
Secondly I need to block Google app from updating.
Maybe you need to check your settings concerning auto updates.

updating it to 5.2 changes googles layouts for google now(more colorful and better tiles for info), and it changes your app drawerer to a side scrolling version, instead of the m up and down version. i changed mine yesterday to see what the big deal is. to be honest, google now looks much better.

I'll be honest to. I am using dpi 384. And the Black Google Now launcher. I love it and the drawer has also side scrolling.
I wish I had the power to kick Google's ass to make sure we get a marshmallow with a Light/Dark Material switch.
The problem did not dissapeared. I'd installed google app 5.2 manually and it works but in playstore it is still 5.1. Factory reset do not work
Playstore updated to new 5.9.11 and the problem solved. Thanks all. Please close the topic
If anyone out there can help me, I'd really appreciate it.
I have a Nexus 6, Verizon, running Pure Nexus 5.1.1 (screenshot below)
I've been getting this irritating message for weeks now, stating the "Layers Manager" can't update via the Google Play Store. I don't know how to fix this and it's become quite annoying every night when I update my apps before bed.
Screenshot of said problem below.
I'm by no means an expert at ROM management, but I went from rooted stock to this ROM because I got tired of the google security update not working, due to my being rooted. I really like this ROM and this is the only problem I've had with it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!

in the "what's new" section of the play page it says for error code 505 is caused when trying to update over the v4.3 beta #4 version being a system app. I can't remember 100% if pure nexus rom has it installed in such a way but essentially the error is fixed by uninstalling the old version and installing the new version.

Thanks so much for this tip.
I just tried uninstalling the app, but it won't let me. I went into apps-all-layers manager, but there is no uninstall option
yea since its error 505 its installed as a system app so you would need to use titanium backup or some other "debloating" tool to remove it. Make sure you backup your theme preferences inside the app so you don't have to resetup everything.
For titanium backup you would open the Backup/Restore tab and find the layers app in the list. First off hit the Backup! button so you'll have something to fall back on in case of problems, then hit the red Un-install button. It may ask for a confirmation. Then you should be able to go and install the google play updated version.

Trying this now, thank you.
Will post update.
**UPDATE**
I tried what you said and it worked!
I uninstalled Layers via Titanium and then tried to update via Play Store, but got the same error. So I rebooted the phone, then went back into Play Store and it installed. Hopefully this will be a fix in the future. I don't know what Layers even is. I don't ever use it.
Thank you so much for your help!

It's an app for installing layer themes.
