My wifes phone wont rotate and I was readin an article that said using that code you can get to the test screen to see if all the sensors and what have you are working.
I tried to "dial" the numbers and when I do nothing happens any idea why? or are there certain steps/settings that need to be done to get it working?

I couldnt get it to work on mine either. Easy thing to do is just open your camera and see if everything/settings is upside down and side ways or open an app such as Onedrive or Maps (shake to send feed back in turned on) if the shake to feed back box pops up then its bad.
Took me about 1.5 hrs to get my replacement sent out. I guess its not that easy for an edge plan. Local store said they would not even order it unless i gave them my phone first. Thats a no go for me right now as im working out west and cant go without a phone for who knows how long. The girl that i ended up getting on the phone was awesome and got me one sent out quick, should be here tomorrow.
Thanks for the info, not sure why but the code works on her phone but will not screen rotate, my phone rotates but code does not work.
As far as shaking goes I did it on my phone and it shows up, how do I know there is an issue?
When I shake the phone it says you shook the phone what's the issue under maps.

No those shake to send feedback will pop up even if you dont even move your phone if the accelometer/screen rotation is broke. That's how i noticed my phone was screwed was trying to do the 100gb onedrive samsung thing and it would not let me dismiss the box.
It does not come up just sitting there.
But no rotation. I installed an app called clineometer and it goes from 68 degrees to 90 degrees, when tilting the phone. not 0 degrees to 90.
Time to call verizon.
I still would like to know why *#0*# does not work on my phone though.

the iphone switches the screen off when it goes to your head then turns back on when u take it away. is there a simple app for this??
Phone lacks the proximity sensor the iPhone has. Fortunately, it has a plethora of other useful features (a keyboard, picture messages, etc.)

To add on to that the phone also goes to sleep when the call is connected and its just a matter of pressing the power button to get it to wake up again.
mine doesnt
Well mine has always went black when it goes up to my ear, but it would be nice if it came back on when removed from my ear.. although we dont have a proximity sensor, i dont see why it coulnt work with the gsensor/accelerometer. all it would have to do is go on when the phone is put back in the upright position

is there a setting for this?
is it possible to in fact use the light sensor? it obviously recognizes something when it turns off, maybe write up something saying "when dark below 'x' threshold, turn off screen. when bright above threshold, screen on. you would have to press the screen somewhat snugly to your face, but it sure beats nothing.

It should be possible, but no one has done anything with the light sensor of turning it back on. I'm thinking that the polling of the light sensor turns off when the screen is in standby. If we can somehow get that to work in only incall (so it doesn't have battery issues), then it should work, when it goes from little light to more light, it should act as close to phone to far away from phone.
One could even use 2 sensors for it? Maybe the Light-Sensor and the G-Sensor. So when u bring the phone to your ear the light gets dark an the position upright. (the phone turns the screen off) And as soon as it get brighter and the position is change to normal (whatever that is ) it turns back on.
I reall would love to write something like that. But so far i have no clue of writing anything for that phone. Does anyone know a tutorial for writing software for a pda?
Thx
Come on guys this would be soooo great

It doesn't actually do that when you put it up to your ear. It's a WinMo setting to put the phone in standby after a call is launched or received. What you preceive as behavior is actually a timing thing.
The guy from pocket shield managed to combine these two sensors, g-sensor and light sensor, to work together as locking/unlocking behavior.
maybe some g-sensor and lumos code can handle this thing... and create one cab solution here...
if some one could write this code it would be an AWESOME addition to the Phone. I would personaly love this as im sure many others would.
Thanks.
this is a bit late, but here's a cool app that i've found...

Morning,
Yesterday I was using my phone as normal, texting, sent a message, closed the screen, and it went all white. I opened it again, stayed all white. With the screen open, I pressed "end" to lock the phone, then unlocked and it was fine. Closed the screen again and it went white again with RGB lines all over it.
When the screen is closed, it will not show the screen other than with RGB lines all over it. If I have the screen closed and locked, slide it open, which automatically unlocks the screen, it displays fine. Or, if I leave the screen open, let the screen time out, or lock it manually, then unlock it with Menu+Menu, then it works fine.
So basically, it's F'd when the screen is closed. But when it's open, or slid open to unlock, then it's fine. Also, when I slode it 90% closed, it will switch to portrait mode and display fine. But when I close it 100% and the slide channel on the back of the screen hits the two metal contacts at the top of the channel, it goes jacked.
Any help would be appreciated. I really don't want to have to replace this phone....again.
Oh, I read the threads of the ribbon coming loose, but I don't know if this applies to my situation.
My phone just started doing this exact thing today. I am unrooting and exchanging under warranty...
Looked thru the ribbon thread and it doesn't appear to be the same thing...
It was fine one second and the next it was totally f'd. I'm sad...
But you will be happy for another year or so when you get your replacement.

This is true but I'll remain annoyed when I can't figure out what caused it, Lol. I'll just have to keep researching...
And just when my phone was doing so well
For about four days now the screen will go to a dark horizontal lines when you open or close the screen/keyboard. If I turn the screen off and back on it, will be back to normal. Running stock 1.6 non rooted.

Sounds like a loose connector that gets knocked out of place and then snaps back into place when the keyboard finishes opening. I doubt you're still in warranty, so that's not an option. Does it happen even if you open/close it gently?

Sounds like a definite hardware issue. You can try taking the phone apart, I did it with a guide, not very difficult. I had to reconnect a disconnected daughter-motherboard cable. The screen is a ***** to take apart but it might be worth it if its affordable to get a newer phone.

The screen went blank after about 2 weeks of this and won't turn on whatsoever. I replaced the motherboard/to display ribbon cable and it didn't fix the issue. Is there any other fix or should I sell it?
Its random but sometimes when I pick up the phone active display doesnt turn on and it wont work for a little while and then it will start working again anybody know whats going on? Im on 4.4 verizon.. I remember I had seen someone else either on here or reddit and they had a solution but now i cant find it..

That is weird. What do you do to fix it? just keep pressing the power button? or do you just wait and the screen eventually turn on? is it working meanwhile... like, can you lock yourself out on the pattern lock while the screen is off but supposed to be on?
probably totaly unrelated, but the nexus one have an issue with the amoled/digitizer. When the screen is on while charging (or on for longer periods without digitizer use) the digitizer will not work until the amoled is turned off/on again. maybe some crazy electro migration bug or badly spec caps going on on google+htc design for the n-one... maybe they haven't learned any lesson

Mine does that too sometimes, it did it most recently driving in the car. Have you tried wiping the screen? Sometimes if I make sure my screen is spotless, it's more responsive...don't know if it's placebo or not.
But you aren't the only one!

Im not sure maybe. Ill have to see what the screen does before it happens. When Ive noticed it my screen was off just sitting on the table and when I pick it up nothing happens.

I dont think it has anything to do with the screen though. Becuase ill pick up my phone and it wont turn on. What ive done is turn the screen on and off and then leave it for a few minutes and it just starts working again... pretty annoying but it happens very rarely

I think it doesn't work while in the car because it can't differentiate the pick-up motion vs. the motion from driving.
Not sure why it wouldn't happen sitting on a table though, unless it was just recently set down.
I just picked up an XZ2 for a steal. So far I really like the phone, but one thing has really been nagging me. The lift to wake functionality works pretty well most of the time, but occasionally, it will just stop working completely. It's like the phone goes to sleep and stops recognizing the sensors or something. It doesn't happen after sitting for a long time, either. It actually happens right after I've been using it. Today, the screen timed out and went black and no matter how much I shook the phone, put it in my pocket and took it out, etc., it never worked again until I hit the power button.
Before someone suggests just hitting the power button or fingerprint sensor: You're missing the point. I shouldn't have to. It's bad enough that Sony took tap-to-wake from us and never gave it back. But I expect this feature to work consistently. Really, you should rarely, if ever, have to hit the power button. A similar feature on the iPhone works without fail almost 100% of the time.
I'm just looking to see if anyone else has experienced this. The phone is fresh out of the box, has the latest build (51.1.A.4.225) and was set up manually, not restored from a cloud backup. Has anyone else seen this?
Oh yes, it is one of three really small, miniscule bugs I've got with my XZ2. In my case, the lift to wake only stops working a few times and after I wake the phone manually, it works the way it should work again. But it only happens in those rare times.

Thanks. Yeah, it's annoying. The inconsistency drives me crazy. It seems to have something to do with the screen timeout.
I wish they would just give us proper tap to wake back.
