If you do have a custom recovery, you can look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...om-flashable-stock-rom-moto-g-xt1063-t2896933
If you want to unroot your phone you just have to open superSU and use the "full unroot" function.
But I think you want to do more,maybe make your Moto fit for OTA-updates?
Then you have to revert all system changes like frozen/deleted systemapps,remove adaway,xposed etc.
The only thing you´ll have to download is the custom recovery of your firmware which could be found inside the proper firmware-zip for your device.If you´ve got problems to download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/rom-flashable-stock-rom-moto-g-xt1063-t2896933 let me know and I upload it for you.
Hey i downloaded the correct firmware, what do i do next?

So install stock recovery again, it will overwrite TWRP.
edit:
Sorry,you downloaded the correct firmware now? You want to get back to stock 4.4.4?
If yes take this;http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/windows-tool-moto-g-2014-xt1064-restore-t2957167 you can automate the process.
If you just want to restore your stock recovery unpack the firmware and you´ll find a file called recovery.img. Flash this and you are on stock recovery again.
All these infos you can find here:

Hi,
I, after the long wait, foolishly updated my Xperia T to Android 4.3 (build 9.2.A.0.295). Before doing so I made a nandroid backup of my 4.1.2 install (can't remember what build). Only now do I realize this mistake as the current method for rooting requires you to start from a rooted Android 4.1.2 base. So this leaves me in a situation with a lot of questions that need answers.
Firstly, is there a back up technique that I can use (instead of nandroid) that doesn't require a rooted 4.3 device? And if so to what level does it backup (i.e what will I lose)? Or can I create a nandroid without a root? I would like to be able to use it as a safety net so that I don't lose everything if I screw something up.
If there is such a method I would like to root my device but I have been unable to find any instructions rooting from 4.3 for newbies like me. The current post by DaRk-LOrD just says "Install 4.1.2". How do I do that? Is it possible I can just skip downgrading and somehow go straight to installing CWM on 4.3 (I might be talking garbage, I don't know...)?
Also if I am to root I would like a way to get as close as possible to my current installation of Android 4.3 as possible (apps, app data, settings, etc.). How would I go about doing this? Maybe I install Android 4.1.2 from my nandroid I made before updating?
Also, does anyone know if it is likely we will be seeing a tool such as this one for Xperia T 4.3? Maybe if such a tool is in the works I should hold off for a bit longer.
I know these are a lot of question but I have been unable to find this information which is either relevant or applicable to my situation or what I find is just too complicated (steps are too broad and assume too much prior knowledge). If I have left out any information you need please don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks,
JamesStewy

I have a short answer for you: 4.3 is not ready for prime time.
I recommend downgrading to 4.12, root it, install CWM, then flash another ROM of your choice. Look for downgrade to 4.12 threads, such as this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2655182
Is your bootloader locked, or unlocked? If it is unlocked simply flash a custom kernel. Then flash the supersu zip file you can find in this forum. Next step is to flash the kernel from the ftf file, make sure to exclude everything else.

I do have an unlocked bootloader.
Does the steps you have outlined above root 4.3 with out a downgrade? Will this process wipe my phone (if so how can I get it back afterwards)? Also, where can I find "a custom kernel" (which one?), "supersu zip" (like the one from Dark Lords post? What version of supersu?) and "the ftf file" (the Xperia T, Android 4.3, build 295 ftf file?) ??? Sorry but I am too new to this to understand exactly what you are saying from what you gave me but it does sound like what I want .
Thanks,

1. You will not have to downgrade
2. It will not wipe your phone
3. Download for example CM or Omni rom, extract the kernel and flash it via flashtool
4. http://download.chainfire.eu/382/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip
5. Yes, the Xperia T .295 ftf file, if you were using it before

Is there a way of doing this without CyanogenMod or OmniROM? I would really prefer to just stick with Sony's 4.3 just rooted.
You need a custom kernel with a recovery. If you already have a custom recovery installed you can skip this step

"custom recovery"??? Sorry....
Can this be achieved from a what is basically a stock install of 4.3 with a load of apps on it?
You said that you did a nandroid backup. I'm pretty sure you did this in a recovery. There has been a guide of how to root stock 4.3 with unlocked bootloader. Search for it here and you will find it. If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

It was a nandroid of 4.1.2 from an app. Can I make a nandroid of my 4.3 install without a root (that would be awesome)?
I will search for that post.
No you can't
This post is for TX (i would assume it is adaptable by downloading the T versions of the files) but it does say wipe personal data in the instructions which isn't really ideal.
There's Dark Lords post which I found originally which goes through the steps of having 4.1.2 installed and it it also says "do a factory reset" which isn't ideal either.
There is this post which looks quite promising but is about the Xperia V (could that be adapted?)
And that is the first three pages of searching "xperia t 4.3 root unlocked"

For reference I found this post in the tread quite useful. I following this tutorial to back up most of my things before proceeding.
If I am not the most ignorant XDAdevelopers member I am certainly in the top 10. That said here is my dilemma.
Equipment:
* Phone: Sony Xperia Z1
* Model: C6906
* Android Version: 4.3
* Build: 14.2.A.0.209
Goals:
* I would like root access (SuperSU).
* I don't want ClockWork Mod Manager (permanently, if I need to use it at some point).
* I DON'T want a custom ROM (I want to keep the stock firmware).
* Xposed Framework provide all the functionality I need.
* IF boot loader unlocking is necessary I would like to be able to relock the boot loader.
From my readings KINGO would appear to be amongst the simplest root tools, but from the KINGO site it does not appear to support the Z1. On the other hand, I have read posts where users say they have used KINGO on this phone.
Is a full nandroid backup possible/necessary given the above prior to making changes?
As I already feel like the South end of a horse facing North, please be gentle with any comments.
Thanks in advance.

You want a full nandroid backup but no recovery? I suggest you install a recovery and leave it there. It wont make any difference to you
First, if all you want is root them do this
1) Downgrade to 4.2 FW ending in .534
2) Install dual recovery from the cross development thread
3) Flash SuperSU.zip from chainfire
4) Upgrade to your chosen ROM, there are several stock based ones in the development section.
No need to unlock your bootloader, you will be rooted and your choice of ROM with the ability to use xposed

Look carefully my friend and the truth will appear to you clearly... It is supported as you seed at this line :
How to update to 14.3.A.0.681:
Files:
For C6906: Download C6906_14.3.A.0.681.flashable.zip (Bittorrent: 956MB) and C6906_14.3.A.0.681_Stripped.ftf (21MB)
You don't heave to Unlock Bootloader to get Root. I don't know what is ClockWork Mod Manager? For sure you will need a recovery, permanently like TWRP or Philz to make Update with Pre-Rooted Androids.
Download the FTF .534 Rogers for your model form FTF Collection in general Section, flash it with Flashtool v0.9.15, when you are on 4.2.2 FW .534 Root it with Bin4ry Method (from PC, there is not simplest way), Install SuperSU from Play Store or Flash the .zip file (you will find the link on How Root 4.3 or 4.4), then Instal XZDualRecovery (from PC, there is not simplest way), now you are ready to update to your favorite Android 4.3 or 4.4 and follow the instructions of "Hot to" in the specific thread.

Its the one Philz is based on...
You do not need it permanently, you can delete it and reinstall it when you want it, but I don't see the point in that, just leave it there to be used as when is needed.
BTW, I am not soo fast in typing so I am the last one!!

I was hoping to avoid what appears to me major modifications like flashing firmware (next phone is a nexus).
Another question, if I root only will a factory restore remove root?
Thanks to all the help. Off to work now, looking forward to reading more comments if any more are offered.

yes, flashing stock FTF will revert your phone back to a factory state
This process of rooting will take about 10 minutes once you have everything downloaded, its not difficult.

Put 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.681_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
Start your phone in recovery mode (boot the phone and after the 2 vibrations push vol down)
Create a backup of your phone in TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard' (the internal storage!);
Flash 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.681.flashable.zip' in TWRP (select install and select your file)
NOTE: do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
Flash everything in 'C69XX_14.3.A.0.681_Stripped.ftf' using flashtool;

To return to fully stock , locked boot loader, stock system, recovery, out of box condition (V6.1)
You must be on old preloader so you can use sp flash tool to flash these partitons. You probably could put the images into a recovery zip also,
But that is not the way I did it so I dont have the info on it.
1. Verify you have access to flash tool.
if you do not have access will need to roll back with these instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/how-to/r1hd-update-6-6-bootloader-roll-t3491096
2. once you have spft access, download my o.o.b. package. from same link as above, click on the "click to show content" button.
3. unpack into one folder. Load scatter file into flsh tool. (DO NOT USE FORMAT DOWNLOAD ONLY)
I dont know of any reason to go this drastic of a restore but here you go.
I read here, somewhere, that you need stock recovery to do the update. Since I have flashed another recovery (and rooted and installed Xposed), I'm not sure if I can update to EMUI5.
Furthermore, I'm not even sure how to do the update. The update (b351) is available in FF and checks out as "compatible", but I don't know what the install procedure is. Especially without stock recovery.
Any help or info is much appreciated

That you may need to find your own. Well in custom ROMs, they are designed to work with custom recoveries like TWRP. While in stock, the whole system is inside update.app, which can't be read by a custom recovery.

You can try to update your phone with my guide.
This will reformat the system and your phone is on stock after a factory reset (reset is important when you come from another rom).
After factory reset you should be able to lock the bootloader.
Important is that you have in mind which Android version is installed and which phone model you have.
No warranty for this, I didn't try it or know someone with the same situation. But after learning something about how emui works it shouldn't be a problem.
did anyone tried this? I'm using custom rom from openkirin project and I would like to get back to stock. I have the stock recovery
On openkirin's website is a tutorial.
You need to extract system.img, ramdisk.img and kernel.img from update.app and flash them with Fastboot. After this boot into eRecovery and make a factory reset.

Jannomag here, it's possible to "update" to the same version. My script just tells the recovery to install the given update files. The recovery will overwrite the system without removing user data.
This should work without any issues but it can happen, that bugs are still present after this. If you want to fix firmware issues a complete factory reset is much more effective.
