The tablet is not rooted. There are apps that will display pictures, videos and the like to the tv. I want to to simply mirror the screen. With my OnePlus 3 phone I simply hit cast in settings and everything works flawlessly casting to my Sony TV with built in Chromecast. I have tried every app that claims to mirror the screen and they fail to work with this tablet Same problems trying to mirror the screen to Amazon Firestick and Roku. Is this a Samsung thing? Any help is appreciated. For now, the phone is casting fine.

Has anyone tried to connect and cast multiple chormecast to one device? if u have 2 tvs with 2 chromecast hook up to them, can u use a tablet or a phone and cast a video to 2 tvs at a same time ? Or u need to have a second tablet to cast to the second tv?

wont work or at least wont be synced. I own 3 (will be 4 soon) total. 2 in a single house on the same connection so I know.

It looks like the app will "search for chromecast" on the network and it looks like it has room for more than one on the list, and im assuming (since I dont have mine yet) that you can send it to each one individually but not at the same time.
Let's say with YouTube - when you are casting from the app, if you back out and open a new video by default it does not push that straight to the TV. Instead you can either add it to TV Queue, or cast it instantly to Chromecast, or switch it back to the phone/tablet and play locally without affecting the Chromecast. So I would presume you could open a second video, switch to the second Chromecast, and cast a second video there. The only issue is you may no longer be able to pause the first Chromcast with the same device.

That's a bummer, I was hoping to do multi room audio with this. So, if i had 2 cast devices, one upstairs and one downstairs, you are saying I would be able to see both cast devices on my phone/tablet when I click on the cast button, but would only be able to select one of the 2 devices to play to?
So, in other words, I can only play to 1 cast device at a time and not simultaneously play to both?
Yes

So far, anyway. There could be future innovations. Perhaps the SDK would allow an enterprising dev to create group Chromecasts.
Ok, I've done what the user want's but totally by accident. Here's how it transpired.
- I cast a Netflix video to the TV in the family room.
- Right after that I rebooted my phone. Netflix still running on my Chromecast. Doesn't need the phone to keep streaming Netflix.
- I then went into YouTube and cast a video onto the bedroom Chromecast.
So, it can be done. I don't recommend rebooting the phone every time but force closing appropriate apps should do the trick.

1) You don't even need to do that. You can cast a Netflix video, then go into Youtube and press the cast button to send a video to a different Chromecast.
2) The OP was looking to simultaneously push the same content, synchronized, to two Chromecast units at once. Not possible so far.
So on MM and trying to cast my screen to my LG TV I see the TV and the TV acknowledged my N6 but it fails with an incompatible device error.
Is the only way to screen cast by using a Chromecast?

I believe some people have gotten Miracast to work with an edit to the build.prop. Unsure if it still works on Marshmallow though.
I seem to be at an impasse. I currently use a cellphone from metropcs as my home internet connection. It has unlimited data usage on the phone and 8gb of hot spot data a month. In order to utilize the unlimited data on the phone I watch things like netflix and hbogo on the phone so I would love to be able to mirror my phone to my tv. I was able to set up a chrome cast to connect to the phone directly by connecting the it to the phones hot spot. The only problem is that the chrome cast uses hot spot data instead of the mobile data when I launch netflix on my phone and cast it to the chromcast. It's as if when I cast netflix, instead of the phone running it and mirroring it on the chromecast, the phone hands it off to the chromecast completely and it runs everything there. Is this the case? Is there anyway I can mirror netflix from my phone to my tv while using mobile data?
Thanks in advance.
I would like to do this too. Can you cast to CC using guest mode and still use your unlimited data?
Not possible with netflix cause it won't allow you to screencast which is the only way to send content to CCast without internet.
When you cast netflix to the CCast all it does is load up the Netflix app built into the CCast which needs internet to work.
Connect to the chromecast with your phones hotspot. Go to google home app, options, cast screen/audio. That will mirror your screen to the tv. Go to netflix app and play the video on your phone (without selecting the cast option). Since it's actually playing on your phone it will use regular mobile data. The hotspot is just used to connect to the cc since it's broken without it. Just gotta leave your screen on the whole time so lay it flat and plug it into a charger. Cool thing is that the netflix app stretches the screen automatically so don't worry about it flipping. Hope that helps.
Mirroring works... but... choppy
The mirroring method does work, but it is very choppy on with my phone (Note 8) and TV (LG circa 2015 model). Any suggestions?
Hey Guys,
I've been using a 256GB Exynos Note 8 as my first ever Samsung Smartphone for almost a year now, and I've been really loving the extremely versatile featureset it packs. It has hands down been the most useful Smartphone I've ever had after over half a decade of jailbroken iPhones and just switching to Android on a OnePlus One back in 2014. So much so, I've literally been using it as a Pocket PC for most of my computing needs, relying less and less on my Surface Pro 2.
However, there has been one pet peve that just keeps getting in the way of me enjoying my Note 8 to the fullest; whenever I try to miracast Netflix running on my Note 8 to my Microsoft Wireless Display Adaptor connected to a big screen (be it in my living room, bed room, or a hotel room), I only get audio and subtitles, no video Everything else -- including presentations, games and YouTube -- stream smoothly and very reliably from my Note 8 to whatever big screen I want, way better than even my Surface Pro 2 (1st party hardware). However, I just can't get Netflix to stream over miracast from my Note 8. Oddly enough, it works from my Surface Pro 2 with the latest Netflix app from the Microsoft Store.
Any genius out there have some suggestions on how to get Netflix working over miracast? I don't want them chromecast as they require their own internet connection instead of simply functioning via WiFi direct. Thanks in advance.
Try loading Netflix, then only starting the miracast?
Are you plugging this adapter into a TV at a hotel etc? Or is it your home TV?
The casting is something Samsung needs to fix its quite fiddly. If I'm casting to a TV I use Smart Things.
I think you should be running the app you're trying to cast from first. Then when you click the option it should recognise your MWDA.
I used to use my Surface Tablet to cast Netflix and it was a nuisance, so I gave up and plugged it directly into the TV and used a Bluetooth mouse.

Sorry for the very late feedback, for some reason never saw a notification in the XDA Labs app despite responses to my thread.
I just attempted this but all it does is still show a black screen with audio over Miracast, while the video appears on my Note 8's screen.

I tried it both at a camp/hotel and at home. Doesn't matter which TV I'm plugging it into, it's still the same end result; my Note 8 reliably connects over Miracast to it, but Netflix refuses to display.

Hmm, isn't that using Chromecast though? My Wireless Display Adapter doesn't show up when I attempt to add a device in SmartThings.

I attempted that, and as stated above, still the same end result.
Any other suggestions on getting Netflix to work over Miracast? Thanks in advance.
BUMP
The problem might be the MWDA. I never used one, I used a 3rd party display port to HDMI cable when connecting my Surface to a TV.
I cast apps from my Note 8 to my TV using Smartthings app. Or if you click the button which says 'button order' for your notification shade, there should be one that says 'smart view' I have successfully cast Netflix on my phone to my TV this way.

The MWDA works perfect and reliably for ANYTHING else, besides Netflix. SmartThings is casting via Chromecast in your Smart TV, that's why it works with Netflix.

That's exactly how I cast from my Note 8's screen to the MWDA, again, it works reliably with everything else but Netflix. The difference is it's using the Miracast protocol in the case of my MWDA, whereas the one to your Smart TV is using the Chromecast protocol (SmartView supports both).
Anyone else have any suggestions on getting Netflix to work over Miracast?

Have not been able to screen mirror to my TV through either my Roku (I have a Roku 3 and Roku stick and same issue on both). I have never had a problem using the wireless screen mirror function with my Roku's before. I also have allshare cast on my Samsung DVD/surround sound system, and it will never connect the wireless screen mirror from my phone either. My phone will say it is connected to the Roku's, but it will sit there on the Roku screen on the TV at about 30% of the bar that comes up when the phone is first loading the screen mirroring to the TV.
Yesterday I almost bought a chromecast dongle yesterday to see if that will work for screen mirroring, but figured I should ask here if anyone else has had an issue wirelessly screen mirroring with their Note 9. TIA any help appreciated!

Thanks for the info. My S8+ and Note 8 both used to cast fine to the Roku and my Samsung blu ray system. I still have my Note 8 and now it doesn't screen mirror anymore either. Thought it was just a Note 9 issue but it also plagues the Note 8 also. Maybe it's and android 8.0 issue?
Do you mean that you got a specific app from the playstore that was successful in screen mirroring? If so, may I ask what app you got that works? TIA.

I'm trying to remember what all it did it's been a while since I used it
My wife s8 casts just fine with stock app. Ive read a lot of horror stories with smart share and such all the way back to 5.1 or 6.0. Random issues with each update
Yeah, wireless screen mirroring has always been a bit stuttery. But at least it worked in the past. Now, it doesn't. I have tried my Note 9, Note 8 and my wife's old S8 (now our sons phone). None of them seem to work. Thought it was maybe my router settings or some setting on my phone, but don't think those are the issue. Still might buy the chromecast and see if it works. Although I read the chromecast has it's own issues and bugs. You'd think as tech gets better these thing would work better, but doesn't seem to be the case so far!
Just toggled on smartview, and managed to cast to my Roku 3.

I've got that toggled on.... it still sits there at the "starting video from...." screen at about 30% of the bar. My phone says it's connected, but on the TV with Roku it never connects. Don't understand it.

So I DL'd the app and it does work to cast misc stuff to the Roku. It doesn't screen mirror though, and I really need a full screen mirror so I can mirror Watch ESPN from my phone to my TV.
Still can't get the Roku and phone to actually screen mirror - it just sits there on the "starting video from..." screen. Dunno WTH the problem is.
I finally got this to work. I went into the Roku settings and on the screen mirror settings I put "prompt" instead of "always allow". When the two devices tried to connect the Roku came up with the "allow device" prompt, I hit "allow" and it connects every time now.
I had also went into Smart View settings on my phone and looked at various settings there. I didn't see anything I thought would help, so I don't think it was any settings on the phone. Dunno for sure. I am just happy to have screen mirroring that is working now!

yea been a while since i tried it
Thats all my s8 does too i try wifi direct and smart screen or whatever
Ima try this guys fix and see if prompt works
Well I thought I had posted this earlier today, but for some reason my post didn't go through. I got screen mirroring to work via the Roku. What I did was go into the Roku settings and changed the Roku from "always" allow the phone to mirror to "prompt" before allowing. So after I changed that Roku setting, I went into Smart View and tapped on the Roku tab in smart view. The Roku then popped up with a message to "allow always", "allow once", or "deny" my phone from pairing to screen mirror. I hit "allow once" and immediately it worked. Tried it about 5 more times, it worked every time. Was able to mirror Watch ESPN and every app I tried.
Hopefully this was the cause of my issues and anyone else having problems can get it to work the way I did.
Screen Mirroring
There's an app called screen mirroring. I have a Note 9 and it works fine on a roku to mirror your screen to the TV.
