Hi fellow flash addicts and esteemed developers I have a problem and I am one of those if I do ask help for a problem it is a PROBLEM I have tried everything this is just to see if something has been left out and any help is appreciated.
I have a galaxy s which has been lying around, the main fault with this which is hindering progress is that it has a faulty usb port, it can charge but no connection to computer my guess is as I got it used the port has been changed.
The Good
1. it has recovery
2. boots up to logo
The Bad
1. broken usb port (damn it)
2.
Updating partition details...
E: Unable to mount '/data'
E: Unable to mount '/system'
Those messages come up when i try to flash.
As the port is broken the only way is to somehow repair this through recovery if this is possible.
Currently running Mackay Recovery v2.4.4.0
Right geniuses and geeks thanks in advance, even if you just read up to title
Hi,
I'm running Cyanogenmod Nightlies on my rooted I9305, but for some reason the device is stuck at boot (Since I woke up, only booting until the samsung logo).
I wasn't flashing a rom, so I don't think Cyanogenmod has anything to do with this.
However, I did install "Hide My Root" not that long ago (I was trying to bypass the rooted-protection from my ISP to watch television; it did not work though).
I was able to boot in recovery (ClockWorkMod v6.0.4.5) and performed a wipe data and wipe cache, but problem remains.
I wanted to do a restore, but found out there wasn't a backup on my external SD card (sdcard1).
Installing a new nightly ends up with this error: set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed. E: Error in /storage/sdcard1/cm-11-20140122-NIGHTLY-i9305.zip (Status 7) Installation aborted.
I did install ODIN, so maybe this could be a way to solve this.
I wanted to check if there was a backup on my internal memory (sdcard), but then I saw I was getting all kind of errors:
When starting Recovery:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
When trying to restore from internal memory (sdcard):
E: Can't mount /sdcard
What can I do to fix this problem, considering I'm not sure I still have a backup (I know, rookie mistake!)?
No one knows what to do?
I will wait 24h

Rules we have to wait twenty four hours before replying to you .
So... anyone who knows how to fix this, or who can point me in the right direction? :fingers-crossed:
Possibly wiping cache in recovery will remove those errors shown in recovery but that will not resolve the bootloop. Have you tried a full wipe as there may be something corrupt in the data partition causing the bootloop
I see I forgot to mention it, but I already tried that (cache, dalvik and data). But to no avail.
When I tried to wipe dalvik cache, not much happened.
When wiping cache partition, I'm getting this error: Fomatting /cache | E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 | Cache wipe completed.
I also found the PIT file, and downloaded the stock ROM from Sammobile, but running ODIN failed.
Okay, seems like nobody knows the answer... guess I'll have to ship it to Samsung for repair.
Does anyone know a way to remove the "times I flashed a ROM"?
Triangle Away won't work, since I'm not able to boot properly...

Put in download mode then flash a stock rom over it...
@Raistlin1158: In the meantime I already tried to do that, but flashing (anything) with ODIN end up with a "FAIL".
Any clue what might be the problem?
Update your Odin, Also can you do a factory reset ?
@Raistlin1158: I've tried ODIN 3.07 and 3.09, both fail.
I am able to boot in recovery, and I performed a factory reset, but it didn't change anything.
Can you help? Please

Nice necrobump.
You haven't even told anyone what you need help with nor what your situation is.
so after using the windroid tool kit (which im starting to think i really shouldn't of....) after installing TWRP the watch will only boot into recovery mode and fastboot mode...... so i was tring to find out whats going on, and the first thing i notice is that all my storage shows 0mb, checked the logs, it all shows
E:unable to mount '/data'
E: unable to mount ''cache'
E: unable to mount storage.
is there any way i can fix this? or did i break it for good?
i have the same problem, it's driving me crazy....i hope we didn't brick

took a little while to fix it
But follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2984678
Hello!
I was going to clear the cache partition (ROM was acting strange) one night (night before New Year's 2017 of all the times) when these errors came up:
Code:
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_install
Attempting to mount /cache fails with this error:
Code:
E: Error mounting cache!
I did find a thread showing this exact phenomenon: https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/android-one-general/bricked-phone-cache-img-canvas-a1-t3307290
However, it's not helping me too much since the main solution there is using SP Flash Tool; it is (to my knowledge) a Windows-only tool, but I don't have a Windows install on any of my computers (all Linux units). Are there any alternate methods to resolving this issue?
EDIT: Originally intended to be a Q&A thread, but I forgot to check the box for it;oh well!
Same problem, not able to flash any ROM, clear any partition, or reboot.
As for SP flash tool, it hard bricked my friend's phone ( wiped everything but didn't download...
Searched many threads for this , but no solution..
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A backup might be able to solve the issue. That won't work for me though since I had previously deleted mine due to a prior SD card failure.
I stopped using my ASUS tablet a couple of years ago when internal memory started giving me trouble, but recently I started messing around with it again to see if I could get it working again. It appears that all partitions have no free space so that i cannot install a custom rom, fix anything, or really do anything. If I go to fastboot and try to force install a new recovery or new rom or anything it looks like it works but it really doesn't. if I try to boot, I just go in a boot loop.
I got twrp to boot(can't get it to install) and it tells me when I try to fix the partitions that they have 0 space?
Anyone have a tool or know the steps to delete and recreate ALL the partitions for the TF701t(K00C)? Any help would be appreciated.
I've tried twrp fix partitions, I've tried it's resizing as well. I've tried to install a stock rom, hoping it would rewrite them. nothing works.
Worse case is it possible to convince the tablet to just use an SD card as the internal storage and not use the emmc at all?

I've seen a few posts with this issue, but not much in the way of resolutions.
