First thread on here so forgive me for being a noob.
Two weeks ago I set my HTC One M7 to updated to lollipop before I went to bed. When I woke up it was still stuck on updating. I rebooted my phone and it was then bricked.
Took it to a phone repair shop and was told it failed because I didn't have enough free memory on the phone for the software to extract and install so it failed. They tried resetting to factory settings etc but no joy, there was no boot file.
After TWO WEEKS with the phone they have now managed to install lollipop on the device and everything seems to be in working order, except.... I have all my contacts backup up Dropbox using HTC Backup app. So now that I have my phone back I want to restore from Dropbox.
The only problem is that 'HTC Backup' is not on Google Play store. When I searched for HTC Backup on Chrome it gave me the option to open in the Play Store but with the error "Your device is not compatible with this version".
Firstly, is there a reason why HTC Backup is now not compatible since I upgraded to Lollipop?
Is there any other way of restoring my backup from Dropbox without using HTC Backup app?
Please let me know if you need any more info that I may have let out.

First off, I know that I need Sense for my HTC One to be compatible with HTC Sync Manager. That's not the issue. The issue is that I backed everything up with HTC Sync and now there is no way to get all that stuff back onto my HTC One without having Sense. Furthermore, I had to reinstall HTC Sync Manager several times to get it to work and in the process it had erased my back up and I tried doing a system restore, but the drive that my back up was on was set to not save restore points. I downloaded a recovery program and was able to recover 80-90% of the files. The issue is that I still have no way, to my understanding, of putting them back on my phone or even opening them as they are all encrypted. Or whatever it is that HTC Sync Manager does to files when it backs them up. So you can see the predicament I'm in and it's not a favorable one.
Lastly, I'm beginning to regret doing this and it's making me feel terrible.
Please, if anyone can help I would be so relieved.

yesterday i rooted my xperia T lt30p with towelroot and after few hours i noticed that i don't have any connection with google services, mainly play store and account sync, i then paniced, asked for help and searched the forum myself and as a rookie messed up, by one guide i deleted hosts in system/etc/ and then followed a differend advice to flash a recovery mod and install google apps from sd card, i did both and after it failed i stupidely flashed the stock firmware again not realizing that if it failed (as it did) i wouldn't have access to my sd card as xperia doesn't come with any kind of file manager.
can anyone help me? i'm getting rather desperate, i'm new to android, i bought the phone last week and before that i've mainly used a "dumb phone" and zte blade just to play with android a little
solved / after all that hardship i went to settings and forgot my wifi then reconnected and it worked, i also set the time manually thought i'm not sure it helped
I accidentally did a factory reset and forgot to backup photos. I don't want to lose the photos as they are very precious to me. I have tried various software that claim to recover photos however I have had no luck as they are not able to detect phone (I tried developer mode).
I'm willing to pay money to get help on this one.
First you have wrong the thread. This is Nexus One not HTC One. Second, you must install the correct phone drivers from HTC support website. Then you can use a dedicated recovery software like Recuva, Undelete 360, Paragon or what I recommend File Scavenger. Some are free some not. Good luck!. Take care and don´t install anything on phone because if you overwrite the data the recovery chances decrease.
Hi guys,
I have just rooted my HTC One M7, which previously upgraded to Lollipop 5.0.2.
However, the problem turns out when I tried to restore my backup.ab file (around 600 MB) and it said "restoration ended" as soon as "com.android.providers.contacts" appeared so I couldn't back up any of my data.
I tried to unroot and used RUU to flash my HTC back to stock, but the same thing happened and I couldn't process my backup through the "com.android.provider.contacts". Searched forums and internet but there is no clear and feasible solution for this.
Could anyone help me to save my data since I don't want to lose my contacts and photos in the file (the games are not so important). Please help, thank you very much in advance.

Hi, i'm currently experience this
After install new ROM from the store a year ago (4.4.2) from some story, my htc start having these problem
When i'm using, some apps can be crashed then make the phone restart (mostly google.*** app)
When i try to factory reset, recovery (viper one) or install new rom, the data won't change (video below)
I installed Viper One ROM from last night but the phone still remain same
When update RUU, it stuck at "Waiting for Bootloader" phase then the box "Can't find device, please check USB connection
show up even though i didn't touch the wire
