Am I the only one having this minor to some but major to me lag issue on the note 4 with TouchWiz lollipop Roms. I tried 4 different Roms 5.0 and 5.1 and I notice crazy lag when swiping screens on any downloaded launcher. the home screen scrolls smooth on the stock TouchWiz but I tried a lot of downloaded launchers they all lag bad. But when I Odin back to 4.4 Roms there smooth like how this phone should run giving the specs. Its just that I love the beauty of lollipop but hate the lag. I know I can't be the only one that noticed this
Are you rooted? If so what version of super su are you on??
Have you considered a custom kernel?? Im running COD6 with emotion kern v14 and there is no lag.. i know it looks obvious that you are rooted but theres a reason im asking you your su version.[emoji16]

my phone has many lags in scrolling pages in most of launchers .
hove can i solve this ?
There are several threads on this.
If your Note is not Rooted, then you would be best getting Root access and disabling or removing much of the stock bloatware. It will kill performance and battery.
You could also, or alternatively, flash a different kernel. If doing that, you may as well go for Root access as well IMO.
I also had some annoying lags thoroughly the whole GUI.
All of them gone away since I flashed a custom Kernel, in my case it's Franco Kernel 9, imho it's the kernel that counts (or you have a f******-up-firmware ^^) .
Regarding lags I could not see/feel a difference between stock firmware and custom ROM (Darky ROM 3.3 final), together with franco kernel 9 the feel the same lag-wise .

Yup..i agree.. I hav tried almost all roms out there... All the ones till la6 werent so lagfree..But not now... U should try lc1 custom roms with frankos kernel... My browser is f****** fast... I m in love with my phone again...
Hint:try chracks rom and add francos new sources kernel or v9 kernel to it= pure awesomeness and almost zero lagss... My adw launcher and browser is so smooth now.. Try a kalagas theme to add more elegance to it.. And u are gonna hav a hell of a fast phone...) give it a try..highly recommended..
Remove the widgets nd see if the lag remains.....i was on go launcher nd now im bak to twizz.....the lag stopped when i removed some of the widgets...cant remember which ones though. Id start with a blank home page nd check 4 the lag one by one.....that is ofcourse if u dont want to root
help me to chose a good rom please

You should try all the new lc1 roms for your self and try them out.. Try the new lc1 roms.. Like chracks,checkrom,kingdroid,cassies...
Wait for official ICS and the lag should be gone.

If you're not keen on rooting, go to task manager and clear RAM on regular basis to stop several running apps. Sometimes low available RAM slows system. Also, reduce amount of widgets you're using as poster mentioned above.

Hi,
Just picked up a GT8.9.
Wondering from others who have tried some of the community ICS roms whether it's worth the update now.
I've been running ICS on a touchpad for last couple months but frankly got weary of changing roms all the time and the idiosyncrasies that come along with it.
Assuming I dont care about the camera, are the ICS roms for the 8.9 solid and smooth?
Opinions requested.
Thanks,
TR
They work well, but no they arent smooth. Possibly its a permanent issue because of the Tegra, but we wont know until Samsung releases an official ROM.
I'm running the Cyanogen Morocco and its veelry smooth and fast after changing from Go Launcher back to Apex launcher. I'm very satisfied.
Absolutely worth it.
The difference is huge as far as smoothness is concerned, even in landscape mode (black sheep of tegra2) the transitions are fine.
I'm running the AOKP ICS port, with [email protected], slight UV (-25mV) and interactive governor, and after two weeks of Honeycomb I feel relieved.
I bet the CM9/AOSP ports are decent too, basicly anything is better then the stock 3.1
is it ok to install overcome rom without rooting my tab? I've been using all its stock features and I also want to try some roms because I think it would be more faster than the samsung stock rom, I don't want to root it because of the warranty,
Can I go back to my stock rom with the csc from my region because I don't know where to download stock rom (for Philippines(XTC) ) for galaxy tab 8.9
I do wonder what people consider 'smooth'. None of the ROMs are smooth as i would describe it, even in portrait. They all have slight hesitation or micro stuttering, none are truly fluid.

Again, I don't know about yours, but mine is totally smooth. Zero stuttering or lagginess. Where, exactly, is the stuttering occuring? In the launcher?

Are you saying your launcher is smooth with stock rom when you hold your tablet in landscape?

No. As mentioned, it is running the Cyanogen Mod9. But, even with the stock rom, it was much smoother than my previous Transformer. And landscape is all I ever use.
Cyanogen Morocco

I just rooted a friend's phone and was wondering what would you recommend me. He doesn't know how to change ROMs so I am looking for something rock stable, close to stock, nothing fancy, just something that works without any problems.
It depends on what type of experience you want. Are you looking to alleviate some of the issues that plagued the stock ROM with its poor I/O response time? What is your reason for replacing stock if you want something similar to stock?
CM7 or CM10 are both good ROMs; CM7 significantly improves the performance over stock, it has the same UI as Eclair/Froyo/Gingerbread and it had extra (useful) features.
CM10 is out of alpha now (I think) and provides the latest Android experience, similar to what you would get on a new phone. ICS/JB was a significant redesign over the ROM that was stock for SGS.
I'm not satisfied with CM ROMs, I ran them on both my HTC Desire and Nexus S and they didn't feel smooth. I want something stock with basic root settings.
The reason he wanted a custom ROM was because his phone was heating much and rebooted.
I would say Slim ICS with the setup on my sig.. first ICS rom ive been using after GB and just loving it, VERY stable and smooth, Only downside that pop ups on my mindd right now is you cant record 720p video if you want more RAM with the bigmem patch enabled.. BUT thats only IF you want it enabled

Hi my galaxy note runs ICS 4.0.4 very smoothly as stock and rooted.
But ever since ive started trying jelly bean roms (ive tried 4 different ones) they all seem to be very laggy / slow.
Ive done full wipes of my phone and running the correct kernels with each rom.
Ive wiped cache, delvik cache and factory data wipe in clockwork mod. Also formated internal memory also
But it just seem s to be very slow even when ive set the min CPU speed at 1400mhz and the max CPU speed at 1400mhz also,
Say ive watched a video on youtube of someone demonstrating the rom to show how smooth it is extra it looks very good. But as soon as ive installed the same rom and the same kernel my performance of the rom is terrible.#
Im hopeing theres a simple fix to this but if nt ill stick to my stock ICS Rom which is rooted as its very smooth before I started using JB Roms and still ever so smooth After returning to stock rom.
If any one could help that would be ace
Cheers
Dean
Performance is always subjected to subjective perception. I also tried the JB leaks and now I am back to ICS. From my point of view the current ICS roms are fare smoother than the JB leaks. You will realize this best the very moment you return to ICS after you used one of the JB leaks. The phone just reacts faster, scrolling is faster, apps start with less delay... But I am confident that the final version of JB for the Note will be just as smooth as ICS when it is finally released.

Mate your reply has literally hit the nail onbthe head.
Ill just wait for the official release and have a look at that one. Even if its slow and laggy ill revert back to ics until i can upgrade.
Have you had any experience in custom ics roms which you would recomend me trying.

Well there is only 1 ATT based rom to choose from and 2 ports on the 5.0 right now. I am running TMS5 v2.1 and love it. I get great battery life (depending if i'm playing games on the phone or not). IMO alliance and Twi5ted are a little buggie. I've ran both and am in no means putting them down cause they both are great but i guess because they are ported to the ATT phone you will run into problems here and there with them. Here's a link to TMS v2.0. To get the v2.1 you'll just have to ask someone which page it is on because it was never put in the OP cause its not a full rom, just an update.
