[Q] Where is the serial number ? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I cracked my phone last week and am trying to get a replacement with my 2 year protection plus plan. The Sony representatives are asking for a serial number. I've checked the box and there is no mention of a serial number or s/n number. I've pulled out the scroll from the side flaps and it has a bunch of numbers but the representative has no idea which one is the s/n. can someone confirm which number is the serial that Sony is looking for ?

I think they should mean the imei number

They said they only take the serial number which is a 10 digit code with a mix of letters and numbers.

There's a bunch of serial number looking things on my box, but I can't find it on the phone itself. I hope you kept your box.
Alternatively try typing "*#*#7378423#*#*" and seeing if it's in there somewhere.

nvm

Can you still acess the phone?
Settings - About Phone - Status - Serial number: 10 characters, letters and numbers

Unfortunately , I cracked my screen and there's no response for the screen anymore

Plug your phone to your pc Via USB cable.
In Device and printers find the phone , depend on what mode you had Xperia connectivity in MTP or MSC it shows up as different device. MTP shows up as Sony Z3 Compact, MSC as D5XX
Right click for Properties, Hardware tab, click Properties button, in the Details tab, in the dropdown select "device instance path"
Your serial number (the red bit here) should be the end of a long line USB\VID_0FCE&PID_01BB\XY1234ABCD if you were in MSC
or #XY1234ABCD&0# if in MTP (ignore the # and the &0#)

Open the compartment where SIM card is located. If you look closely, you will see a small white paper-like flap coming out of a grove near the SIM card slot (it's located between the SIM slot and the back of the phone). Using a pair of tweezers or something similar with fine tips, carefully pull it out. It is a piece of paper with the serial number, IMEI, country of origin and year and week of manufacturing of your device. I didn't pull out mine completely and was easily able to push it back once done.

OP wanted to know what the serial number is on the scroll. The scroll dose not have the serial number printed on it. Mine only has Model,SI (?) , IMEI,Type,FCC ID and IC. None of which matches the serial number. Does your scroll have the Serial number?

[GUIDE] How To Restore Service If You've Lost Your MEID - MEID/IMEI:0 MEID=0

Ok, So if you are in the shoes I just stepped out of, then you've lost your
MEID/IMEI.
If you encounter problems during flashing, upgrading or downgrading you may fall victim to your MEID/ESN being zeroed out. The usual cause is pulling your battery while stuck on the white LG Software Update screen.
How do I know my MEID is zeroed out?
If you happen to be using LGNPST, it's fairly obvious from the info on the right hand side. If you're just using your phone, from the Home screen click: Menu -> Settings -> About phone -> Status and look for the following:
MEID HEX: A0000000000000
or
MEID:0
or some variant
Congratulations! You're zeroed out!
How do I repair it myself?
This is the way I did it, and it was fast and easy..
This is assuming you already have all your drivers in place
Google and download the newest demo version of DFS CDMA TOOLS ,download it and install it.
Pay for it or whatever you need to do
1. Connect your phone in debug mode.
2. Run DFS
3. Connect to your port phone through its debug port.
4. Now click the play spc button, to send the spc of 000000 or put whatever your spc is in that box and hit send. You will see device unlocked.
5. Now in the programming tab, then general tab, under the lock codes section, click on reset, then click write to clear all codes, then under the MEID section, click read. You will see all zeroes here.
6. Now type in your MEID hex, dec, and pESN as needed, then click write. Also Type in your IMEI at the bottom if you have one and click write. These are located under the battery or on your factory box. You will see that the the software automatically converts your meid to (p)esn and meid dec and fills these boxes automatically.
7. After this completes successfully. Your MEID has now been repaired.
8. Click Reset at the top and your phone will Restart. You should now boot back up with service restored and your MEID back in place.
This should be stickied because A LOT of people have had this issue and it took me 10 hours of searching to figure out this solution. There are other solutions that take A LOT more effort and work/using adb and more... but this one I figured out on my own... this is straightforward and easy.
Thanks, Gary

How to find Serial Number of ATT SM-G920A

Hello All,
To find your serial number do the following steps. I found this somewhere on the net and would like to post it here.
1. Press volume down + power + home button.
2. hold the home button when you see the recovery screen.
The second steps will allow you to see the serial number of the device.
If you are able to get Smart Switch to work, can you please PM me your serial number. My serial number is not registered with Samsung and at the moment, I am unable to recover my phone.
They rejected my warranty saying the phone was rooted. However, I never rooted the phone in the first place. My Knox counter is 0 as well. I hate Samsung now!!!
cool thanks. always nice to see someone contributing to the forums. may i add an easier way would be to get it off the box or by downloading an app from the play store (for those who do not want to turn the phone off and go into the recovery) also if you go to about device in your settings and then status it has the serial number there as well.

So you are asking someone to give you their devices serial number so you can register it to your own account?
Is it me, or is this completely sketchy?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
The serial number is also listed under Settings --> About Device --> Status.

Sounds like you have a counterfeit phone. As AT&T phones have the bootloader locked by Samsung and are currently not rootable.....so if your Serial Number is coming up invalid to Samsung that means your serial number wasn't created by Samsung. You could also argue with samsung if you feel your phone is a legit phone that it can't be rooted as it is an AT&T variant if your "knox" counter is actually 0.
you could also since you can load into recovery, you can also load into ADB and then reflash your phone to the orignal odin version and restore your phone that way.

Nope unfortunately
Flash it with HCU maybe it will work (it's a paid app)
: HCU Client
IMEI SV is the Software Version of the IMEI-related code in your phone. It's always "22" on the P9.
At least on my phone, the IMEI is shown directly on the "About phone" page in the settings, while the IMEI SV ("22" here, as well) is shown on the "Status" subpage (which shows signal strength and MAC addresses and so on).
Another way to display the IMEI, which is mandated by the GSM standards body, is by entering *#06# in the dialler. Does it show anything there?

Question Serial Number in Status different from box and phone sticker

Hello everyone, I recently bought RN10 PRO (Indian version) and I've noticed that the Serial Number in the settings and when dialing *#06# is different from the box, however the two IMEI numbers are identical on both the device and the box
I ran CIT (dialed *#*#6484#*#*) and the Serial Number there was identical to the one on the box.
Should I be concerned or return the device? or is it something common and normal?
thank you for your time.
It's not uncommon for the software to be misreporting the serial number sometimes. Xiaomi has some bugs, but as long as it's not breaking, it's fine. My phone doesn't report the correct serial number either after update, and I know it's a genuine device since I bought it sealed and in person at an official Xiaomi store. The important thing is the IMEI, as the IMEI is unique to each network device. Though the IMEI can be spoofed, each IMEI is registered to a specific device, so if you ran a check on a spoofed IMEI, it will return a different device as a result.
Here's what you can do to check for authenticity. Visit this website and enter the IMEI (first one, then the other): https://www.mi.com/global/verify/#/en/tab/imei
Both IMEIs should show your correct phone model.
