Anyone with GS6 on the old $70 Unlimited Plan? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6

I woke up to no data, and not able to make phone calls. Call 611 and it said my account was suspended. ( I bought my S6 outright, no payments )
Called 611, on hold for over 30 mins and when the rep came back he said check my phones internet, and it was working now, but I was also seeing this message before whatever he did fixed it;

Are you by any chance in Southern California? T-Mobile straight up crashed for a few minutes. I am on the $70 unlimited plan (switching to the $80 regular plan with a new device on Thursday) and I have a family member who has regular T-Mobile service and we both crashed on the same day as your original post. I just rebooted after trying to toggle back my service and I am on a M7 so its not a device or SIM card issue. I am 99.9999% sure T-Mobile just crashed for a minute or two

Why would you want to switch to the $80 plan?
I'm also on the $70 plan, no issues as far as service.

I'm on the $70 plan also with issues. The only thing the $80 plan offers that the $70 plan doesn't is 5gb of tethering as opposed to 3gb on the $70 plan.

I changed the thread cause there was another one just like it
I actually have the AT&T $50 Everything Unlimited since in my area it works pretty good (700kbps at night and 3500kbps during the day). I modified the APN and i get tethering as well, within 3 days i hit 4GB and now im past 15GB and i haven't noticed a problem!

I'm on the $30 T-mobile plan. Unlimited data, text, 100 min. I hardly call anyone so it's not a big deal. Data speeds are hit and miss in my area. Still need to test it out some more. At home I have Wi-Fi so it's not so bad. Saving 60 dollars a month over Sprint for basically the same service so I can take any negatives there may be.
T Mobile value family plan with 1000 minutes 2gb data and unlimited text messaging

I went with Solavei ($49 Unlimited, 4GB). With WiFi screwed as it is, I required a higher data plan to keep the phone from borking the rest of the network. The price is in line with the plan and if I happen to turn a few people onto the service the cost can be offset to a better bang for the buck. The service is great (T-Mobile) and the community is kind and helpful.
Shouldn't this be in Nexus 4 General ?

I'm on AT&T for the time being. Once I'm off contract I'm planning on switching over to T-Mobile. I need to grab a pre-paid sim to test, but from the coverage maps and tower locations, T-Mobile reception should actually be strong enough at my house to get rid of the microcell I have to make AT&T work. I've been on AT&T forever, but I'm finally starting to get sick of the reception and performance problems I have. Not to mention that T-Mobile is cheeper since they dropped the subsidy cost out of the subscription.
I'm running H2O Wireless which is an AT&T MVNO. $50 a month for unlimited talk/text but 500MB data which is more than I need really. I don't stream youtube while on the train as to me that's retarded . (I barely watch anything on YouTube anyways). I also get $20 of international calling included too and it applies as GF is in Germany so get to call her for free is nice (she can call the US for free too).
I'm thinking to switch to StraightTalk AT&T only because they have more data anyways even though I don't need it. Last month during Hurricane Sandy I used it up like hell! UPS battery finally got a work out after having it for almost 2yrs. Gotta check out if they have international calls too (AFAIK the same company owns them all, Locus Communications).
T mobile $30 prepaid (100 voice, unlimited text/data) convert from Sprint SERO-P customer. Saving $30 per month, no contracts, usable 4g speeds and GSM data access during calls.
Wish I had switched sooner!

Which Carrier will you use your Nexus 5 with?

Simple question: Which carrier will you use with your new Nexus 5? Since it is unlocked and works on Sprint/Tmo & AT&T, it gives us major free choice to pick the carrier we want.
If you are on a prepaid or MVNO type network, just pick the host network that your MVNO runs off of.
Currently using it on AT&T.

Thats what I like to see! A switch from iphone to android, and a switch to tmobile
And what "Other" carrier are people using? (Must be people not in the US, sorry I didnt think of that)
Mine will be in today, have a straight talk AT&T sim and card sitting, waiting. Hoping data works with some reported issues of AT&T and the nexus 5 not having the right IMEI for their network or something.
I also got a free tmobile micro and nano sim when they were on sale the other day as a backup plan.
I was with Sprint who always has had great coverage anywhere I've gone.
That said, I'm going to try to have $600/yr by switching to TMobile.
Might add Skype if I go over minutes too much.

I'm currently activated on the $45 straight talk plan because last month I used 2300 minutes talking to a special someone, if I find an alternative voip that is as convenient as the dialer I'd definitely do the 5 GB $30 plan. Verizon is too locked down. Pretty sure the Verizon S5 doesn't even have root yet lol.
Meanwhile in Korea they've got support for speeds up to 225Mbps which will be supported by the prime next month and here in the UK we go outside hoping just to get a good 3g signal :/, feels like living in the stoneage. 4g is just beginning to roll out to all carriers. We are so behind. *jealous*
Sadly, all that speed will be useless if you don't have unlimited data and pay an arm and a leg for it. I guess it is worth it if the needs warrant the price you have to pay to have it. I was with Verizon, and since I don't talk much I had 450 anytime minutes with unlimited text and 2g of data all for almost $100 a month. I got tired of over-paying and having to watch carefully and not go over the 2g cap. Hence I switched to Sprint and with the new Sprint Spark, I am quiet happy with it! I pay around $70 for unlimited talk/text/data a month. Sprint Spark is still new so coverage area is limited but it will get better just like when the Verizon LTE was first introduced Dec of 2010.

So your answer was to go to a carrier that hardly has any LTE? Sprint's only thing they have left is unlimited data.
I'm getting good coverage where I'm at, even picking up Spark, so I'm quiet happy with my decision. I never said to do what I did. I did say at the beginning of my initial reply that all that speed is useless if you don't have unlimited data.

As some of you might know, I've lost my employee account with Verizon due to them shutting down a few call centers in which I worked as a tech. I had 50% discount working for them. Not gonna pay no $300-400 a month for a cell phone service. No way. Thats like a house or car payment in some states! LOL.

I had T-Mobile before. Cricket has some really good prices and used At&t's network.

Finally my quest with Verizon is over. I've officially ported over all my lines to Cricket Wireless who was purchased by AT&T sometime this past June and now uses AT&T towers.
My service believe it or not at my house it stronger than I had with Verizon. I get 5 full bars with Cricket as with Verizon I'd get 2 to 3 bars.
My 4G lte with Cricket Wireless is throttled to only 8mbps up and down. When I run a speed test it hits over 15mbps then quickly their throttling down kicks in and puts me at 8mbps. Verizon I only got around 13-18mbps.
I'm using Cloudy's Flex rom and everything works, data, text, mms with Cricket. Once you activate your service, Cricket send you an update text to your G2, where it automatically puts in your APN and MMS settings. Pin unlock code is 1111.
I now save over $100 a month on service. I'm on the 2.5gb data, unlimited text, voice plan for $50, each second line is $40 for same plan.
I'm in the Orange County, CA area, so here its good service miraculous. lol

Really?!?! That is odd... My personal phone is a Nexus 4 on Cricket, and my work phone is a G2 on Verizon... I have put my Cricket SIM in my G2 a few times and it works, flawlessly, although I have never gotten LTE, always HSPA+. I was always under the impression that the VS980 did not support the proper frequencies for AT&T's LTE network.
Could it be you live in area where AT&T has multiple bands of LTE and there is some overlap into the Verizon frequencies? Verizon typically uses 700Mhz Block C LTE in most areas of the country, and AT&T does have some 700 Mhz Block B&C in some (very limited) areas.
It may be the ROM. When I get my sims card for the new phone I'll know more.

Make sure you port your number right away as they can't port your number after you've activated a sim. They'll try to charge you again for a new line to port in your number as I wanted to test the service first. This happened to me. Ports can only be done at activation.

Carrier-unlocked 4XL facing T-Mobile sunset of Sprint 4G

Got a phone call from T-Mobile saying that the Pixel 4XL I activated last year will not work when T-Mobile repurposes Sprint's 4G bands. I can't believe this: this is a carrier-unlocked phone I got on eBay; I would have been able to activate it on T-Mobile just as well as I did on Sprint. The guy from T-Mobile swore that the phone will not work when they do the cutover. Is this really true?
I also have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet that the T-Mobile guy says will work fine after the switch if I just swap the SIM for a T-Mobile one; he said this was possible because the tablet does not need to do VoLTE. Could a SIM swap let me continue using my Pixel?
I really like this phone. I've seen people complain about the phone's big forehead. For me, that's a non-issue. I love Soli's ability to wake up the display when it detects motion. I'd like to hold off on another round of researching what phone has features I want--features which include the ability to unlock the boot loader. I'm in no hurry to get 5G.
Hi!
I wrote a post on how to get any SIM work with any Pixel, independent of the carrier.
I am still looking on how to unlock the bootloader.
I think I am close to get it working, however I need to test my theory yet. Here is a thread of a guy that has a similar issue, and I told him how to use SIM on his Pixel and shared my progress about unlocking the bootloader on this kind of devices.
Hope this helps you!
I moved my (unlocked, purchased from Google) 4XL from Sprint to TMo, and have heard nothing from TMo. One of the reasons I bought the 4XL was because it had coverage of all of the TMo bands (at the time). I think you're getting bad info. I think the guy at the store needs to sell more phones to make his quota.
On the TMo web site, go to the 'bring your own phone' page under Phones&Devices. Enter the IMEI and it will tell you what you need to know. This is what mine said:

That was a nice suggestion to try the bring-your-own-device page. I got those same happy fully-compatible/not-blocked messages as @batteryguy got when I entered my IEMI. The woman at the T-Mobile store told me that she was surprised to see that result since the indication she had from her tools was that the phone would not be compatible.
Ah, but I got some insight when I asked about getting a T-Mobile SIM for the tablet. She said that the tablet also wasn't set to come over now to T-Mobile (as the guy on the phone had told me), but left it open that the transition would come later.
Soo--from what I can gather, everyone now on Sprint will be transferred fully to T-Mobile in the next months. When that happens, it looks like we can bring our compatible devices fully into happy land.
If I can make that transition without picking up T-Mobile's bloatware, that will be a big win.
We made the move from Sprint to TMo 6-8 months ago. Even though my wife is a Sprint retiree and got a special rate on Sprint, we ended up paying less on TMo than we were paying for Sprint. It's great paying a flat $35/month for unlimited everything, without all the added fees Sprint added on top of your plan. Plus, when we go overseas, we can buy a cheap SIM and pop it into my 4XL. Don't let TMo sell you a SIM, ask them to activate the internal eSIM and it will leave the SIM slot open.
Coverage is MUCH better, both in town and on the road. She got a 5G phone (Sansung A71 5G) for 'free', and it's a nice phone. Unfortunately, 5G has been worthless for her so far. It's seldom faster than 4G, and often slower.
There is no bloatware unless you want it and install it yourself. TMo has the usual account management apps plus the T-Mobile Tuesday app. I'm sure there are others, but I've not needed any of them.
I wouldn't wait. Go ahead and make the move now.
We have also been getting these notices from Sprint. Unfortunately, my mom dead dropped her phone this week. She went to the store (*parents) to activate her Note and was denied, told she will have to "upgrade." They're already not activating anything not 5g capable.
But my xt1766 is gsm/cdma/4g so if true, and it stops working in March of 2022 they are in fact going to lose a huge market of consumers.
I will just find a new carrier. I love my old phone and have no issues whatsoever with it. I don't care that they're offering some low level credits for a new model. $200 and below it seems. These new products are glitchy, break easily, and most importantly the mining and production is still destroying the environment. I shouldn't have to replace a new phone, screen protector, case, cord etc just because these 3 companies have monopoly in this dumb reality. This is a prime example of how broken the capitalist system is. Sprint/T-Mobile can suck it.
Anyone know who will take my money? I'm off to continue imei checking...
