ROM downloads don't pass md5 check - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just rooted, installed TWRP but when I try to flash the ROM it doesn't pass the md5 check. What would be causing this? I've downloaded 2 different roms and the same thing happened. Am I missing something. Thank you in advance

By download from phone or pc. Are you installing from sd or internal. Did you flash sd fix for our phones? Have to give a lot more info. Did you check md5.

Its just corrupted download im 99% sure . Are you downloading straight to your phone or pc then transfer to your phone or external card? Corrupted file cause by bad downloads or when you transfer files from pc to phone vice versa. Download rom and try flashing same file again. Trust me I had exact same problem like that just two days ago it keeps showing skipping md5, no md5 found and shows failed to extract files or something.

[Q] Integrity of ROM Downloads: How can we be assured?

In some downloads we are able to check if our downloaded files are correct using MD5 Hash. There is none for ROMs so far that I can find(correct me if I'm wrong).
How can we be sure that we have downloaded the file completely? Also if the file is correct? If we flashed an incomplete ROM will it brick the note?
Thanks!
Hi!
I'm not an expert, but whenever I flash something I use Mobile Odin. If it's md5, before starting to flash, it will ask you to check the file integrity. Hope this helps.

All stock roms come with md5 checking and some custom roms. But the best root is torrents you cant get a broken download this way as tge torrent client checks the file as it goes

Rsd Lite, download it. Download original firmware which is on a thread here. Put phone in fastboot, hook up to a computer, flash the software.

make sure phone is at least 50% battery (or 100% just to be sure).
Be sure rdlite and fxz (stock firmaware) reside both within your hard drive (i used to pull those both from an external HDD) if by any chance the flash process is interrupted in the middle of a specific action, you might be exposed to brick your phone.
Tried this several times...get unknown fastboot error. Any ideas? I made sure I had the correct firmware.

Could be several things. First thing I'd try is s different computer. Idk why but I have heard of people fixing this issue that way. Also make sure you are flashing to what shipped on this phone. Not what you are on now

Use the firmware from the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853522
and use the edited xml file from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33050269&postcount=14
That should do the trick.
Aftet replacing xml file it says no files. Don't know what I am doing wrong. I'll keep at it. Thanks for your help.

Did you make sure to unzip the xml file? Also, which firmware are you trying to flash? The xml is from the last update (77.12.22 on AT&T). If you are trying to flash an older firmware or are on Bell I can edit the correct xml file and upload after I get off work today.

Tried to flash the one in the post that was put up in your response to me. I did unzip the xml file. When I replace the xml file and try to flash in rsd lite is when I get the error. If I open the file...the whole thing is empty.

I'll reupload the xml file when I get home. You said you used the firmware in the post. When you click the link in the post it should list 3 firmwares. 1 is for Bell and the other 2 AT&T. The AT&T ones are 7.7.1Q-115 and 7.7.1Q-144. The 115 is the original firmware the phone was shipped with and 144 is the recent update. The xml file is from the update. Which one did you use?
If you are still having problems flashing send me a pm with the apks you deleted. I'll send you the ones you need and you can push them to the proper directories manually.

Here is another copy of the xml file. Also, make sure you have the lastest version of rsd lite (version 5.6). Here is a link to that:

I was finally able to get it to flash...however, it starts, then my phone screen flashes then goes to sticky fastboot and continues. When it is done, it says pass but no files from original firmware are present. I am currently redownloading the files and am going to try again. Thank you for all of your time.

No problem. Someone else got stuck in sticky bit fastboot too, but I'm not sure how to correct that. If the files are still missing just shoot me a pm with a list of the missing files. I can pull them from my Atrix and send it over. You may be able to push them manually as long as your rooted.

Hi there!
I'm having the exactly same issue. I've tried flashing both firmwares (115 and 144) and always get error in RDS. Right now every time I turn off and turn on the phone again, it goes straight to the fastboot screen. It says:
Fasboot Reason: Sticky bit factory_fastboot
Anyway I'm still able to reboot the phone with the volume up+down combo, then I have to select Normal powerup in order the phone actually starts. All works fine once it's started but it don't get back to the stock rom. Making a factory reset or wipe data from stock recovery neither seems to work. Actually It even have installed some personal apps such Google Chrome or it still have root that I earlier applied.
If I want to try flashing the 115 firmware first, which line I need to edit on the XML file to avoid RDS errors?
Any help would be great!

I really don't know. I tried this but when attemp to edit the xml from the 115 firmware it doesn't have such line of code.
worked
had to flash with rsd lite 6.1.4 instead of 5.6
Those who have problem in flashing latest ICS stock ROM via RSD,try replacing 7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC.xml inside folder to THIS. Just open the zip and replacing it.

[Q] MD5 mismatch Help? [Solved]

Ok so here's the story. I went and backed up my current rom because I wanted to see if I could flash Batakang Rises with cwm (It did flash after I manually mounted the system) but it got stuck in a bootloop. I figured it was just a bad flash so I went and erased it and thought I would try figure it out when I got home. So I then went and formatted the phone and tried to restore my PAC backup I'd made and it said "MD5 mismatch. What the deal ? Is my stuff gone just gone ?

Did you rename the backup folder name? If you did, take out any spaces in the name and try again. You'll need another ROM to flash so you can change it.

I think I figured it out. I have the back ups installed in the external SD. Here's the thing though. I went to rom manager and its not giving me the option to have the ext SD as the primary. (I have the pro version) so im guessing that its not reading my sd. what's the deal with that?

[HELP] Flashing/MD5 error

Hey fellow HTC ONE owners,
I am having a bit of an issue. I recently rooted and installed TWRP. (I am coming from the Sensation, so have some knowledge of root & HTC)
I am currently on TMO so I need a ROM using a 4.1.2 base (Either Trickdroid 5.6 or ARHD 9.4) so I can still use WiFi calling. Here is my issue:
Arghhh !!! Everytime I try to flash (in twrp 2.6) ARHD 9.4 or Trickdroid 5.6 , I get the same error !!!
Updating partition details...
Formatting cache using mke2fs...
Done.
Updating partition details...
Installing 'sdcard/Trickdroid_5.zip'...
Checking for MD5 file ...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found.
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/Trickdriod_5.zip'
I am using OSX. I also have NONE of the boxes checked in TWRP. Help.

Turn off the md5 check in recovery options. Recommend you check the md5 manually though.

fota failed

hi to everybody! sorry for my eng. plz help me. fota (Firmware-Over-The-Air) was failed, phone not loaded. not rooted, all is stock from buying. usb not working (was broken). only 1 way - flash from sd-card via stock recovery!! any chances? i think to download full firmware or only update, put it in to sd and flashing from stock recovery. i dowloaded SKZ-G800HXXU1BPE1-20160708172910.zip , but i got messages in recovery: "footer is wrong" and "signature verification failed". is there any ways to "repair" it?
p.s. sm-g800H
You can download md5 file from samfirm.com and flash via Odin. But can you help me. Can you root your phone and nandroid backup all partition by Efs Professional on XDA and send to me. Thanks for your help.

i can't connect to PC !
Could you take it in for repairs? If it really is still pure stock then you shouldn't have issues (especially considering this could easily be a case of manufacturing issues ). Unfortunately the stock recovery does signature verification on packages and Samsung doesn't publish stock flashables with their signature (which is very hard to get). I can't find them anywhere. You're going to need to use the USB at some point anyway. Sorry. In the meantime try as many different PCs/Cables/Jiggling as you can to see if you can still get it to work (If it's charging it generally isn't broken).
its broken. i repair it by myself. i need same part and i waiting it from aliexpress. then i will repair usb.

samfirm.com does not work!
Look at sammobile.com you have to sign up but it is free. It is my favourite for firmwares because it is very easy to use. The free account version contains a limited download rate (it takes around an hour to download firmware).
