So I just got a notification from ATT saying that there is a software update available. Has anyone else gotten this and installed it? Is it jelly bean or a minor update? I haven't tried it myself because I am rooted.

Yes just got it I'm Rooted & S-OFF
it won't be jelly bean since the ONE X series doesn't have it yet haha just a minor I bet
Can someone detail this update?
*Edit* Called AT&T the Update was released October 9th it an 13mb update so yea Minor the girl
on the phone was talking to fast for me to listen what it offers
Got it last night. Android version did not change. Couldn't tell for sure if any other numbers updated. It wouldn't kill AT&T to send out an e-mail or text message telling us what the update was for.
got the same thing i have no idea what is the update
Update has my phone stuck in a darn boot loop..any idea what it is?
Sorry bludiamond.
Since my phone is rooted, I did not want to install this update. It's quite upsetting that AT&T forces the update unconditionally.
Anyway, I had let the download to complete, but did not let it to install. The update did prompt me, whether I want it to install now, or later. I had opted for later.
Then, after some Googling, I had deleted the download (from /sdcard/Download), and had un-installed the following services: com.htc.demoflopackageinstaller and com.smithmicro.dm.
Then, I've rebooted the phone. Afterwards, the phone still had a notification, that there's an update ready to be installed. When, selecting the notification, updater did realize that the downloaded file is gone, and had prompted me whether or not I'd like to download the update again, on which, I had responded no. The notification is gone, and AT&T did not prompt me to download and install the update again, at least not yet.
My phone seems to be OK.
I was hoping for a new Radio/RIL. That's not what this is...
New Kernel & Recovery. If you are rooted and on a custom rom Do Not run the update. I'm sure the developer of the rom you are on will work to add anything useful to future updates.
The dates on these files is 7/27/12 so it took At$t over to months to test & release.
To delete it look in /cache/fota/OTAPkg.zip
Once gone you shouldn't be bothered by it anymore.
Have anyone successfuly downloaded and installed it?
What's new? Bluetooth bugs fixes? Usable Voice Dialer? Better battery life?
Sense 4.0?
Please comment.

Think the majority of users on here are rooted and running custom roms so they wouldnt' be installing this.
I forgot I was unlocked and rooted. Now I am really stuck. How do I get out of the dead Android loop?
I googled the update, and found this on the ATT Support website.
Beginning on October 9, 2012, AT&T and HTC have released an additional software update for the HTC Vivid that will be available via firmware over-the-air (FOTA). This 13MB software package updates the firmware version to 3.26.502.56_R23 and improves sensor performance.
NOTE: Customers must have a data SOC in order to obtain any FOTA updates. Customers who have a data opt-out SOC are not able to receive FOTA updates.

I had the looping issue too. I cleared the cache once and rebooted. Received a message that there was a problem with the update and to wait for the next update. Phone seems to be okay since.
I'm unlocked s/on..no custom rom..it was so early, I must have hit the wrong button, so I'm stuck in the loop and can't seem to get into recovery either..ugh
I'm stock - not rooted. I did do the download without any problems, although you do have to manually reboot after the update.
It supposedly improves the sensor. Not sure what that means, but that's what the ATT website says. Other than it changing my default ringtone, I don't see any difference.
Could not get it out of the loop. Took it to the service center and neither could they..they ended up replacing it under warranty..thank goodness. Said that another lady came in with the same issue as well.
AT&T Upgrade to Nowhere
I'm running stock on the HTC Vivid and got this upgrade pushed out by AT&T. This is the second AT&T upgrade I've done on this phone (the first was to ICS not long after I got the phone).
I ran the update yesterday, which force rebooted my phone and I watched as the upgrade downloaded and installed, then came back up.
NOTHING has changed. I don't know what AT&T supposedly upgraded, but it's certainly nothing noticeable.
I didn't even get the "3.26.502.56_R23" software designation that the AT&T help article says I was supposed to see.
It was literally an upgrade to nowhere. Not sure why I wasted time off the grid and battery power on it.
As usual-- AT&T fail.
At least no harm was done.
I was rooted, stock ROM, and got the notification yesterday. I postponed as much as I could but it finally wouldn't let me anymore and I let it try to update.
Of course, went into a boot loop. I did eventually get the boot looping to stop by reflashing the wxc recovery image and CWM-root, but then my wifi wouldn't work. I suspected some difference in the kernel version or some other borking of the update.
Long story short, I had to re-lock, go back to stock, and re-unlock and root again. Then spend the time (ongoing) to get my environment back. Thank goodness for Titanium backup pro and Dropbox. LOL.
Wish I could bill AT&T for the 18 hours I've spent. And if they push it to me again, I'll be irritated.
Hi folks,
first post, just registered here, but I've been reading various threads nearly non-stop for the past 4 ish days on ways to improve my HTC One.
I have it rooted, super cid, and s-off at moment, but with standard Vodafone UK-Ireland image.
Was reading up on the different roms and getting nearly ready to install the either Google Play Edition rom or ARHD rom and up popped a OTA update for KitKat, (4.4.2) phone is currently running 4.3
I was wondering if the software image is of any use to anyone here? I see a good few firmwares from 02, H3G and EE, but didn't see any Vodaphone ones.
So if the image is of use to people, can someone reply with the best way to get it intact off the phone, it just finished downloading at the moment, waiting for me to press install now or install later.....
Jason.

You posted about htc one 4.19.161.11 firmware ,,can you upload because i want to restore my phone to stock.It will be very kind of you
Hi, I require assistance. bought this used unit of M7 (normal edition) a few months back. Totally new to the Android scene before then.
It came with 4.4.2 and Sense 5.5, I had assumed it was untampered with and is fully stock.
Software version is 4.20.707.6, Asia WWE. CL308312 release keys (whatever that means)
kernel 3.4.10-g499e571
So when I had tried to update it via OTA to HTC Sense 6 (file size 666.06MB, what the.. Satan?)
I'd go through it for the first 30% and then it'd be in a red triangle with exclamation mark, which then made me press the volume and power button and got this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
showing that soundhound_freemium is missing, uhh...
It would then boot back normally and go back to the normal Sense 5.5. But I do want the Sense 6 badly and get this issue solved.
I was pretty dumbfounded with this issue as I am new to Android and everyone else is receiving their updates smoothly.
Now I choose not to proceed without the advice of XDA forumers, I wish to ask of what is the next step for me? I came across with the explanation that I'd need to do an RUU to get back to stock? Feeling pretty much dumber from that point on, there are so many RUU files around that I do not know which one I should be using? Any help on this is appreciated.
Steps done so far:
Factory reset from settings
Factory reset from recovery mode
Installing soundhound from Play Store (yea.. no difference)
Continuously attempting it at least 11 to 13 times, still the same thing over again.
BTW: I seem to be getting the app called WeChat every time I reset my phone, I wonder why... I know it's a messaging app but didn't know it'd come with the phone pre-loaded.. uh..
oh and oh, apart from OTA, any other way for me to install it from PC or something? I remember being able to update via iTunes instead of OTA for a newer version of iOS, although of course that was iOS, just wondering if it were possible for the Android as well. Hmm.. oh well
I would really appreciate all the help I can get, really want the Sense 6 UI to test, thank you very much!
EDIT: added bootloader image

firstly on which carrier you are? as you said you tried like 11-13 times but still no luck,well in that case root your device and then install sense 6 rom. I know you are new to android but watch YouTube videos couple of times on how to root HTC one and then install any custom rom.
regarding we chat I read it's preloaded app in the sense 6 update so May be it's just save that app not the whole sense 6 software.
try to factory reset the phone and then update.

I just checked and found out the update has started rolling out for Asian region as few of the Indian users & China regions are receiving updates but not all of them. well if you are not comfortable rooting your device I would advice to wait for couple of days & try again later as may be current update is not getting installed on your device. May be HTC fixes these in coming days. As far as i remember they don't provide full fledge update in the world instead they do roll out updates region wise like that they keep on improving any drawbacks occured in previous regions. so till then patience my friend
or else try going to htc store and ask their help,they might flash the sense 6 Rom or can tell you what exactly is the problem(if there is any) .

Ya, I cannot find a RUU for you to flash so that your device is completely stock. Rooting etc. isn't required.
Best you can do is this:
Flash TWRP recovery 2.6.3.3
restore the nandroid backup from here http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/m7-twrp-nandroid-backup-cid-htc__044-_-4-20-707-6-asia-wwe-zip/
Then flash the stock recovery from here http://d-h.st/jTn
Then check for the sense 6 OTA and install.
NOTE: You will likely loose data doing this, backup first.
I would also wait for more replies today, @alary , @nkk71 or others may have additional information to help

the OTA won't install no matter what you try; it is failing the check on the /data/preload app(s)
at one point your phone was bootloader unlocked and S-Off, and the previous owner didn't do a very good job at putting it back to 100% stock, and unfortunately there is no RUU for 4.20.707.6 or higher (as far as i can tell), so there is no "easy fix" for this.
if you want to return to stock (and be able to receive OTAs), you're going to have to unlock bootloader, achieve S-Off (if possible??), and follow one of the return to stock guides (I have one in my signature).
or use a custom ROM.
You have a journey ahead of you, so time to do some research and reading.
Good Luck

Hi, I'm not sure if I should attempt this? As nkk71 has said that this might not be an easy process.. Hmm.. Actually to be honest in not especially keen on getting OTA, I prefer the stock Android experience and stuff, not a fan of blinkfeed, should I just get cyanogemod 11? As I understand there is an installer for it right? A step similar to jail breaking iOS devices by using a simple installer, perhaps?

Hi, in light to the possibility of my phone being bootloader unlocked before, I doubt the service centre would assist me in getting the OTA. maybe I'll give it a try, but thank you for your suggestion. Most likely ill learn how to root and install custom rooms soon. however I have one more question, as my main interest is now cyanogenmod, and they have an installer for it:
1) the installer doesn't need a rooted phone, so does that mean the installer will do the rooting for me?
2) the installer states that it is recommended for the phone to be in stock android, is my current version considered stock? Although not 100% stock as it doesn't have the preloaded apps?

interesting, but weird, I could understand the /data/preload apps but settings.apk is part of /system/app .... that should definitely not happen... and impossible to change without root / unsecured kernel / custom recovery.
maybe you should contact HTC and let them know
EDIT: maybe you should check the SHA-1 on /system/app/settings.apk and compare that to the updater-script
Hi, I also have this issue. How about if we copy /data/preload from the OTA.zip itself (after downloading)? or from an older OTA.zip
I tried that, but on a certain app, it says unexpected content... (e.g: HTCSoundRecorder.apk). Does the OTA check the apk MD5 or something?
I really want the OTA, because I can't S-OFF right now (firewater whelp, cpu rev 003). HTC__622, x.708 rom.
same issue
i have exactly the same issue. mine was cid 332. latin american m7 htc one sense5.5 hboot 1.56
on update to sense 6 its stuck on 30 % with red triangle. once open their is message preload not found tunein.apk missing.
after 1.5 month the update available for my cid but cant install it. i unlock by htcdev but still s-on and not rooted. i reset factory setting from recovery \ bootloader \ phone and problem still the same.i dont want custom ROM
i check with local htc. they told me to check with america HTC help line as my phone is from american region. i dont know why i got latin american region phone in middle east. thanks to online store. HTC American region just waste my days and after all the serial and model detail they told me since you are in middle east visit their branch in Qatar. how i should visit qatar for fixing phone to get sense 6?
well check in dubai service center they told me that motherboard need to replace cost 40% of phone. since i unlock by htc itself i still need to pay for 3 month used device.
i am exhausted.

This is actually the easiest way to do this, but you must get hold of the current software number OTA on your phone, not the one you are trying to install.
so if you currently have 4.22.401.11 for instance, you must grab this same OTA and pull data/preload and its contents, which is all of the missing apps etc, from that OTA, copy to your phone, CHANGE THE PERMISSIONS, restart your phone and re-run check for updates.
nb, you must also have stock recovery on your phone for OTA's to work.

Satan?)
I'd go through it for the first 30% and then it'd be in a red triangle with exclamation mark, which then made me press the volume and power button and got this:
showing that soundhound_freemium is missing, uhh...
Install odexed zip in twrp will fix 100%
EDIT: added bootloader image

Install odexed zip Rom , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799281
Hey, I am currently running 6.0.1 as my android version. Just asking but would it be suggested to downgrade the android version? If yes, than too which version?
Why do you want to downgrade?
The Nexus 6 came out with the 5.0, you can't go further back, even with custom roms. Actually I've head somebody trying to build KitKat for the shamu, but I don't know if he succeeded.
Also why would you like to downgrade, anyway?
Oh as far as why: I had enough with 6.0.1 freezing/slow/crashing on me. Sometimes it even freezes to the point where I cannot turn off the screen for a few minutes at times. I also have enough with the apps freezing or does not work and Chrome sometimes freezes as well.
Why not upgrading to android 7 instead of downgrading?

Why don't you try upgrading instead? Android 7.0 factory image has just been released.
Oh, has it been released? Does it causes those boot loop issues on Motorola branded phones just like it does with LG branded? And could I upgrade using the Wugs tool?

If you want to flash the factory image then go here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#shamu
You will find the factory image for 7.0 there and also the instructions on how to flash it. If you are already on stock 6.0.1, you should bee recieving an OTA update soon. But since you say you have reboots and freezes I would take a backup of what every you need onto your computer and then start of fresh from the link above. That way you won't be haunted by old bugs that might be stuck because of previous versions.

These freezing/slow/crashing issues look very unique to you. Why didn't you try a factory reset, then add your apps back one by one, and look for those that give you trouble. Also are you rooted, do you use xposed or anything that modifies the basic system? Because I'm runnin 6.0.1 myself, and never had the issues you do.
The instructions on the developer page to flash looks too confusing. Well, it jumps right into it when myself I never done it before.
Everybody on this site once knew nothing about Android. Your safest bet is to just wait for the OTA to be offered (or proactively check for it) and accept it. If you're as novice as your posts suggest, I'm guessing that you're running a pure stock device, so you won't run into any problems with the upgrade. And if you do, you know where we are...
Hello all!
I've been looking around the forum for answers to my questions, but I'm still pretty unsure, and I'm worried about messing up my phone, so if someone could hold my hand a little bit, I would appreciate it so much!
When the marshmallow update came out, I unlocked my bootloader with Sunshine and installed TWRP and rooted. I'm currently on stock 6.0.1 and September 1, 2016 security patch.
Issue #1: Ever since I unlocked/rooted/updated to marshmallow I've had problems with some of my apps deciding they can't connect to the internet, even though WiFi and 4G are clearly connected. Like I'll be able to browse the internet on Chrome just fine, but the Amazon app won't connect.
From what I've read, it seems like a problem a lot of people have had after upgrading to marshmallow, but I'm still worried it's because I'm unlocked or rooted or have Xposed installed or something.
Restarting the phone seems to be the only thing that really makes the apps work again (temporarily). I read somewhere about clearing the cache from recovery and that seemed to have fixed the problem for a couple of months, but lately I've been having the problem again, and clearing the cache isn't helping beyond having to restart my phone to do it.
Issue #2: I've been scared to take the OTA security updates.. I've generally gathered that they won't relock my bootloader, but I'm unclear on if it's ok to take the updates OTA or if I have to download and install them through TWRP.
Also, do I even need those updates? Call me stupid, but I'm not that worried about security (the only thing I own is a massive amount of student debt, go ahead and take it =P). I'm really just hoping the updates fix the internet thing.. is that a possibility?
So overall I guess I'm asking, will taking the updates OTA wreck my stuff, and is there a chance updating will fix my internet connectivity problem?
Or will using a different ROM possibly fix my internet problem? If so, which ROM would you recommend? I used to have a Razr M with the latest (at the time) CM ROM, but I couldn't use Bluetooth and WiFi at the same time, so it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth about custom ROMs...
Any answers or advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!
If you have TWRP installed, NEVER take an OTA. You will bootloop or brick your phone. Instead just install the TWRP flashable version from this forum.
This is what you would flash, via TWRP if you want the latest firmware while keeping custom TWRP recovery.

Perhaps re-flashing your modem might help? It's also at that thread. TWRP flashable version.

As for custom ROMs, for you who is not that experienced I would suggest this one:
Computerfreek274_1.0.8 Update Marshmallow 6.0.1 Global,De-bloated,Root,Volte, 5/29/17
https://forum.xda-developers.com/dr.../computerfreek274mm1-0-android-6-0-1-t3503634
It's actually a tweaked, debloated version of Verizon stock Marshmallow firmware. Everything will still work, including Verizon VoLTE (on Verizon, of course, not other networks). Has slight volume boost, battery optimization, etc.
And of course, lots of experienced users are also running that ROM. I do not mean to criticize it in any way, but you just mentioned that you ran some ROM where some stuff didn't work. This is a ROM built on stock, not CM/LOS based. Nothing much has been changed, just bloatware removed and some tweaks.
No worries, that ROM sounds perfect!
Thank you very much for all of your help!!

There's a complete TWRP flashable update to the latest '5-5' firmware. Saves you the time of putting stock recovery back on and taking it OTA. The TWRP flash won't install the stock recovery, TWRP will stay. There's also a zip to clear/reset the radio/modem. You may not need that due to updating the rom.

So just an update for anyone who might come across this thread later.. I ended up flashing the ComputerFreek ROM suggested by ChazzMatt (didn't clean install, just wiped cache). It worked great, and so far I haven't had any more problems with apps not being able to connect!
Thank you to ChazzMatt, ComputerFreek, Einsteindks, and the wonderful XDA community for all your help
