Known CWM recovery, greatly improved with touch ui and many useful features by Phil3759.
Original Xperia T thread
Compatible with Rom Manager (reboot recovery, backup, install,...)
As the title says, this recovery has some needed modifications included, so you can use it with unmodified stock kernel (locked bootloader).
Main LB script with logging was created by cray_Doze.
My modifications are firstly based on recovery from davidmarco, then I found big help and better (PhilZ) recovery in [NUT]´s thread and that it´s better to unmount selinux fs so it cannot be redefined and checking files is probably stopped (?) in recovery, so I´ve had to use init binary that does not need selinux.
Installation:
1. Root your device
2. Install modified Flash Gordon app (no busybox installation needed)
3. Download this recovery to SDcard
4. Launch the app and allow it root access
5. Tap "select zip", find the zip, "flash now"
6. Don´t try to reboot with the app, but do regular reboot in power menu
Upgrading from 4.1 with CWM for LB to stock 4.3:
1. Download stock 4.3 rom zip to SDcard
2. Download this recovery to SDcard
3. Reboot to 4.1 CWM and flash 4.3 rom
4. Flash this recovery (optionally flash SU too)
5. Power off the device
6. Flash 4.3 ftf - tick all wipes, and exclude system from installation or you will do it all again from scratch
Or if you already have some recovery on 4.3, just flash this in recovery.
Caution:
Don´t try to flash rom zip made in the recovery. It is too big. It goes first to tmpfs, which has only around 433000kB.
System will be formated, but then can´t be extracted from zip and copied to /system. No /system = you will do it all again from scratch
Changelog:
v1.7
- proximity sensor fix (with big help of steveboss and his V)
- reboot recovery working from all applications (quick settings, rom manager, recovery, etc.)(tested on T)

You can use backup and restore, this is a working version, just don't flash an update.zip made with the recovery (there is an option for creating that). For SuperSU CWM flashable zip look at the download section of the original SuperSU topic

Keep the previously installed system with recovery in your phone.
So only don't tick system (exclude system from ftf flashing). Everything else leave ticked. It's also better to wipe data between 4.1 and 4.3.

Had this the other day trying to upgrade. If you can't get into CM, Use sony pc companion to bring it back - repair option
tested on TX 4.3 official stock system
and confirmed it works
both externel and internal storage can be used to flash
:highfive::highfive:
I found one bug (your mac address and other things are not restored after factory reset). I have it already fixed. I will upload fixed version today or tomorrow. There should be no need to do factory reset again, after installation of the fix.
First post updated with fixed import from TA after factory reset - 1.4 version.

I think theres a confusion here, in flashtool you tick to wipe data, appslog and cache but below that is the list of things to exclude from flashing so if you tick on it you will not flash that part of the rom so if you tick everything here but dont tick system, everything will be excluded but system won´t son the only thing you are flashing is the system folder and so thers no kernel you´ll have a bootloop
Oh, that looks like the reason. Sorry. I will edit the OP.

Flash back a 4.1.2 rom with Flashtool, root it, put a cwm on it and continue with 'Upgrading from 4.1 with CWM for LB to stock 4.3' section of the first post You can find everything in the All in One post in the Q&A section of this forum.
i recently asked for help in regards to rooting firmware 14.3.A.681 Model C6903 a noobs guide really since i am still new to it but some of the reply's i got were a bit confusing but all had one thing in common which was downgrade to an ftf ending in .534. The issues making me confused are
1. when i downgrade to .534 ftf i downloaded the Commercial and Generic UK unbranded versions and to my surprise my SIM Card wasn't detected i really dont know why :/
2.the next issue was reply's from some members regarding the next step which was after downgrading install xddualrecovery others also said root the .534 firmware first then install xddualrecovery and i noticed with some versions of xddualrecovery there's a 3rd option called "Install on non root" now my question here is, that option will it root and install a recovery on my phone such as CWM or TWRP and if yes why do i need a recovery am just rooting and truly do not wish to backup any data on phone or SD Card or install custom roms in future
3.the next issue was SuperSU after doing some googling on it i realized its an apk for root but i thought rooting will give me superuser access so my do i need that and why does xddualrecovery have an option of install SuperSU on rooted phone
4. the next issue is flashable ftf's or zip and stripped ftf's or zip and how is it different from regular or Stock ftf's and also why do i need to flash a flashable zip or ftf in say TWRP recovery and after powering off flash it again with the flashtool as some members suggested ?
5. the next issue is if its really required to install a recovery such as CWM or TWRP to get root access how do i unroot and get back default Stock firmware
6. what is locked and unlock bootloader ? and how do i know if mine is locked or unlocked some members made statements regarding that
all these issues especially my SIM Card not being detected made downgrade to C6903_14.2.A.0.290_Generic MY_1276-7939_R1B before my sim card started functioning and my last question is how to root 14.2.A.0.290 since it seems kitkat rooting is quite complicated and i hope rooting 14.2.A.0.290 would not require a downgrade
All answers are in Z1 Section. Read carefully, it is simply. To me look like you don't agree with the method to get root, than stay stock if you don't like it. There is no other ways.

another example a member explained how to flash a flashable zip through TWRP in detail """In TWRP -> Wipe -> advanced Wipe Tick/Check:

Data
Then 'Swipe to Right' to make it happen and go back to the TWRP home screen;
Flash 'C69XX_14.2.A.0.290.flashable.zip' in TWRP """"""" but failed to explain in detail how to flash a stripped ftf of that "Flash everything in 'C69XX_14.2.A.0.290_Stripped.ftf';" and besides when i open that stripped ftf there are so many files i dont know what to do with them or flash it

Downgrade to .534 with the FTF provided by NUT (Post ##3), then Root with Bin4ry method (Best One), Install SuperSU from Play Store, Install XZDualRecovery (you should know Now which option) and grant everything in SuperSU, recovery is needed to install Pre-Rooted Stock FTF (without it you can Dream about Rooted Android), then go to the page of you prefered Stock Android 4.3 or 4.4 and follow the instruction "How TO". You flash it just like any other FTF, do not open it.
All ftf files have multiple files in them, they are basically a zip archive. In fact the stripped FTF has LESS files in it than the big ones....

I don't know why the extension of the stripped file is in .zip. Put that stripped file in Flashtool>firmware folder and if Flashtool recognize the file then you are ready to go, if not, change the Extension of that file from .zip to .ftf and try again. Same way like the downgrade, which I assume you did.

Hi,
I'm trying to get AOSPA4+ (paranoid android 4.2) on my Sony Xperia Z1 (c6903).
I followed this guide:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714333
But when I tried to format my system to factory through TWRP, it gave some mounting errors.
Code:
Formatting cache using make_ext4fs function.
E:Unable to mount '/data'
Updating partition details...
E:Unable to mount '/data'
E:Unable to mount internal storage.
I already tried going to mounting option manually through TWRP, that didn't work. However, I peeked at the file manager and it seems that '/ ' has some folders and data, but in sdcard and external_sd, nothing's there.
Suggestions to get around the formatting issue? Did it already format when I unlocked the bootloader? I'm guessing I can't format because when I flashed boot.img it removed the OS, therefore no debug mode. Or something...(idk)
I don't know if is necessary to flash just the boot.img from the zip file to get recovery and working rom, maybe this make some issues. You can try in different way, flash back a stock FTF and wipe everything (to get rid of issues), then install TWRP from PC and flash the whole .zip Rom.
omg what did i do??

That's not a big problem, just flash the stock kernel from ftf.
It would be better if you flashed the whole ftf so you can start from a clean phone.

All I need to do is downgrade to 4.2, get root, upgrade back, then flash paranoid android's zip through flashtool? Or TWRP and copy boot.img?
You could, but here is an easier way
flash a ftf ending 534 for your phone
instal dual recovery
flash your choice of rom
(comment deleted, disregard this post)
Being unlocked makes no difference, it just means you can flash custom kernels as well

I think the OP in that rom thread is saying to install boot.img first to get Recovery, but I will try in different way, use TWRP which you probably will install from pc after you flashed stock .534 FW, when you are in recovery you are ready to go, wipe everything first then install the whole .zip files and gaps in sequnce like the OP is telling. Done, you should have the rom working on your phone.

I will try this. I did something similar to that, except I didn't format my system on recovery. This led to some error that I don't really remember, and then my whole problem came up again, no boot, boot-looping at the 3 second, w/e.
I'll try formatting first before installing, hopefully that will resolve the conflicts that I had. Thanks for your suggestion.

Dude, I'm surprised nobody but me and another guy have liked your post.
I used your guide cuz to me it was the shortest, simplest and easiest one to follow, and the fact that the firmware was flashable from recovery was a big bonus.
And by the way, if you're the guy that created the flashable package and the stripped tft, then I thank you 50 times for that. If you're the guy that uploaded those files to Mega, then I think you 100 times for that!
Either way, thank you VERY much for the best upgrade process for this latest firmware.

Dude, I'm surprised nobody but me and another guy have liked your post.
I used your guide cuz to me it was the shortest, simplest and easiest one to follow, and the fact that the firmware was flashable from recovery was a big bonus.

Thanx, I'm the guy who made the ftf and upload it to mega but kudos goes to @Nut for his dualrecovery and his guide to make update.zip for xperia handsets.
BTW, i've just made a flashable zip for people who wants a deoxeded rom for modding purposes --> link added to op
Thanks very much for uploading this! Was hoping someone would release a de-odexed version.
Can I just flash the deodexed zip or do I need to flash the original first? The deodexed zip seems a lot smaller than the original file.
Cheers.

Hello,
I need help after trying to install the rom.
I've followed your tutorial. I've installed the rom with CWM recovery without error.
I've connected the device in with the flashtool and choose the SGP312_10.5.1.A.0.283_VMo_EU4_Stripped.ftf and flash. First it failed because the driver were installing. Then I've tried again and it went without error. I've then disconnect the device and tried to power on but nothing happen. I've managed to boot in flashboot mode and choose restart to system in the flashtool, but nothing happen.
Now I'm stuck and I cannot boot in flashboot mode anymore ! like if the device was completly dead, no LED flashing or something.
What should I try now ?

Rom can be used worldwide. I'm in Aust and no issues.
Possibly work with 311 as well, I think the only difference may be the model number in build prop.

Hi,
Please provide be the Boot file which I can flash on 14.4.A.0.108 to remove the existing cwm recovery.
I think you mean to flash a stock kernel to remove recovery.
Just flash a stock FTF and exclude everything except kernel and also make sure their is nothing ticked in the wipe section.
On the other hand, if you mean how do you remove recovery when you have not unlocked the bootloader just delete the ramdisk from System/ bin using root explorer.
Thanks for the quick fix :]
Is it possible to create a ftf file which will restore the stock bootloader only, I mean the ftf file that contains only kernel.
Please let me know the files from PC companion that needs to be bundled to create the same.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Take a full FTF and delete files inside it so only these are left
http://prntscr.com/4qj7nt
But if you have a full FTF just exclude everything except the kernel and makes sure none of the wipe boxes are ticked in flashtool
This will only work if you have recovery via having it in a custom kernel. Also if you are on a non-stock based rom you will get a bootloop.
If you installed recovery via rooting or by Dual recovery this will not work as the recovery is not in the kernel, its in system/bin
Thanks for the tips.
Created one kernel file and was able to remove the cwm recovery also.
Just 1 more question, As I locked the bootloader again, is it possible to install CWM recovery without unlocking the bootloader?
I tried flashing the boot.img for the respective build using fastboot, but it failed possibly because of locked bootloader. Is there any workaround?
Yes it is. Just install the recovery for locked bootloaders
