[Q] Help installing Cyanogenmod 12 XT1058 - Moto X Q&A

Hello everyone, first of all i would like to start by saying im very new to custom roms, rotting etc, so be patient with me please hehe.
Alright, so i tried to install cyanogenmod 12 with the installer, but appearently the moto x xt1058 isn't supported, if this is wrong i would like somebody to correct me please.
So I would like to know if somebody could give me a very detailed explanation on how to install cyanogenmod 12 on the moto x (1st gen), or if you know of a guide or video, i have seen many, but most already seem to involve some type of knowledge aobut the topic, so I just didn't understand.
Anyways thanks for taking the time to read and thanks in advanced
Also sorry if this is on the wrong place I'm also new to xda hehe.

First of all unlock your boot loader Motorola has a guide, google it. Next step download a recovery like TWRP and flash it via fastboot flash recovery <path to recovery>. Then download CM12 for ghost. Do a full wipe in recovery and install CM12. If it goes in a bootloop ie not booting for over 15 minutes or doesn't flash do a full wipe and install CM11 let it boot and then go back into recovery and flash cm12. Hope this helps

[Q] Stuck in fastboot in bootloader! cant get to system or recovey! HELP! URGENT!

Hi ,this is very upsetting for me because I just got the HTC One today and I already managed to mess it up. First I unlocked the bootloader then I rooted it then I got s-off then they try to install this ROM: android revolution HD. So I went thru the installation prosses. And did a wipe dalvic cach. And tried to boot it, but instead it took me to the bootloader! I tryed to reboot.. but again bootloader. And within that it puts me in fastboot. I can't get into twrp recovery or boot to system. I'm stuck. Please help!!!!!! (P.s. It just came in the mail today! My dad got it for me as a gift. He told me not to mess around with Roms... But I didn't listen.. so the fact that I bricked it I'm trying to hide till I hopefully find a way to fix it. So please help fast!!!!!!) Thanks
You could try to flash cwm recovery via fastboot.
First you need to have the cwm.img on your computer.
Then you need to set up fastboot (google it I cant remember it exactly).
Then open cmd and type this: \fastboot
This should get you: C:/fastboot (if it doesnt google it.. It is explained somewhere)
Then you flash the recovery img with this command: fastboot flash recovery nameofyourrecovery.img (make sure the recovery.img is on your C: drive.
Then the recovery is flashed you need to get back to the bootloader (if it doesnt boot automatically) with the command fastboot reboot bootloader. Then select recovery and boot into it. Flash your ROM and youre done!
Pm me if you neef more help.

[Q] Help: Can't get to recovery or system?!?!?

Hi, Gang... Please be patient as I'm not normally playing at this level...
I recently had a kid kill my TF700 so I bought at TF701 as a replacement. I immediately unlocked it, forgetting to take the latest Asus update OTA beforehand. Anyways, I manually downloaded v11.4..1.17 and put it on a blank microSD and stuck it into the tablet where the update was recognized as available and I set the update in motion... Something went sideways after I walked away to let the update run and now I can't get back into the system and I can't get into recovery.
I have the bootloader up (1.00e as released by 10.14.1.47) and I can communicate with the device via fastboot. Can someone help me wipe and get a recovery.img and/or a full stock image onto this thing. Right now it just keeps rebooting unless I manually force it to the bootloader.
I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable can chastise me for being a moron an point me in the right direction. Ultimately, I was tying to get to the latest ASUS ROM to the the bootloader that goes with it and then move onto a custom ROM.
Many thanx.
Im no help. Dont listen to me. Try using fastboot to run a recovery. "fastboot boot recovery.img" from the bootloader. Maybe with that old bootloader you should be using an old recovery maybe.
---------- Post added at 08:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:19 PM ----------
I wouldnt flash a recovery/bootloader especially the new ones til you can verify an older recovery works. Try booting this one https://www.dropbox.com/s/il2m4rtxlmzjfz9/recovery.img but dont flash til someone else takes a look at this. This is an old philz touch without touch.
Still nothing...

I'm really starting to get frustrated... (understatement)
I've got a copy of the 4.4.2 OTA image (zip and recovery.img). Should I not be able to use ADB to copy the image to the device and then boot the recovery.img? I can get the tablet to respond to fastboot but I can't get it to be recognized by ADB.
I've never had issues with custom ROMs before. This time I'm wading into unfamiliar waters. I'm note even sure how the initial update failed. Is there a way for me to update the bootloader, then add a CWM recovery, then load the ROM?
Again sorry to have to ask but any help would greatly be appreciated.

Where did you get the full firmware update you tried to flash?
I can't find a recovery that is compatible with that old bootloader, so your best bet would be to update via Asus firmware.
What happens if you choose RCK in the bootloader menu? Is the stock recovery still working?
What's your SKU?
If the manual stock update doesn't work you may have to flash the system blob in fastboot, but answer above questions first and then we'll see.
If you're getting frustrated, stop and come back to it later. Don't do anything desperate! No reason for it yet.

download this recovery(which is an older one compatable with that bootloader and try fastboot boot recovery.img from your older bootloader.
It should work. If you can determine that it works and all your partitions are intact. The command is" fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" I would think if you can simply get this one to boot it will be ok to flash and you should be able to flash whatever you want. Namely you will want to flash the new bootloader and recovery from the flashable zip that sbdags provides from his optimized asus stock.
If you have to adb sideload a rom from within the recovery. Then download just use the cm11 rom for now because the asus stock is over a gig and and might not sideload. the asus stock sbdags provides in this forum.
Otherwise you might be able to flash things from the microsd card.
Than if you decide to go the cm11 route. just download the asus stock from this forum from inside the rom. Be careful.

Managed to fastboot to the older recovery.img. As per instructions, I then flashed the latest bootloader and recovery from sbdags. I'm now good to go with whatever ROM I want. Many thanx! I'd still like to know how the upgrade to the latest Asus update screwed up. I wasn't watching it after setting the update in motion so it's a mystery. All I know is that the unit was plugged in so it wouldn't run out of juice and when I came back to check it, it wouldn't boot to Android, I couldn't get to recovery, and it would just keep rebooting in a loop.
Lucky for me it was unlocked and I had fastboot access to the (albeit out-of-date) bootloader.
All good now. Cheers.

Good to hear. For the Asus updates you just put them in /sdcard and reboot dont you? Its fairly automatic wasnt it? Then unlock after being updated? What went wrong in your case, Hard for me to say i guess because I and others unlocked at or before 4.3.

can you please help me with the step by step guide of flashing LG Watch urbane. I have downloaded from all the links you have given.

@pTeronaut From what I've read elsewhere on this forum, it seems that if the recovery is doing that after a flash, you should boot into the bootloader and you should be able to get into recovery through there.
Do you think that is possible to return to Android 5 from Android 6?
Do you known a site (official if possible) to download the Android 5 ROM?

Is there any possibilites to lock bootloader? I tryed fastboot oem lock but i`ve got: FAILED (command write failed (unknown error))
Got it to work. Just installed latest adb and rebooted the computer.
Do we have md5sum's for these?
So if I have v6 on my watch can I downgrade back to V5 so I can have root? for some reason I unlocked the bootloader, but I can't get TWRP or root on the watch since the last update. I'm familer with android but this is my first smartwatch.
Anyone still on these forums? I bought this watch off swappa and the guy had AW 2.0 installed on it. I wanted to unlock the bootloader and stuff so I did. Once the watch rebooted it is now stuck on the bootanimation. It's not bootlooping because it's not going back to the LG logo. It's just staying on the Android bootanimation. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is your bootloader unlocked?
Are you flashing recovery like this:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-1-victara.img
Then booting into recovery right away?
Yes my bootloader is unlocked and yes that's exactly how I flash it (except I named it recovery)
And yes, I boot into recovery right away via the bootloader options.

If you have the latest stock firmware files, try:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Only use TWRP or Cyanogen Recovery, they are the only ones supported.

Make sure you never downgrade the bootloader or partition table, so yes, use the latest Android 6.0 MarshMallow firmware, in case something gets corrupted and you need to reflash the partition table and/or bootloader, or even the full stock firmware, so you can start again.
Flashing SuperSU is always risky, and I've never done it; I only use CM's built-in Root Access.

I really don't know, as I only have the one phone, and don't want to take any risks with, I never looked into rooting, and never needed it anyway. But if I ever need the odd root access, CyanogenMod does it for me.
There are apps like King Root, which I've never used:

Ok, so I tried the Kingroot method and it took out my wifi and cellular network (doesn't turn on).
So I flashed the system files in the marshmallow and now my system doesn't boot. xD!
One question: is there any single marshmallow system zip file I could flash in one go to increase chances of resurrection? What's annoying is that I can't seem to get custom recovery working.
Thanks

Since we don't know for sure what's causing it not to boot, might as well flash the whole fimware, I think you can paste all the commands at once, or create a batch file in the firmware folder, flash.bat, shift+right-click, open command window here... type flash.bat
Or you can use RSD Lite
If/when you lose signal/data/wifi you can try flashing just the modems from stock:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn

Oneplus 3 decryption Ultimate guide

Ok guys, this is a sureshot guide for
PROBLEM
* anyone wanting to decrypt their op3 but stuck at 1+ boot screen(Or not able to boot any custom ROMs.) and only able to restore twrp backups
* After using fastboot format userdata twrp and about phone shows only 32gb phone memory(where the hell is my rest of 32gb )
* Fastboot format userdata resulting in Stuck at boot screen or simply an unbrick trick to return to Stock OOS in unencrypted stage
SOLUTION
1. Use method 2 of Mega unbrick guide to restore your phone to stock partitions found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-hard-bricked-t3405700
2. After the flashing is complete do not reboot the phone instead reboot directly into bootloader.
3. In fastboot mode flash modded twrp 3.0.2.22 using command ''fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'' found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=15934#downloads
4. Reboot directly into twrp and using mtp mode copy latest elemental x kernel or bluspark kernel zip for OOS and SYSTEM supersu.zip into the internal storage. System supersu.zip here OR directly proceed to step 8
https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.78-201609011115.zip
5. Now flash system supersu.zip and directly after that kernel.zip
6. Now again reboot to recovery directly and from twrp boot into system.
7. After boot up you system should be decrypted. You can check in security settings.
8.Reboot recovery and flash required firmware + modem zip found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/radio-modem-collection-flashable-zips-t3468628
9.wipe data +cache +dalvik +system
10. Flash any rom of your choice and go flashoholic, use multirom or whatever you want.
Pheww. Thanks.
Man, Finally the SystemRoot (V4A, MultiROM etc) as we discussed a couple of weeks back with this hassle at the Mega Unbrick and Decrypt guides threads...:highfive:

Yes you can but you will be encrypted again. so after msm method reboot fastboot and flash modded twrp. reboot recovery flash CB or OOS. flash supersu flash kernel. Agin flash twrp.img from recovery itself and reboot recovery. After that reboot system and you are good to go. Make sure you have enough system space before flashing supersu and kernel. frow twrp file manager delete unneeded system apps 1st. DO NOT REBOOT in between.
