[Q] xperia z battery going crazy - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys i bought used xperia z from one guy he was claiming it has fulty battery and i bought it under price, phone couldnt run witohut charger, on charger was fine but after you disconnect charger phone shuts down, i changed battery first, on first look everything was fine 5 min later i noticed that battery is draining super fast i reconnect charger battery goes up for few percent imidetly is it possible that motherboard is faulty or it could be software problem, phone is running on 4.4.4 and google play version passed 5.0 so i guess this problem is not about service bug, any ideas? thanks

download an antivirus and check your phone for any viruses if that doesnt work then factory reset your phone if that doesnt work either then its a hardware problem

[Q] My Note cannot work without charger! Im Panicking!!

I bought a galaxy note GT-N7000 on March 10th, 2012. Today while using the phone, it automatically switched off. I thought "ok fine...just an android glitch" and switched it back on. But as soon as it turned back on and the home screen appeared, not even 3 seconds later, the phone screen flickers for half a second and the phone instantly turns off. This keeps on happening if i turn the phone on again and again as it switches off, but when I connect it to the charger and turn on the power, the phone doesn't turn off. So now, I cannot remove the phone from the power supply and Im freaking out! :crying: Oh and I tried factory resetting the phone twice but it doesnt solve the problem! ANY help would be a life saver! I have not rooted my phone and it runs samsung's stock ICS and I dont even have any launchers. I use my phone as clean and careful as possible; its been 9 months and I still havent removed the laminations on the back panel or the charger, so you can imagine what kind of guy I am! Please HELP ME, im panicking!! Thanx in advance!
First of all stop doing a factory reset on stock ICS kernel as dont know when your phone will get bricked.
It could be a pins contact probelm in the battery compartment. Remove the battery and check if the pins are fine and touching the right places. Clean it ... or the battery just died on you and need a new battery.

1st. Do not factory reset or format anything if you still on stock ICS kernel.. You phone will brick.
2nd. Try new battery or borrow from you friends.
omg! I didnt know that factory resetting on stock ICS can brick your phone!! Thanks for the precious info! I checked the terminals...they look brand new...so does the terminals on the battery (I rarely had the need to open the back panel). I will try another battery and get back to you guys. Thank you so much for your help!
Id bring it back for warrantee if I were you
I am also having same problem, my problem arrived once I flashed my note with 4.1.1 JB ROM.
My note powers off even it is above 90% of battery, if I try to connect 3G data.
If I start it same it powers off after 3-5 seconds on home screen.
If I connect it to charger and start it; it works fine even if I disconnect charger once note starts.
It works normal until I connect again to 3G data ot battery drains below 40 -30 %
After 40% it randomly power off or some time works till full battery drain.
If any one have solution please share.
Thanks in advance
Back from service center. Dead Battery and replaced mother board.
Hey guys, I gave my phone to the service center on 26th and got it back yesterday. They said that they replaced the main board and said that the battery is dead and they had lost 2 screws of the mother board which I found only when I came home and opened the back body by myself (opened cause there was a minute misalignment on the back body). I replaced them with 2 screws from the back body for now and have to take the phone to them again or buy those screws from some electronic shop. They also said that they don't have a Galaxy Note N7000 battery in stock and so did the other service centers here in Chennai, India. I tried searching for it in almost 7 to 8 cellphone shops but surprisingly nobody has stock of it! Can a year old phone's accessories just disappear so fast? I also tried ebay.in but all of them sell it in loose packing with seller warranty which makes me think twice about the genuineness of the product. Any advice as in what direction I must proceed now?

It might be a problem with your battery. My phone gives the problem described above because its battery is completely dead but works fine with a different battery. But my friend who has our same phone has a puffed battery and has the problem that you described. Also his battery drains faster than a normal GT-N7000 battery and sometimes switches off while playing games or doing other tasks that consume more power. Just try to use it with another battery and see if the problem still persists.
guys check the accessory section, there are some batteries suggested as well as vendors if you want new batery.
If warrantee covers it try that first. If like in above example they dont have in stock demand an alternative, especially if its covered by warrantee. You have rights you know.
A couple of days ago I ran into the same issue with my 10 month old note...
Not able to fully boot up phone... After 3 seconds since the power up
It was shutting off.
Battery was showing charge.
Got a new battery... Everything perfect now
Youve got a problem on your battery..you can try that using a new battery that should fix your problem if the problem still there, take your phone to the ssc

[Q] Battery problem

Hello people,
I got a really bad problem with my battery. It discharges whilst it's connected to the charger during minimal use (just whatsapp). Either that or when I don't use it, it always dangles around a certain percentage and doesn't really charge. I have another problem, the phone will constantly say that the charger connected or disconnected. I assume there is something wrong with the charging cable or the usb port. But the thing is, I have the problem aswell when I tried to charge it with the charging dock, so it couldn't be the usb port right? So the problem had to be with the battery, right? I had these problems before so one week ago I brought it to my provider store who sent it to Sony, it came back today and when I got home and tried to charge it, I had these problems again. The funny thing is, when I got my phone back the store showed me the repair paper that Sony sent along, on the paper stood: "GPS was fixed''. Although nothing was ever wrong with my GPS. But it didn't say anything about the battery. So did Sony make a mistake here? Or is the phone just busted or what? I'm quite desperate. The problems only started recently, about 4 to 6 weeks ago. Do any of you guys know what it could be? I don't wanna lose my phone for another time and be stuck with my iPhone replacement which I got lying around at home. I hate iPhone
tl;dr: battery busted, discharging while charging, please help.

Unlocked htc M7 battery issues

Hi, ever since upgrading my unlocked HTC M7 phone to 5.02 Lollipop, I have been having major issues with charging my phone (among many other issues). My battery will sporadically allow me to charge to 100% using the charger on some days and not at all on other days. I'll have the phone turned off and charging over night for 7+ hours and I will only get 5% total charge. If I reboot multiple times then sometimes my battery charge will jump around. My battery life will drain extremely fast while in standby and I will watch the battery level drop while it is plugged in, as I'm doing right now. I'm not running any intensive apps and in fact have minimal apps installed on my phone. When I get 100% charge I can go an entire day on that charge.
I've tried disabling suspect apps, I've tried wiping the cache and I've tried the so-called battery calibration (vol up + vol up + power button, hold 2+ minutes which restarts phone multiple times). None of this has worked. Is there anything else I can do?
Is it possible to download the old kit Kat Rom from somewhere or is there a fix for this lollipop build? Is there another stable Rom that is very close to lollipop but with all the bugs fixed? I have a tonne of other bugs associated with updating to 5.02. My build number is: 7.17.1540.21
Thanks.
First of all this is the wrong thread. You should have posted in the "One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" thread. If you already tried the calibration, you might want to give Gsam Battery a go to see what is draining your battery. You can also try to do a factory reset. You mentioned you have problems with charging the phone. If none of the above mentioned work you might have a faulty battery that needs to be changed. Do you still have any warranty on the device? And if you want to revert back to KitKat you need to S-OFF the phone by using the Sunshine tool.
I have similar issues with my verizon one m7 but in my case calibration battery solve problems with charging but only for couple weeks. You try another charger and cable?

Dl a 5.1.1 rom , preferably a gpe based rom, use gsam like he said, and what I Also did, which I think helped with the sporadic charging behavior, I brought and Aukey 3 port quick charge 2.0 capable brick, along with a 5 pack of the USB cables, got both on sale on amazon for 5.99 each While I wasn't having your exact issues, I was having some of the same regarding charging. The phone would be plugged in sometimes, and decreasing In %, I almost couldn't use the dam phone while it was plugged in, when I first bought the phone a year and a half ago, it never did that. Also when I did get it to charge normally, it would take so long to get to 100%.... Was so frustrating. But the one thing that CLEARLY has helped is get an Aukey charging brick and the cables, but more so the charging brick.. Let me know I can link you, although I would think similar to.the Aukey would work.
Good Luck

I tried the factory reset a couple months ago and it didn't work. Unfortunately my phone is past the warranty - I've had it for 2years now. I used the stock battery monitor and it said the primary culprits were standby and WiFi. Does using the battery monitor for charging the phone while it is off make sense?I always turn the phone off at night while charging.
Any suggestions on a good 5.1.1 gpe Rom? Where is the best place to DL it? Or what is s-off and sunshine tool?
I popped in a different stock charger and cable and it seems to be working...for now. Thanks for that suggestion. Hopefully it is just the charger, though I'm a bit skeptical that is the issue.
Update: As of today, the 2nd charger has been working well. I'm a bit surprised this was/is the cause. I assumed a charger does or doesn't work.
As I thought, the new stock charger is no longer working properly. I am finding that my phone will not charge properly every now and then. No way to predict when or how to prevent it. I have bounced back to the old charger and that has actually worked a few times. In the 3 minutes it took me to post this, the battery has dropped 5% with it plugged into the wall. Just yesterday I had a full 100% charge and lasted the entire day.
Any other suggestions? I'm not the best at rooting so don't think I'll have time to do that. Been looking at new phones, but like this one vs what's currently out

Xperia Z not charging after battery replacement

I have recently replaced my Xperia Z C6602 battery, the guy at the store told me that i have to plug the phone on a wall socket charger for at least 24 hours sometimes it even takes 3 days in order to start charging because the battery was flat, I didn't believe him tho until I've read some facts about waking up a flat battery, so I did what he told me and now for more than 40 hours, red LED is on and the Sony logo is flashing over and over in a loop, but the phone is not turning on. However I tried different chargers also I tried to force restart/shutdown by pressing power+vol+ thought the device is vibrating 1 then 3 times simultaneously but this didn't make any change, It's worth mentioning that my phone is unlocked and it was running a custom ROM (MIUI 6), also the device is getting recognized by the computer, and fast boot and flashmode are working fine, so I did successfully flash the stock firmware (10.5.1.A.0.283) using flash tool but this didn't fix the issue and the device kept doing the same thing over and over...
I just want to know if the fact about waking up a flat battery is true and the repairman was right about doing this process, or the new battery was simply damaged so I have to change it again.
Sorry for the bump but I'm in exactly the same boat. Bought a new battery from Replace Base Ltd for my C6603. When I connect the charger the phone keeps trying to start up then dies immediately. Running stock 5.1.1.
my C6603 battery was replaced 6 month ago, by myself..
yes, I bought a new original battery and replace it by myself
I only charge this new battery for 4 hours with EP800
now it's still working
maybe you have a faulty battery..

After reading a bit more about Li-ion batteries I would bet the new battery I bought has not been used for such a long time that it has gone into 'sleep mode' to prevent over-discharging.

Z3+ sudden turn off ?

Hi,
My Xperia Z3+ keeps turning itself off even with a band new battery and a Hard reset. Is there a known problem with the phone ?
The battery has a charge of 50% or more and it would suddenly turn itself off with no shut down sequence. I can get it back by plugging it into the wall with a short charge and starting it up as normal, I can even go on using the phone (video, browsing etc) with the same battery level after I start it back up, so its like the phone is either overheating or has some software problem.
Its 3 years old now and it feels like an old phone, maybe its a lost cause but I wanted at least know what the problem is.
It's out of warranty and Sony told me to send it back to 'their' repair shop but they won't tell me how much it will cost to fix, only that its €20 just to take a look at it.
Does anyone know what exactly the problem is ? Maybe its a simple device trying to do too much.

Try reflashing the stock ROM using Flashtool with FULL Wipe and after reflashing the stock ROM, charge it to 100% and calibrate the phone using Battery Calibration App. If still the problem occurs, then you need to contact the Sony service centre or buy a new phone.

Hi,
Thanks for the help, I think its working !
I did the above, hard reset, then calibrate battery by running it down to 1%, turning it off, full charge to 100%. I think that solved one problem.
One thing I didn't try until this morning is taking out the SDCARD since I got a new battery. I did that today and I went through a full day today without the phone switching off. My Sandisk Ultra SDCARD is 6 years old now and even though you get a lifetime guarantee I think its finished. I was just reading how technology has moved on (the read write speeds and A1 App Performance).
The SDCARD must have been causing 1 internal error with the Xperia Z3+ and the reduced cells in the battery causing another.
