There is a stock backup by @rbheromax on this forum [link]. Also, you can RUU the device and return it completely to stock if you choose. If you detail out the issues that you're having, then a user might be able to assist you.

Hey Community,
i have a Stock HTC One (M7) and i like to test out some Custom ROM's, there are many perfect guides how to S-OFF, install recovery, get root, flash a custom ROM but one thing i couldn't find...what to do before?
I've read trough the forums, read the Q&A, have googled for it but i didn't found a solution to the question which is the best and securest way to Backup everything i need to go back to Stock without any problems like "Oh...you haven't backed up your xyz? Wow, now you're in trouble!"
Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me a tip or link which i wasn't able to find?
thanks a lot!

Its always a good thing to have the correct RUU for your phone (if aviaible) . Also make a Nandroid backup from your custom recovery.

You don't really need S-OFF for most cases. I have S-ON and am running custom rooted roms without issue. So I can't say how easy it is to get back to S-ON. Maybe this thread contains some info on that (it contains everything else)
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438026
There are ways to get back to unmodified bootloader here on the forums and as for backing up, once you have TWRP or CM installed, boot to recovery and then select Backup. This will create a TWRP folder (if you use TWRP) in /sdcard which contains a nandroid backup. If you restore from that backup you will go back to the exact rom you had when you made the backup, apps, settings and all.
You should do a nandroid backup before flashing anything tbh, or at least keep a recent one around.
Hey all
This has almost definitely been asked before but I've had a look round and there's so much information out there that I'm totally confused so hoped someone could help.
I keep getting a pop up asking me to install and OTA update to Android 4.3. I'd like to do this but worried that I'm going to do some damage as my phone is rooted.
I am not concerned about losing root (in fact I'd like to lose it) but I'm worried that I might brick my phone when I install the update. Is there anything I should be aware of or an I go ahead and install it?
I'm in the UK and on O2.
Any advice would be gratley appreciated.
Thanks

If you're running custom recovery you can just make a backup of your current system and flash the OTA, and if there are any issues restore the backup.

Well not exactly ...he'll have to flash stock recovery to take the OTA
but backing up before making any changes is always a good idea.
So... make a nandriod backup
copy it to your pc
flash stock recovery
download and install the OTA
Flash back your custom recovery and enjoy
I've been trying to root/install a custom ROM on my HTC One all day and it has been a nightmare throughout. The custom ROM I got did not work correctly, had tons of errors on the simplest tasks. But then I tried to restore a stock ROM and it got stuck on the bootloader. I was able to get a restore on the phone, but I didn't have a functioning ROM I could actually restore with.

PM me and I will see if I can help, I need more info on what you did to get to this point....
You should be able to get it back. I have found that the HTC One isn't the easiest device to brick.
Just give us some more details & the users here can most likely get you up & running again.
Agree.. a Galaxy S2 the One definitely is not.

Can you supply more info? What does your bootloader say?
What rom did you flash to get into this situation?
Hi there!
First of all, yes, I'm completely new to modding Android phones. Not so new to modding in general though, which makes me question why I made such a nooby mistake... but alas, I now have to ask what many might think to be a nooby question in order to fix said mistake.
Just as the title said, I accidentally installed CWM before flashing my phone, and am now unable to launch into Recovery Mode. I know that there's a way to get it revert it to stock recovery, but as far as I've been able to tell, there's no way to do that without going into the Recovery menu in the first place. Does anybody have an idea what I can do?
My phone can still launch to the firmware (stock firmware, but am planning on installing Cyanogenmod 11), so for now I'm alright but considering the OTHER problems I'm having with the stock firmware, I'd really like a way to get back to my installation ASAP. If I can't, I'll get to my problems with the stock FW later...

We continue in the other thread
my phone isnt rooted but that part i can do alone. the thing is that these processes scare me u know , losing all your data and all that .
can someone please explain to me what will exactly happen and how to flash a rom because my phone isnt compatable with the easy methods such as using clockwork mod
or rom manager. i guess that im gonna need to flash a custom recovery image which i still dont get .
please help
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The first time you flash a Rom can be scary. The best thing you can do is do your homework before flashing and make sure you know how to return to stock in case something goes wrong. The best place to get help is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help and I'm going to ask a moderator to move your question there
Good luck and happy flashing

Like the other guy said, the first time flashing a rom does sound scary, but mostly anything you do can be reverted and you can get back to stock safetly
as long as you do know how to get back to stock before you flash you should be good
Also you should get to know the key's to get to certain modes I.E: flashmode, fastboot and a hard restart
