Get xposed to work without soft boot? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Couldn't find anything on this, but apparently people are having success installing xposed framework on the nexus 6 without having to soft boot every time to get the modules to work.
If anyone has had any success with this, could you please provide the process how to.
Thanks

Install lean kernel and use lkconfig to force permissive.

In the thread about xposed, there is a flashable zip. Worked for me on elemental.

I usually prefer Franco but it seems in his quest for insane battery life he has somehow sacrificed performance on this phone as the UI is a little more stuttery. Does have better battery though. Also with that flashable zip above, I tried it, but the hack never seemed to launch in time for xposed to see it and I would have to soft reboot anyway. The lean kernel method works great and its an awesome kernel.

There's elementalx kernel too, which is great. There's a whole thread in N6 general about what you can try.

Go into settings, apps, then select move app to phone. Simple.

2 things.
1. This is an old thread and was due to the requirement for SELlinux permissive on an old alpha of xposed
2. Nexus 6 does not have an sd card slot, ergo, the ONLY place for apps is "phone" anyway

Not working for me. Anyone get it to work on the N6?
Nobody with an N6 has reported it working so far in the Xposed thread. Kinda frustrating that the most important Android phone out is the only one that can't seem to get it going.
Rovo89 says, Note that this is still an alpha version and for Lollipop on ARMv7+ devices only. Please install it only if you're willing to take the risk of boot loops. Just because it's working fine and stable for me doesn't mean it will work for everyone the same way.

There's a second upload that works on the n6. Check the op. But it only works after a soft reboot for me, if I do a full reboot it won't work.

See thread in n6 general. Yea you have to soft reboot to have xposed run after you are in permissive mode for selinux. Its the only way right now. If you full reboot, xposed runs before selinux is permissive
Would love to have it was excited now disappointed. Owell guess I'll wait it out along with everyone else

That's likely your kernel not allowing it to write to system. I could be wrong though but this happened to me on jellybean.

You don't need a second link download the two files. Download selinux make sure you set permissions to permissive. Boot into recovery flash framework, boot up install xposed, reboot into recovery again install framework. If it does not active do a soft reboot in xposed

What modules are actually working on our gadget please?
I got RootCloak working. To verify this I opened Soft Card before Xposed was installed and it detected root. After Xposed was installed, I then installed RootCloak, checked the box in modules, added Soft Card in the app. Then I went back to Xposed and did a soft reboot. Then I rechecked Soft Card and it worked!

It works, but I did not get the results I wanted. It may be the way lollipop handles things, but i tried to get the tablet style settings by picking a high resolution and it worked but was all crammed in the middle. So...the xposed module works, but lollipop may give you some trouble.

anyone deodexed tmobile stock rom?

Has anyone deodex and successfully installed a stock system image yet? I haven't tried this yet but I am thinking of giving it a shot sometime soon. I was wondering if there were any potential issues of doing this such as wifi calling or what not. The reason I'm doing this is because I'm s-off'd and I'm hoping a deodexed system will allow xposed to successfully work.

Any luck? A deodexed rom would be a huge help for the development community to work on this phone, especially with WiFi calling and voice over lte.
I made a flashable zip, but forgot to change permissions on the apk's on it. It still booted up into android and then android performed it's "upgrading" function at startup and then it rebooted into a bootloop. I had to go somewhere so I ended up flashing back my backup and have not gotten back to it since then as I just got home. I'll try it some more tomorrow or over the weekend.
Any luck on the deodex process? If you need a tester, I'd be glad to help.

Hi,
No I haven't had time to work on it any further. I am using a mac so the deodex arm64 tools are all in windows so that's been one challenge, but I was able to do some of that work on my work laptop. The other issue is that I am having trouble getting my updater binary to work. It's failing in TWRP. I'm going to set up a linux environment and install archikitchen when I have more free time, but I've been pretty busy lately.
For whatever reason, I was able to get my original zip to install and reboot and even do the android upgrading function, but then it rebooted into a bootloop. I revised the script to set permissions properly, but then it just fails updating. Sighs.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I made a few different attempts at system images but all cause bootloops. I may have to try re-doing the deodex part again, but I used my own zip and script as well as one generated by ArchiKitchen and all caused bootloops, so it's probably my deodex files failing. Will try again when I have more free time.

Yeah deodexed roms take considerably longer then odexed roms. I think I clocked 19minutes from the time I rebooted from recovery till android was done optimizing.

Did you ever get your deodexed rom to work, or did you give up on that after getting the one posted by @Steel25? I've deodexed mine using the same tool as you, but now I'm stuck on how to get it to install on my device. All of the info that seems to be out there for this pertains to 32 bit roms, and doesn't seem to work on this one. I really appreciate the one provided by @Steel25, but I also really want to accomplish this myself. If someone can help me do this please post or link or PM me. Thank you in advance.

I am currently just using the ROM that @steal25 posted. I tried several things and for whatever reason, I couldn't get it working except for my initial time but that restarted into a bootloop. Archikitchen also doesnt have a deodexer for lollipop, so if there's a some info on what would work let me know.
A lot of things have happened in my personal life that has taken up a lot of my time so I dont have too much time to tinker around with this stuff lately.
I am currently using the one posted by @Steel25 with Xposed using Xtended settings, and everything is working well. My only complaint is that the cores 4-7 can only be clocked to a maximum of 1.5GHZ. However, I am still searching for a way to properly deodex the stock rom and make it installable.

[Q] Xposed working on Nexus 6 5.1.1 Stock?

Hello,
I am wondering if the latest Xposed version is working fine on N6 5.1.1 Stock ROM. I have never tried Xposed on Lollipop since the official version doesn't support it.
Wondering if anyone using it can shine some light on the installation procedure. The Permissive thing is required or not?
Thanks
Yes it works. Flash the zip and install the apk. Nothing more to it than that. Just take a backup first. Permissive is not required.

Some modules don't play nice together. I can't speak about that particular combination, but it happens.
I've got both Greenify and Amplify installed (stock 5.1.1, unencrypted with Franco kernel). My N6 has never been snappier, no lag whatsoever. Was actually a little surprised at how smooth it feels after I flashed 5.1.1.

Well then am not sure why mine was lagging. Now I unencrypted my phone by flashing Elemental X and formatting userdata. Then Xposed gave troubles of low system space, fixed it by wiping cache and dalvik.
Haven't installed Greenify or Amplify after but still the system isn't as snappier as it was when it was just stock rooted with custom kernel. Any tips or modules you guys can suggest to make it more snappier?

As far as I know, you need to set your SELinux to Permissive for Amplify to work properly.
Download & Flash the attached ZIP file. Then reboot, open Xposed and reenable the Amplify module and do a Soft Reboot.

This would be an easy way, install the attached APK and use it. You can use it to toggle the Permissive/Enforcing option. Make sure you give it ROOT permission if it asks.

You will need something to switch it to either enforcing or permissive. Which ever one it calls for. Not all roms are set the same. Never found a use for it myself but there is a thread in the apps and themes section.

Some say it makes it less secure but to be honest the rom I run has it set to permissive so that the built in theme engine works and I have never had an issue. Mind you I dont do alot with my device really. Just the normal. Calls, SMS and work stuff. The rest of the time is sits in my pocket.

No you need root to change the settings or running a custom kernel

Does anyone have working Xposed module on rooted Stock rom (S251) for Lenovo P2?

Dear xdains,
My Lenovo P2 is running Android N stock rom (S251_ROW) and rooted systemlessly with Magisk.
I can run pretty much any root app on the phone except xposed module. I've tried all different versions of xposed. I have installed latest Xposed installer. Tired it via TWRP's zip flashing, tried it via in-app installation, tried version 88.1, 88.2 for SDK24 and even version 89. However, every time phone gets stuck on boot animation screen.(blue dots on white background).
My main intention of installing Xposed is to change the default (boring) system animation. (Transition effect).
I've even tried stratum but only can make few cosmetic changes but touching the transition animation bricks the phone.
I didn't get any solution apart from flashing an AOSP based ROM or Lineage ROM etc.
I don't want to go for any custom ROM because isn't the whole point of rooting is to gain full control over the phone and make the current system work as we wish?
So, any expert, please tell me why does the stock ROM doesn't support Xposed? I mean, technically what is preventing it? What files should be modified to support Xposed on stock ROM?
If anyone knows any way to make xposed module work on Lenovo P2's latest stock rom S251 or to change transition animation/effect on the same, please let the community know.
Thanks.
