[CM12/CM12S][Wi-Fi] Enable 5GHz DFS Wi-Fi Channels - ONE Themes and Apps

Enable High 5GHz Wi-Fi Channels on CyanogenMod 12 & Cyanogen OS 12 (CM12S)
(and potentially other OnePlus One ROMs too, subject to testing)
Here in the UK I have a Wi-Fi router running on channels 136+132. This worked fine on CM11S when the phone was new out the box, but with CM12 I was unable to see (or connect to) the 5GHz network. It would only show the 2.4GHz network, as my router separately broadcasts 2.4 and 5GHz networks.
After messing with various modems and Wi-Fi drivers, I found that extracting the CM11S Wi-Fi drivers and Qualcomm configuration files and placing them on CM12 worked perfectly fine, and my phone can see my 5GHz Wi-Fi now.
I have no idea which channels are now enabled, or whether this will work for you, but do give it a try. If anything messes up just dirty flash a CM12 nightly or CM12S stock zip over the top to restore.
Download and flash the zip attached in recovery.
Thanks go to the CyanogenMod / OnePlus Teams. I didn't create these drivers or configuration files - I just extracted and tested them, and made the flashable zip.
Tested on CM12 nightly from 4th April, and CM12S released on 14th April build 12.0-YNG1TAS0YL.
Please post your results on this thread, ensuring your state which channels your Wi-Fi router broadcasts on. This way I can track which channels the phone has enabled under which circumstances.
Good luck!
-Chris

Oh fantastic! They have AeroHives at my school so I guess I'll get 5GHz there now too.
Glad it helped

Not Working
Its not working on Euphoria with Ak kernel. Cant see any 5 ghz wifi networks.

Different kernels and ROMs often have their own "optimised" Wi-Fi driver bundled in. First check the AK thread to see if the Wi-Fi driver is altered, then check with Euphoria.

I flashed it on CM 12.0-YNG1TAS0YL and it did not fix the issue. Now the phone cannot even see the 5GHz network

Very interesting. I flashed on the same build today and it's working as expected. What WiFi channels are your router running on?

I tried various channels and channels lengths, the result was the same. I have the feeling that I flashed a broken zip file (using TWRP), so I am trying again with the cyanogen recovery and the zip from this thread - androidpolice.com/2015/04/13/cyanogen-os-12-is-rolling-out-to-the-oneplus-one-download-the-zip-file-right-here (I still cannot post an external link )

Hi,
Since I'm on CM12S I can't connect to my home WIFI... I'll see if your zip fix it.
Thank you

I tried flashing the wifi-fix zip in Cyanogen Recovery mode, (I am on OPO CM12, YNG1TAS0YL) - but got this error message:
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
What am I missing?

Same problem here.
OPO with CM 12S.
Impossible to connect to any 5ghz network and impossible to flash the fix.
Not a good first impression.

Flash using a recovery like TWRP. This probably will not work on the stock CM recovery as it is not signed.

Use TWRP, not the stock Cyanogen Recovery.

Wifi 5Ghz
I cannot connect 5Ghz with cm12.
The same problem with S4 under CM12...
Perfect with patch on oneplus... Thank you

What channels are being used by your router? Have you flashed this patch? It's for the OPO only.

Tnx blackthund3r, unfortunately I'd really prefer not to root or wipe the phone, so no TWRP for me it seems.
It's really sad there's no fix for this (or for the various problems plaguing the user profiles and cell data usage).

Hey! I tried changing channel from "Auto" to "48" and now it seems to connect.
Weird...

I confirm - I did static channel 44 ( UK ) and it works; when Auto fails

Lower channels may work because most phones supporting 5Ghz will do channels up to 64. Anything beyond 64 varies in legality between regions. I have to use high channels as I have 5GHz Desktops upstairs, but if you do not have a large property or all your 5GHz devices are downstairs you can use a low channel and the OnePlus should detect it.

Thanks for answer. Wired thing is that 'Auto' was working fine with ColorOS 2.0.0i ( find7 ) but does not work with CM12.

Auto may have chosen higher channels that the stock find 7 ROM has enabled (like CM11S) but are not enabled in the CM12S ROM. This is why I'm using the patch on CM12S.

The ROM is being updated to kernel version 3.4, that was already released to RazrM and for XT926. The kernel 3.4 depends on new bootloader version and XT925 doesn't have it yet (a leak exists, you can search xda).
As Nadlabak and dhacker29 already informed, the M8 will be the last release supporting devices with JB bootloader. All nightly builds will support only new bootloader.

OK. So far so good. Flashed with no issue, neither the rom nor the gapps.
Very smooth. WIFI and radio signals look OK. Downloading all my apps...
After 5mn of testing (!):
- My external SD isn't detected.
- Same transition bug as in a few builds earlier on cm10.2
EDIT:
- All Interface/Menus/Status bar settings are missing
- Some settings are missing from the Camera app (jpeg quality and others)
EDIT2: 20 minutes
No other bug so far. Tested a few apps, are working as expected.
root is OK.
And s**t, that thing is REALLY snappy!.
Hi,
I made a dirty flash.
XT925 (Telcel Mexico)
I was in Carbon nightlies (7.11.13)
Flash ROM over Carbon (CWM 6.0.4.4)
Flash GAPP 4.4
Erase Cache, Erase Dalvik
Boot
Boot without Problems alle Apps working
(Around 70 apps, from whatsapp bbm, rootexplorer, udn lite, asphalt 8,etc)
SD Card not mounted/working
Radio signal works ,WiFi, battery is ok )
GPS locks quickly.
From Carbon have the unlock function with volume keys, that works too. I did not find it in CM, but works.
I flashed superuser.
Till now all is working great. No FC.
Sent from my XT925 using xda app-developers app
Hi guys,
Just flashed here and I´m still testing... Used CWM 6.0.4.4 without any glitches. Flashed Core GAPPS , the minimal one (17mb) with only core code. I also flashed SuperSU 1.6.5 as I don´t like Superuser.
It´s working like a charm!
I didn´t like the launcher, so I exchanged to Nova Laucher as I always used it.
Anomalies found:
- External SDCard doesn´t work.
- Tiles for Radios/GPS/Bluetooth on notification screen doesn´t work to switch the function on-off. It just leads to config screen.
- Sound poping/cracking playing FLAC files. Tried Apollo and PlayerPro. I don´t have any MP3 local to test, will try later. But working flawless with streaming sound. I used 8Track and Cloudaround and the sound is perfect.
Oh, just FYI Viper4Android is working flawlessly without any issue!
For a "first build", it´s almost perfect, just few bugs. Epinter, congratulations!
I´ll test GPS and Bluetooth Audio on car as soon as I´m out for lunch.
Tested this. Works great on my Atrix HD. Video playback and external SD seem to be the only bugs for me. Found myself a new daily driver for now.

Now GPS is normal? If not, try restore a backup where it locks, reboot with it locked then clean flash KK, might work.
I think white status bar icons are a feature of KK, not a bug. It won't go blue as previous versions. Check if your playstore is connecting and your Google account is syncing normal, it's all set.
Tethering is down. Might not been implemented yet.
I checked video recording is working fine so local video playback, using mx player. But streaming video from YouTube app or any other site from web is not working.
And lock screen rotation too, may not be present yet.
Any other feature is awesome.

Tks.
I know there is some bugs, and CM 11 almost is ok.
But something very wrong happened. I lost wifi. Not turn on. No connection anymore. I put sotck system by rsdlite, but even that, wifi not turn back. WIFI-AP not turn on too. I think it burned. Is there some way to test if really burned?
Tks again.

Canadian Wireless Providers?
I've noticed that with any of the CM versions (that are over the standard 4.1.2 that Droid 4 officialy supports) my Canadian wireless provider (Fido) doesn't get detected properly and shows up either as an "Unknown Provider" or lists it as Verizon or says no signal when there's 4 bars on it. Any way to fix it so that it says Fido and have me have 3G or data of some kind? I've tried the GSM patch, but that doesn't seem to fix it. Also if I go to scan for wireless signals Fido does not end up getting listed.

Droid 4 [PATCH][GUIDE]Patch to fully enable GSM on every Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368572
If so may need to add the APN
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA Free mobile app
I've tried the patch and made sure the APNs were in correctly but still my carrier seems to be locked to only Edge when I know for a fact that they support 3G on the standard connections for GSM. In fact, none of the firmwares seem to pickup 3G on the Droid 4 for me for some reason, but atleast with 4.1.2 it will read edge properly and show the correct Fido listed as the network provider. It will find Bell and Telus but not Fido for some reason... Idk, it's been really puzzling because it seems like the phone should inherently support it all because it uses the standard 850MHz and 1900MHz that everything else supports but I'm not getting 3G. So I guess there's two questions I really have answers for.
1. Why does any firmware above 4.1.2 (CM10 & 11 being an example) not read as Fido?
2. Why is the Droid 4 not working on Fido 3G?
Edit: don't know
Fido is a Canadian GSM network, so changing to CDMA will just disable the network. What I need is HSPA(+) & GSM support. Fido supports GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz. But for some reason I keep getting locked to EDGE rather than it allowing me to do 3G.

I'mma see if a different SIM will help. But I'm curious if there are any other Fido customers in the Droid 4 section with the same issue or if they got 3G to work correctly, but I have to sift through millions of pages referencing "Fido" if I search for it so it's a bit of a headache.

- Jul 5: loads of kernel changes, audio hal, and probably plenty of stuff i forgot

For the brave CM13 DEVELOPMENT BUILD:
cm-13.0-20160801-UNOFFICIAL-dogo.zip
Dirty-flashing on existing 12.1 upgrades normally to CM 13. Beware you will need compatible GApps though!
Nightlies are now available:
Official download site
This thread will however remain the prime location for testing new stuff and support on yuga.
Installation:
If you have anything other than CyanogenMod 12.1 on your device, do a full wipe, and get Android 5.1 compatible gapps!
F2FS support: take a look here
Testing:
Some very important "rules" for this:
- Run unmodified versions (no FOTA recovery, no modified kernel, no Xposed framework, etc.)
- Please dont post "X isnt working" or "random reboots" - provide LOGS for each report you post here. This thread is actually meant for users who are capable of gathering and providing logs, so after a reboot, provide last_kmsg, and for all other problems, dmesg and logcat at the very least.
- If you can reproduce your problem, you might want to increase the logging level before posting it here, which will increase chances of me finding the problem.
I will have to ignore all other "problem reports" as they are essentially useless.
Thanks:
@sigprof - award for best tester feedback

If you are willing (and able) to help, check out the patch sets, test them for the respective projects (fusion3 is also pollux, odin, and so on).

FINALLY! @qsnc thank you very much!
what's the difference between this and fxpblog.co builds?
can you enable nightie for cm's buildbots?
any way to convert to f2fs in place instead of wiping? or can I twrp backup, change data to f2fs, then restore /data?
and can you fix 2nd mic on dogo?
thx!!!!!!!!!!
btw, dogo's wifi is half broken, please if you can update the prima drivers, please do it. : )
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/97588/
without proper testing, i will NOT greenlight nightlies - thats why this thread exists.
f2fs is not a requirement, it'll just give you a performance boost. and no, there is no way without wiping.
i need you guys to give this a proper test, and report back with things that are not working, so i know where we are standing.
it looks like:
- 2nd mic not working
- wifi problems ("half broken" doesnt tell me anything. describe the problem(s) precisely and provide logs)
anything else?
for wifi, i had problems connecting to the hotel ap, but i'm not there anymore so cannot get some logs.
but at home, i also have problems connecting to the 5ghz channel, basically the phone just cannot find the ap, per suggestion by another forum member, disabling location/gps thing sometimes fix it. i'll trt to get some logs for you.
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOTE:
THIS IS A DEVELOPMENT THREAD.
BUILDS ARE INTENDED FOR ADVANCED USERS, SO THEY CAN TEST AND GIVE FEEDBACK.
FEATURE REQUESTS WILL BE IGNORED, THIS IS PLAIN CYANOGENMOD.
Why another thread? Because fuison3 is in a complete rework process, and I am the actual device maintainer, so I need your feedback to verify everything is working, before the new stuff will be added to the official CM12.1 repositories. So, by testing this, you help CM development for odin. I have no interest in providing daily builds or anything of the sort.

Should have been dogo
I can't download this build from my office, but I will give it a try later.
Anyway, I am currently using FXP 0517 and System Profiles are not turning on/off Wifi/Data as it supposed to (having this problem with other AOSP 5.1 too).
logcat and dmesg.log attached.
Not sure whether your build is sharing the same source (hence same problem), but hope it helps.

CM11 had 3g data handoff issue for c5503. I.e. When switching from 4g signal to 3g signal, mobile data just got disconnected.
The solution for me was I had to force 3g network, which is a bit annoying...
I m not sure if this is still the case.

what handoff issue are you talking about? mobile data disconnect when switching from 4g to 3g sounds perfectly normal to me, but if once on 3g, data NEVER comes back on, then it's a problem, which i don't have, my phone switches from 4g to 3g and back and forth just fine.

why don't you just grab a ftf yourself and flash it with flashtool? cm never comes include baseband firmware afaik.

When I was on cm11, after my phone goes from 4g to 3g the mobile data just wont work. Although it appears to be connected to 3g it just wont get any down stream data, and it won't go back to 4g again.
Maybe somehow in cm 12 it's sorted. I will try cm12 next week.

any ide why fxpblog.co build doesn't have f2fs?
edit: correction, it has!!!
To anyone who face my problem (my voice is not hearable in outgoing calls, but all is okay in incoming calls) in cm12.1
You can try the workaround by turning in-call loudspeaker on and then off.
Then your friend can hear your voice perfectly.
It works for me and I hope it works for you too.
with f2fs twrp installed, i've changed /cache and /data into f2fs without wiping. you just have to backup /data, then format it as f2fs, click "use rm-rf instead for format" in twrp settings, then restore /data.
now changing the microsd to f2fs.

Android P 9.0 for s6e+ BETA

To go into deeper detail on the ROM, I used Lineage 16.0 20180901 s6 build modified for the s6 found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...20x-5x-nexusos-9-0-samsung-galaxy-s6-t3843199
It was also based on NexusOS kernel that has been modified, so a big shout out to Team Nexus for the kernel and rom, and to @lukasb06 for porting it to s6.
The original kernel was by Team Nexus for s6 and s6e
Kernel Features;
v2.0: first support Pie on s6e+ and n5
change log:
support N5-s6e+ (ready for daily usage)
bug: BT, GPS, NFC
deep sleep fixed, init.d support, dyninteractive and a lot of kernel code changed.
the kernel can be found at :
https://github.com/slaminger/android_kernel_samsung_exynos7420
**I have made some modifications, added a shim, added code to the init.rc to disable p2p wifi. Moving forward the modifications to the kernel will be done by myself.
Please read and follow the instructions :
New zip uploaded for November. Each month has its own folder
This is not fully functional yet but it is close, no Bluetooth, no NFC. the two buttons next to home don't work yet(a couple of temporary solutions below)
BACK UP YOUR CURRENT ROM! especially efs. Some people have ril issues, I noticed my imei changed. A quick efs restore fixed it and my sim worked again.
The home button can be set to double tap for recent apps and use opera browser for compensation of no back button as they have their own, or download back button from play store to add floating buttons to screen. Some versions have buttons pre installed.
I can get bluetooth not to crash, but it doesn't connect.
Wifi Hotspot not working.
Now that the bad is out of the way.
Install Instructions Below:
The call audio and WiFi works, camera works(lower res for video to 1080), magisk is working but apk requires manual apk install, audio works, headphones, video, gapps, everything I have tried besides the above is OK.
The install is a process, first flash the ROM, then the pie fix, then no NFC, and then flash the boot.
Img and start the ROM. set your WiFi and take a look around, give it a moment to run). After first boot, reboot to twrp and flash gapps. If you do it all at once gapps crash sometimes. Once you have this all set up and good to go then add magisk.
9.0SeptSecurity is a different version from the august security not just in the sense that the security patch is different, but also the august build is N920 where the September build is G920F. One is from a note one from s6. It is possible one might resolve a bug that is in the other for your device, i am honestly not sure. different people report different bugs on the same device. If bluetooth does happen to be in one of the zips it will likely crash a lot. remove it via twrp by mounting system and then going to system/app and delete the bluetooth and bluetoothmidi folders.
The reason for lowering rear camera to 1080p for video is that it gets buggy at the 4k default.
A big thank you to NexusOS and LineageOS for their 9.0 lineage 16.0 s6 ROM which I used as a base to port this to our device!
i would also like to thank @topjohnwu for Magisk.
And @MirzaAwais for the Pie fix zip

It's a bit slow for the first little bit while setting up and whatnot, but once you get everything running it works fine. You can use kernel auditor if you find your battery is dying a little too fast.
I am VERY open to suggestions and or help with this, as it is my goal to fix the bugs and have a fully working 9.0 for our device. The buttons are a priority for me.
To briefly summarize: you sacrifice the back button, pages button, and Bluetooth and get 9.0. Everything else works. I've got viper4android going via magisk, the audio fx work. The ROM has a LOUD volume. So if you like music, enjoy. The back button/page has a work around(most apps have a back button), and you can get an app from play store called back button which gives you the home, back and recent button as tiny floating screen icons also, in the meantime. so just bluetooth really. Use modified cam perm boot shim.img
Enjoy
I removed Bluetooth from the ROM intentionally because it crashed constantly and was hard to disable for people unfamiliar with twrp. No NFC.
The camera has been modified to address pipeline errors that caused it to not work in other builds, it is now fully functional up to 1080p video.
The advanced menu seems to be working fine.
Magisk successfully installed with the following modules tested: Viper4Android, Sony Framework, Sony Music, Audio Modification Library, Sys Config Patcher.
SUBSTRATUM DOES NOT WORK ON ANDROID PIE. This is because google does not want us using OMS for custom themes. they disabled it on purpose. i do not believe systemless substratum will be possible moving forward on any device running pie. atleast not at the time being.
**** Solved** see next post** Netflix not currently working, I googled and found many users on pie are having issues.
Superuser works also, but magisk has modules.
More details will be coming.
All gapps 9.0 working on sm-g928
W8, I used the full aroma package and installed everything. However pixel launcher with assistant in the search bar will not work if you install the new Google webview. The built in Google now launcher will work, and I have tried Nova launcher prime. Keep in mind the more gapps you install the slower your device can get. it is best to only install what you need. i installed everything just to see what worked. but i noticed my phone was slower after a while.
The camera is only confirmed working on g928w8 Canadian, g928g, g928f international/american, note 5 N 920variants. Others have reported bugs.
Netflix Netflix-6.13.0_build_29940.apk confirmed working, both cast and watching videos.

Suggestion: if you un-compress the rom(s) and do a search for *camera or camera* does it return any results. I suggest you compare it to a working version and determine what is missing in the system/ system/app and system/priv-app folder(s) once you determine what is missing then just bring those changes over to your folders

@godkingofcanada Hi, I've got same problem with this rom as I had with Oreo rom before. My WiFi MAC Address is 02:00:00:00:00:00 and it doesn't turn on. Have I to do something more than installing rom and all fixes with it ? I can provide logcat if it would do. Also after clean installation there was no bootanimation and no wallpaper. Just black screen and that's all. Hope to see quick reply. Cheers
