Hi all,
I have a Sony Xperia Z3 compact under stock Lollipop 5.0.2. No root or custom has been ever installed.
My phone has been under Lollipop for a while, and suddenly a weird bug appeared for no apparent reason. At the Android starts everything works seamlessly during the first 15seconds, then the screen automatically locks 2s
I have tried to:
- disable the feature "double tap to unlock"
- put airplane mode
- leave Android on the SIM pin screen
- start with no SIM card
- turn off the phone during a day, try the next day
As you can imagine this is a annoying bug, and I think this rather OS than hardware related.
Any idea on how to solve that?
Have you tried to factory reset your phone? I think this is a software issue. Or a faulty power button

Hi guys,
I recently got my Xperia Z back from repair. I had it in because when I pressed the power button to unlock it, sometimes the screen would stay black and I wouldn't be able to see anything, but I could still use the touchscreen.
So I got my phone back with a new LCD screen and it's been a week now and it hasn't had that problem at all, but I'm having another problem.
My phone is randomly controlling itself. When I unlock it, every once and a while it starts pressing all the buttons on the screen. Opening up the task manager, swiping left and right, opening up the camera, etc. Just going completely haywire.
So to fix it, I tried a factory reset, but that didn't work. Then I got a new update for android, and for about a day it worked perfectly but now it's back at it again and controlling itself, pressing all the buttons etc. I had an alarm set this morning and I couldn't even turn it off because of it.
It's completely stock, I haven't even tried flashing or rooting or anything like that, and I'm running Android 4.4.4. Model number is C6603.
Anyone know what could be causing the problem?

there is some issue with touch calibration or some issue with the digitizer.

Well it happens before I even touch anything on the screen, so would that point to the problem being the digitizer?
Hi
i need some help about my Sony Xperia Z C6603
I've this phone from 31/12/2014. Updated to last version and it work fine, but from the day before yesterday he start to crazy. I'll try to explain the best i can because i tried a lot of things:
1 - no water no fall down , the phone is perfect
2 - i've been in hidden menu (service menu) making tests but everythings is ok.. the only one test missing is the one i need!!!
3 - last software/firmware update was did some day before the problem
what happen:
randomly the power button doesn't work.. so when the mobile is in standby mode i'm not able to turn it on, but the mobile is powered on... if someone call me or i put it in charge, the mobile turn on. the same thing happen when i'm using it, so i cannot put it in standby mode. I repeat...RANDOMLY... sometimes he works great!
i was thinking about the battery but is not the problem because i've tested in the service menu.
when the power button doesn't work, if i push the power button with the volume switch.. the mobile start the reset mode, so this is not an hardware problem.
but is it possible that it is a software problem? No one have my same problem...i've try to reset to factory default from mobile and from pc companion but i've always the same problem.
i have to send it back to sony but i have to go for two months in denmark for work so i cannot wait 15 days because i will be not here when they will send me back the phone.
i'm sure that the problem is software based that's the why i write this post.
thank you
Alessandro
I have seen multiple other people experiencing this issue on reddit and here on XDA too. What happens is that when I attempt to unlock, there's no icon at the bottom-center of the lockscreen. Sometimes there will be one with an unlocked lock icon, but I'm incapable of swiping to the key-guard or using my fingerprint to unlock the device. During this, the home button has feedback by vibration but nothing happens. A bit later it'll act as if it's catching up and will then unlock automatically. Other times if I push the power button after trying to unlock nothing will happen until after this delay in which would unlock the device (after trying to fingerprint unlock) and then suddenly it acts like I had pressed the power button.
I've tried removing and re-adding the fingerprints. I'd really rather not have to factory reset to see if this fixes the issue. I'm on completely stock rom, not rooted, etc. Completely vanilla.
Any ideas?
Running into the very same issue. Additionally sometimes at the end of phone calls the dialer becomes unresponsive and cannot hit the hang up button. Then the system seems to catch up...
Any help or ideas appreciated.
Phone completely stock, had no similar issues since I purchased it 6 months ago..

Update : Read in a forum that pocket mode may be the culprit. I disabled it under Settings / Advanced. The screen lock issue seems to have disappeared. The dialer issue is also not there any more.
Hope this helps...

This happen even when i have a call, when i put phone to my ear the phone app goes background!.
what i did:
1. tried everything might do that in setting
2. reset all application from application manager
3. erased TouchWiz data
4. restart
5. removed fingerprint lockscreen
more: my device is rooted and have application that manage touchwiz and kernel which i did not use recently.
i googled for this problem did not find any solution

Solved:
After removing Firefds and XtouchWiz from exposed the problem gone.
I had them few months ago didnt used them recently. Tried to modify setting through them but problem still. So I removed them and now every thing OK.
HI
Just for your information, I had the same problem with my Samsung A40 phone, after 2 days of awful investigation I found out that enabling ONE HANDED MODE had caused this issue. Turn it off, everything goes back to normal
Hi guys
Just a quick one. Got a strange issue with the screen on my note 8 and just seeing if anyone has had the same issue or any idea on a fix.
Last week updated to the 9.0 beta and all seemed to be going well with no notable issues just a bit of lag here and there. However last night I turned my phone off and when I came to turn it back on this morning it started to boot as normal I entered my password successfully and it started to boot. As soon as the password registered and the unlocking pad lock appears it quickly shifts to the bottom right hand corner instead of the centre as normal. The phone continues to boot and from then on the screen just goes black and is unresponsive. The handset is on cause people can still ring, notifications still get received and all the hardware buttons make noise as if they are working. The screen will just not turn on. If I try doing a soft reboot with the power and volume down I can start the phone and the Samsung logo comes up as normal and the pin screen as normal but as soon as I enter my pin the same issue happens. If I hold the power button on its own to turn off the phone the multi menu (reboot, power off, emergency) all briefly appear but are enlarged and sitting on the right of the screen.
Any ideas guys, cheers.
Try reinstalling Oreo back onto it. It could be an issue with the Beta Version of Pie that you installed on your device.
The beta software is intended for this very purpose, you found a problem, then you report it to the releaser to be fixed, the creators of the software are the ones that will evaluate and improve the software, you see, it did not work for you, just try to reinstall it, if the issue persists, provide feedback to samsung, and flash a stable firmware
Possibly this bug Pie Beta + Secure Startup + WQHD = Black Screen?
It happened to me too. I installed over my existing UAE firmware with Indian one then the one ui update. After reboot got the same blank screen issue. I then did a factory reset and everything is back to normal for the last couple of days with improved battery life probably due to the reason that many region specific Samsung app like Samsung pay doesn't work.
So had a bit more of a play when I got chance and I managed to resolve the issue. Still being hit with the same problems for some reason I tried unlocking the phone again but sideways (don't ask not sure why) and the screen unlocked. From then on phone worked completely normal until next reboot. Same thing every time until I hold phone on its side and unlock with the fingerprint reader.
I've since reverted back to 8.0 and sent feedback over. I'm gonna try testing again weekend see if I have same luck.
Cheers for the replies guys, hope anyone else has this issue the comes across this.
you must disable secure start up
I had the same issue after updating to beta 1 with secure boot enabled. I wiped the phone and it started as it should, since I couldn't unlock the phone even with fingerprint. I noticed that the screen was only showing for few seconds the 1/4 of the image (unlock sim with PIN).
