same problem but other machine(I think that the bluetooth dongle is the same- Broadcom) : Samsung R560, Vista 32bit Home Premium
When I try to connect my Diamond, Vista asks me for Installing Bluetooth Peripheral Device...There´s no possiblitlity to find one at the computer and even the German HTC Support doesn´t have any idea (but the Support-Guy didn´t seem to have any knowledge about pc´s )
The strange thing is, that the Laptop and the device are connected after entering the access-code, but no services are available.
Therefore guys, you´re my one and only hope (yes, I also accept an advice of a woman ) Please help me....
Hey Guys, I am new to XDA Forums. Its a great place to be for Windows Mobile Users. Coming to the point, here is the solution for the problem that all of you are facing. I am telling the steps according to Windows Vista as i am running it as my only OS. If anybody faces this problem on Windows XP, i hope the steps will be quiet same, otherwise contact me by PM.
The Bluetooth peripheral device that Vista detects is the "Windows Mobile-based Device Support" device. It should be configured properly when Windows Mobile Device Center (Sync Center) is installed but it somehow gets messed up. I think Micorosoft will soon release a patch for this problem. Anyways for now, do this:
1. Install Windows Mobile Device Center that comes on the Companion CD with your phone if you haven't already done so. Even if you have installed it, open Programs and Features from Control Panel and repair the installation. I am using a HTC P3400i and my CD comes with versions for XP and Vista both.
2. The first step may solve your problem automatically. If it doesn't, however, Right Click on Computer Icon and Choose Manage.
3. Goto Device Manager. You'll see an Unknow Device named Bluetooth Peripheral Device. Double Click it to open its properties.
4. Click "Reinstall Driver" on the first tab.
5. Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software" button.
6. Click "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".
7. Now the next page will show a list of drivers with Company Names in one list and Drivers in another. In the Company List choose Microsoft Corporation, not only Microsoft. Please confirm this twice that you dont choose Micorosoft but Micorosoft Corporation.
8. Now in the drivers list there may be one or more drivers with the name "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" with different driver versions. I cant tell you which will work for you, but start with the newest version.
9. Click next. Ignore any warnings and keep pressing next and then Finish at last. If all goes well, the last screen will show the message that device driver is properly installed.
If the last screen shows that device is nto configured properly or The device could not start then repeat the above steps choosing a different driver version this time.
I sincerly hope that this will solve the problem that all of you are facing. It has worked for me, atleast.
Hey, many thanks for you turtorial !
Unfortunately, it didn´t work for me, my pc can´t detect the services of my HTC TOUCH DIAMIND and also other way round. Hope that windows will fix this bug because it is neither the fault of my bluetooth dongle nor the one of my device...
Bluetooth problem "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" driver Fixed Windows 7 and Vista.
Thanks a lot, it works on my Windows 7 and also without problems in windows vista.
Your method worked on Windows 7 x64, thanks.
still can't fix it
I have win7 x64, but I can't find "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" driver.
I've repaired WMDC. And I've tried other drivers. I'm attaching a screenshot. Most of the device is accounted for, but the "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" is not working for my HD2 or my TP2. I know this is the Diamond Thread, but I'm sure it's going to be the same solution in the end.
I've not had many problems between my laptop and the 2 phones, but under certain circumstances, then don't want to communicate. I usually find a "work around", but if anyone has other ideas... I'm all ears.
so I did all of this and the first driver listed worked. the problem is that I still cannot get it to connect to the internet.
just to give the pertinent info.
I have an HTC t-mobile us version hd2. I am trying to get the cell phone to act as my internet when I am using my laptop.
at home I have wi-fi and when I am out and around I will use the hotspots when available but at times I have neither so I would really like to have the phone get my laptop onto the internet.
the above link got me the device driver but I still cannot get it to connect to the internet.
my laptop is running windows 7. can anyone help?
thanks in advance.

you lost me on 7. after "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer" it asked me to select device type. i selected mobile devices. then it took me to the window to pick the manufacturer. i found HTC among the manufactures, but all drivers were for USB Sync. could you clearify 7 and explain how to get to 8 please.
THANK YOU!
why dont you get the app that allows you to use your phone as a wifi hotspot then you can just link to it via wireless saves you the hassle sorting all the bluetooth stuff out then
@badguy8: got similiar problem on W7 but now it's fixed:
7a) choose All devices - instead of Mobile Devices
7b) instead of Microsoft Corporatin choose (Standard Windows Mobile devices) - yes it's written inside () so you'll find it at the beginning of the list
8) ...there you can find the required driver and continue as above
...
hope that helps
EDIT: it only worked when my HTC HD2 had been connected via USB during driver instalation....
solution here in this link. it worked for me !

great
it works on win7 x64 realy great
working here on win7
If you are using windows 7 and trying to connect your mobile phone as the bluetooth device then it might show blutooth peripheral device driver error as Windows 7 does not support A2DP and mobile phones generally come with A2DP. But third party software can connect your bluetooth mobile phone with windows 7. One of such freeware software is Medieval Software Bluetooth FTP.
Hi guys,
I know this is not directly related with the HTC. But I believe people in this forum will have more experience.
I just bought an Asus BT WL-BTD201M dongle for my computer. I thougt that Asus would be good... Big mistake. I used to be very loyal to Asus. I thougt they had good products. But before this, I had a video card which the cooler just "fell off". And now this little headache. I swear this is the last thing from Asus I ever buy.
With the drivers I got from Asus, a lot of propietary software is installed. But then, there is no way I can connect the HTC Kaiser. Using the tips of SoLor in http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20090104234020143&SLanguage=en-us&page=1&board_id=11&model=WL-BTD201M, I was able to install the damn Bluetooth dongle... partially. When the drivers are being installed through the setup.exe, one device is installed ok. But then Windows detects other two devices.
Now, if I look in the Device Manager, I have
- ASUS BTD201M Bluetooth Dongle under "Bluetooth Radios".
- Two "unknown devices" with a status reading "This operation requires an interactive window station."
I'm able to "pair" both my Plantronix headset and my HTC phone. But they won't do anything. The stereo headset won't be shown as a multimedia device and the phone won't do anything. I presume it's related with the "unknown devices". But I don't have many ways to be sure about it. Do you know if there is some workaround I can try?
The HTC Kaiser will "pair" with the desktop computer. But no service is being displayed and the desktop is always "disconnected".
PS: I confess is the first time I try to connect a device through Bluetooth. Please be patient.
PS2: I tried with Vista and Win2008, both x64.
It seems no matter what I do I can't get the popup to show to authorize my computer on the device. The device shows up just fine in adb but is unauthorized and I can't authorize it due to never receiving the popup. I'm using Windows 8.1 which is where I prefer to do my development but I actually installed linux and set up my environment there just to see if I could at least authorize the device but still couldnt get the popup there either!
Here's a complete list of what I have tried. They arn't in accurate order, i've listed them generally as I remember doing them...
1. First off i just let windows detect the device and install the driver. The device showed up in device manager as Asus Android Composite ADB Interface
2. I'm using Android Studio. I made sure everything was up to date. ADB Version 1.0.32, Android Studio itself fully updated and everything up to date according to SDK Manager.
3. Looked to Asus for a specific driver but there is no driver for this specific model.
4. Tried Google USB drivers. Had to force install
5. Tried Asus Android ADB Interface and Asus Android Composite ADB Interface drivers I found online. Had to force install.
6. Tried Asus PC Link hoping it would install the correct drivers automatically.
7. Rebooted pc and device many times as well as toggling usb debugging, revoking usb authorizations and switching between MTP and PTP. All of these were done in just about every possible combination with every driver I have tried.
After all of the above the device continued to either show offline or unauthorized. All these drivers seemed to work as the device was picked up by adb, but no authorization dialog on device.
8. All of the above was done under Windows 8.1 so at this point I said screw it and installed linux just to see if I could at least get the authorization popup to show. I Installed Android Studio under linux and performed all the necessary steps. To cut a long story short I did pretty much the same as I did in Windows minus messing around with drivers. Again under linux I could get the device to show but either as offline or with no permissions and still no authorization dialog.
9. I don't know much about linux, so had the help of a couple of kind guys on irc who walked me through some other things which im not entirely sure what they were.....something like adding android rules and registering usb devices manually with their PID and VID. lsusb seemed to show the device just fine.
10. Evntually gave up on linux as I hadn't made any progress at all and I was just getting the same problems as with windows 8.1. So at this point I went back to Windows.
11. Went back to the Asus site and grabbed a an adb driver for a simalar device (differnt model of the memo pad 7). I had a look in the inf file for this driver and found that my model was actually in there and got excited. Windows wouldn't let me install because of the file being corrupt or possibly being tampered with, so I disabled driver signature enforcement and windows happily installed them. This was something new as they were the first drivers that installed niceley since the very first one windows automatically installed. I'm satisfied now that I actually have the right drivers due to my model actually being in the inf file and the device is now being picked up consistently by adb. When it is picked up as offline all I need to do is toggle usb debugging and it gets picked up again as unauthorized...but still....
NO AUTHORIZATION DIALOG ON THE DEVICE....ARGGGHHHHHH!
Also I should mention, while doing this I also tried with a Lenovo device as I went through each step of trying to get the Asus to work and I had the same problem with the Lenovo. No authorization dialog. But how is this possible? 2 devices, multiple usb cables, 7 usb ports, Windows and Linux, Multiple drivers for each device etc etc.
I'm at the end of my tether here. I have been at this for about a week solid now and I am no closer to finding out the problem. Surely it can't be 2 problematic devices? But It can't be both Windows and Linux? Are all my USB ports broken? Are all the 5 USB cables I used (Official asus, official lenovo, official htc and 2 generic cables) damaged?
The only similarities here are that The pc remains the same and both devices are kitkat 4.4.2.
Please help!
EDIT: I now have 5 devices here. The Asus Memo Pad 7 ME170C, Lenovo 3500-f, Archos Gamepad, HTC Desire HD and a crappy chinese tablet off ebay (Allwinner A13). The latter 3 are running older versions of android that don't have the whitelisting feature and all show up with their serial numbers ABCDWHATEVER Device when running adb devices but as soon as I run android studio they go offline. The Asus and Lenovo show as ABCDWHATEVER Unauthorized (still not getting the authorization dialog on these two devices) and also go offline when running android studio.
Ok, it looks like i simply cannot access any android device on this PC. I can't even browse the files on the device in windows as the window just locks up and the top green progress bar runs and gradually gets slower then never completes. I'm gonna make a new post on another forum about this since it no longer seems device specific.
Hi I'm wondering if anybody is able to help.
I have a Note 8 and would like to connect it to my 2017 iMac running High Sierra. When I plug my Note 8 in it automatically launches Android file transfer and file transfer usb mode on the phone but I get "Could not connect to device, Try reconnecting or restarting your device". The phone is in the correct mode and knows it's connected to a Mac as it advises I download AFT or Samsung Switch.
The Note connects to a older 2009 MacBook without a glitch and the only difference being I get a Allow prompt every time it connects to the MacBook and not the iMac. (This seems to be the issue not having an allow prompt)
I have reinstalled AFT and are using the supplied USB C cable.
I previously owned a Nexus 6 which connect to the iMac with out issue.
I have just tried a Galaxy Xcover 3 and same issue so it seems to be a Samsung related problem
Many Thanks

Hi All.
I've scoured the net on this one, but keep hitting a wall. Seems to be well known, but not how to fix.
Somewhere along the line, (unfortunately I didn't notice when) my 7 Pro won't now connect to the PC via USB. It did when I first purchased a few months ago, and I recollect taking a UI upgrade at some point.
Developer mode and USB debug is set on. I have the ADB Driver installed, and when I plug the lead in, the PC seems to recognise the phone being plugged in, but then as soon as I confirm 'File Transfer' on the phone, I get the disconnect sound from the PC.
I don't get it. Anyone possibly shed any light please?
Many thanks.
hi
check your phone drivers
change usb port
also change data cable
OK resolved now.
So my phone connected fine to my 2nd PC after I turned on USB Debugging. So I proved the cable too.
When I looked down the list of drivers though on each PC I saw a difference.
The good PC just had Portable Device drivers, not Android Phone drivers. So I added Portable Device drivers from the Actions --> Add Legacy hardware list. When this added, this threw up under the child devices a Lenovo Link entry which was the clue. The lenovo device was old and no longer installed, so I uninstalled this and rebooted a few times.
From then on, the Real Me connects fine.
So there must have been an underlying conflict still in the drivers list with the Lenovo device.
