Auto trigger screen cast? - Google Chromecast

Is there a way to trigger a screen cast from my PC to TV upon certain actions? For example, I can mirror my iPhone to my PC using software called AirServer, and then I can cast my PC screen to my TV. This effectively allows me to mirror my iPhone to my TV. But I would like to automatically trigger screen casting on my PC whenever I mirror my iPhone to my PC.

Remote control Bravia

Hi guys....I have a Bravia without the wireless adapter. Can I view my phone screen on the tv through the internet. I can connect the TV through the ethernet port (wired) so can I use the internet to view whatever I am seeing on the phone on my big screen? Also can I use my phone as a bluetooth keyboard/mouse to input characters on my TV. I have a bluetooth adapter. Are there any apps that can do this. I searched all over but couldn't find anything. Some came close but not that close like the Sony media app for the phone. Any suggestions would be appreciated. TX

you can stream media. i dont think there is a way to mirror the image. do you want it kinda like airplay mirroring for the ipad and apple tv?
If I understand correctly, you want to view your HTC phone on your Bravia TV screen, right?
I assume your TV's browser is Android based, then you can run a VNC server on your phone, and use your browser on TV to view the phone.
Our app, VMLite VNC Server, can do that:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver&hl=en
If you want to control the TV, I don't know if you can install app to your tv, if so, you can install the vnc server on your TV, and then run browser on phone to view and control the TV. This way, the phone looks like a keyboard.

Having problem switching back to regular tv

I received my chrome cast from Google. After watching You Tube via my Note 2 on my HD tv, I try to switch to regular TV on HDMI 4. It would not switch to regular tv. So I had to reset the FIOS receiver which brought the tv back. This happened again today. I have a Sony HD tv.
Also, how do i turn off chrome cast.
Have you tried turning off CEC? This is what allows HDMI devices to tell your TV to turn to the right input (if you on standard TV on HDMI 1 and chromecast is HDMI 3 it'll automatically change input when you cast content)

Chromecast turning OFF TV

How do you turn off your TV when you turn it on using your Chromecast ?
Here in France & Europe, many of us are using 3play boxes (Internet/TV/phone) to watch TV, these are connected to TVs using (another) HDMI port
Many (if not all) of those boxes are able to turn on/off TVs using their remotes, OR THEIR IOS/ANDROID EMULATED TV REMOTES
So now, when I want to turn off my TV turned on using my Chromecast, I use an android emulated TV remote to do that...
A Chromecast developer told me he saw nothing (documented) inside the Chromecast SDK code to send the appropriate HDMI CEC signal to the HDMI TV port in order to shutdown ; OK,but who will develop a widget button to do this using orders sent by boxes ?
Google will not like...
PS : other possibility ? Please, Mr Google, give us the proper SDK code to do it, we ensure you we will continue to watch the nice pics / even ads if any... sometimes
Thats cause there is no CEC support to turn off the TV!
Is there any command to shutdown Chromecast?
I'm thinking that the TV maybe shutdown when it looses its HDMI signal?

Do you mean that chromecast hardware/software can not do it? Because as far as CEC commands, I believe there is such support.
In fact, my xbmc media player shuts down my TV (and also my AVR) when I shut it down (these are xbmc’s configuration options for libcec: http://imgur.com/Yrss7lw,nVrqyny ).

Most devices do not support turning off a TV via CEC with the exception of AVRs.
And many AVRs choose not to do it using the TV as a Menu and info display instead.
Only powering off the AVR will trigger a TV off in those cases.
The CEC commands on the CCast are minimal at best....
Change the input and turn on the TV if it is off.
CCast would not turn off a TV cause it can not assume you are done streaming to it from the CCast. If that were the case every time the default screen loaded up the TV would go off. So it needs to be done via the CCast receiver/player and if you switch to another source the other source should determine if the monitor is needed or not so no need for the CCast to make that decision.
What really needs to be added to the CEC commands is the ability to use the TV or AVR remote to control playback.
But again thats something the Developer Receiver/Player on the CCast has to do the device itself can't really do that for them.
In regards to your XBMC, XBMC assumes it is the only device connected to the TV, It even expects you will watch your live TV through that and that no other device is connected to the TV but XBMC.

OR Hope Google creates some functionality on the Default screen to control the device, change inputs and turn off a TV if needed. But it would require leaving whatever app you were using and loading another app designed to access the default screen control layer.
Basically the device is capable of doing a lot of things it's just that the way it would have to happen is not all that much different than looking for the TV remote and doing it that way!
CCast is considered a "Source" device...Most Source devices are not meant to control power it is assumes the Source Selector device (or Router, in this case an AVR) will handle and determine if and when the TV is needed and shut it down appropriately.
This is why if you have an AVR you should be plugging the CCast into the AVR not the TV.
Only if the TV is acting as the router for sources should the CCast be plugged into it directly. If you have an AVR all your sources should go through that!
In fact it's already started as many AVRs already have the ability to network and play networked sourced content like Pandora and Sirius.
I suspect it won't be long before some type of CCast like capability is built into them that you can control from a mobile OR via the AVR Remote.
Of not AndroidTV then perhaps Amazon Fire or Roku support.

Casting Netflix without using hotspot data

I seem to be at an impasse. I currently use a cellphone from metropcs as my home internet connection. It has unlimited data usage on the phone and 8gb of hot spot data a month. In order to utilize the unlimited data on the phone I watch things like netflix and hbogo on the phone so I would love to be able to mirror my phone to my tv. I was able to set up a chrome cast to connect to the phone directly by connecting the it to the phones hot spot. The only problem is that the chrome cast uses hot spot data instead of the mobile data when I launch netflix on my phone and cast it to the chromcast. It's as if when I cast netflix, instead of the phone running it and mirroring it on the chromecast, the phone hands it off to the chromecast completely and it runs everything there. Is this the case? Is there anyway I can mirror netflix from my phone to my tv while using mobile data?
Thanks in advance.
I would like to do this too. Can you cast to CC using guest mode and still use your unlimited data?
Not possible with netflix cause it won't allow you to screencast which is the only way to send content to CCast without internet.
When you cast netflix to the CCast all it does is load up the Netflix app built into the CCast which needs internet to work.
Connect to the chromecast with your phones hotspot. Go to google home app, options, cast screen/audio. That will mirror your screen to the tv. Go to netflix app and play the video on your phone (without selecting the cast option). Since it's actually playing on your phone it will use regular mobile data. The hotspot is just used to connect to the cc since it's broken without it. Just gotta leave your screen on the whole time so lay it flat and plug it into a charger. Cool thing is that the netflix app stretches the screen automatically so don't worry about it flipping. Hope that helps.
Mirroring works... but... choppy
The mirroring method does work, but it is very choppy on with my phone (Note 8) and TV (LG circa 2015 model). Any suggestions?

Need App To Truly Mirror Screen

The tablet is not rooted. There are apps that will display pictures, videos and the like to the tv. I want to to simply mirror the screen. With my OnePlus 3 phone I simply hit cast in settings and everything works flawlessly casting to my Sony TV with built in Chromecast. I have tried every app that claims to mirror the screen and they fail to work with this tablet Same problems trying to mirror the screen to Amazon Firestick and Roku. Is this a Samsung thing? Any help is appreciated. For now, the phone is casting fine.
