Hi.I was a newbie nexus 6 user but accidently,my phone died. Now when i try to boot my phone,it boots into bootloader mode.In the bootloader logs,it says failed to validate system image. When i try to boot to recovery,it gives the same error(i see when i look bootloader logs.)The phone is also in locked state. When i try fastboot oem unlock,it says me to allow oem unlock in the developer options. And also i tried fastboot -w(format userdata and cache),and then fastboot oem unlock, still same reaction. In this situation, anyway to get my phone back?If is there anyway to allow me oem unlock, then i can achieve.I hope, the only option isn't rma .I am able to use some fastboot commands can not the fastboot flash commands because the phone is in locked state.
I don't understand why google make this new option in dev options,it is really weird. That made me stuck looking my phone sadly, and get back my nexus 4 using.Glad nexus 4 is still perfect stable
Sorry for my poor english,i hope you all understand my problem.

If your bootloader is locked and enable OEM unlock is not enabled and you don`t have a custom recovery i`m afraid you`re device is bricked. There is nothing you can do to get it running again afaik and you need to send it in for repair

I think this should be covered under warranty imo as the device is not unlocked and/or rooted. Its probably a software faillure of some kind unless you did maybe do something to the device?

Imagine if you've lost or had your device stolen how easy it would be for the thief to wipe it and have a,"new "phone.
This is kind of a Solomon's decision now, isn't it? Better to kill the phone than the other person use it?

Hi again,i have looked for the rma process and in the program choosing page,it says for advanced exchange premium fee 0$,so it means nothing will be hold on my credit card?Anyone has experience?I didn't see anything about 500$ hold in the description. Also, should i send it all the things in the box(charger, cable and documents),or only the phone?Do they send new one or used refurbished one?It says like new one so i ask.
I have some experience with returning Nexus devices to Google (not Motorola themselves).
The first was my Nexus 6, which developed the known back-peeling problem. Google sent me a brand new one with a return label for the faulty one, and didn't charge anything, though of course if the faulty one hadn't arrived they would have.
The other was my Nexus 5, which ran out of battery at one point and afterwards nothing I could do would make the radio work - and a phone with a broken radio isn't a phone. Again, despite it being nominally out of warranty (at 18 months) Google sent me a refurbished one with a return label for the broken one, and the refurbished device was totally indistinguishable from a brand-new one.
In both cases they wanted only the phone, not the peripherals, and I was never without a phone.
So regardless of whether they send you a new or refurbished one, as long as they don't charge you I reckon you'll be happy.

Contact Amazon first, maybe they`ll send you a new one. Else try Motorola, you can only deal with Google if you bought the phone from the Play Store.
Your contract is with the company you bought it from - Amazon. They're usually pretty good about returns, though they will wonder (as I do) how you managed to brick it. You haven't really explained that. "Accidentally my phone died"? What was the accident?
If i can find motorola signed img's,it can allow me to flash even it's locked state.I have tried google's stock img's,but only able to doengrade the bootloader, the sgstem img gave error when flashing. Also i have tried verizon image with xml.zip(https://www.google.com.tr/url?sa=t&..._Xelndmr_1g&sig2=xy09mDye-bBE79mYp045ow),same error when flashing system.img.The error says preflash validation error, invalid signed image.Due to this errors, all is about finding signed image. The way works for moto e in the same situation,so it can work in nexus 6 too(http://techylab.com/1576/fix-bricked-moto-e/).Anybody help?
There is no Motorola-signed image available for this device. Since this is one of Google's Nexus line of phones, Motorola's only involvement is to provide the hardware. Google provides the firmware, which you presumably already have. The only good news I can give is that you also get Motorola's warranty with this device, and thus even if Amazon should give you a difficult time in asking for an exchange, Motorola should be able to help you.

Accidentaly,i have deleted wrong partition(cid block) using qpst tool.(writing wrong number caused this,mmcblk0pxx)
I have this block's backup but nothing apliable in this situation.
So in other words, the phone didn't die. You killed it by trying to add LTE bands to the phone using QPST.
Assuming Amazon exchanges the device for another one, when you get the new device, don't use QPST on it!

I'm not sure about nexus, but I assure you it is exactly the same with Samsung. I have owned many Samsung phones in the past. Unlocking your bootloader, on practically any manufacturers device will void your warranty. The HTC One Development edition ships with an unlocked bootloader, maybe try that?

That is not true.
Nexus devices can be restored to factory settings with showing no signs of modifications. I have got nexus 7 replaced with faulty usb, and galaxy s3 with screen problems all had custom firmware before. Yes there you will have a yellow triangle, if you used no stock kernel, but you can easly remove that, going back to manufacturer state. And i asked asus if open bootloader is a problem for RMA as i cannot relock with the faulty usb they said why would it be?
sad to hear htc is different.. I want that one, but this is giving me second thoughts...

It is true. Just because you can revert it doesn't mean it's not originally voided. If say your LED screen died and you sent it for warranty and you had no way to run triangle away due to that and they saw it, you would be getting a bill.
The only way to save your warranty on this device is s-off and that's not yet available.
If you don't like it go to the Samsung S4 which has such a locked down bootloader only one dev has achieved it and still hasn't released how he did it. So no root at all over there.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Your entire warranty is NOT voided due to unlocking or rooting. What DOES happen is your placed under more scrutiny and you have voided the warranty to things you can adversely affect.
For instance:
You rooted and your camera ceases to function or your LED flash dies. Your covered. I wouldn't recommend sending it in running a ROM, stock would ensure they can fix and test it.
Your rooted and your screen dies. You are covered.
Your rooted and the entire phone dies out of the blue. You would be under scrutiny regarding it and they would examine it to see if something you did caused the failure. If it is purely hardware related then you should be covered, otherwise your liable.
This same situation is what people who mod cars have had to fight against (and won). How does an exhaust modification cause a window failure? Or how does a custom head unit cause an engine failure.
There has to be a direct unarguable connection between your modification and the failure, I just had this happen with my Galaxy Nexus. It died completely and it was modified to high heaven. They knew it was unlocked but it wasn't the cause of the failure so it was fixed under warranty.
And BTW when you unlock your Nexus device it shows the exact same warning that the HTC unlocker software shows.

dude you need to do more research. samsung.htc.motorola.apple.lg,and google all say the same thing rooting, installing custom firmware, and unlocking bootloader may void warranty. if its not a manufacture defect they wont replace it. ive owned all of them and the message is always the same. it would be crazy for a company to sell you something with warranty and say do whatever you want with it and we will warranty for you

But as i read through lost of thread seems like this is not the case. Sometimes htc refuses to cover obious hardware defects because of unlocked bootloader.. Yes you can kill harware with software but it is not that easy... yes you can overclock and you can raise the voltage, but if there is too much heat the cpu will starts throttling or even reboot, yes you can overvrite the bootloader with 0-s etc etc, but a simple root should not void your warrianty as it does not do on a notebook. my phone is faster then my wifes netbook why i cannot "own" the two devices the same way, both have cellular data and everything... almost same devices on harware side.

You can but people do not know and assert their rights. I don't bother telling HTC my devices are unlocked or rooted I just state the problem and steps I have taken to fix it like a factory reset or whatever. HTC and every other company would love to invalidate as many warranties as possible it saves them money but you have to know what your rights are to assert them. The idea that rooting or bootloader unlocking or changing software in any way voids warranty is just plain crazy and in the USA we are legally protected from such craziness.

I feel the same way as an electrical and software engineer, but seems like it is a lottery and it they refuse to repair you can try to threaten them by telling them you will go to court, but that is not how it should work. And it is not how it is working with nexus devices as i can tell from my own experience. Thank you for your answers you seem like someone realy into this topic It made me a little less frustrated, but i still not know if i will jump on the htc bandwagon or not... I will try to contact the local htc service next week and will ask their opinion on the problem.
I think the keywords are "May void your warranty" so HTC can decide whether or not to cover you. I have had HTC devices and it's always a risk a person has to take with unlocking the bootloader. HTC using "May void your warranty" simple covers them, so it's up to them if they will cover it or not.

I agree with you that it's crazy how these companies try and operate. On the Nexus side I am sure you can find reports of people sending in devices that were unlocked and them not honoring the warranty the thing that helped us (with samsung too) is we can remove all traces of what we did :highfive:. Which the fact we have to do that is a bit crazy. In a perfect world companies would honor consumer protection laws and they would be better enforced. I only know about this crap as I'm a cell phone addict longest I've had a device in the last 3 years is maybe 6 months I just can't help it. I'm trying to be good and stick with the ONE as HTC have always tended to be my favorite.
The reason I have faith in HTC is I sent a International HTC One X into HTC USA. First they didn't care it was a international model (try that with sammy and they will laugh at you). Second this was one of the very first One X's so it had the wifi/gps issue very very badly. It was originally a black unit but I didn't like that so I bought a white case and swapped it out. When doing that I discovered the attempted fixes to the wifi antenna. It looked like someone who was a hobbyist at best had solder little metal leads to make better contact with the antenna and it looked horrible. Well I sent that sucker in with the white case and what do you know HTC didn't say anything about the board being soldered on or the fact the case was white. I had told them the phone had been in for repair at carrier before and it helped but then the issue came back (I have no idea what happened to this phone as I was at least the 3rd person who it passed through it's now got a nice home with my friend still going perfect) and now it was acting up again. Not saying everyone will have this luck but if you are smart use your brain and know as much as possible it should help.
Considering i bought the htc one from ebay with the tester bootload and changed IMEI, would they repair my phone camera if i send it to HTC? Would they keep the phone or would they send it back?

The IMEI was changed probably ba ESN, wont they use the IMEI to check warranty? Either way i dont believe they would keep the phone as its not illegal to change anything on the device (I think).

I highly doubt they would keep it. They may check against serial number as far as warranty but I've never dealt with HTC directly. I want to say HTC's warranty is a year and no HTC one has been out a year so every HTC One is still covered by warranty. If anything comes of it just play dumb and say you bought it on Ebay.
When I had to send my One back to get its screen repaired, I asked the rep I was on the phone with about the bootloader. He told me that the bootloader/ROM only becomes a problem when they can't flash it to stock for whatever reason, in which case the repair center will charge extra for the hassle of reflashing your phone. I was also told that flashing my phone to as close to stock as possible should be fine. I doubt they check your software any more than this. As with the "keeping the phone" deal, they probably wouldn't do such a thing unless it was listed as a stolen phone and some agency forced them to keep it.
My broken (shattered glass) screen wasn't covered by the warranty so they probably didn't check my warranty status. It may be different in your situation, but I hope that this helps.
Its to repair the known issue of the red/blue/green tint on the camera, i just want to play safe and get a new camera or a new phone.
Edit: Funny thing happened today, i somehow fixed my camera.
Anyway i was contacted by HTC in Portugal telling me, that because my phone was modified by Sprint the warranty is not valid in europe....

When you boot it from powered off it says device unlocked in the top left corner of the first boot screen. Unlocking is a one way ticket on these devices. Once unlocked you CANNOT relock it.
Thank you

THANK YOU... I bought it used and now it is having hardware issues. I didn't know if I could even try to send it in for warranty work, now I can try

I bought one unlocked on eBay.Right out of the box the touch screen was almost completely unresponsive. I opened a chat session on the Asus web site, told the rep what was wrong and specified that the tablet was unlocked. He asked me to reset it one more time, and when that didn't work he said that it was under warranty and gave me an RMA. Two days after they received it their web site said it was repaired and I had a FedEx tracking number, and now it's on the way back. So far it's been an excellent customer service experience. I can't speak for every circumstance but I'm impressed with them. (I don't work for them or have any affiliation of any kind.)
This was in the U.S. Based on my anecdotal experience I'd recommend being up front that it's unlocked (they know anyway) and be extra friendly and polite, both in the chat and on the form you fill out. I'll post back on Thursday when it comes back.
In case it's of interest to anyone in a similar situation, I got my tablet back yesterday in perfect working condition, still unlocked. When something is done well I like to encourage it by pointing it out. The service was fast and friendly and no issue was made of the tablet being unlocked. I had to decide whether to RMA it or return it to the eBay seller, and I really didn't want to make the seller deal with it since it was working when they sent it to me. (Good ratings - I trust them.) It worked out well for everyone.
Hey guys,
So a little while ago AT&T pushed out an OTA for the LG G Flex, I think it was minor security fixes and G Watch compatibility fixes, anywho I opted to skip the update and live with the icon in my status bar since I didn't know if the OTA would work properly on my rooted Flex. The OS was still the OEM 4.4.2, no custom rom or anything.
Well long story short, the update automatically started and I could not stop it, next thing you know my phone goes to reboot and the following error message came up:
ERROR: Boot certification verify
[720]----------------------------------------------------------------
[720]
[720]Secure Booting Error
[720]Cause: Boot certification verify
[720]
[720]----------------------------------------------------------------
This and the LG Logo for about 1 sec. before this screen are the only things I can get the phone to do. Factory Reset menu with Power+VolDwn works but the reset does nothing. Probably no OS on the phone right now.
I'm assuming it's the OEM bootloader that i've messed up somehow and need to return to stock to unbrick.
I'm not a rooting noob, I've been doing this since '09 and have unbricked multiple phones, I just have no idea how to go about starting this, and I can't seem to find a download of the original LG G Flex Recovery...
AT&T Service Center confirmed root so I can't send it back for a new one either...
I'm getting a replacement phone (Doogee Dagger DG550) to use in the meantime, so there's no rush, I might even end up selling the flex after I fix it, but right now it's a burning hole in my pocket I still owe on, so any help would be awesome..
One last thing, I run Linux Ubuntu on my laptop at home, no access to Windows unless i'm at work, so instructions in Linux would be great but not necessary, I do a lot of nothing at work (Cricket Wireless) so I can do all this on their Windows machine if I need to.
Call att and tell customer service that the ota they pushed to your phone has it stuck at the boot logo and you need a warranty replacement. They'll never know it was rooted. They get in so many devices daily and their warehouse employees that reflash these devices don't care or take the time to diagnose the issue they just plug it up to the PC and reflash the software to it. Regardless what state its in. This is due to time, quotas, lack of knowledge, and the just don't give a damns.
They'll send you a refurbished device overnight and you'll put yours in that box and ship it back. No cost no questions.
Yup. Just did that with my girlfriend flex on Tmobile. And countless other devices over the years.

G FLEX not girlfriend. Holy auto complete.
Sorry for the late reply
I already tried that, ATT told me to bring it to their Service Center, which is really just an ATT store for people with phone problems, after bringing it in they did a root check on my phone and said they cannot except it and that I was SOL. I'm fairly experienced with ADB and unbricking phones but I don't even know where to start...

you need to call back in and talk to someone else, they can refer you to a dsc but you do not have to go to one.. That was a rep not doing their job.

Can you elaborate more? Do you mean call ATT Customer Care? I never called anyone, I brought it to my ATT store and they referred me to the service center where they performed a root check. Also what is a 'dsc'?

DSC is short for Device Support Center. I would call att and talk to a rep, they should be able to warranty replace your device over the phone and send a phone to you

I know the phone is status 2(unlocked), but not sure if the boot loader is unlocked. Seller is a reseller and not the original owner so I have no way to get the info. Is there any way to unlock this phone so I can use it without the original owners info, or would I be buying an expensive paperweight?

Contact the seller immediately and request a refund, as SuperSU recommended. I would add to that, if you don't get a positive response from the seller within 24 hours, open a case for "device significantly not as described" in PayPal. It takes a while for these to be resolved, so getting it started is a good idea. You can cancel the case at any time.
No, no. I didn't buy one yet. Just curious. But, with all the new security features in 5.1, and all the broken-screen N6's on EBay, I wanted to make sure before I did spend the money.
Thanks guys.
