I have an AT&T 2014 Moto X (XT1097) with Android 5.0.2. As many of you may be aware there is a memory leak bug. How can I make the phone automatically reboot at a specific time once per day so I don't have a slow down in performance due to the memory leak bug?

I have a moto x 2014 pure edition running 5.0 lollipop, I had lollipop with few operational upsets for a good week or so and decided to root my device. After root I noticed the phone will lag, not extraordinarily often but it happens every day, it will also sometimes freeze up and reboot randomly when performing tasks like pulling down the notification shade or anything really. Has anyone else noticed this? and is there a fix or should I just unroot the system?

I'm interested in the feedback you get. Try posting in the thread in General called Root Achieved Lollipop....
Just got a new Moto X (2014) Pure Edition XT1095. Came with stock Lollipop 5.0 (LXE22.46-11).
My setup:
- Moto X (2014) Pure Edition XT1095
- stock Lollipop 5.0 (LXE22.46-11)
- I did not unlock the bootloader and did not root it.
- I set it up normally, installed basic apps like Google Voice and Yelp. And let most of the Moto settings (for Gestures and such) remain default.
My issue:
- random lock up (freezing) when the phone is sleeping (screen is off) after certain periods of time and will not wake up
- only way to get it working again, is to force power it off and then turning it back on by holding the Power button until the Motorola boot logo appears
What I have done so far:
- went into stock Recovery Mode and cleared the cache.... lock up still happens
- reset phone back to default (thinking it could be conflict with apps or updates)..... still happens
- reset phone back to default and did not even log into any Google Account.... still happens
- i decided to stress test the phone with StabilityTest and the CPU, GPU and RAM seemed to check out fine after about 3 hours of stress testing.
I think its software related (or I hope it is).
- so I got a hold of the stock boot, recovery, system, radio IMG files and flashed them in the bootloader successfully.
- everything booted up like normal, but same thing occurs
- thought it was the screen, but all ADB commands ceases to work when the freeze occurs, so it's not the screen.
- decided to look at the logcat and saw this over and over again

A lot of errors that read:
WifiStateMachine CMD_START_SCAN
There seems to be errors that are wifi based, is this a Lollipop issue?
I am about to unlock the bootloader and root the phone to see if this does anything, which doubt it would. Then I might go back to 4.4.4 to see if it still locks up.
Any suggestions?
Should I just return the phone? I was hoping to keep it since I like the Moto X design and features.... or go to a Nexus 6.
Update:
it still freezes and locks up during times its not sleeping.
Revert to KK..give Google time for a few more OTA's..then MAYBE try again..lol

UPDATE:
- downgraded to stock 4.4.4 successfully.
- logcat showing none of this WifiStateMachine errors anymore (they come up as Debug messages now, I can live with that)
leaving apps and settings default, we'll see if its stable. (crossing fingers)

That's probably true.
But in my case, its looking like a defective aspect in the unit causing it to randomly crash (freeze) regardless of which build or version of Android I am using.
Just crashed twice in the last 12 hours with stock 4.4.4 and no apps installed. Logcat showing no errors either.

"Praise Jah" YOU people.!
I owned a Moto G 4G, It had a problem with force closing apps, launcher redraws and the rest, some issue with managing RAM and killing apps. I bought a 2014 Moto G, same issue. Anyway I foolishly bought a Nokia 930 and am looking to go back to Android as cheaply as possible so am wondering if these issues got fixed with Lollipop?
They are a little better, but not completely gone.
Just a quick question for everyone. My apps close by themselves in the background. WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are the 2 worst perpetrators. I will stop receiving messages unless I open the app once every 15 minutes. If I forget, I'll open the app and suddenly get flooded with a ton of "new" messages.
This only started happening since 5.0. I've unlocked my bootloader and installed the Pure Edition 5.0.1 and then upgraded to 5.1 leak and have the same issue. I've wiped my phone and that does nothing. I don't think it's the memory leak glitch because I will have more than 1gb of RAM free when these problems are happening.
Is it a rogue setting in 5.0 that's causing these problems? Has anyone seen this before? I'm back on my 2013 Moto X temporarily until I figure this out, but I'd love to go back to my 2014 X.
Thanks everybody!
This is a known memory leak issue with 5.0. It's supposed to be fixed with 5.1 but I haven't had an update so I can't confirm. Music playing in the background and Bluetooth are issues for me.

Same problem here. For me, the app which gets restarted most often is Nova Launcher. Rebooting the phone fixes this for some time (one or two days) but eventually it come back again

I agree with TriumphGuy and am pretty sure the source *is* the memory leak bug since the symptoms are the same.
BTW I will be very disapointed if this issue is confirmed not being fixed un the upcoming 5.1 official release
Hello there,
I'm experiencing a problem with my Moto G 2014 XT1068.
When I'm inside an app and tab the multitask button. The app shrinks to a certain size and then it jumps to the stack of running apps. This looks very unsmooth and buggy. I'm wondering if this is a problem with 5.0.2 or some kind of bug and if i;m the only one experiencing this problem.
Kind regards
5.0.2 has a memory leak and Moto G only has 1GB of RAM so the multitasking is not the best on our phone unfortunately.
