Hi Guys,
I stupidly did not realise my device (XT1072) was a different slightly different model to the moto g 2014.
I unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP, then tried to install Cyanogenmod 12.1, this failed giving an error "Error executing updater binary in zip" Which I guess is due to it being a different model, right? After receiving this error I did some googling and found on a few sites that I should wipe data, system, cache & dalvik cache to resolve this. I did this and tried to flash it again, with the same error. Now my phone is stuck on the "warning bootloader unlocked screen" I can boot into fastboot mode, but is there any official Motorola images for my device anywhere? I have had a look online and cant find anything. :crying:
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Format system is completely wipe previous android version,
You need a custom ROM (I'm assuming you have custom recovery for your device model)
Or fastboot a original image for you're device

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I also tried with CWM_Touch_Titan_v2 recovery image. But when I tried to flash the stock rom RETGBALL_XT1072_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml using mfastboot method, it shows on the phone screen "image too large".
As you have faced the same problem, would you be kind enough to give a step by step instruction to solve the issue. My phone is just stuck to unlocked bootloader warning screen for days.
My phone is Moto g XT1072 4G LTE.
Your help could save my days...
Thanks.

Why are u flashing an xml file? XML files are not rom files
The link provided above by mic_he has step by step instructions to restore phone back to stock
Your phone is not bricked. You deleted your system so there is no os to boot. The link should restore you back to stock

Thank you,
I have tried those instruction earlier. when I enter "mfastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img" is says "Bootloader preflash validation failed" and when I enter "mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0" onthe phone screen is says "Image too large". After going through all the steps when I reboot, it does not ever get past unlocked bootloader warning screen.
I really do not know which other option to try??

Unmounting system before flashing usually stops that problem. What I like to do is wipe data, system, cache & dalvik then reboot to recovery before flashing the rom.

could you solve the problem with the XT1072?
hello sir! could you solve the problem with thw XT1072? Can you give me some instructions? cheers
It works!!!!! I could restore my system back with these steps!
Here´s the info
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...e-restore-moto-e-2015-stock-firmware-t3054303
I followed the steps and when I was triyng to Flash each of the partitions in sequence using mfastboot get an error
I get an error with one of the files, (don´t remember now but I think was with the mfastboot flash logo logo.bin line
This give me an error, try to fix it and i couldn´t so I continue with the other files in the order listed and when the process was finished the phone was working again!!!!
Enter twrp recovery
Wipe system data cache dalvik
Put any rom like cm in microsd card or usb
And flash it using twrp

Hi, I have facing this problem too on my XT1063. My phone do boot to system but all the app are getting FCs, so I decided to flash another ROM like usual and All of this give me that "Error executing updater binary in zip", so I trie to wipe AND format all partition from TWRP and FASTBOOT with no success. Via Fastboot says: "File system type raw not supported." So I cant change to a new ROM, I cannot even flash other recovery....
So if you guys find a solution of this problem very users like me will be very thankful.

bootloader unlocked is only needed to install twrp - you will get ota updates with locked or unlocked bootloader and they will install if locked or unlocked
its only rooting that causes bootloops and of course you need stock recovery to install - so yes just install updates without worry

Yesterday I unlocked bootloader and installed TWRP following steps from a thread posted here, got it succesfully done and rooted with SuperSU, booted up no problem. But today I made a mistake by booting into TWRP and performing an advanced wipe with all boxes checked (internal storage, cache, dalvik, etc. ). I think this was my mistake... after that I tried to reboot and it said no OS found try to boot?
I booted up and now it is stuck in the white screen of Warning bootloader unlocked page.
Can someone help me? please. Can I recover? Install OS?
Model: Indian Flipkart version, I believe it is Moto X 1092, had marshmallow on it.
You wiped the System partition, that's where the Android OS is installed, you can't recover (unless you made a backup). Now you can either flash a ROM like CyanogenMod and Gapps with TWRP, or you can flash a full factory firmware with fastboot. I don't know which firmware version your phone uses, but here's a list for the Moto X 2014:

Ok, thanks mate I got it that I have to flash a full firmware or a ROM.

I'm only guessing it may be VICTARA_RETEU_XT1092_6.0...
The problem is each firmware version will have modem/radio for a specific region.
Instead of finding what firmware I have to flash, I decided to go with CM 13 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...om-official-cm-13-0-nightly-releases-t3256580 ) and Slim mini Gapps. will that be good?

OK good, but to get info on your phone, boot into bootloader mode, and do "fastboot getvar all", that will show you a lot of specs about your phone, you should copy the info and paste it into Notepad and keep it. Don't paste anything in here though.
NOTE: CM already has root under Developer Options.
So I was following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/general/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-install-t3292684 and when it came to the step to allow modification in twrp I had already goofed up and kept it read only. How do I change this. I cannot find the setting anywhere in twrp???

Could you please be more specific about how you got the option to reappear. I have the exact same issue. Thanks
Not sure if this will fix it or not... but I did the same thing when I first loaded twrp, I didnt allow system mods (or whatever it said) but in recovery if you go to Mount... theres a selection "Mount system partition read-only" that had a check and I unchecked it.
I am only assuming this corrects that issue... hopefully someone can come along and confirm.

I can confirm that unchecking that option solves this. I tried to flash a ROM update once and it gave me an error saying my system partition was read only, and after unchecking that option it flashed correctly.
The reason for having to run adb flash recovery.img (the TWRP custom recovery) is because you chose the read-only mode introduced in v2.8.7.0 of TWRP. It means that the stock recovery will overwrite it if you reboot without selecting keep modifications on that first screen. Tapping on the Keep Read Only button will keep it temporary, but swiping the blue arrows to the right (like I did in the video), will install TWRP permanently. can anyone confirm if this works? also, if i flash a new nightly via TWRP is CM going to overwrite the TWRP recovery? or I just have to wipe the cache and the update is done?

It will overwrite TWRP if you have the developer option checkmark to use CM Recovery. Go into Settings/Developer Options and UNcheck that box.

You should probably ask in the Galaxy S5 help section. That SM-G900p model is for Sprint.

Either
how you flashed in the first place, probably fastboot via PC?
or if it's still in your download folder, go to TWRP "install" and check install "image". Flash it TWRP (reinstall) from there, boot to bootloader and then go back to "recovery".
I use the 2nd method all the time to update to newer versions of TWRP.

That's basically what I said. But for this phone, you would want QUARK TWRP recovery – not hammerhead.
Latest QUARK TWRP:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=39562
(Use most recent date.)
yes, sorry for the wrong model
Ran into the same problem.
Made my device read only at the start up of TWRP by mistake.
Then I followed the advice by unticking the "mount system partition read only" option.
That's when the menu with the question came up again.
I swiped to the right to allow system modifications.
Rebooted into my phone.
Everything working fine phonewise.
Rebooted into bootloader.
Selected recovery.
Stock Recovery appears. :/
Any idea why stock recovery is returning despite having swiped right for allowing modifications on TWRP?
i have officially unlocked my moto g3 xt 1550 bootloader...but whenever i try to root with supersu it gets stuck on bootloader unlocked warning..also the windroid toolkit didnot work for me...any help plzz
Which recovery are you using? I'd recommend TWRP.
Is there any error message in recovery?
Which version of which ROM are you using?
Which version of which su solution are you using?
You need to be more specific if you want people to be able to help you.

You better try the latest supersu (v 2.79) and make a recovery log before you reboot. Also i don't think you need to clear cache or anything.
One more thing: on some devices after you unlock bootloader there is no device corrupt message when you reboot. Which is bad cos the message has to appear during every boot up. If there is no message whatever you tweak with the boot image the device will shut down... It's been solved by swiping allow system modifications in twrp (second screen i guess). After that during every reboot there is the message and then it's safe to install supersu..
However make a recovery log after installing supersu and attach it here. That could help.
Thnx a lot
