If you managed to flash your VS980 with a D801 ROM you might be wondering how to get the unit stopping from boot looping.
Unfortunately, the fix @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/lg-g2-unbrickable-fix-real-hard-brick-t2904404 will not work because the two pins which need to be shorted are ALREADY shorted. You may infact damage the unit by doing this.
There is a simpler way. Use the TOT method. However at first this will not work because the boot.img/aboot.img/laf.img are setup to be the D801 type and will not accept a VS980 tot. You'll infact get a CrossDL error.
To recover a VS980 TOT into a D80x 'Download Mode' you need to download a VS980 TOT and modify 4 bytes to trick it into thinking the TOT is a D801 type. Using HxD or a similar hex editor, do a single search for: " VVS980" without quotes in the TOT file.
Modify it to read "VD801(00)" where (00) is hex 00 as the VS980 is 5 characters we need to replace it with only 4 characters of D801, but will need to add another hex byte, so use 00.
You'll now be able to perform a TOT and reload the ROM without a CrossDL error. It's sorta useful if you're trying to get the TMobile SIM into working on a Verizon mobile.
You'll also need to bypass the Verizon activation which you can do here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522646
Hope it saves you time!
Cheers
Thanks, this could potentially be the fix for my problem! I flashed the D801 rom accidentally onto my Verizon Phone. I'm just such a newbie to editing Tot files. I tried following your instruction of changing the VVS980 instance to VD801 but that's resulting in me an Error in FlashTools. Perhaps I am not sure as to the procedure that the (00) would be entered, I've tried all different variations of the line and I receive FAIL or an Error before I even reach ready.
I'd most appreciate your, or anyone who may be familiar's help. I apologize if this is in fact a silly question but I have no experience with TOT editing and I thank you in advance

Lgnpst I actually got it to read though with the vs660.dll though. The dll that lg updater spits out is broken or can't be read by reggie.exe.
In case your wondering lg phones don't connect correctly unless you run the lgnpst program first. Then cdma workshop, dfs and other programs will work correctly. Honestly after going through the motions for awhile I think my best bet would be to erase the phones imei using smart flash then rewriting it using qxdm
So i have seen many guys charging a good amount of money for this, DFS is charging like 50$ per phone. Many guys are struggling to get thr phone working since they are unable to flash Akey/SPC which is needed for some carriers like Reliance, TATA in India atleast.
I'm not going to put usual diag setup stuff right now, or may not able to update it at all.
The below commands should be sent step by step as mentioned through DFS or CDMA workshop or any other tools which you prefer to use. Also you need to first send the 16 digit password for your phone model. I believe for L720 it is "2012112120131219"

In the second last line i.e. "4B1305000000000000000000303030303030", the last 12 digits are your SPC hex value, if you want to change it to anything else like 123456, you need to edit the last 12 digits and make it look like "4B1305000000000000000000313233343536"
----To change the A-Key to anything, in the below case, akey decimal to be flashed is 11111111133333333785 (the akey hex will be: 9A3298B4E238A719)

In the above cmds, if you take a close look at the last 16 characters in the 2nd last line and the mentioned akey hex, you maybe observe that the akey hex in the cmd is in a reverse manner. You can change generate your akey online or via regular tools like DFS and arrange it in the similar manner to flash. You might need to downgrade your modem in order to get this working, please post here if it works without downgrading the modem.
This has been tested on 2xGalaxy Victory and one Sprint L720, so please test and report if this works for you.

Good write up. I flash phones and make tutorials. Some people on here claim they can do this and do that but, haven't written a clear guide yet on how to do it. Lol But, my guides are free and to the public.
Also this should be in the general section. Development is only for roms, etc.
as for resetting the SPC, you will need to downgrade the modem from MF9 to MDL or MDC... i have tried it with MF9 and didn't work...
thanks for sharing

I appreciate your input and help brother thx again.

Thank you this is the only thing i have seen that has actually had some success, at least i did not get any errors but how do i know if the akey is in if i press read i just get a lot of cps errors. DOes the trial version of dfs not let you do anything in the cave ?
anyway thanks again hopefully this works.
Many parameters on a number of phones are write only, so you won't be able to read them.
flashing rom fear
So I got my phone working on my cdma carrier in Indonesia. But now I am concerned about flashing New roms esp using Odin and factory resetting. Will I lose my settings with a factory reset?
How do I flash roms and still keep my network settings?
Thanks

Using cwm to flash another rom
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I have a Sprint SPH-L720. I tired to use the command 4B1305000000000000000000303030303030 it accepts it but responds back with a differnt command and the SPC doesn't change.
I did downgrade the baseband to both MDC and MDL with it still not working.
Any ideas how to change the SPC to 000000?
Been awhile but I thought I posted an update. Downgraded to the MDC modem and tired again and it solved my problem.
Thank you for the awesome post.

You need a PC software such as DFS to send these command to your phone. You also have to enable diag mode in your phone before connecting it to the PC's USB.

To somebody that wants it, i've paid 10 dollars to have this link, Saved my phone after 20 days of bricking.
If you mod your build.prop to another model, you will have problems to use KDZ, then, never do it, but if do, this TOT can save you,

Hi everybody,
i try these files but my phone is LG D958 and now is my phone brick situation. when i tried theese files i seen
" CrossDL [] to [D958]. SWversion[] "
i need dll files for save my phone
- DLL files-LGD958_20131202_LGFLASHv160.zip
or who can give me information how can i change dll file for my d958 ??
Thanks everybody
Maikeu,
Did you happen to notice where you got this from if the D959 (TMobile Version) was available? I would pay for others to have this as I screwed up my phone and couldn't get the kdz to work and without a TOT i was pretty much SOL. I ended up sending the phone back to LG and luckly they repaired it for free.
I swore there was a Korean or Chinese website that was selling the D959 TOT file but I didn't know how to go about paying for it. If you have access to this PM and I'll gladly pay to help out the community.
Thanks!
I don't know how you managed to find TOT d958 file when 958 uses Kdz files!?
Is this some other version of 958 or what?
As I know there's only one and it uses Kdz files!?
please re share tot file of d958. i really need it urgently.

Stuck on Setup after TOT Restore for the Sprint LG G4
I ran into a problem after I followed the steps to restore my LG G4. Now I cant get through the setup process without it returning me to "Set Internet Connection screen". I have a video of this happening but I'm unable to post the link because I'm a new user.
It still returned me to the same screen after I connected to my home wifi and entered my google account info that I last used on there. I also have a video of this.

Ive tried restoring again and got the same result. Also, when I first ran the flash tool I got a "DBMS" window with four options. After doing some research I found out that this shouldn't be happening. So I made sure that the new MegaLock.ddll was being replaced but i still got the same window.

I had the same problem and can fix it, you have to download this file and put it in the DLL option in LG Flash Tool, with TOT Sprint.

You need to download a hex editor and change the header of the tot file from the LS991 to the US991 version. When flashing use the board DL mode, not upgrade mode. Hope this helps.
Search for 991 and look for VLGLS991 and LS991ZV5_05, change it to your US991 file name. In the picture i modified it for the verizon rom I flashed. Yours will be different since you flashed the US991 version. Good Luck

Thanks, btw for those that tried this method. Is /carriers/app still in your phone? I can only find an empty /carrier directory.
EDIT: NVM, I tried inserting my non US GSM SIM and it's already being recognized. Will try if I'll have data.

its working , thanks a lot....
I went and did it. I bricked my new phone. I'm in a pickle here and need help desperately. I know I messed up the carrier folder. I have a backup of it, but don't know how to go about restoring it.
The phone turns on and tells me "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" followed by many more apps force closing.
Wifi, data, and signal all do not work. The phone reboots itself before I can do anything.
If I placed the carrier folder inside the system.img that I have backed up and ran the dd command from download mode, would it restore it?
That's just an idea I had that probably won't work. I really freaking out over this.
I've tried using the dd command on my system image already but the problem is still there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Could maybe flashing someone's carrier image work? If anyone has one I would greatly appreciate it. Please help me, I know I can't be the only person whose had this problem.
Edit 2: My wifi is actually working, I somehow didn't see the icon. But no signal barks appear for the cellular connection.
Try doing the TOT method. Completely puts everything back the way it was. if you're on android M use the ZV9 file and if youre on lollipop use the ZV6 one.
Restore with the TOT... there is a thread with instructions in the forums dev section.
From my experiences with the carrier folder. Files in the carrier folder does not get modified/restored when restoring from a tot file. It stays the same from one rom to the next. I had an issue with activation and updating my prl after doing the sim unlock from http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g4/general/guide-sim-unlock-t3229801 but I fixed that issue by changing the permission of node.db and node.db-journal to rwrwrwrw.
