is it possible? i am pretty fed up with all these listing of "refurbs" where i end up having to pray for it to be fully functional. i'm returning my 3rd attempt at getting a fully functional droid 4 like the first one i purchased that was in pretty scratched up but worked just fine. all these 3 attempts have had one form of connection issues: no lte baseband, constant connection drops, lost data as soon as i touch it.
i read some of the Q&As from the listings on amazon and it seems like they are all used even if its listed as "new" so im losing faith here.

Couple of weeks ago I've bought on Ebay two Droid 4 (one for me and one for my friend). The auction says "Mint condition" and phones doesn't have any scratches at all. After this couple of weeks I can say that they work in 100% and I've tested almost everything, calls, data, sensors, wifi, screen, buttons. I've flashed safestrap and some customs roms, patches, kexec kernel, overclock modules and lot of apps. In total I've spend 170 USD on this two phones (with shipment charges ofcourse).

does this seller still have more? do you have the link? i purchased from http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorola-DR...832?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27e4f78370 and http://www.ebay.com/itm/REFURBISHED...363?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item566ee74b83
the first link was the one i originally bought that worked fine however it was pretty scratched up and the ear piece did not work well which i could forgive because i can just use earphones. after that one i died i purchased from the same seller but the one i got had connection issues (5 bars of LTE in the morning and 5KB/s transfer rate with constant "errors") so i returned it and bought from the 2nd link which had a missing LTE baseband but looked like new so i tried again and the one i have now drops connection usually when i wake it up. the image is from my trip to the verizon store yesterday and all the red lines are connection drops
im just kind of desperate at this point

Well, I cannot say much about LTE because I live in Europe and I'm using GSM.
I've bought those:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MINT-CONDIT.../251819221619?ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:PL:3160
as long as its got the lte baseband it shouldnt matter. my first working device downloaded up to 2.7MB/s. the one i have now gets 3.5MB/s when it doesnt drop connection
seems like you got lucky with that deal but the listing ended already

Maybe you can email this guy and ask him does he have any more Droids? He seems to run a store.
I have a droid 4 that is in good working condition, pm me and we can discuss. I haven't used it since getting my nexus 4, and want it to go to a good home. I also have the vehicle mount, case, and screen protectors.
I actually bought a Droid 4 off of Amazon (in case my current one bites the dust - had a bit of a hardware scare). It doesn't look like it's been previously used... I haven't booted it up, so I can't tell for sure, but it looks brand new, to be honest. No scratches, smudges, dents, anything.
Granted, they aren't manufacturing these phones, anymore, so it was probably from whatever extra they have left.
i ended up ordering another droid 4 off a different seller on ebay. all the feedback left by others say their droid 4's were good so im putting faith in this one

I'm considering buying the refurbished Tilt from ATT premier. Are those any good? if problems, are they just something flashing can fix, or hardware?
I'd like to get some feedback, is it alright to take advantage of the refurbished deal.
Just picked one up.
Bought one last week with a little trepedation after reading some of the threads regarding ATT sending refurbs to replace defective units after 30 days. But for a $150, it was worth taking a look.
Got it in, checked it out and could'nt tell it from new. YMMV!
Glad I got it!
Tom
Referbished ATT Tilt
I just got mine two days ago and could not be happier with it. No signs of referb....looks new to me. Premier price after $25 discount = $125. No brainer.
It's a mixed bag. Refurb can mean many things. It could be a phone that someone bought, used for 10 minutes, and decided they didn't like it. Or it could be a phone that had problems. Either way they are returned to "factory settings" and then relisted for a discounted price. I have heard many stories of people getting a refurb phone and it working flawlessly. But there are also those, myself included, who have had problems with refurbs.
It basically comes down to the luck of the draw. Even if something is wrong with it initially, you can always return it for another one.

I am pretty sure besides returning it to factory settings, they also repair/replace whatever was wrong with them. I couldn't swear to this, but it just wouldn't make any sense if they didn't. If a hard reset would have fixed the problems it was having, it doesn't seem like it would have needed to be replaced, since hard reset is one of the steps you have to go through before they will replace your phone. ATT claims (I've asked them on the phone), that refurbs are repaired, and tested thoroughly.
With that said, I have had problems with BOTH brand new Tilt, as well as refurbed ones. So, I say yes, definitely try the refurb out, you will likely get the same quality as the new ones, which means f you are lucky, you will get a good one, if not you can exchange (same goes for the new ones).
All the refurb ones I have received from ATT have looked cosmetically new. In fact, they look so new, I wonder if they replace the housing on them. Not one has had even a tiny scratch.
got two myself, i agree, they probably replace the case. these are to replace the two 8125s in the house. what roms are you guys rolling with?
bought the wife a refurb about a week ago...its flashed and screaming like new...couldnt even tell its a refurb...and for 150..why not?
I got mine 2 weeks ago and it looked brand new when I got it. I'm still figuring which rom I like and the SNES emulators are slow, other than that its a cool gadget.

Nothing wrong with them. If you have a problem return it. Matter of fact... FLASH Hard SPL/a new ROM as soon as you get it.. I bet its already been done on the phone...
Nothing wrong with refurbs.
do u brought them off from the att website?
I got one after my original NEW one died. Can't tell the difference...works fine. Sprite backup is a lifesaver. Restored to refurbished one almost perfectly. Just had to re-input some registration codes and fix email (app to do that).
I got one last week. Innitially was planning to sell it and continue using my flashed 8125 but just couldn't do it.
The first one i got had a stuck pixel, so did an exchange and got another one. I did a little bit of complaining, so they overnight the replacement to me.
and also, according to the rep that i spoke to, these come with a 1 year warranty, so for $150 and still a 1 year warranty.......you just cant go wrong with that.
Reassuring
Okay, Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll order the premier refurb today! Is it wise to wait until warranty expire to flash/mod, or can I just dive in? after reading more about flashing/upgrading of course.
150$?
Ok, looking at picking up a refurb'd tilt, looks sweet.
I see the 150$ price, but only if I sign up for a 2 year contract...?
Is everyone on here signing a 2 year contract? or am I missing something?
Refirb is a mixed barrel. You will get some that were used/abused and then flashed and re-cased... other returns could simply be "It's not for me" with almost no usage...
However, some retailers have a "No Open Box" policy on phones, if its returned after a 5 minute call it's returned to the vendor -- It's mostly a legal issue, since it could have someone's private data/contact list loaded and unprotected -- this policy ensures they are not responsible if that gets out after the Manufacturer wipes it.
I bought a refurbished tilt. I was pretty apprehensive about it. but I figured, hey, I spent $360 on my 8125 and that was used from eBay, so...why not $150 on something that comes with a guarantee from AT&T?
Other then the sticker on the screen looking like it had been removed and replaced, there was no indication that anything about it was used externally. Inside, under device information, it counted 15 min for incoming calls and 36 min for outgoing calls. That's all. Maybe someone used it and found it too difficult? Or maybe they tried using a BT headset and promptly returned it because the BT stack SUCKS. my only real complaint about the Tilt and that has zero do it with it being refurbished.
My first Tilt had a very obviously defective keyboard, every key surrounding the right soft key didn't work and the softkey itself was raised up so high it would press itself most of the time when closed.
My second one has been good!
BTW, I've used 3 PCs, two headsets, and 1 GPS and no bluetooth problems. The only problem I've had is that I've discovered that if the Tilt is powered down (screen off... not totally powered down) sometimes the headset doesn't pair up, so I just hit the power button on the Tilt then on the headset, wait for the confirmation beep a few seconds later, then turn the Tilt back off.
They are on the regular site for $99.00 as of this morning. You have to click on the bundles or packaged deals. Don't just select the phone.
I've got my Nexus One, in pretty much fantastic condition. Zagg cover since day one and no major issues.
It does have the common bug where screen becomes unresponsive when you connect a charger to it but I was told that there's no fix for that.
It's got a few extras: screen protector, cover, UK adapter, cleaning cloth
Bought in April, then 3 weeks later I got the Desire so this has been sat around doing nothing much.
I'm looking to get rid of it now, but have no idea what it's worth. I don't plan on selling it on here but just want to know if someone can give me an idea of how much I can expect for it!
Thanks in advance
well my N1 never had that common bug. I checked again after your post and nothing as you described.
For excellent condition and unlocked, I would say on average in the range of £240-270. For brand new, £290-320. If the bug is very noticeable prob in the range of £180-220 ( few noticeable dents and marks). £250 is the sweet spot for most N1 in good condition. Try Hotdeals Uk.
Thanks, I was certain that I'd read something like that on Modaco, maybe it was something else then.
If it is faulty hardware then I should be able to get it fixed as it's still in warranty. If not I'll list for the cheaper price you said.
I guess the first step is to start using the phone again for a couple of days and see if that issue's still there
Thanks for the help, at least I've got an idea of how much to expect for it
Well I (6 weeks or so ago) sold a brand new, in box, Nexus one on eBay to a chap in Ireland for £325.
Also, might be worth considering unlocking the boot-loader and flashing a popular Rom and adding that in to the selling notes. The normal people love words like "Unlocked" and so on. I bet you could reach the same kind of price if you sell it well (even if it is used).
Dude, YOU CANT SELL nexus one. Because its best phone. I dont thing you want to just quit mobiloty or you want to?
Since the phone is two years old at this point, I'm wondering it would not be prudent to get a used one. They're going for $100 on eBay, my concern is that the not exactly stellar battery life will have detoriated to an unusable point.
Can anyone chime in with their experiences? Insight?

iv had good luck buying used phones for ebay, just thoroughly test as soon as you get it, ebay has buyer protection if your not satisfied with it all you will be out is time and effort, you have 45 days to return it even used
I bought one of those phones from eBay for ~$100. The first one's camera worked occasionally. I'm now using the replacement and it's working. The battery is pretty good. It's gotten me through the day, and I've been downloading a lot of apps. I was able to root it this weekend, but it was tough. It reminded me of my Droid 2 days... Too bad the bootloader is locked.
Just thought i would post my experience with Motorola customer service. 6 months ago i did an "advanced exchange" with them and received a new device as the first one burned up the WiFi chip. No real issues there. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and my volume down button just stops working. Call in and get so much run around it was crazy. It all stemmed from they said that my IMEI number was not in their system. Well i got news for them, they sent me the darn device with that IMEI. I spent probably a total of 4 hours on the phone and two different times they said it would take a few days to add. Only the second time did it actually happen. So yesterday i received second exchange device and the first thing out of the box the wireless charger doesn't work. Call back today and they say i have to pay for another "advanced exchange".
Made me mad enough i just went and bought a N6P and am saying so long to Motorola.

It is just my curiosity. But when the N6 does not charge at all, I wonder if M send you a new device. Within the warranty period M is obliged to fix the problem.

I dont really understand your question...... but yes the device is under warranty. They should honor that by sending me a new one. I am mostly mad they sent me a broken one and want me to pay for them to send another.

When the device is under warranty, you do not have to accept. Maybe the costs of transportation could be yours (warranty conditions). I think you should try again. We all pay for warranty, so don't give up.
I'm not exactly following you. They sent me another device that was broken when I took it out of the box. Now they want 25 more dollars to exchange that one.

I don't know about the specific warranty conditions. But it seems reasonable to me that Motorola must deliver you a 100% working device.
The costs of transportation to send the device back to M. is a different point. When the warrenty conditions does not mention who is responsiblefor the transportation costs, than IMO you have to pay.
Excellent choice mate. Hope Huawei doesn't turn you off as well. Although if I was in your shoes I wouldn't let them off that easily.

I'm seeing poor support from them as well. I tried calling in to get my broken screen fixed and couldn't understand a thing the lady was saying to me and she couldn't understand me either. I ended up doing the online repair request, said it was a free repair with a 4 day turn around. A week and half later they email me that it's going to cost $175. Still waiting for my phone to be returned to me.
Co worker waited over a month and a half to have his moto x pure replaced under warranty and he did the advanced exchange and they wouldn't release the hold off his card.
Seems like lennovo had ran Motorola into ground, or is at least in the process of it.
So my co-worker decided to fix my phone, and what he found makes me embarrassed for Motorola.
Wouldn't charge via wired or wireless. Keep in mind this was supposed to be a perfectly working model sent back from Motorola.
First the reason why it wouldn't charge via the wire. Part of the plastic was under the contacts had snapped off. So the pin was hanging lose. He was able to fix it enough to charge by putting glue in there and getting the pin in a location it made contact.
Second the wireless charging issue. He opened the phone and found that they had ripped the "ribbon" with a screw that went to the wireless charging coil or whatever. He was able to fix that just by patching the ribbon. with some electrical tape or something.
Either way Motorola you get an F for customer experience.
I will never buy another one of your phones after dealing with you guys.
Bought a 6P almost a year ago and its the best phone i have ever owned. I decided to do some follow up posts when i was looking through my history.
You have to remember that Motorola no longer exists. The brand logo has been slapped on a few phones, but what you're seeing now is typical Lenovo. When Motorola was owned by Google, things were very different, and the Nexus 6 is proof of that as it is the only device where both the hardware and software were made by Google-owned entities.
Well, I beg to differ. My experience with their support was good.
I bought a N6 from swappa, a vertical half of the screen would randomly freeze, while the other half would still work; search revealed this to be a hardware issue.
The seller denied the phone had a problem and said I 'must have done something to it'...
Anyway, there were 3 days left of warranty for the phone (July 2016).
I opened a case, got a shipping label, and I received a replacement, however, the replacement was a 32GB version vs the 64GB I sent, so I called support and they immediately contacted their manager, who in turn contacted the logistics group; they emailed a return label, and as soon as the wrong phone arrived in their facilities, they shipped the correct one.
All this took about a 5 or 6 business days.
I could ***** around about the mis-shipment, but as far as support goes, they're way batter than 90% of other companies out there...
I have been rooted and using custom ROMs for over a year now on my note 4 but recently started having my TekXodus ROM crash occasionally. So I updated to the factory latest DOK2 using Kies and I have an issue where when I reboot or shutdown. When i do this I have to pull the battery out for a few minutes before it can boot again. I have tried factory restoring with Kies several times and still have the same problem. Root + custom ROMs also have the issue. Any ideas?
Similar problems in another thread. I'm still having issues although I've gone back to stock as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/help/note-4-major-slowdown-bugs-boot-loops-t3311297
People are starting to pop up everywhere with this issue, ROM's, stock, rooted, it doesn't seem to matter. It seems like it's either a software update they pushed to all carriers or maybe hardware failure of some kind. The batteries do seem to go bad fairly regularly around 9-12 months. That's fixable with that Anker 2x + wall charger kit, but if it's hardware failure for this it could get ugly.
Yeah mines getting worse. Gonna try to pick up a motherboard.

My phone died completely after a week of ongoing problems. Won't boot or anything any longer and I don't think its software related.. Let me know if you have any success picking up and installing a motherboard.
My Note 4 I bought a year ago was having this issue a couple months ago. Did the usual, factory reset, blah blah blah, was getting the mmc read fail error. Called tech support told them everything I did because I knew they would want me to do it so I headed them off at the pass. They said well it seems you did all the work for us and I had a replacement the next day for $5. Worked fine for 2 months and now it's doing it again so I'll be calling for another replacement tomorrow.
Strange thing is I wasn't getting the same mmc read fail error although I saw something similar only 1 time. This time though I did get a dm-verity verification (?) error. No idea what that even means.
What sucks is they really should offer me an upgrade at this rate but I have no interest in the Note 5 or the S6 without an sd slot or removable battery. Hoped to hold on to my N4 for at least another year.
where can we even buy motherboards for this note 4?

Yep, my time w/ the note4 was good while it lasted. I purchased it for $350 back in october and was great. sold it "as is for parts" on ebay for $160 yesterday, and am done with samsung for a while. took that $160 and purchased a LG G2 that i'll have to use for another year or more. i was really getting used to the note's size and stylus features as well.
