Can you flash userdata.img in fastboot or data factory reset in recovery and try again?

So your buying a stolen/lost nexus 6. Awesome.
Best thing is download a tool kit, and just flash the stock firmware. You'll be set then.

Chances are, no. You will not be able to do anything with it, without the Google account password it's asking for. This is a new security feature of 5.1. It could be that the seller forgot to remove their account information or that the device has been lost or stolen. Contact the seller.

I think seller was try restore etc. And now reselling on ebay, so is no chance to use a phone anymore ?

If the device is on 5.1, no, not without access to that password.

I think is 5.1 but is the eBay auction number 171768427083

[Q] purchasing used N6, asking for previous account info...

On 5.1
I know the phone is status 2(unlocked), but not sure if the boot loader is unlocked. Seller is a reseller and not the original owner so I have no way to get the info. Is there any way to unlock this phone so I can use it without the original owners info, or would I be buying an expensive paperweight?

Contact the seller immediately and request a refund, as SuperSU recommended. I would add to that, if you don't get a positive response from the seller within 24 hours, open a case for "device significantly not as described" in PayPal. It takes a while for these to be resolved, so getting it started is a good idea. You can cancel the case at any time.
No, no. I didn't buy one yet. Just curious. But, with all the new security features in 5.1, and all the broken-screen N6's on EBay, I wanted to make sure before I did spend the money.
Thanks guys.

Help with my secondhand Note 5? (device protection lock)

Yesterday I bought a Note 5 from a guy including the original package and the receipt. I realised that it has this Device Protection triggered (the new feature on lollipop which locks the phone when the phone is factory reset while still having the lock screen enabled and requires the original owner to log in with his google account). I asked him to meet me again for him to log in which he refused as he thinks it is unnecessary and now he is not responding since. So I'm just stuck here with the brand new locked device. Anyone know what I can do? Can it be unlocked via warranty as I have the original receipt? Thanks

Contact Samsung to find out. Warranties and laws regarding them are different in every country. I don't think anyone here will be able (or willing) to help. We have no way to know if you paid for the device, paid for a stolen device, or stole it yourself. (I'm not accusing you of anything - just pointing out that folks here on xda developers have no way to know.)
Good luck.

Nono I totally understand! I will provide photos of the ad/conversation/receipt anything if i need haha
I did call Samsung/google yesterday but they were not too sure and just suggested to send it - which makes me a bit worried that if it cannot get it done which can be a waste of money and time.. oh well!
I'm posting to see if anyone went through the same situation!
Thanks for your reply!!!

Samsung won't be able to do anything about it. They have nothing to do with Android's device protection. Google support is probably your only solution, and you'll need to keep at it until you get directed towards somebody who does know. I'm not sure they'll be able to help you, but apart from convincing the guy you bought it from to meet again, it's all you can do.
Honestly, you'll probably have an easier time convincing the guy to unlock it than convincing Google support you actually purchased the phone.

hi,
just a few pointers to consider....original receipt?
from Samsung or cellphone shop /provider
or from person you bought it from ... or who ?
Why don't you approach them.. for assistance ?
Another point, that warranty that you got, is it "transferable"...? to a 3rd party.(in your case)
In my country and my experience you get very few companies. /shops that would accept /honor, warranty if sold to 3rd-party?.(resold on the sidelines)
I found that even when a customer bought device cash, the company (seller) normally has some record of the original customer and in some cases you have to register device to be entitled to be covered re warranty. It might be different where you are.. i don't know.. i mention it in my post that you can consider it. If not applicable, plse ignore above.
good luck
Hey guys!! Thanks for the replys
After going thru all the possible places (Samsung, google, retail shop the phone was bought from), the only answer is to reach the seller no matter what...
I nagged my seller and explained every single part of the problem and then he finally decided to meet me and log in for me which he did!
However, I seriously feel that Google has to do somethimg about this device protection. For example, allowing the seller to generate one time code for the buyer to log in when they can't meet and don't want to dhare the password, or something that seller can disable this on a computer.. just something.
Well I hope my case gave you some heads up
When selling/buying an Android higher than 5.1, always check the device protection.
If youre a seller, factory reset after disabling the lock screen!
Cheers guys
How did you buy it and pay for it? eBay and Paypal, then just raise a dispute. The £500 or so blocked funds on his account should wake him up. At least it's sorted now.

Hard Bricked Nexus 6,Anyway to unlock the Bootloader???

Hi.I was a newbie nexus 6 user but accidently,my phone died. Now when i try to boot my phone,it boots into bootloader mode.In the bootloader logs,it says failed to validate system image. When i try to boot to recovery,it gives the same error(i see when i look bootloader logs.)The phone is also in locked state. When i try fastboot oem unlock,it says me to allow oem unlock in the developer options. And also i tried fastboot -w(format userdata and cache),and then fastboot oem unlock, still same reaction. In this situation, anyway to get my phone back?If is there anyway to allow me oem unlock, then i can achieve.I hope, the only option isn't rma .I am able to use some fastboot commands can not the fastboot flash commands because the phone is in locked state.
I don't understand why google make this new option in dev options,it is really weird. That made me stuck looking my phone sadly, and get back my nexus 4 using.Glad nexus 4 is still perfect stable
Sorry for my poor english,i hope you all understand my problem.

If your bootloader is locked and enable OEM unlock is not enabled and you don`t have a custom recovery i`m afraid you`re device is bricked. There is nothing you can do to get it running again afaik and you need to send it in for repair

I think this should be covered under warranty imo as the device is not unlocked and/or rooted. Its probably a software faillure of some kind unless you did maybe do something to the device?

Imagine if you've lost or had your device stolen how easy it would be for the thief to wipe it and have a,"new "phone.
This is kind of a Solomon's decision now, isn't it? Better to kill the phone than the other person use it?

Hi again,i have looked for the rma process and in the program choosing page,it says for advanced exchange premium fee 0$,so it means nothing will be hold on my credit card?Anyone has experience?I didn't see anything about 500$ hold in the description. Also, should i send it all the things in the box(charger, cable and documents),or only the phone?Do they send new one or used refurbished one?It says like new one so i ask.
I have some experience with returning Nexus devices to Google (not Motorola themselves).
The first was my Nexus 6, which developed the known back-peeling problem. Google sent me a brand new one with a return label for the faulty one, and didn't charge anything, though of course if the faulty one hadn't arrived they would have.
The other was my Nexus 5, which ran out of battery at one point and afterwards nothing I could do would make the radio work - and a phone with a broken radio isn't a phone. Again, despite it being nominally out of warranty (at 18 months) Google sent me a refurbished one with a return label for the broken one, and the refurbished device was totally indistinguishable from a brand-new one.
In both cases they wanted only the phone, not the peripherals, and I was never without a phone.
So regardless of whether they send you a new or refurbished one, as long as they don't charge you I reckon you'll be happy.

Contact Amazon first, maybe they`ll send you a new one. Else try Motorola, you can only deal with Google if you bought the phone from the Play Store.
Your contract is with the company you bought it from - Amazon. They're usually pretty good about returns, though they will wonder (as I do) how you managed to brick it. You haven't really explained that. "Accidentally my phone died"? What was the accident?
If i can find motorola signed img's,it can allow me to flash even it's locked state.I have tried google's stock img's,but only able to doengrade the bootloader, the sgstem img gave error when flashing. Also i have tried verizon image with xml.zip(https://www.google.com.tr/url?sa=t&..._Xelndmr_1g&sig2=xy09mDye-bBE79mYp045ow),same error when flashing system.img.The error says preflash validation error, invalid signed image.Due to this errors, all is about finding signed image. The way works for moto e in the same situation,so it can work in nexus 6 too(http://techylab.com/1576/fix-bricked-moto-e/).Anybody help?
There is no Motorola-signed image available for this device. Since this is one of Google's Nexus line of phones, Motorola's only involvement is to provide the hardware. Google provides the firmware, which you presumably already have. The only good news I can give is that you also get Motorola's warranty with this device, and thus even if Amazon should give you a difficult time in asking for an exchange, Motorola should be able to help you.

Accidentaly,i have deleted wrong partition(cid block) using qpst tool.(writing wrong number caused this,mmcblk0pxx)
I have this block's backup but nothing apliable in this situation.
So in other words, the phone didn't die. You killed it by trying to add LTE bands to the phone using QPST.
Assuming Amazon exchanges the device for another one, when you get the new device, don't use QPST on it!

The phone box should have a Samsung seal tape on it. Before you open it, you can check if that has been tampered with.

Aliexpress provides a lot of spare parts for Xiaomi but for this model, I can't find it.
Maybe because of the price

Found here but no idea if it's a trusted site.

$399

Is it still charging?
Check if it is not in EDL mode.
Install the drivers and connect it to the pc.
Search qualcomm drivers EDL mode.

If there is a rom, there is firmware, firmware and rom are two different things.
The firmware connects the hardware part to the software part.
If you have firmware, you can install any version of Rom with Miflash since the firmware is included in the rom.
You will probably have to use EDL mode to flash firmware on a motherboard without firmware, which is quite tricky and requires special permissions.
