I installed miui 202100 2.3.7 rom on my ropoted moto droid , now I lost all data download, upload, all browser both wifi and 3g,I also lost the ability to boot into recovery, bootloader, rom manager ( pretty much everything rom manager ), I cannot flash another rom or restore any previous nandroid backup. I have full reception on wifi, yet always " no connection. I have no idea what to do. also, there are chinese or some asian language characters all over the place. I am really frustrated with this lost data capability, I have to access my email very frequently for work when I am on the go. anyone, please help me!
If you plug your SD card in to a computer are the files for Open Recovery still there and did you take a backup before you started the upgrade?
Also sounds like you picked some asian version of MIUI which is most likely not compatible with the US Droid's hardware.
Go get a version from www.miui.us
I flashed back to stock rom using rsd and now all is good except data functionality.
I am still unable to get any data functionality. I have data included with my plan, and no connectivity between 3g/2g or even wifi. I keep getting the no connection dialog
Maybe you have to reenter the APN data.
If you have no network connection at all then maybe you have to switch the baseband to a correct one - but I have no experience with this.
I wanted to follow up with a solution to a problem I've had for a long time that I finally resolved, in case others run into a similar issue.
Original symptoms:
- Roaming would transfer no data.
- Forcing to native CDMA 3G mode would not transfer data.
- 4G WOULD work just fine.
- Phone calls worked fine in all modes.
- Signal Check would never display the band like its advertised to do (originally thought it was fault of Signal Check, but its not)
- The Mobile Data screen only had 3 options listed, 4G Settings, Network Mode & Automatic Connections. It didn't list any options regarding roaming, domestic data, International Voice, etc.
- Hands-Free Activation would never work, nor would Update Profile or Update PRL
- Phone would rarely go off of band 25 (1900mhz) to one of the other Sprint bands (26 & 41)
- Popping the sim card in and out while in 3G mode WOULD temporarily fix the 3G data problem, but if I switched to automatic (4G) and back to CDMA (3G) it would stop data transfer on 3G again.
I had wiped, re-wiped, restored from RUU, restored from stock backup several times. Also tried updating radio firmware and PRL using ADB and MSL codes. All to no avail.
Then I did the following... I'm not entirely sure which of these steps actually made the difference, but the following process resolved all the problems above:
0) Did a Titanium Backup of all my apps, and booted into Recovery and did a Nandroid Backup.
1) Booted into Bootloader and ran Factory Reset from HBOOT (Bootloader). Since I have a custom recovery all this did was launch my custom recovery (TWRP), but perhaps it makes a difference going through the Bootloader rather than booting directly into Recovery?
2) Under wipe, ran Factory Reset.
3) After this ran, I went to advanced and wiped Cache and Dalvik again, even though this is already done once from point 2.
4) My backup of my stock image is actually in two parts. So I ran the first restore, then AGAIN cleared Cache and Dalvik.
5) Then I ran part 2 of my Stock backup, and AGAIN cleared Cache and Dalvik.
6) Reboot
7) This time, for the first time ever, when the phone booted the first time it ran hands free activation and was successful, as well as PRL update. Had the phone for several months and this is the first time since the original out of the box activation that it was successful.
At this stage I noticed all the new options under Mobile Data, and tested 3G and it worked! Woo hoo. unfortunately I run a custom ROM so I wanted to put that back on. So I went back from step 1 and did all the steps again but instead of restoring stock I restored my ViperOneM8 ROM. The results were still successful, so I then updated my PRL and Firmware to the latest stuff, forced roam, tested it, forced native 3G, tested it, everything works great. Also now Signal Check correctly displays the band I'm on, which it never did before. Also, my home tower always had me on band 25 before when I looked in the Engineering screen, but after fixing this I'm now on band 26 (800mhz), which is great.
SOOO.. I think from all the things I've tried in the past, the new things that might be making the difference is either:
- Factory Reset initiated from Bootloader
- Cache & Dalvik wipe before and after any Restore.
I've installed ROMS, firmware, used ADB, used my MSL in with various resets, etc. So I figured I always knew what I was doing, but I think one of the very simple things above makes an important difference. Just not sure which step it is, but apparently the little things count.
A couple other related things that users with similar issues should try if this doesn't help:
- Make sure to Update Profile and reboot
- Start a web-chat or phone call with Sprint and ask them to force a Profile Update from their end. I've had success with issues with them initiating a profile update.
Hope this helps others!

I am very happy for you and will try the same today, what new settings did you see under mobile data?
Data roaming sound, roaming guards, roaming, domestic voice, domestic data, international voice, international data and 3 grayd out ones: allow GSM data, access point names, and available GSM networks. Probably disabled because I'm on Sprint (CDMA not GSM)
How do you get to the engineering screen?
I use signal check, and there is a shortcut in that app that launches it.
Sorry for necroposting and being a noob, but this required rooting, right? Could you walk me through it in a little more detail? How to boot into recovery, bootloader, etc.
depends on the phone. I'm only familiar with the M8

First things first, the information in this thread is NOT required to root or unlock the bootloader. There are threads with that information in the general as well as Q&A threads and even the development thread. Also, if you search the internet for HTC DEV you will find their website and they give instructions on unlocking the bootloader.
With the M8, the first step is unlocking the bootloader, then you install recovery and from there you can gain root privileges.
You can also use Sunshine to unlock the bootloader and obtain s-off which is not required to flash custom ROMs, but other firmwares and radios.
Please be aware that unlocking from the HTC dev website will wipe everything. Including pictures (and anything for that matter) stored on internal storage. Sunshine does not.

Hello Everyone...
Posting here first rather than in the "Update Failure" thread because I'm not so sure I have a "failure" with the update....just an issue after the udpate.
I have 2 cloned HTC M9 phones. I say "cloned" as they are exactly the same make, model, ROM, etc (one business, one personal phone). They have the following information if needed:
Sprint HTC M9
SuperSU Free v2.65
Custom ROM ViperOneM9 3.5.0 with no custom kernal
Android 5.1
HTC Sense 7.0
Kernal (standard) 3.10.49-perf-g26c593c

SMP PREEMPT
I updated some apps this as I normally do through Google Play. A little while afterward I was prompted to update the SU Binary. I did so on one of my phones. I hit the TWRP option (on the right side of the prompt screen), nothing happened, phone did not reset so I rebooted into recovery. The update ran automatically and the phone rebooted.
I noticed two issues (perhaps there are more). The huge problem is that I cannot make OUTGOING calls. I use a custom dialer PixelPhone Pro. I click on a contact to dial and nothing happens. I type in number to dial, hit the green "send" button to make the call, nothing happens.
I also tried the stock Phone app....same thing, cannot dial out.
I attempted to update the Profile and PRL for the phone, however, as that appears to need to make a "special call" that function is not working either
The other problem I noticed is with an app I have called Quick Settings. The app is always accessible through the pull-down notifications on the phone. Although the app is still installed and functional, it no longer appears in the pull-down notifications. I tried to reset the option to show it there (turning the option off and back on) and it will not show up despite the proper setting chosen.
I still have full root access as I tried a couple root apps (such as Titanium Pro) and have full root access.
I have been prompted on my other phone to update the SU Binary and I am concerned with doing so. Any idea why this is happening and how I can troubleshoot and fit my outgoing call issue??
THANK YOU all very much!!
Scott
Hey guys....
Anyone else have this issue or similar?? So what are my options....how do I get my phone back to being able to make calls??
Thank you for your help....

**UPDATE**
Still problems....
Right after I first updated the binary the "only" problem was that I could not make calls which I could use the other functions of the phone. I rebooted the phone and I cannot reach any function of the phone because I constantly get the message "...the process com.android.phone has stopped" obviously related to the previous problems.
I dirty-flashed the ROM...that did no help. I even tried to flash an older SuperSU version (I don't know what that would have done....I'm running on HOPE now ) and that didn't help. Re-dirty-flashed the ROM a second time. Again that didn't help.
I flashed an old backup and THAT WORKED fine. Problem is that the backup is 6 months old. I could quit and totally clean/wipe/install the ROM and start again from scratch but I reeeeeeallly don't have time for that at the moment.
Is there ANY way I can simply get my com.android.phone process back?? Why did all this happen in the first place??
ANY help is greatly appreciated!! THANK YOU!!!
I got my HTC One M7 Dual SIM (t802w) phone back from service. Before I passed to the service I wiped my phone with factory recovery menu. I would like to restore my phone status from HTC Backup as it was before sent to service. Basically looks right (SMS, WIFI, calls restored) but when "restoring application" (or similar because I am using in Hungarian language) seems that goes into a loop saying "58 of 64" and start over and over again. At the same time application installation in progress. When application installation itself was ended the "restoring application" loop still happens. I go to the Google Play and there was around nine more update. I updated all. Then got still updates even Google Play says there is no upgrades, for example fot HTC Backup application itself. The mentioned loop still displaying "58 of 64" and start from "1 of 64". When upgraded HTC Backup the loop disappeared but restoring process is finished (or canceled). Then I am not able to run manually restoring process because the system says that my already restored. That means I lost (or was not able to restore) a lot of settings for applications. My widgets settings and my homepage setup gone (or was not able to restore).
Is there any known reason for this? Any process to solve this loop and able to restore my phone? It is very frustrating that I have backup and I cannot use therefore I need to setup all my application again.
I am using the latest stock HTC firmware and my device is not rooted. I found some topic similar to this but those are because there was some version or firmware changing. I am not like that I would like to restore exactly to the same firmware as it was.
I recently rooted my H811 G4 (T-mobile) and then installed the latest Imperium ROM on it. Everything worked fine for three days. The only thing that kept popping up was an alert from Lookout, saying that the Imperium Settings app had riskware and wanted me to delete it. I just ignored the warning as I figured that it was being fussy over an app from a custom ROM. I also kept getting notifications to upgrade my version of Android but I ignored those too as I learned that with a rooted phone, it either won't work, or will unroot the phone. After 3 days, I suddenly lost connectivity to the T-Mobile network. Could still make calls and text over wifi, but nothing when the wifi was off. After going into the settings, it would say that the network was disconnected. I took the phone to T-mobile and they tested the sim card in another phone, to which it worked just fine. So that told me that something was obviously wrong with my handset. I restored the phone back to factory default and was able to make calls again. Imperium was still installed on it. So I went back into recovery and wiped the phone clean. After selecting to restart the phone in TWRP, I got stuck on the bootloader screen. So I downloaded LG Bridge and got it working again. I was going to wait till I got a notification to upgrade Android before rooting it again, but after 2 days, I never got it. Has anyone else had this happen? I thought Imperium was cool but I'm not thinking of just going with another custom ROM.
