I got a secondhand Xperia T a couple of months ago. The phone was originally bought in 2012 in Ireland. The phone is now unlocked to any network.
Friday two weeks ago the phone stoped working. What happened was, the battery was on around 15%. By the time i got round to charging it it had gone flat. After plugging it into the wall charger for around half hour the solid red light was on indicating charging but the phone wouldnt turn on. I left it for a while but it was still the same. I notcied that when i pressed the unlock button the screen would slightly light up but no picture. the phone could recieve texts and calls but i couldnt see anything. I took it to my nearest phone specialist. He tried re installing the software but had no luck. He said it was bricked. I then gave it to my uncle who is usually nifty with these sorts of things. He also came back and said it was bricked. I then did some reading of my own and came across the advise to re install soft ware through pc companion. I did that and it said it was successful but the phone was still the same.
Last night i was following the repair thread on here (cant find link right now)
The problem i had was i didnt know witch stock ftf file i need to download or where to download from.
Can someone give me a link to an irish stock ftf and give me a quick run throuhg of how to fix
P.s. This is whats happening with the phone now:
When plugged into the wall charger I get a green light, that goes out after a few seconds then the changes to red and proceeds to charg normally.
Phone still vibrates, and receives calls.
When the on button and + or - vol are pressed it vibrates like its supposed to but then nothing happens
If it still receives calls and you've already used PCC to repair the software and it said successful then its clearly not bricked... I'd suggest start looking for a replacement screen.

and is it common for screens to just brake out of no where, without hitting or dropping the phone.?

I've had that happen to a laptop a few years ago. Came out of the wintery -10°C outside into the balmy 25°C of a friends home, 2 minutes later I took the laptop iut of the frozen bag and the temp shock was enough to crack the screen.
So yes, it's possible, but with shrinking screen size the probability of this decreases.
I don't know where you're from, but (winter) weather can be an electronics killer. Especially when the device is heating up rapidly after being brought out of the cold into a warm house or car. Rapid temp shifts can lead to cables moving out of their connectors, solder joints cracking and air moisture can condensate and move into delicate electronics
i live in ireland, it is probally 5'c at night in my house where the phone was and it wouldnt be much warmer in the car and then in work, so i dont see that being the problem, especially since it has been colder and had no effect on the phone

Well no its not common, but neither are bricked phones that receive calls, SMS and successfully take a software repair
I stand by what I said but if you want to try flashtool take any stock rom you like just follow the guide. They all have all languages so I'd go for generic CE1 if you want unbranded and CE2 if you want Skyfall theme these are new 4.3 ones. You could even apply a older 4.1 and let it update from that if your region is even out yet.
alright ill try that later then, whats the difference between branded and unbranded.?
also can you link a stock rom for me
Hi Guys; I recently got my new 2nd Generation Moto G but after setting it up and using it for 20 minutes or so I noticed that sometimes while scrolling through settings, contacts and webpages, that when i am swiping over a horizontal band in the exact center of the screen, the sensitivity of that region of the screen becomes very unreliable and the phone will often interpret scrolling as a press. While scrolling in my phonebook it has a tendancy to call people, when browsing the web it has a tendancy to press links i never wanted it to, and this same behaviour is repeated regardless of what application i am in.
It certainly seems to be more frequent and prominent while I am charging the phone, regardless of the charge current. I have charged it from my pc, 1000ma wall adapter and 850ma wall adapter; all with the same results.
Sometimes turning the screen off and on again can rectify this, but its usualy back again in no time
I have tried factory resetting the phone, with the screen protector both on and off, while on charge and off charge and while making sure nothing else could be interfering with the touch screen i.e., a case.
I only got this phone from ebuyer in the UK 3 days ago, 2 days earlier than it was actually ment to come! so its a real shame im having these problems, I've already spoken to Motorola about it and they have advised me to RMA the phone as they cant give me a definitive answer as to wether or not this is a Hardware or Software issue.
Has anyone else been having issues similar to those that I have experienced with their own new Moto G devices
I would RMA, mine is fine.
my moto(2014) has the same touch screen issues while phone is on charging. unresponsivene & its very annyoing. hpns only whn ph is charging

Check u r charger or wall socket. its becoz of voltages issue.
ohh okk thnx guyz i was using samsung charger.

Unfortunately my phone displays this behaviour both on and off the charger. It does however display the issue more frequently while on charge.
The chargers I'm using are all 5v which is typical of a phone charger. I have one at 850ma which charges painfully slow, I have another at 1000ma which charges much more quickly. And I use my Computers USB ports to charge at times, no matter how I charge the phone the problem remains.
Sometimes it will work fine for an hour or so then it will go insane on me. I have requested RMA with ebuyer. Had the phone only showed this issue on charge I may have been contempt with it, but the problem can happen anywhere, anytime and for a brand new phone that's not acceptable.
@ xDDen: have you tried charging the phone from any other source besides the Samsung charger you have?
yes now am charging with moto g's charger and it is working fine now without any issues

Mine actually didn't come with a charger. I was a bit surprised, but checking the Amazon page (for Germany, since I bought it here, though not from amazon) reveals that this seems correct/intentional. It did include the usual µUSB cable though (and it's not like I don't have enough USB chargers).
For completeness sake: I don't have the described problem, no matter if plugged in or not...
Touch issue
I'm using Moto G 2014 charger only and still facing issue bringing down notification panel.
Also i face issue when trying to unlock phone via pattern lock.
Flipkart offering me a replacement- Shall i go for it?
Been having a problem with the screen, mainly on the back soft button part of the screen, keep finger on it and it multi presses like a mad thing, doesn't happen all the time though, was driving me crazy. took off the Ultimate Shield screen protector and the problem went away, put the shield back on and the problem didn't come back, then couple of hours later (today) I got the ota update and the screen goes mad again, took shield off again and the problem continued, a few minutes later and it's all fine again. now (a few hours later) still all is fine.
Problem is I was all ready for doing a RMA to Amazon.co.uk for it, stuck on what to do now as if I send it back and they find no fault.

Same issue here, but without any screen protector. OTA update hasn't changed anything. Sometimes it works and sometimes the screen recognizes double/triple taps where it should be only one...

Well the touch screen issues got way too much for me so I returned the phone to Amazon uk and got a refund, bought another moto g from Argos the same day I returned it and I'm glad I did, everything is ok with the new phone, no screen issues at all.
Moto G 2014 Tocuh Screen issues
Same issue here.
Bought phone 1 week ago from Argos. Initially fine, then suddenly cant use the swipe down notification bar.
Turned on the Show Touch indicator in Developer options and it clearly shows that the screen is registering the touches about 0.5cm down the screen from where I am touching. So you can never hit the notification bar when its doing that. I found that turning the screen off with the power button and then back on again usually clears the problem.
In the UK the phone only comes with a USB cable, so I use a variety of chargers.
I think mines going back as not functioning properly
I also having same issue you should post your emei. It might be I purchased defective from one of previous user having same issue. I'm at Singapore.

Me too! I am very sorry to learn that it is a hardware problem.
I'm afraid to take it to the service center because the problem is intermittent and technicians could not detect it .
Any of you have solved?
If it was a hardware problem we could try asking a kind of compensation, I don't know, some free accessories, or maybe the change of the device...
Had a problem with mine, it would go mental pressing the back softkey, press it once and it would just keep doing it by itself, so a problem with lower left of the screen, sent it back to Amazon for refund and got another one from Argos, this one is mostly alright with the screen touches but will sometimes do a double press or think a press is a swipe anywhere on the screen, it's not been so bad that I kept it, but now other problems like the memory shortage making apps close is starting to really get to me, also the screen rotation get stuck in landscape now and then, even it sometimes goes to landscape by itself.
In the process of getting a different phone as this is starting to annoy too much.
Being new to Sony Xperia phones in particular and Android in general, are there any "standard fixes" for when a phone seems to be dead?
After routinely putting the phone to sleep with about 35% battery capacity left, I now can not rouse the phone, nor charge it.
Long press (20 seconds) of power button was my first try. Pressing the yellow reset button in the compartment with the SIM was next. Neither had any effect. Tried a recommendation I read to press the power button and volume down button. Nothing. Charging via the wall wart on mains power and via computer USB port seems to be not working as well -- at least no notification light is on. I will leave it plugged in for a few hours to see what happens, JIC.
Any other things I should try before taking it back to the Sony store? Not sure the stores here in Thailand even take back defective phones as they are not bona-fide Sony stores. They are licensed resellers.
I bought the phone on 18-October-2014, and have not done any rooting or "modding," just normal (?) user actions like adding a few apps and making a few calls.
I think you've done everything to get the phone up and running, take it back to the shop and ask for a replacement or your money back. That would work in uk not sure about where you are?
Thanks. I was hoping there was some esoteric ritual I could perform.
I'm going to wait a day or so to see if it resurrects, like a few people have reported. If it remains unresponsive, I'll try the store. I also seem to recall seeing a Sony repair center someplace.
Same problem
Great, you're not alone out there.
I got my Sony Z3 Compact on the 25th of October. Also didn't do any unsupported things with it. No unlocking, no rooting or tweaking. Only original apps from App Store.
After long-pressing the on/off button, I selected the restart option on the screen. Then everything just stopped. A brick.
Tried power+volDown (nothing happens), tried USB connecting to Sony flash tool "Emma" (nothing happens when connecting to a PC, basically the same as not connecting a cable to anything, device manager doesn't find any device connected), tried yellow hard-power button. Nothing happens - a complete brick. Even after connecting a charger, the light does not come up. The battery was almost full (about 90%) at the moment of disaster.
Gotta carry it to the service.
Did you fix your brick?
Phoneless in Thailand
No, I couldn't revive my phone. I took the phone to the Sony-licensed store where I bought it and they wouldn't replace/refund it. They only replace within seven days of purchase, and I went to the store on day #11. (The phone bricked on day #9, but I waited a full 24-hour period to see if letting the battery drain further might help.)
Took the phone to the "Sony Service Center" which is only a collection center to send damaged goods to Bangkok, a two-hour drive up the road. I should expect to hear from them in "three to four weeks." Having lived in Thailand for as long as I have, that translates to "You'll be lucky to have your phone back by New Years Day." Considering they should get the phone within a day, they must have a LOT of damaged products in queue if I can't even get a status report for at least three weeks.
Hope you have better luck.
Luckily I got my brick replaced on 12th of November. So far so good - the new Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is working and I love it. Hope you will also meet your beloved soon...
As we all know, the phone is pretty darn well put together and surprisingly durable. But, unfortunately, it is not invincible. About a month and a half ago I cracked my screen. The phone had a case, but it wasn't anything hefty (the HTC Double Dip case). The phone was still completely usable, but I like the phone and wanted to keep it nice so I decided to replace the screen. I ordered the screen + framework assembly and it was about $55. In the past when I have replaced screens on a few iPhones and an ASUS tablet the parts were quite a bit cheaper, but whatever. My phone is the black model, but I decided to try something different and ordered the new part with red speaker grills. Most guides and such said that the M7 is a pretty hard phone to repair, but I have worked on a couple other phones before, so I gave it a go. After many, many hours of carefully prying apart the phone and transplanting the logic boards to the new screen framework I put it all back together and powered it up. To my surprise the phone powered up and the screen worked fine. (And let me tell you the red and black looks damn good). The first thing I noticed was that vibration didn't work. A bit annoying, but the phone looked good enough that I could get past that. Next I tested the speakers and noticed that at full volume the speakers sound a little bit messed up. Again, a little annoying, but I'm not a professional so I wasn't overly disappointed. Then came the real problem...
THE REAL PROBLEM:
When I put the SIM card in the phone didn't detect it. After a reboot it still didn't detect it. After a factory restore it still didn't detect it. Perhaps the ribbon cable connecting the SIM reader to the board was not all the way secured? After how hard it was to take the phone apart the first time I was not a fan of the idea of doing it again. But alas, the next day I opened the phone back up super carefully so not to damage the new parts. It was thankfully a little bit easier the second time. I made sure the SIM reader was all the way connected, but the phone still wouldn't read the SIM. I pulled the old SIM reader out from the old screen framework assembly and plugged it into the board, but the SIM was still not detected, indicating that the new screen did not come with a bad SIM reader. Has this problem happened to anyone else? What steps should I take? I now have really nice looking M7 that is essentially useless.
So does anyone have input on this?

Same thing happened to me. Also swapped out the old reader without any luck.... Any update on this?
Does it detect it at all? Like ask for the pin code if you use that?
Do you have to disconnect the battery when replacing the screen on this phone? I know on some phones I repaired I had to manually set the current time and date (resets to year 1970 or something like that if you disconnect the battery) to get a signal.
Otherwise I have no idea
Recieved my mi5 yesterday and used it for about 15-20 minutes (just playing around with MIUI), turned the screen on and off multiple times but suddenly the screen wouldn't turn back on I rebooted the phone (hold power button) but nothing happend when turning it back on.
the capacative buttons and charging LED works as well as volume up and down (I can hear the volume change sound). After about 4 hours it suddenly worked again and I thought it was fixed (it was not), I booted into fastboot and unlocked my device but when I try to turn it back on the screen was dark again, and after several hours it still doesn't work.
There are other people with the same problems but I don't think anyone has been able to fix it.
Has anyone else encountered this? If so, did you fix it? I thought I'd should mention it anyway.
same problem..no FIX !!
Few months ago I also received a 32gb device and had exactly the same issues you mentioned. First with MIUI and locked bootloader, then unlocked and tried 3 different Rom's, MIUI 7, 8 and Lineage OS. No difference.
IMHO a common hardware issue on some devices, mine has a LGD Display. Meanwhile I got another one, which is working fine, but have this faulty one still here, for spare parts right now
Would help if someone could state whether this issue is screen or motherboard related, so I could maybe replace parts and use or sell.
Sometimes it went completely off, no capacitive buttons, no volume sound, no reboot possible. But battery not empty. Had to disconnect battery or wait one night until it would respond again.
Also observed less black screens in warm surroundings, had more problems being outside in winter.

hope the warranty over tradingshenzhen works fine...

Want to share following with people who experienced also blackscreen issues with Mi5:
lately needed an identical Mi5 device to recover some apps from another device and decided to try with this "damaged" one from last year. Fastboot flashed Miui9, then wiped, installed latest TWRP and LineageOS 15.1. Did my backup/recover tasks. Then I just kept using the phone, because I was curious how long it takes until the blackscreen issues would appear but they didn't.
Device is working without any screen issues now since a week or so Seems like new firmware has fixed something, at least for my device.
