Hi Guys,
I stupidly did not realise my device (XT1072) was a different slightly different model to the moto g 2014.
I unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP, then tried to install Cyanogenmod 12.1, this failed giving an error "Error executing updater binary in zip" Which I guess is due to it being a different model, right? After receiving this error I did some googling and found on a few sites that I should wipe data, system, cache & dalvik cache to resolve this. I did this and tried to flash it again, with the same error. Now my phone is stuck on the "warning bootloader unlocked screen" I can boot into fastboot mode, but is there any official Motorola images for my device anywhere? I have had a look online and cant find anything. :crying:
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Format system is completely wipe previous android version,
You need a custom ROM (I'm assuming you have custom recovery for your device model)
Or fastboot a original image for you're device

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I also tried with CWM_Touch_Titan_v2 recovery image. But when I tried to flash the stock rom RETGBALL_XT1072_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml using mfastboot method, it shows on the phone screen "image too large".
As you have faced the same problem, would you be kind enough to give a step by step instruction to solve the issue. My phone is just stuck to unlocked bootloader warning screen for days.
My phone is Moto g XT1072 4G LTE.
Your help could save my days...
Thanks.

Why are u flashing an xml file? XML files are not rom files
The link provided above by mic_he has step by step instructions to restore phone back to stock
Your phone is not bricked. You deleted your system so there is no os to boot. The link should restore you back to stock

Thank you,
I have tried those instruction earlier. when I enter "mfastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img" is says "Bootloader preflash validation failed" and when I enter "mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0" onthe phone screen is says "Image too large". After going through all the steps when I reboot, it does not ever get past unlocked bootloader warning screen.
I really do not know which other option to try??

Unmounting system before flashing usually stops that problem. What I like to do is wipe data, system, cache & dalvik then reboot to recovery before flashing the rom.

could you solve the problem with the XT1072?
hello sir! could you solve the problem with thw XT1072? Can you give me some instructions? cheers
It works!!!!! I could restore my system back with these steps!
Here´s the info
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...e-restore-moto-e-2015-stock-firmware-t3054303
I followed the steps and when I was triyng to Flash each of the partitions in sequence using mfastboot get an error
I get an error with one of the files, (don´t remember now but I think was with the mfastboot flash logo logo.bin line
This give me an error, try to fix it and i couldn´t so I continue with the other files in the order listed and when the process was finished the phone was working again!!!!
Enter twrp recovery
Wipe system data cache dalvik
Put any rom like cm in microsd card or usb
And flash it using twrp

Hi, I have facing this problem too on my XT1063. My phone do boot to system but all the app are getting FCs, so I decided to flash another ROM like usual and All of this give me that "Error executing updater binary in zip", so I trie to wipe AND format all partition from TWRP and FASTBOOT with no success. Via Fastboot says: "File system type raw not supported." So I cant change to a new ROM, I cannot even flash other recovery....
So if you guys find a solution of this problem very users like me will be very thankful.
Hi, everyone this is my first post.
Though I am not new to rooting, but earlier i used to do one click root..so unrooting was also that damn easy.
Recently i rooted my moto x 2nd gen xt1092 by unlocking bootloader and after flashing TWRP and later using SuperSu.
But here is the catch I didn't take nandroid backup before rooting.
So my question is
1 If I take backup now , will this backup be a rooted backup , means that if in future I flash this backup my phone will be directly boot in rooted mode..?
2 If I unroot using supersu are there chances I may stuck in bootloop?
3 now as I alreday have Twrp flashed how can I get to my original OS I once had? 9(system recovery image)
Plz let my doubts get cleared.
thanks in advance

1. yes, you can do a full backup of system, data, recovery, boot, etc (default configuration of backup) and when you do a restore you have the same root system.
2, sometimes, you have a 50% of possible failure, the best option is flash the stock system files and after do a ota update or similar (never do a downgrade, can kill your phone(hardbrick))
3. Via bootloader (down volume button when you turn on the phone)
Write or copy this lines on bootloader mode (in the same folder where you have execute the command for your unlock code for the unlock of boot loader)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
The recovery is on image of StockRom.
Sorry my English, I`m Chilean.

Thanks cyke31.
My two doubts are absolutely clear.
I have a doubt regarding the 3 point.
where I will find that recovey.img file?
And after flashing that recovery.img file will I get back to my stock rom, that I had before TWRP was installed ?
Can I take OTA updates?
Will TWRP get uninstalled ?
your english is pretty good..
I am Indian ....so don't worry . I'm not grammar NAZI..

I recommend downloading the stock rom and do a clean install , because any change you've made in system, will generate bootloop...
Here the links to the Rom (you must download The xt1092 version)
Firmwares 4.4.4 hasta 5.0.X: https://mega.co.nz/#F!TkIwRTjR!m7W1V35qfLBiiUargAx1vg
Firmwares 5.1 y 6.0: https://mega.co.nz/#F!ow8igZRL!Z7vmN8GOpez2bVMYDvEKkg
And them install via guides on xda.

so its better to flash system files than flashing recovery.img
though I'm in no mood to unroot my device. just wanted to know the consequences. I'll do normal backup of my current rooted rom. If in case anything happens I'll flash stock system files from motorola website.
Thanks for the info.
Xposed is the reason I rooted my device. Heard that is better to take nandroid backup before installing Xposed.

All you can try now is go and flash the factory firmware stock (according previous android version 5.0.2 or 6.0)
Factory firmware flashing doesnt require bootloader to be unlocked so u can try this

As I previously said (according to your previous android version means when phone is dead then whatever is the android version (5.0.2 or 6.0) you need to flash the files.)
For eg.
If (your phone is on 5.0.2) then
you need to flash stock 5.0.2 firmware.
elseif (your phone is on 6.0) then
you need to flash stock 6.0 firmware.
endif.
Note: Don't flash wrong files, else it's gonna brick the device.
Don't ever downgrade from latest android version to previous.
Thanks

So you can try again but with right things right files and carefully.

A little bit of help needed...
Hi,
I basically did the same mistake as the other guys, unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp, all fine. Then I ***** up by trying to root fellowing a tuto made for the non-Che2-L11 ones.
I have no problem going into TWRP, the bootloader, or the black screen from huawei (witch looks like.. some kind of second recovery ?)
I managed to download the stock software from huawei ( Honor 4X Firmware (Che2-L11, Android5.1.1, EMUI3.1, C636B360, Malaysia)S.zip ) and also managed to download a version of HuaweiUpdateExtractor ( 0.9.9.5 ).
My problem now, is that if I understood correctly, I should extract the image files from the APP from the firmware zip I downloaded from Huawei.
Unfortunatly, there is no HuaweiUpdateExtractor profile for the honor 4x Che2-L11.
There I may need assistance, or guidance.
Does the profile already exists somewhere ?
How can I create my own, is it not too complex ?
Maybe someone already extracted thoses files and could make them available somewhere ?
Or maybe is there any other way to unbrick my phone ?
************************************
EDIT: Nevermind. I managed to extract the files without profiles. I flashed them 3 but nothing really changed.. So.. I'm kinda stuck. no Idea from here.
************************************
************************************
EDIT (of the edit) : Nevermind the previous nevermind ! It actually worked ! Well, kinda.. Seems my new "stock rom" is quite buggy, strangly, but nevertheless, it work Thanks

Thanks a lot.

ISN'T NECESSARY MTK DROID TOOLS OR OTHER MTK TOOLS , JUST MTK ENGINEER MODE IN LP FIRMWARE
This way it’s permanent just if you don’t wipe nvram & nvdata partitions and work only on who have LP and MM Firmware + TWRP Recovery for LP Firmware

Go back to LP Firmware [trought SP FLash Tools],
Restore IMEI with MTK Engineer Mode,
Flash TWRP,
Wipe cache,
Backup nvram,
Restore backup of nvram,
Install stock recovery,
Wipe cache,
Update again to MM using OTA
After MM is booted up ,
You will see IMEI,
Reboot to Recovery [Stock]
Wipe cache,
Install TWRP 2.8.7-N (Download)
[Trought SP FLash Tools]
To install TWRP with success , after TWRP is flashed just reboot to recovery first!
If you reboot first to system , will replace twrp with stock recovery , and entrie operation need to repeat [ from installing twrp ]
READY , NOW YOU HAVE PERMANENT FIX IMEI FOR ALL DEVICES [MTK] WHICH HAVE LP & MM FIRMWARE + TWRP ON BOTH VERSIONS
IF YOU WILL DO FACTORY RESET , IMEI WILL BE STILL HERE , NO ERASE , 100% TESTED

Thanks for your effort IacobIonut-DW, and it works great, but only if you decide to use Blu's Stock Marshmallow ROM.
The bad news is that the problem is still present if one goes beyond stock and try to install any other custom ROM like AEX or Resurrection Remix ROMs.
I think that most people here want to skip using the stock (while rooted) ROM and experiment with other ROMs like AEX and RR.
Any pointers would be welcomed!
In the meantime, I am on MM Stock, Rooted and debloated.

So you're saying that you have AEX running (or other custom ROM) with your Blu Vivo XL without losing both IMEI?
I'll try it out later, but just checking in the meantime

It works very well and I was really surprised at the speed with which the operating system loads. Although surely much is because I have not installed the gapps yet.
Awesome to know!
But I'll have to ask which S Plus rom variant did you use? I found three different ones with different numbers. ?
Also what Custom ROM did you installed?
Thanks in advance!

Hmmm, even after trying all that's been said here, I simply can't keep the IMEI functions after flashing any custom ROM. I know my way around custom roms since the XDA days but this one is really getting on my nerves... U_U
Nevermind I have it working now!!!... With your feedback I was able to come up with a different path to get the firmware directory in place without corrupting the ROM.
