I had a few play store updates today, phone was fine afterword and I didn't use any apps that I don't normally do.
Went to charge the phone using the moto turbo charger and noticed phone was off. Unplugged it and turned it on and it just keeps turning off very quickly, no shut down sequence. I let it sit off for a while and turned it on and it stayed on for a bit but then turned off again. Got home and charged it up using the charger the phone came with, turn on and was able to get into something real quick but then off again.
I don't even remember which apps updated to try and undo the updates and phone may not even stay on long enough. Any ideas on how I can try and undo the updates with the phone constantly turning off? I would like to be able to upload a few things real quick before wiping and loosing everything. I have gone into stock recovery and tried wiping cache many times but doesn't see to help.
Unlocked bootloader, rooted and completely stock rom and recovery.

Thanks, that worked perfectly. Downloaded all the files I wanted to and phone has been on for a long time while in safe mode. So it has to be an app that was updated today, now just to figure it out.

Hey all, thanks for taking your time to read and possibly help me out with my problem. Yesterday I've tried rooting my droid in order to put cyanogen mod on it later. The reason I was interested in doing that was because I felt as droid was not working to it full potential and constantly crashing apps on me (browser, games, weather, etc). A friend of mine suggested cyanogen as he himself owns it. Being that I've did plenty of CFW on PS2, psp, xbox and mp3s/ipods, I thought there shouldn't be a hassle with this.
I followed the procedures listed on cyanogen's wiki page in order to complete the rooting process. But on the step where it asked to instal .sbf file trough RSD lite and wait till it says "pass" I've ran into trouble.
During the unpacking of that file to the phone using RSD lite the phone was undergoing several reboots, and after finally finishing the reboots on my PC screen in the RSD Lite window it showed 100% complete "please reboot the phone manually". I had no idea how to do that manually as the phone just kept going on and off by itself. (also for some reason it kept saying "error" force close/wait/send notice. But I thought it was probably just the process. After trying to reboot the phone a couple of times nothing worked. I didn't receive any "pass" signs on the droid screen.
I've got a little worried about the whole process and decided to shut the phone off and during that close the RSD Lite on my computer. Doing that made no further improvements for me. The phone just kept going on and off like crazy while in USB and not turning on at all while not plugged into either USB or AC. I've decided to go to recovery mode and just reset everything to stock as I was running out of time and had to get some sleep before work next day. After reseting the cache/data files I rebooted the phone but the same things kept happening to it. Now it was asking me to reconnect with gmail account and all that intro stuff. But the phone would always end up locking up and shutting off somewhere in the process of reconnecting the account.
Fast forward to today I've read that its possible to complete reset everything to stock version trough .sbf file once again. But now the problem consists of the phone not having enough batter life. (I'm not sure what the screen is called where the process of dumping .sbf trough RSD lite starts) but that screen keeps saying battery is too low to do anything with it. And mind me it has been charge for a very long time now in the AC adapter.
Now it also appears as the problem has worsened. The phone does not start up at all in either USB or without connection. It only starts up in AC adapter but then it shuts off in 2 minutes and back on and off , on and off. Recovery mode can't be accessed in any way, at least any way known to me. The black .sbf screen can only be accessed while the phone is not connected to anything but still keeps saying the battery is too low. And I've noticed the phone getting extremely hot during AC charge. (another small detail that sometimes when the phone does turn on and goes to home screen opening up the landscape view does not increase the length of the top (pull down) bar in horizontal view.
I've tried taking out both battery and sdcard and putting them back but no luck. I'm really lost as to what I can do next in order to fix this problem.
If you need any further information please let me know and thank you again for trying to help me!
I don't really see how you managed to get a fc with rsdlite.
Did you reboot your phone (turn off) then boot into usb recovery (power on while holding up, for the droid)?

I am by no means an expert and could be just wasting your time but in the absence of expert opinions something is better than nothing right? It sounds to me like maybe you have a bad battery that as luck would have it failed during the update/rewrite. Have you tried getting into recovery with the battery pulled running straight off the ac adapter? Hopefully you made a clockwork/nandroid backup before you started?

I'm not an expert either, but having just successfully rooted my droid and installed cyanogen I feel the need to ask: did you hold up on the d-pad while RSD rebooted the phone the first time? If not then you needed to immediately restart the process.
I think you need to use a separate battery charger (meaning that charging battery without a phone) to charge the battery.
Sometimes, battery won't hold a charge when your phone is a brick.
BTW, it appears that you are having the same issue with mine.
(I can't post a URL because I am new here, but you can take a look at my article in this section, called "[S.O.S] A rare MILESTONE brick situation". )
I had the same problem (battery won't charge and phone won't start-up), I had to purchase a separate battery charger, and then flashed another SBF, to make the phone charging normal. (Although my phone is still a brick, but not a problem with battery. )
whenever my has battery died, i plugged it into the charger and every time i plugged it in recovery has opened up. However, today i plugged it in and it wouldnt charge at all and so i tried to reinstall my rom and now it wont even start up. The battery is completely dead and every time i plug it in to charge, the orange light comes on, goes away and the recovery screen shows for a second then the phone restarts and keeps on doing that. I've tried everything . Please help me out.
Thanks.
visit a local phone shop, ask them if you can borrow one of their batteries for a few minutes to fix your phone, or ask them if you can charge your own battery in their display phone, if they are not assholes they should help you out
i dont think its a battery issue though, recovery doesnt even boot up all the way it quickly flashes 2 lines then it restarts. Ill try the battery option though.
have you flashed the newest recovery?
i hadn't gotten to it yet, i was planning on doing it really soon though. The problem is that it wont even boot into anything. it will go into cwm for half a second and then turn off and then keeps on cycling.

you cant boot into fastboot?
nope, it boots straight into cwm. its really weird. I tried looking it up first but had no luck finding anything similar to my situation.
iff the battery is charged, you may possibly just have a hardware fault, I have a similar fault on my HTC HD2 where similar things happen with CWM and booting in cycles, I stick it in the freezer for 5 minutes and then pull it out and boot it, and it works then... maybe try that?
i let it stay on the charger overnight and when i woke up this morning it fixed itself. I have no idea what happened. needless to say, im going to reset everything and reinstall everything.

This is why I don't recommend anyone use the old recoveries that some ROM devs are suggesting.
Please, general public: don't install any recoveries that don't support charge mode!
If certain conditions are met, it's possible to be stuck without a way to charge the battery if you use a recovery that doesn't support battery charging (since recovery handles offmode charging on this device).
If you haven't done so already, please update to the new CWM I posted a few weeks ago that does support charge mode.
So i got this phone yesterday. Flashed twrp and AOIP. worked fine started installing apps from playstore went to bed while it finished downloading game files and what not. woke up and it was frozen on downloading. turned phone off now it wont turn back on. Tried pulling battery for 3mins put it back in and still nothing. plug charger in and still nothing. battery is fully charged. tried it in my wifes phone. Any idea whats causing it?
Well after trying odin mode and everything and nothing turns on at all even plugging it in to nothing happens at all. As well as spending time on phone with samsung the conclusion it was just a defective phone. Sent it off today and the place i ordered it from is sending me another one.
Basically when I was heading home from school, my battery was on 56%. 5 mins later, it shut down. Managed to catch a glimpse of the battery percentage and it was on 0%. So I thought to myself, maybe I need to calibrate my battery again. So while heading home, I made sure to drain my battery completely by turning the device on as many times as possible (it would turn on and immediately turn off because it has 0%). Finally at home, I fully charged the phone without turning it on. Once 100%, I turned it on and everything was fine. Battery dropped to 50% after a heavy usage (surfing YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, XDA and reddit) for about 3-4 hours. Was chatting with my friends on WhatsApp (The battery still on ~50%) and my phone shut down. Saw it on 0%. Now it's charging as we speak.
This happened when I updated to Lollipop. Not sure if it's Lollipop, my method of rooting the device or this mod that's causing it. I think it's not Lollipop. It was fine the first few days using it without any root or mods installed.
Note: The way I rooted my device is by flashing a 4.4.4 kernel with recovery, flash SuperSU, reflash 5.0 kernel. Installed dual recovery by @[NUT] and then flashing SuperSU again in the recovery.
Another issue is my phone keeps on jumping in and out of charging. Here's a video I took. It only happens when charging using a PC or Sony's wall plug that came with the phone. Other wall plug seems to work just fine.

Regarding the first part, happens to me something very similar from KK 4.4.4 and 5.0.2 LP, continuing the problem, I have tried several ways to repair it without success. It may be necessary to replace the battery.
Regarding: Another issue is my phone Keeps on jumping in and out of charging. This is usually because the original usb cable is not used or it is defective.

Well I guess I'll just have to wait when I am able to upgrade to the Z4. No point replacing the battery now.

It happens with other cables as well. When I connect it to the PC, I am able to transfer files over without problems. It's only the charging that keeps jumping in and out.

I just reflashed stock ftf and rooted the same way I did before. Didn't install the mod. We'll see if it's caused by the root method or the mod.
Why don't you make a clean install (without root) just to discard software/root issues
So a full day of testing shows that it wasn't my phone. It wasn't my root method. It probably is the audio mod. I don't have it installed and it's all fine

Mate its been 3 days I'm using the audio mod...so far its working great no battery drain.
So this happened a while ago but I ended up just getting an s8 cause I didn't have time to deal cause it was around finals and everything but now I want to get it up and running. I unlocked the bootloader with sunshine and had a custom rom (dont remember which) and when I opened it I accidentally ripped the connection to the wireless charger inside, and very shortly after that it would only display the charge logo at 1% when plugged in. Coincidence or caused by it? Cant get into recovery mode or anything. Anyone have any suggestions?

Alrgith so I am ablke to get into safe mode and my phone and once I unplug it it shuts off and is stuck at 1%. Not sure if I want to factory reset or not but if I can avoid it its nice. If you think it would fix it then I am all for it.
