Hello!
I've tried too much option on my Moto XT1058.
Can someone tell me a freat option to get better battery?
Is a Custom ROM like a Ehndroix or the Stock ROM with a custom kernel?
I do not care about custom feature, just about battery life and the stock features like active display, what is the better custom rom or kernel for this?
Thanks!

I, too, am still searching. I've come to realize that after quite some time, batteries holding capacity deteriorates.

Hi,
Which of the custom ROM do you find better than stock ROM, based on your own experience. What I'm missing by using stock ROM ? you think

I guess the answer is, it depends like everything else. Custom ROMs come in a great variety, AOSP, AOKP, TW, hybrid ones like Paranoid. Just flash and try
Personally I like TW. I tried Criskelo and Kingdroid, also tried paranoid(non TW). I liked Kingdroid the best. It has the newer version of TW(as opposed to the stock ROM), somewhat better battery life, more fluid IMHO, better performance overall.
ROMs are more like, to each their own. Try it, you have nothing to lose. I tried a few over a weekend, and settled on one that I dont change often because of lack of time.
I agree..
I agree, too.
Just one more suggestion as this could help you determine faster if the rom does what you need/want:
Root your phone and use a backup software (titanium or backup root, for example), saves you time
If you do this already nevermind
But to answer your question directly: most of the roms focus on smothness and stability, others implement whole new features (in paranoid rom you can choose for every app if you want the tablet or phone version) or make it easier to tweak your system (liquidsmooth would be my example for this). Also, there are several JellyBean ROMs which only miss a few features so you are always up to date and don't have to wait for Samsung's infamous touchwiz-"magic" to be applied...
And it actually teaches you a thing or two about Android and the development for it (at least it did for me )
Hope I could help
I want to go back to stock from AOSP, I don't have an issue with AOSP but it seems that because there will never be open source drivers from Samsung, that the battery life/graphical smoothness (butter etc) will always be better on stock. Is that true? Are the drivers, battery life and responsiveness always going to be better on stock?
Could someone who knows about stock ROMs recommend a ROM similar in concept to Slimbean/Slimkat (I'm using Slimsaber currently)? I like how it is anti-bloat, I hate bloat.
I just want something simple to be able to get the best battery life with my apps/games.
And why is it so hard to find a stock ROM now that hotfile is dead? It's like no one bothered to use alternate mirrors?? Can't understand that.
Is XXLTA the latest stock ROM version?
The only better aspect of stock ROM is the camera app due to the propriety drivers. But aosp Roms are more smooth. Battery life is nearly equal. I won't recommend a specific ROM, there are many our there that fulfill your needs plus it may turn this thread into best ROM thread and thus it will be closed.

Dear all,
I am come from Sony mini phone to S3 mini. Flash roms on Sony mobile was quite easy with cwm.
Now on S3Mini I am a Newby. It would be interesting to have cm11 but main interest is a good battery life time. And in parallel Rom has to be stable.
Does battery life time will increase in case of custom Rom, compared with stock Rom?
And if yes - which Rom shall I chose?
Thanks for your advices

You flash roms on cwm for the s3 mini, so nothing else is different. You're going have to flash different roms and find one that works for you, battery-life is extremely subjective (i might get 24 hours and you might get 12 hours because you use it differently then I do).
Generally speaking threads like these are closed because what ROM i think is best, you might think is awful.
Here's a link to flash TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678274
Generally speaking older ROMs tend to be more stable and bugfree as they had more work done on them.
From what I know there's
CM10.1, CM10.2 CM11, OMNIROM, PACROM, AOKP, CARBON, VANIR, SLIMROM and plenty more.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-mini/orig-development check out those ROMs, and see if they fit your needs.
Thread closed as its a Best ROM thread.
OP there is no absolute "best" ROM - only the ROM that works best for you. Due to differences in how you use the device, what works best for other users may not work best for you and vice versa. My suggestion therefore is to try out some different ROM's and see which one you find the best for you.
I have had had several "custom rom flash addictions" to various android models.
I have not been flashing on my Xperia Z1 since i have always have had a feeling there is a bigger risk of breaking the phone.
How big of a difference does a custom rom for the Xperia Z1 make?
Does it get alot smoother and faster?

most custom roms will make your device faster and more smooth. There are two sorts of custom roms: Stock based and AOSP Based.
Stock based custom roms are only roms with a modified sony firmware and some extra functions and so on.
AOSP based custom roms (like cyanogenmod) are based on the google AOSP and this roms have nothing in common with the stock sony software.
Roms like cyanogenmod are faster than stock sony android and will give you the possibility to personalize your rom. you can change they way it looks like and also you can tweak your rom with cpu settings and so on. But you will get less battery life than with stock sony android.
P.S. there are many tutorials to flash custom roms, search in honami section and if you follow the tutorials observantly you wont brick your device

The biggest problem of CM and other non-stock based roms is the camera. You lose so much functionality like 4K video, 120fps slo-mo, burst shot and mostly picture quality. But their advantage is the speed, looks and functionality(except camera).
I hope the new lollipop update gets the new camera API.That will change everything(hopefully).

@mo120697 : I got that from ur previous post . I was just asking y this is so . Since AOSP has less (none) bloat and none of the sony services and apps , shouldn't it be more battery friendly ?

Logically yes, but in fact Sony android has much better battery life, I don't know why..
Hello
Just a quick question on everyones thoughs as to wether custom roms make a big difference on this phone or not?
This is the first phone I have had where I do not have an immediate desire to unlock my bootloader and start messing around with stuff. I enjoy OneUI's featureset and everything just seems to work as expected.
Do custom roms on this device have a significant improvement over performance and battery life?
Thanks
LineageOS Roms have much better battery in my experience, and is snappier, however the animations aren't as smooth I feel. If you have no problems with performance however, there's no point switching to LOS just for the speed.

I typically only like to root and use stock rom. I need root because I hate ads, and like to have full control over my phone. With the S10 if you don't use a custom rom though you'll need to use a button combo to boot into the rom anytime you power off so I chose to go with BeyondRom since it's basically the stock rom but is modified to always boot into the rom.
