Can anyone tell me how to enable tethering on stock? None of our roms are quite cutting it for me, but I want tethering.

Yeah, it doesn't work. None of the root tethering apps or the nonroot ones work. I want to know what the rom developers did so I can try to repeat that by editing my system.

As far as my understanding goes, there is no netfilter support in the haykuro builds of android. aNetshare and Wifi Tether require this in order to function correctly.

aNetshare WILL function without the netfilter support compiled into the kernel.

Just because no one is using it currently doesn't mean YOU can't use it.
More interesting information
More interesting information. All you have to do by the way is compile into the kernel and use it as an external module (lower memory consumption by not using statically linked modules you may not need). Also, another reason we shouldn't be downloading images from untrusted locations without checksums, way too easy to make a root kit.

You have never compiled a kernel, right?
There are some kernel-options which can't be compiled as module and netfilter-support is one of them.
DF Tethering Fix works but I have to manually apply it every time I want tethering to work. Is there a more permanent/automatic solution?
This wasn't a problem on CM12 but since moving back to ViperOne8, it's now an issue every time.
P.S. I am not actually even using the data plan either - I just need it to set up a subnet for a chromecast to connect to me so I can screen mirror back to it.

Not sure if it will help your particular case, but maybe try this guide from @thicklizard.
Thanks for that - I'll give it a try if I go back to Viper. I ended up switching to Nocturnal GE which so far is problem free in every respect that Viper or CM failed.

I ran that one for a long time and it's still my go to for a Senseless experience. To add any tweaks I was missing, I ran it with xPosed and Gravitybox with no trouble.
I'm a maintainer for PAC-Roms, and was trying to see what (if anything) could be done to port these features to custom roms. Has T-Mo added the features to AOSP? Has anyone attempted to compare the AOSP images vs the T-Mo images?

not in aosp, yet at least. and no factory image yet. but itll probably take a version of tmobiles blobs to get volte working on the new radio, and probably wifi calling as well(if it doesnt get put into aosp).

Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Could the system image be extracted from the OTA?

Will wi-fi calling work if you're rooted? I have it enabled and set to wifi preferred. I'm on stock image with stock kernel. only thing is I'm rooted.

Sorry but kinda in a time crunch...
I am needing to 'hack' wifi hotspot on my new N6.
I tried the build prop method without success. I am root and unlocked. Someone mentioned chroma to me but i dont see where it has the tethering work around..
Can anyone confirm this? Or suggest another ROM that is stocky that has tethering avalible
Thank you!
You could just add it to your account for the time you need it then remove it.

Chroma has it.
If the build.prop edit isn't working it is usually a typo. Works fine on every version of stock I have flashed. Working on mine as we speak. I used Root Explorer to edit. Most common typo was the keyboard trying to add a space after one of the periods.
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true

With computer Freeks roms, tethering is included. You don't need an app. What are you on right now - stock with locked bootloader, or custom ROM? What version of android?
im on stock 5.1 with root/unlocked bootloader

Alright thanks
Wi-fi tethering works on all the custom ROMs like CM and Resurrection Remix. Built in, you just need to turn it on.
There is now a major gap in the app market for a free tethering app
I used to use barnacle. It was great. But since the release of Lollipop on the latest phones (from 2014 onwards) barnacle and apps like it that used ad hoc beacons that were compatible with Android 4.2.2 and earlier versions are no longer compatible with the latest Android versions. Its a shame. I too am constantly on the lookout hoping for one that comes up.
