So I've had three Turbos and all of them hang then restart. (first was for the crashing, second was for a screen default + crashing and I've got the third and it crashes)
I'll just be in the middle of watching a Youtube video via the app and it'll just hang and restart. Or I can be opening a new app, closing out of an old one, waking the device up. Basically it just crashes for no reason, same thing with all three I've had. And this isn't an occasional thing we're talking 10+ crashes a day, usually within every 5-10 minutes of use.
I've tried factory resets and not installing any 3rd party apps, still crashes. Tried not using WiFi, still crashes.
Getting ready to throw this thing through a wall, basically it's unusable and I have no idea what to do besides get a different phone.
I have had a few random reboots, seems like mostly when it's connected to my bluetooth in the car.
I just don't understand why three of these phones all do exactly the same thing. I'm certain it's nothing I've done as I get the same results even immediately after factory resetting.
Was there, perhaps, a case which you used with all three phones?
A random reboot is oftentimes a result of overheating.

Never overheated, I monitor battery temps constantly. Usually it was in the low 30c range.
Are you getting them directly from Moto? I've had two thanks to a faulty sim tray/volume rocker and neither has ever done this.
My girlfriend's Droid Mini did the random reboot thing. It seems some Moto phones are just lemons, though three in a row seems to defy the odds.

App issue
I've had three as well (a broken screen and a charging port that I ruined myself.) All three have been flawless, and I also sell Verizon for a living with basically zero complaints or returns on them. Either you are the most unlucky guy alive, or you have an app that is jacking something up.

I can't put my finger on this issue I've been having with my Note.
Don't get me wrong, this device is a godsend!
The problem I've been having is that sometimes when I take my Note out of my pocket and try to press the unlock or menu button it doesn't show anything on the screen. I've read about people having issues with delay before it pops up, but it doesn't pop up even after 10 seconds or a minute, it feels like the device 'hangs' or doesn't want to wake up. The only way I can turn the phone on again is by pressing the unlock button for like 10 seconds and the phone reboots.
I thought it was a problem with Green Power, I thought it maybe had issues turning off the wifi or data when the screen was locked and that the service would cause the OS to crash or 'hang'. When I look at my battery history after the reboot it shows that I lost a significant amount of battery (5-15%, depending on how long it took for me to 'discover' the crash) and there's a 'jump' in the graph.
Things I've tried:
Stock rom - problem persists
Different kernels - tried all the kernels available in the market including stock, problem persists
Add a bit of paper between back-cover and battery (to make sure it doesn't lose contact)
Checked if there was dust between battery connections
Tried different sim card
Tried disabling wifi and data all day (mysteriously persists)
DIfferent governors (ondemand and interactive) (the phone reverts to default governor after the forced reboot, normal? i have my phone set to interactive on boot, but somehow it skips that after the forced reboot)
I've attached a picture of the battery graph. According to the stats there's a 25 minute gap where the phone was 'stuck' and you can see that the screen was on and active for that duration.
There are NO funny apps running in the background, this is is a clean install with some standard Samsung apps frozen.
tl;dr version: phone randomly won't wake up; battery loss after forced reboot;
I might have found the issue myself. Now when I come to think of it, I think it always occurs after I've been in my car for like a 30 min drive... Maybe the phone is having trouble switching networks? Anyone know what might be causing this?
Or better yet, how can I research this issue? Can I enable some logging somewhere to track this?
I had the note for about 10 days and today, about 1 hour ago it happened to me for the first time. I tried the home button to wake the screen but nothing, tried the power , nothing and holding the power but nothing happened. I had to pull the battery.
I had this problem in the beginning, but no more.
It's one of two things, in my case. Restoring apps (with data) from Titaium backup, or SetCPU or both. Do a factory reset, reinstall apps without data. If using setCPU, disable it for a while to see if it happens again. It's been over a week and the problem is gone.

I was using System Tuner instead of SetCPU to freeze apps and change governor, maybe I've just been using the wrong app? I deleted it just in case. Will see if the problem persists, thanks!
The nasty thing about it is that it seems to happen randomly (but it most likely doesn't) and is pretty rare (happens once every 3 days).
Still, I don't like the fact of not being available for X amount of time, even if it's 30 minutes.
I'm on stock room and unrooted. Like I said first time it's happened.
i've had the GNote since 4 days now , and yesterday same thing happened as the device was in my pocket and i couldnt wake it up at all , battery pull solved it.
im on stock , non rooted
I can't believe that we are the only ones with this issue. Anyone else? OR better yet, how did you resolve it?
Dont know if this is the same issue as the streak had, but with the streak if you kept it your pocket with the screen facing your body this would sometimes happen. Flipping it so that it that the screen doesnt face your body in your pocket solved this issue.

Thanks for your reply. I did some research, and apparently it had to do with static being built up in the screen from wearing it towards your body in your pocket.
This issue was that you couldn't swipe the lockscreen cause the touch screen wouldn't respond. The problem we are having is that the screen won't even turn on and that the system locks up.
Same issue here with my 2 days old Galaxy Note, that's how I found this forum. In my case it went from not waking up occasionally to every time WIFI was ON (I did some experimenting with settings to see which one could be the one causing the problem). But then...occasionally it would not wake up even with WIFI OFF: very annoying. And this is my first Android, so I didn't have any custom anything, pretty much same as out of the box when I got it The only solution was to reset the handset. And definitely has nothing to do with having it in my pocket as I don't carry it in my pocket. Rang Samsung, they told me it was faulty, I returned it. Now I'm concern the next one is going to have screen issues? As so many people complain in this forum? we'll see.
My issues have been resolved after flashing AbyssNote 1.4 and when I stopped using System Tuner. I've started using Voltage Control instead and now I'm not even having problem @ 100Mhz undervolted 50mV from stock.
Same problem with my wife's Gnote, totally stock, just a small handful of apps installed. Happened twice, about a week apart.
She does a lot of travelling, maybe you're right about that. But it happens after she gets home when it's still OK.
Had the same same issue twice in two days and had to do a battery pull, just did a master reset and re -installed the applications manually, so far so go.
YOu guys think its a hardware or a software issue?
Hmm.. Happened to me too about three times in the last two weeks. I am on stock rom but rooted, and running Green Power. Hopefully samsung will fix it in the next updates. Seems like a software bug to me. Maybe not enough juice when in deep sleep?

Hello
its the problem of your kernel. try Abyys 1.4 and use XDA Superpower to adjust the CPU-Frequency automatically

It's very well possible that the stock kernel has faulty settings for the CPU. Haven't had the problem again with AbyssNote 1.4 and Voltage Control (even with custom cpu frequencies)
I just got my note today.
Battery in, turnt it on a few mins playing around.... the problem started
and hasnt since stopped...
Anyone tried contacting samsung about this?

at this point we're just guessing, there haven't been any official confirmations of the problem as far as i know.
But if it's so accute that it keeps happening all the time you must have a faulty device.. call samsung ?
So I will preface with the fact that I'm on my second s6 edge 64GB. The first one had same issues.
Essentially 80% of the time this phone functions and works with no problem still the best phone I've ever used. However, it will heat up randomly, or so I thought, to the point of the first one burning me and leaving red marks on my hands. This is what prompted the first exchange.
Now this one is doing the same. It seems to be triggered when I enable wifi but I haven't been able to pin point exactly what it is. It also seems to get really bad when I have it on the charger.
Attached you can see the result of the worst it's gotten.
Anyone else having overheating issues like this?

I use wifi all the time and actually leave wifi on all day long. Never had this issue. If you are having the same issue with two phones, you should check out apps you installed.
Definitely get it back to stock even if you have to reset and see if the same issue exists. if it does then I would get with Samsung again for another replacement
As someone who is on their 3rd phone for factory defects, I can tell you my 2nd one was MUCH hotter than any of the other ones. I'm not sure what causes it, but it seemed hardware related.

The only time mine gets THAT hot (to the point of triggering the cool down mode even), is if I'm tethered, and charging, and even then it's hit or miss. If I start doing stuff on the phone at the same time though, then it'll ramp up quickly. It actually shut down skype on me yesterday doing that, but I was pushing it pretty hard. Skype on the phone, charging, and hotspot to the PC downloading a 2 gig file. Normal wifi tho, no issues on my end.
Might be go to do with the kernel for WiFi. Maybe you can get a replacement with a different variant?

You could always download CM Security off the market and it will analyze what's causing your phone to heat up. Sorry if that wasn't helpful. I use that app daily to keep my phone freed up and secured.

The edge was designed and intended to be used as a clothes iron.
(Disclaimer: I take no responsibility if you use it as one and it causes a fire)
After tons of trial and error I don't have it happen almost all all now that I use smart wifi toggle app. Think wifi in a weak signal area also was to blame. It was constantly trying to connect and reconnect. Also, most recently it got hot, but not to the extreme, when I started looking at theme store again. So wifi issues and or theme store are contributors.

Anyone else with this phone using Android Auto? I've been having issues with my Kenwood DDX9207S head unit where it sometimes doesn't initialize AA properly, is more often than not very laggy, etc. Sometimes it runs smoothly, as I would expect for a phone of this class with these specs, but it's getting pretty frustrating. I've tried clearing Android Auto's data/cache and uninstalling and reinstalling it, but nothing seems to help. I'm not sure if it's an AA issue, phone issue, or possibly the head unit (very doubtful, but the screen sometimes stays stuck on AA after disconnecting the phone). I can sometimes resolve the issue simply by unplugging and replugging the phone in, sometimes I have to kill all app processes, and sometimes I have to flat out reboot the phone.
EDIT:
Did some testing last night and this morning during my commute (I sit in a lot of traffic, don't worry) and found a possible culprit: Settings. I looked at the memory usage for apps, and without fail, everything was using very little memory except Settings, which was eating 100-300mbs. Killing the process instantly made AA responsive again, but within 5-10 minutes, I was seeing lag again, and Settings was building up memory usage. I'm going to perform a factory reset on the phone today to see if that alleviates the issue.
EDIT II:
After factory resetting the phone, I'm not seeing issues, SO FAR, with AA. The settings thing wasn't the right target. I still get high RAM numbers with it regardless, and I see the same thing on my Tab S2, so that's obviously not what was causing the issue. The difference *might* be that I disabled a lot of AT&T bloatware before, and in doing so might have messed something up. I'm leaving everything enabled right now, so we'll see how this goes. I only have one car ride under my belt so far, so it's not a very scientific comparison.
EDIT III:
Ran into the exact same issues earlier this afternoon. Plugged the phone in, got the "Accept" screen on my head unit, and then blank. I looked at my phone and realized that AA didn't actually launch, so I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It launched that time, but the lag was there. I can take up to 10 seconds for AA to register a touch, and Maps freezes up constantly for 10 seconds or so before trying to catch up (it usually doesn't catch all the way up before it freezes again). This makes AA more or less unusable for me. I can't find anyone else out there that has had these issues with AA and this phone, so I'm unsure of what the issue actually is. The only difference between last night and today is that last night I was listening to podcasts through Pocket Casts, and today I used Audible. I'll do a bit more testing with/without Audible to see if that's the culprit; I know AA support is relatively new on Audible (though it was in the beta for a while). Again, I haven't seen anyone complain of poor AA performance while using Audible, so I don't know if that's the issue. I wish I had a Nexus to test this against to see if its the phone...
Having the same issue it does not connect all the time
I've just started using one of these a couple of days ago, and it's looking like it'll be the shortest lived of all my phones through the ages.
I've so far had to reboot my phone several times each day, to the point where it's also now rebooting itself occasionally, probably to try and fix itself before I notice. I'm constantly getting apps freeze on loading, which will only resolve by rebooting. This is an annoyance if it's a game (not graphically intensive), but it happens multiple times per day when loading Spotify, which I link to my car, so always needs to be openable when I'm driving.
It seems that nobody else here has experienced this, and everyone seems to love this phone - so did I just get a duff one?
Hi all,
I'm at the end of my tether as my P20 Pro has started glitching incessently.
It's vibrating randomly (and regularly) and any time I try and go into an app it kicks me out within a second or two. I've not dropped my phone, it's not been in water and it's really starting to p*ss me off as I literally can't even send a text/WhatsApp without being booted out.
I've had the phone around 20 months and the cynic in me thinks Huawei may have deliberately bugged it to force me into buying a new phone. I've tried deleting unused apps, clearing cache, deleting old gallery videos etc but it hasn't made a single bit of difference.
I know there are a lot of posts on here about notification issues and random vibrating but this is definintely nothing to do with notifications. I've loved this phone since I got it but the past week or two have seriously p*ssed me off and I just want to smash the phone!
If anyone could help I'd be forever in your debt!!!:fingers-crossed:
Cheers

When it's vibrating is anything happening in the notification bar?? Mine started doing that last week and it was a call app I had installed. It could be you have to go through the notification settings for each app. Is there any particular application that you are noticing it on? Sorry for the questions. I hope you are OK x

Hi mate,
No nothing shows in notifications when it vibrates. It's actually a different type of vibration than you would get for a normal notification as well. It's a very rapid vibration that comes and goes. Initially it started kicking me out of my camera gallery and then started happening on other apps as well (Google search, Golf Clash, Snapchat etc). It's settled down the last couple of hours but I know it'll flare up randomly again at some point!:crying:
I also have problems with people trying to hear me on phone calls as well but assume that's probably a completely separate issue!
Cheers

Instead of smashing the phone I would suggest factory restore.

Have you ran the support app see if it's a hardware issue? I'd try and do a factory reset if that does not work because its difficult to diagnose. I hope you are staying safe x
