Hey, phone is rooted and unlocked on stock rom, headphones with mic work fine but for some reason when using standard TRS aux lead in car and with DJ mixer, it still sends audio through phone speaker. So annoying. Especially as I DJ and was using my phone as a third audio source at a gig with the djay2 app and it didn't work. I had to use sound about to get it working. Any ideas ?
I don't like the idea of having to install an app to fix an issue that simply shouldn't be there. I've uninstalled viper and everything to see if that's causing it, to no avail. Factory reset maybe ?

Viper is indeed the culprit. You'll have to dirty flash your ROM in order to get it working again. That, slowly plugging the Jack in or flashing the beats mod will solve the problem

Hey, thank you for the reply. What actually is happening then? Is there a search term I can use on Google, to investigate this problem ? Is it a common bug with viper?
I had to enable permissive kernel in SELINUX, fx compatible in viper and unchecked nuplayer in developer options...... Was any of this the cause?
It makes me wish I never rooted now, I might just flash the stock rom again and leave it at that. I'll do some testing before hand I guess because to be fair viper is a good mod. I just can't afford to be larking around with a simple Aux lead when i have another DJ gig.
I tried the Jack pushed in slow and it worked there was audio there from car speakers but it was way down low volume wise. It was defo not right...

Try Turning the volume up and open another music app .
Erm ... no Tried almost everything....players...youtube...flash
.no sound even in the android(ringtones , etc.)...Ive noticed that it didn't charging also... is it possible to be drom clockwork ?( highly doubdt that )but once i reach enough battery percentage ill install the latest recovery...im stuck i WebOS for now :/
The only thing I would think to do is flash the ROM you are using again and see if it fixes anything. But you said its with all ROMs which doesnt make sense. Maybe its an app you have installed thats turning volume off. Its hard to say
I'm flashing it and installing NOTHING but google apps ... same sh*t :<
Oh ... btw no more sound in headphones too.
I think i found the Issue... its like the tablet constantly thinks that there is something in the jack ( headphones for example...) Is the any way to activate the speakers even with jack in the 3.5 port ?
Use the old sound drivers maybe

My old Pre Plus used to have that happen. Made by the same company so go figure. Lol. Try putting the headphones in and out until it triggers the connector and goes back to speaker sound. Don't be too rough with it though. I don't know if it will be the same but on my old phone, you plugged the headphones in and pulled out with some slight pressure towards the front. If your Touchapad thinks there is headphone in there when there's not, you just have to trigger that connection so it goes back. You can try cleaning the headphone port too if possible. There could be dust in there.
I've tried the in/out yesterday...it dint't worked. Today it hitter me that I've tried only cm9 and 10 based ROMs...so I've downloaded the classic nerd and everything worked fine...but I don't really like the ROM....Can anyone provide a link for the old sound drivers , pretty please :good:
My tablet constantly thinks that there are headphones attatched...but have no problems in classic nerd nor webos :/
As a temporary fix, try an app named SoundAbout.
Anyone out there having issues with your mic "not working"
Well I have.
I have tried different fixes found on the net to no avail.
Soundabout app which switches where your audio is routed and such. Also fixes your phone if its "stuck " in headset mode. This worked for like 1 day then it went back to the caller not hearing me.
I tried easy voice recorder pro that didnt work.
I tried faux kernel and his app to boost the mic gain..... no go there either.
Some even said 4.3 update fixed... not for me.
I even fastbooted the .img Still a no go.
I could speak directly into the mic and the other end could barely hear me. If i held the phone normal ...nada.
If i put the call on speaker the top mic switched in and all was great....
I just about ordered myself a replacement mic and charger port board when I decided to take a look at the build prop.
I found an entry that had mic in it so I googled that entry and came up with Noise Cancelation. hmmmm
Here is the build prop....
"persist.audio.handset.mic.type"
Using ROM toolbox I changed its values from "digital" to "analog" rebooted and voila Callers could hear me again.
I'm only going on one day with no issues.
I've been banging my head, searching, and reading to solve the issue. I saw where several people had to RMA their new devices one dude had 4 replacements and was still experiencing the issue.
For everyone experiencing this issue I hope it helps

Thanks. I flashed back to stock + unroot, guess I'm gonna try your method once again.
ok
Can you please demonstrate how you did this exactly. I'm really don't want to have to import parts.
I have an unrooted, locked, never been dropped HTC One.
The headphone socket has stopped working. I've gentley cleaned it out with a q-tip, given it a blast of compressed air etc but it's made no difference.
Is there anything I can check to see if I can get it working again?
Secnod point. The first time it didn't work was the day after I'd updated to 4.4.2. Fluke or connected?
Anyone got any ideas?

have you tried some other headphones?
does the sound come out of the speakers even if you have the headphones plugged in?
does the headphone symbol come up in the statusbar?

Yes - have tried other headphones
Yes - sound comes out of speakers with headphones plugged in
No headphone symbol in the statusbar
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like a hardware problem to me. What you tried was good, but I think you probably need to send it off for repair

thinking outside the box.... nice. :good:
Thanks for your help. Bluetooth route seems less hassle.
Since it happened day after upgrade, and you are locked/unrooted, why don't you boot into safe mode (not sure the steps, but Google HTC boot safe mode). Then plug headphones in, see if it works then.
Last resort, do a system reset before sending in also to see if that solves it. I hate to sound like typical HTC support, but give it a shot. Just seems to coincidental to me right after phone upgraded.

Full reset, and if that doesn't work, i'm afraid you are going to have to send it in
It's definitely hardware. If I push the jack to the right (while looking from the front) with the jack fully in it will work. That makes me wonder if there's something I could do from the top with a jewellers screwdriver? Any thoughts?
Hello everyone.
I have a wierd issue and I have no clue if its hardware or software related. The problem is when I plug my earphones in (Sennheiser CX215), the audio and all the sounds comes out through the external speaker instead of the earphone. It doesnt always happen, sometimes the earphones would work without any hiccup, no crackling or bad sound.
I checked the jack for any loose connections and found none.
However I must add that rebooting the phone solves the sound problem whenever it occurs. So I must be guessing its a software bug (right??)
Anyways, I wanna know if anybody is having any audio or headphone jack problems ??
EDIT: And yes, I plugged the earphones all the way in. And the bootloader is unlocked without any rooting. Im currently using ''sound about'' app to divert the audio to earphones. A tad annoying
Using CX-180 with Moto G 2014, working absolutely fine. No issues here. Sound is clear and loud.
Did you test other headphones? Do a factory reset and try again.
The audio is clear and without any distortion when it works. The issue is all the sounds and i mean all the sounds comes out through the external speakers even when earphones are plugged in. I think the OS fails to recognize if the earphones are plugged in.
And another problem is that I have no other earphones xD.
Let me try a factory reset and then Ill report back. *sigh* all my data down the drain

I had the exact same problem with the headphones I use with my PC. But I tried a friends Sony headphone and it worked. So, it does look like the OS fails to recognize some particular headphones.
The same happened with me while using xiaomi piston 2 headphones....but it happens once in 10 times....so not an issue!
I think i should ask company for replacement... Its a hardware issue according to me... And bundled headphones work fine but are of pathetic quality

I was using my skullcandy headset on my phone and everything was working fine, until I (like an idiot) tried to adjust the headset gain value while the headset was plugged in. Then, I could hear buzzing in my earphones and when I plug it in, it says headset not supported. I tried a clean flash of the ROM to no avail. Then I flashed the Z3 sound files and tried, and it worked for a bit, but the sound was coming from both the headset and the speaker. So assuming it was an issue with the Z3 sound files, I flashed back the Stock sound files for mono. Now, it's not recognizing and headset or headphones(which was previously working when the headset wasn't being recognized) and when I pull it out of the jack, it says headset not recognized. Have I broken my headset jack? I use my phone for music, and this is really important. I'm praying I haven't and that there's a fix. Please help..

I do have an unlocked bootloader. I flashed v15 and it seems to be working with headphones (which don't have an inline mic) haven't tested the headset for fear of losing even headphones functionality. I'll test headset in the evening and if it doesn't work, I'll try a reflash of the kernel.
Is headset functionality also tied to kernel? I thought it was a ROM function. Really appreciate the help

If u are saying the the stereo mod v15, it is a bit buggy
i got left side and right side volume different = =""
this version may messed up with kernel volume control a bit
yeah everything is finally controlled by the kernel actually
Try using pimp my z1 and set value in Headphone analog gain, it fixed the s**t up (for me)
or if u want good and stable music quality, use dreamingonmusic v11z

I'll try the headset, see if it works, if not, reflash stock sound files, see if it works, if not reflash kernel. Thanks for all the help man, really appreciate it, you're awesome!
The problem arose when I tried changing the value on pimp my Z1 while the headset was connected. So I'm not playing with the pimp my Z1 settings anymore. Uninstalled it.

Maybe u should refresh the rom without any mod to test it instead, becoz the "stock mod" may not be able to completely clean off the s**ts

I reflashed the ROM. I'm hoping flashing the kernel fixes it.
Thanks man, narrowed down the issue. My headset is ****ed. The second I connect it, it's ****ing everything up. So that's the culprit. Simple reboot fixes it and I can use headphones.
Thanks so much for your help, unfortunately even a kernel reflash didn't help. I botched something with the headset when I adjusted the output while connected. Thanks a ton for your help and support. This is why I love xda. The power of the community.
Thanks a bunch.
