Motorola Droid 4 compatible with Cricket Wireless? - Motorola Droid 4

So I just bought a Droid 4, equipped with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 as stock. I thought it would be unlocked (as Verizon and Motorola have both told me that Droid does not come locked in the first place. This and its GSM lead me to believe it should work just fine with Cricket, but alas, it seems to not be the case; the Cricket test SIM wasn't recognized when I took it in.
As I've explored this, I've wandered across tons of sites and tutorials that are fore the most part outdated, since the device first came out in 2011, although it seems Motorola has been updating it along the way; this particular device is 4GLTE compatible.
Anyway. When I start into the Fastboot menu, it states that "the device is LOCKED." I don't know if that refers to the device's ability to be used cross-network, though.
Bottom line is can this device be flashed to be supported on the Cricket Wireless network? I'm not concerned about 3G data or anything; I don't care much for having the internet with me wherever I go. I basically only want talk, text, and wifi, when available. Is this possible at all?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

There are 2 different things that are referred to as locked.
Bootloader and radio band/sim
AP Fastboot is referring to the bootloader
What you need to know is about radio bands and GMS

I believe you need to do something like what is described in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25219819#post25219819
The Bionic, Razr, and Droid 4 are very similar devices
Should be a Droid 4 thread on this, but haven't seen it.

Thank you.
From what I can gather, it looks as if GSM unlock for LTE devices is simply not available in America.. Is that correct? The most recent forum post I could find was from December 2014, stating something to this effect. Have you any more updated information regarding this?

Master Thread for Radio/GSM Unlocking Discussion in America been awhile since I looked at that thread, guess no one ever got the droid 4 to work with US GMS networks.

[TWEAK] Increase Network Speeds By Using Sprint Spark [WIP]

I stumbled upon a thread in the N5 forums where they needed to go in and manually enable bands 26 and 41 on their devices in order to enable Sprint Spark (network speeds of 50-60mbps).
I followed their instructions on my S4 and low and behold, we have the LTE programming menu containing "enable band 26" and "enable band 41" in it. I have my MSL, so I tried to edit it, but every time I check the boxes to enable the bands, the settings don't stick.
I'm currently running TriForce 4.0 (4.3) and I have this option. I'm still working on a few things but thought some people could collaborate here so we can get this going. I don't see why our phones wouldn't support the new network. If it's a hardware limitation, someone please enlighten me.
EDIT: thread from N5 forums

I don't think the hardware is there to support it; that's why they are coming out with the SPH-L720T model which adds the two LTE bands (but loses VoLTE unfortunately).
This sort of thing has been done before... T-Mobile did something similar with the S3 - releasing a late variant which added LTE support.
I took the ota to 4.3...when I view my settings it shows band 26 and 41 already enabled.

Samsung can't have the device use those bands without having it approved by the FCC first so I went back to the FCC docs to see if Samsung sought band 26 and 41 support to the SPH-L720 since it was initially approved and they haven't. My guess is that the 720 and 720T may share the same firmware and that's why you are seeing that. Either that or they have started selling the 720T and that's the one you have (though I didn't think they did that yet).

Doh! That should have been "no support for SVLTE" instead of VOLTE. Sprint's network doesn't support VoLTE yet.
It doesn't lose VoLTE... VoLTE isn't hardware related its just any type of VOIP program but on LTE.. Or at least I think so

Correct. See the message right above yours (i.e. message #5).
luckily i am in a sprint spark market... i will definitely update everyone on this soon
but one thing i did notice is that when i click on it to enable, then go back to the same menu it unchecked itself. so the possibility isnt entirely there but we can hope right?

The topic of the post that was linked in the OP was for a Nexus 5. This is a Galaxy S4 forum section. Therefore you have to use the code ##3282# instead of *#*#3282#*#* on the S4. [Not Confirmed:] You also must be using the MJA modem in order to access these new bands.
Edit:
Go to this post to learn how to get your MSL.

What's the point of all this if the hardware in the current S4 variant can't support it? It's like putting a rocket engine button inside a Toyota Corolla. You can press it a hundred times but it still won't make flames come out the back of the car.
Im on Triforce 4.1 MJA and i do not see these band options. Yes i did ##3282# and i do have my msl.

Alright time to get in on this topic, I have a question. I have a sprint s4, im rockin the mja modem,on sac's 4.2 rom and have input the dialer code and do see band 26 and 41, I checked the boxes and when I did it went from [off] to [on] but once I back out and re-enter where these options are the boxes remain checked but state its [off].
So does this mean I enabled the bands, but at the moment there off cause I'm not in a area that supports these bands ? ( can't clarify weather I am in a area that supports these bands or not just guessed this is why this is happening).
Thanks in advance

Exactly. This thread makes no sense on this phone. The hardware doesn't support tri-band LTE.

Idk if that answer is directed at me or not but if so...I've changed a few things in this section (##3282#) a few times in the past such as ehrpd, multimedia, data profile and so on and have never saved my choices after making changes they've always just stuck.
Although saving them does make sense but there is no such option. If I were to press the settings button while in this menu nothing pops up? The choices I made do stick to a extent like turning on LTE the box stays checked and it does stay [on] but as for the bands...the boxes stay checked but don't stay [on].
(Screenshot attached).
Which brought me to To the conclusion that i enabled them but there currently off at the moment due to me not recieveing a signal from these bands due to me not being in a supported area..just a guess though, I can't confirm weather I am in a supported area or not.
NOTE:This isn't how these options are I cropped 3pics and made em into one fyi

Lol at activating bands on a phone that doesn't have them. :what:
Since I don't want to type something I've already written in the past I'll just leave a link to a similar discussion on another forum. Read my reply there at the end. It also applies here.

Wow! Very disappointing to hear but good to know that the phones you listed in the other thread are tri-band supported. I'll keep that in mind when I decide to upgrade my sprint s4.
So LTE and EHRPD is the most I'm gunna see out of this device huh....bummerrrr but I'm still happy with it just looking to get even more out of my device and my hands on but no worries.
Thanks again for clearing that up,

[Q] kit kat killed Activesync?

Sorry if this is a repeat.
I just got a Moto X on Verizon and the update to Kit Kat before I did anything. Now I can't get it to sync with my corporate email with the native email app or Touchdown. This all works fine on my GNEX with 4.2.2
Is this a known thing? Is there a work around or am I stuck waiting for Verizon to fix this?
The same happened for me. The 4.4.1 update fixed it for me just look in the nexus 5 forum and you should be able to find an exchange app that is updated(you'll prob need to be rooted)I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531268 this and it works fine now for me. I went through auto setup and it hung up. but manual setup worked fine. Only had to change the server URL to make work. Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for the confirmation. I know I can search for this, but I'm traveling all this week with little time.
I'm new to the Moto X. I don't have the developer version. Could you point me to a thread/site for unlocking the bootloader and rooting the VZW Moto X?
Thanks.

Oh, and I'd prefer to stick with Touchdown if possible. Is there any way to get 4.4.1 or 4.4.2 without just waiting for VZW to push an update out?
Thanks.
Same problem here. Could someone post the fixed, installable, email and exchange files from 4.4.2? I'm not rooted. Thanks.
You guys are going to have to do a little leg work here. I posted a link. You can try to install it like a normal app not sure if it will work or not. Only other way is going to be to root. This is xda after all come here to root and hack your device

fair comment borex. I'm back from my trip and will spend some time finding the root methodolgy for my device. I didn't come expecting to be hand-held, but sometimes the root for a device is common and well known (like my previous GNEX). I've been around the block a few times. I had the original Siemens MDA
Thanks for the help.

Thank you brorex!! That worked perfectly for me... This is much better than waiting for Motorola to push out new OS update with the fixes implemented!

No access to 3G and overheating during calls

Recently my phone randomly stopped being able to access my country's 3G network such that switching it to access GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto leads to the phone having no reception/signal at all. The only way to get any reception is to switch to 2G via GSM only and thus can only use EDGE data.
However if I call in GSM only or use the EDGE mobile network my phone starts overheating to the point where it will cross 65C when normally (before any of this started happening) it would not cross 34C.
My network provider has indicated several times that I am in fact supposed to be able to connect to the 3G network based on my account information and data settings. I've reflashed my ROM (Android Revoluation 41) but to no avail. Is there any other thing I can try to do? Would installing a completely different ROM or flashing a different radio help?
I would just run a RUU and see what happens.
If that doesn't fix it, it'll probably be hardware related. Although, I've never seen or heard of anything Ile this before.

I've already flashed a completely different ROM, radio and kernel in addition to using my sim in a different phone (the 3G works there). I might as well shell out the money to buy a new phone it seems as sending to HTC might be hit or miss.
EDIT: I've also noticed that using 2G or calling causes my phone battery's amperage to increase from aroung 800-900 mA (when nothing is being used) to over 2000 mA with just the 2G on (and doing nothing)/calling.

Network connectivity issue

Facing network connectivity issue on nexus6 here in India some time network loss automatically.
Having similar issues running almost any ROM after doing a full data/dalvic/cache wipe. Currently running Slimrom 2.2 on att and I get no service. At first it was cutting in and out, but now I just get nothing.
This has been ongoing problem with the entire Nexus line that is being research by both XDA and Google
