Hi guys! I'm new here in this forums and I'm buying my new SGS+ in a couple of weeks. I can see there aren't that many ROMS and custom firmwares, but the ones that exist are very good! I want to know if the official ROMS are fast and good for everyday usage, gaming and listening to music. I know that the custom ROMs like Cranium and BroodRom are super fast, but I always prefer official firmware. Please express your opinion and give me a suggestion. I have experience with flashing a SGS+, so it's not a problem for me.
Well, these custom ROMs are in fact just modded stock ROMs. So you can get some added AOSP apps and removed bloatware. CM development is really difficult as some devs already bricked their phones.
I personally wouldn't buy it again.
It's a quite decent phone but nothing special imo.

I know they're just soft-mods, but people say they're faster than official ROMs, because they contain some tweaks.
Yes, thats right. If you have some knowledge you could also tweak the stock ROM yourself as you like it. (Apart from things like CWM recovery etc.)
If you don't need all those Samsung bloatware then you could flash one of the ROMs you like.

Thank you all for your opinions! I had a very positive experience with one of your ROMs, so I think I will go for BroodROM.
BroodROM RC2 with the Cranium Kernel v6 1900MHz
That way you can overclock as you wish with the "no frills cpu control" app and set governors + i/o scheduler.
At least thats what i have on my SGS+ and i'm very happy with it
here's a benchmark screenshot of mine

Hi Senior Member xCi, this is my first Time, and i think i should be needing a help. i have already bought my samsung sgs+ a couple of weeks ago. and after that i've playin games , browsing , used my phoneetc. i've seen that sgs+ still slow on cpu, gpu and when i play hd games its getting hot in a 30 minutes after. but not like the old samsung galaxy s i9000 which is very slow and very hot when i play games like nfs shift. so i figured out that i wanted to upgrade/update it but there's no officially released update for sgs+ in my software update (Over In The Air) and in kies. but didnt do something and after that i've been thinking and began searching xda developers. and saw many development were created such as the tweaks (awesome), custom roms ( like Cranium Rc9 I've Watched It on Youtube/ BroodRom Here) i was really inspired and been thinking if i can do it alone (im so scared besides this my first time) so i can update my phone into more poweful tweaks like cranium rc9 or BroodRom and other tweaks mods for my sgs+. im starting and im a begginer and i really need help, sorry if im being noob or kinda stupid (〒︿〒) i was really confused when i was reading this post by Artem Russakovskii http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...d-phone-with-rom-manager-full-backup-restore/ he says that other customs roms have different installing procedure. can i apply sakindia's cranium rc9 following the steps of Artem. Besides I've Already Done The Rooting Procedure At forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001 For My Samsung Galaxy S+ I9001. this is my first time but before i start doing something on my my phone i should ask someone like you who can give me a better advices and other tips in things like this.
-----------------------------------------------------------I Was Hoping I Can Find a Better & Clear Instruction's Installing Cranium Rc9 + Rc9 Kernel OR BroodRom + Cranium Kernel v6 1900MHz for my SGS+ I9001 From You DEVs! Out There . because my phone still lags and very hot when i played HD games and sometimes slow on menu when i quit some hd games. Hello Stefan,
I'm changing ROMs quiet often. Right now I'm on your Hybrid Revolution.
I like it very much - thanks for that.
Now my problem: My Phone is pissed when I use a Kernel witch comes with overclocking. If there is An 'OC' somewhere inside
the kernel's name, my phone gets stuck at the first boot logo.
Now I use temasek's kernel, wich is also fanstastic. But I really like to try yours.
Is it possible to create a 'STOCK' SymbiOsis? Whould be great.
Thanks for your great work.
PS - I still love my O2x.

Hi!
Have you already tried symbi0sis? My kernels have a special patch which restricts cpu speed completely to 1,0 GHz if not overclocked. Other OC kernels have cpu speed "leaks" and peek the maximum speeds for a short time when second core is activated,
Please try the HOC version of symbi0sis (not UHOC)

Hello,
thanks for your reply.
Yes, I tried them all. I can even not boot Your gueste Hybrid revolution with the standart kernel, I have to exchange it first.
I just saw that there is a new GUESTE2X STOCK "GoodBye" Rom. I will try this as soon as possible.
Thank you for something new to play with.

Hello, first of all sorry for my English. And now to the point, when I was using stock rom I had no random crashes and freezes. But the stock rom was like made of wood. There were no customizations ant mostly important volume music controls. So I tried many custom roms. All of them where instable for some reason. I was having about 10 crashes and freezes per day, really annoying. I was trying to find solution in Google, there were no helpful answer... So I was changing roms over and over, was trying to find stable one. No success, then I realized that most of them use same kernel (I think it’s squadzone's). So then I thought that maybe if I find somewhere a different kernel it could be fixed. And wola, [Overclock kernel 806 mhz Galaxy Mini] fixed all my problems. Now I run my galaxy on 806 mhz and there are no stability issues any more (most of the roms works with it, but for now I am using cyanogen mod 7.2). I am not sure does someone else has this problem, but if someone really does, try this kernel. And I want to ask developers maybe they could find what is wrong with those other kernels? (It took me about a year to find solution, I don’t want that someone else suffer this :laugh
P.S I found that Cyaogenmod 7.1 kernel is stable for me too, but it has no good OC feature.

wanted to suggest you to put [SOLUTION] tag in the start instead of in the end
who created this kernel anyways?? cause it's not squadzone's work...

I don't know, found it accidentally.
did you always tried to overclock your SGM on every custom rom you have used?
You think I wouldn’t have thought about this?? Of course I tried to decrease clocks, I tried everything.
make a backup of your Boot.img to flashable zip before try something like that.
Sent from my GT-S5570
If you over clocking it too much yours processor can't handle that. Every phone have his stability zone.
Hello!
I have an Xperia T that I'm fond of. I've been wanting to add a custom rom for a while, and recently spent a couple of nights (it's all very new to me!) trying, and finally succeeding, in installing Cyanogenmod 10.1.3. I went with CM as from the research I did it seemed to be the most stable.
I noticed that you can't overclock the CM kernel. I guess my question is twofold: is there a kernel that can be used in conjunction with 10.1.3 that can be overclocked? And if not, do you have suggestions of roms/kernels that work well together, or should I just leave CM 10.1.3 on there?
Thanks for reading.
you want a suggestion? no need to overclock that phone.
there is no overclocking kernel in cm, as far as i know. i think this is an already some times asked question in posts around cm threads...
Thanks for getting back to me! With that in mind, would you recommend CM 10.1.3 over another rom/overcooked kernel combination? I guess I'm just trying to discover what will give me the best performance on the LT30p.

Best answer I can give: It depends.
Other than that, it's not allowed to start some discussions like best/worst ROM, cause usually they are made for different needs.
Get an oversight of some ROMs (not all available for the i9305).
I can tell you my experience and OmniROM was a rock solid ROM for me with Android 4.4.4, not that feature rich. But you can add features with Xposed framework up to KitKat. On Lollipop you cannot use Xposed yet. Also, the Lollipop ROMs are not stable yet imo. Nevertheless I use the Nameless ROM 2.0, which is working not bad, having some battery issues, but no other probs. However, it's not a reliable daily driver yet, therefore it's beta.

Honestly, for me needs Omni ROM was fast and smooth enough for me. I did not use a custom kernel. You can boost some transitions within the launcher app (depends on the app, Apex, Nova Go Launcher Ex should do) or in the developer options (window animation scale, transition animation scale and animator duration scale), disable animations or you can lower the speed, what usually leads to a more fluid experience.
With kernel settings apps like Trickster Mod, Kernel Tuner or Kernel Tweaker you can improve your experience with the standard kernel even more - without overclocking. Check their Q&A or FAQ, helped me. You need root access to your device to change kernel settings. Flash SuperSU if not done already.
Hello, I have been trying to flash for 2 days now but still couldn't get it working.
Initially, my I9305 is running on stock without root. I wanted to root it and then install recovery and ROM.
And so I prepare the necessary files, and start to flash.
I used CF-Auto-Root to root my device first, then got Resurrection ROM and Gapps to flash.
Then I started to get some issue, as it always fail. Error message like no file context and so on. So I read online resources, and found out that I had a older version of TWRP installed which may cause the install.
I then tried to upgrade TWRP but it doesn't allow me to. No choice, I had to flash philz touch, and I did.
I then tried to flash Resurrection again, boot up, and it keep giving me bootloop. After which I downloaded nameless ROM, and CM11 but same issue.
Yesterday night, I downloaded the stock firmware to try. I flashed it, and it is successful based on ODIN, but it still won't boot up.
I just tried it again and it stuck on the Samsung logo screen.
Can anyone tell me what else to do? What I have to do?
This is the stock firmware that I have downloaded and flash - I9305XXUENH1_I9305EVRENH1_EVR.
Let me know what other information I have to provide.
Thanks!
Good work thanks
Volume increase
Hi guys,
I am trying to increase the volume on my phone and spent already hours on the Internet to find out how to do it. I have rooted my phone using CM auto root, installed superSU and ES File Explorer. I was trying to follow instructions to go to system files using this program and edit Snd_Soc_mSm or sound folder but it just doesnt appear on my phone? I was wondering if there is something I can do about or maybe I missed something, I really have no clue.
My phone parameters:
Samsung S3 i9305
Android 4.3
Baseband I9305XUENG1
Kernel 3.0.31-2051278
Build JSS15J.I9305XXUENH1
I would be really gratefull for any help or instructions.
Thanks
@LeoDeos did you check the fb issue?
Japanese S3
Any good news about Japanese variant of S3?
I try to compile but have error at the very beginning.
dear xda members.
I'm moving (as probably many already had) from i9000 to i9305 looking for decent audio experience.
To achieve that I need to find a perfect match between recovery, rom and kernel.
I've gone through the linked index topic as well as tens of other customization-related ones, but still have some basic questions.
Generally it's about the proper Boeffla sound-oriented kernel selection.
I've noted only one or few compilations of Boeffla kernel for i9305 so I give it up on the beginning.
Seems that AGNi is the only resort. But here come the doubts.
how to properly match the kernels from AGNi pureCM and PUREstock list base on information available in MAjor Custom Rom comparison database
If custom ROM is based on AOSP (as the stock rom is - see the table, row 7), does this mean I should go for PUREstock kernel? For example for OMNIrom 4.4.4 should I select pureSTOCK v5.9.3? If my understanding is correct for PACman rom (based on CM) I should go for pureCM kernel.
OR
pureSTOCK kernels are reserved for Samsung roms, and the custom ones should be paired with pureCM kernels?

I can truely recommend the "combination" you see in my signature block.

Now I'm using Bliss Pop some weeks ago. This is a great ROM, but one problem is the USB charging. If i use the radio in my car to charge the phone, its just slow down the discharge. So no up charging.
If I flash the agni kernel, to let me charging rates changeable, the phone is randomly freeze, or not wake up and screen is leave blank.
But this rom is the best for me, just this charging problems make me nervous.

Great to hear that you're happy with Bliss Pop. I personally found the right ROM for me and my device, too.
I'm also extremely happy with AGNi v4.5.5, especially as AGNi offers so many and easy to handle settings' possibilities and such a large variety of governors. In the past, I also experienced a few situations with random freezes, black screens etc.
I solved these issues in two ways:
First by playing with different governors, governor and GPU settings, touchboost, touch wake etc. etc. It took me quite a while till I found my current combination of settings, with which my devices now perfectly runs.
It's a pity but I eventually realise that I'd to de-install Xposed and the one and only Xposed module I ran, XPrivacy.
Since I did both above, my SGS3LTE is running so smoothly and really without any problems.
Did you already played a bit with other kernel settings than charging rates?
