As per name of the title feel free to discuss..
For me i will probably give it to my dad as he is waiting for so long now for my phone. Do not know if i am getting the Nexus 5 yet but i might wait till next year or something who knows...But whatever happens next my phone will go to my dad as i know he will look after it
Mine will go to my wife. She was putting the kids in the car last week and was rushing so much that she forgot the diaper bag was behind her car. Needless to say a galaxy nexus does NOT stand up well to being run over.
If I don't sell it I'll probably give it to the Misses, as she needs a phone.
I already sold mine to Best Buy for a $250 gift card, otherwise I would have put it on Swappa
Nothing, it'll stay with me until it's dead
ive already sold it a long time ago to get the htc one..now it is htc1's turn to go away 4ever
dev phone.. nexus5 for main use
Backup/development phone. I'll flash beta drivers like Firefox OS and Ubuntu Touch is now, but I'll be able to keep playing with it for more than 20 minutes before needing to flash back due to apps, calendars, etc., the stuff that I need in my daily driver.
Also: I'll use it in situations when maybe I don't want my brand new phone to be in danger. Stuff like beach days and whatnot. Whatever the case, it'll be nice to have a fall-back phone.
I'll definitely buy the Nexus 5 when it comes out. As for my Nexus 4, I'll still keep it as a backup just in case if anything bad happens to my main phone I can always have a backup. I'll do more experiment as well on it.

Nexus 4 goes to my wife and my old Galaxy Nexus she is using now goes on sale. Feeding chain must be preserved
I've only had my N4 for 2 weeks, but if the N5 is priced right my N4 will be either sold or used for a backup! :good:

I'll be doing the same.
I've been itching to try Ubuntu Touch since it was announced earlier this year, but I rely on my phone for work too much to bother with it now.
Once I upgrade I'll be able to try all the experimental things I've been wanting to test.
I'll never sell this phone, it's still a great device with good developer support and it will be for the near future.
If the new nexus does have a nano sim like has been rumored, I'll be cutting my current sim so I'll need to pick up an adapter should the need arise to switch back temporarily.

just kidding
I will keep it as a backup phone for the wife and myself.
Since I don't have the latest and greatest itch, I may wait till next September to see if Google reduces prices on the new Nexus to flush inventory.
I'm either going to give it to my Dad or a good buddy of mine who is still using the HTC G2.
Keep it, if the rumors are true I plan on using the N5 on CDMA and keeping the N4 for GSM.
If no CDMA for the N5 then I guess I will get a Moto X instead.
N4 is already passed on to the wife and I'm using a moto x while I await the goodness of Google
It will likely be my wife's choice of the n4 or moto x when the new nexus arrives... Its a blessing to have such good backup devices around. I still have a nexus one and nexus s...
Go Android!!!

I love my original Nexus 7.. but it's finally starting to fall apart. I'm a super power user and take the thing everywhere and it's just beat to hell.
So here's the question.. upgrade to a new Nexus or buy another original nexus?
Lots of complaints on the new one out there.. rattle in the camera, bad touchscreen issues, more..
If you own both.. that's the comments I'd really like to hear. What do you think of one vs the other?
Facing the same dilemma, I have an opportunity to sell my N7 and get the 2nd generation.

I'm in the same boat - my original Nexus 7 was replaced after a month or so because of a screen fault. The replacement then suffered horrendous battery drain (~70% overnight when off!) after an Android update, so it also went back to Google. I replaced it with the 2013 model, which clearly had touch screen issues straight out of the box and random freezes, so back it went too, this time to Amazon who I bought it from - I'll never again buy anything from Google!.
In the month since it went back I've been considering what to do, and in all honesty I'm looking at avoiding Nexus 7's altogether, because of the problems and also because Google's customer service is simply the absolute worst I've ever encountered.
I have a large Amazon gift certificate balance which would cover the cost of the 2013 Nexus 7, but if I *was* to buy another Nexus 7 I think I'd go for the 2012 model and hope that the KitKat upgrade didn't cause any battery issues. Also by buying from Amazon there'll be no hassle if (when?) things go wrong.

I didn't have any issue with my google tablet. I bought my first one off of someone who had used it for about 6 months and I've used it every day at work and at home. Rooted, modded and ran like a champ. I put so many miles on it that it's starting to fall apart around itself. But I've loved everything about it. For the price I haven't used anything that even comes close. (IMO)
On paper the 2013 is closer to what I'm looking for.. but man are there are lot of complaints about it online.. definitely has me a bit nervous.

Well I suppose the safest thing would be to buy the 2013 model from Amazon, and if you have problems just return it for a refund. Any touch screen problems will show up before 30 days - mine showed up during the initial set-up process!

I am sure the issues are not that wide spread, if you look closely at any electronic device the first batch is always not 100%. pick any device ull find problems. its like after software now devices are also in beta state so buy nexus 7 2013 and check if u find problem then replace and if the problem still exist then replace with some alternative. Remember the power u want is only available with nexus devices or els u cn always check galaxy tab and that will cost u more so basically wither u get the latest update with fairly powerful device with low price point or slow updates super power and less issues. choice is yours.

What an odd outlook. I've already had the Nexus 2013 which as I said was faulty straight out of the box. I am not alone in this as there are indeed *many* people having problems with it, and I won't be buying another as I'm not paying to be a beta tester.

I'm not keen on touch keyboards either, which is a slight problem with a tablet! Lol!
Are you using KitKat on your 2012 N7? I'm still tempted to buy another if KK's working ok on it. I read some reports that it broke 3G and disabled SMS apps in favour of Google's own (can't remember what it's called), but as I'd go for the WiFi only model these problems wouldn't matter to be. And besides, they're quite cheap now.

The "Nexus 6 Trash or Treasure" thread made me curious. I'm seeing so many people replying saying Treasure but yet I'm on my 2nd Nexus 6 in less than a year and it's already acting wonky. My phone acts up so much I feel like I'm "jailed" to only using stock ROMs, without xposed, unrooted. It's been probably the worst experience I've had since I switched to Android. And I know others who have had their Nexus 6 replaced by Google over half a dozen times...
So - how many times have you had your phone replaced / RMA'd by Google? Did I just happen to get a bad replacement from Google or are these phones that prone to hardware failures?
Once
Only once during warranty period as I was having battery issues: the replacement is great and still a champ and going strong over a year now.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I had it RMAed once for the common battery-bulge issue. I then had to immediately replace the replacement device because the camera was jumping around the screen. That third device had the same camera issue but I decided to live with it because I was fed up with having to pay Motorola $25 every time for an advance replacement.
I broke my screen last week and found a used, mostly-mint condition, one for $110 so now I'm on my 4th. This new one doesn't have the camera issue so that's a plus.
EDIT: I voted "2" because that's how many times I actually RMAed it. I didn't count the broken screen since that was my fault. But in retrospect I should have said 3 since I would have RMAed that third one if they didn't charge you $25 every time.
Once because the back had begun to peel slightly at the edges - in hindsight I shouldn't have bothered, but I didn't know at the time that it was simple to stick it down or replace it with another back. But Google didn't quibble - I got a replacement straight away and was never without a device.
None here, minor crack I put in the corner of the glass, but no battery or performance issues so far.

None, I have not had one issue with my Nexus 6. I've had it almost a year now.
Zero. No problems. I even soaked the phone completely in water to clean it out. No issues
One.
Purchased on day three of release(what a pain that was) through Moto. Within 3 months battery bulged.
I contacted Moto. They said they'd be happy to replace but I never sent it haha.. Shelved it instead and went back to ol' trusty DNA.
Recently pulled it out and decided it had been long enough. Bought a replacement battery and glue sticker and went to work on a DIY fix(I'm a tinkerer at heart).
Needless to say its running flawlessly. Rooted & Rom'd.. New battery is staying extremely cool compared to original.
Sorry to hear about all the trouble people are having with this device

Just wanted to see if devs are still going to be developing for this device with all the issues that are STILL happening apparently. It's such a shame because I absolutely love this phone. TEKs and OVERDRIVE roms looked real promising. I would just to keep a phone for 2 years if of developing is going to die off.
well considering a 2nd recall by samsung will most likely happen within the next few days according to t-mo. i would say the development for the n7 is done period. i got a feeling the n7 won't be back on the market after this either. samsung will probably scrap em all and move on to the s8 or even the note8 which will most likely need to be renamed as this whole thing has literally damaged the notes name.

The Note4 is my daily driver again, took back my replacement Note 7 yesterday.
It's basically got all the functionality where it really matters, the S-Pen.
The other features that were heavily marketed were of no consequence to me.
I definitely notice the difference between the two as for overall performance, but, it's not an awful experience by any stretch.
Throw your ROM of choice on the Note4 & ya got yourself a very comparable experience.

My phone before this was actually a note 4 and the only reason I went to a note 7 was because my phone was stolen. I was running abstrak rom (now discontinued). I'm probably going to see what mm roms they have for it now. Since I have to purchase another note 4, it will probably be on mm and I dont even know if it's rootable. My old note 3 and 4 were excellent phones, it just pisses me off that Samsung stops updates for older phones basically forcing you to upgrade phones. That being said, I'm sure the note 4 will never get a future update.
And, lights out.......

You guys believe a Note 7 V3 will ship with rootable firmware?
I seriously doubt it, we caught a lucky break on this one & some on V2 were left out in the cold w/a phone dead for development.
It's a nice phone without root, Package Disabler apps help a lot, along with a decent Ad Blocker, but, not enough for Round 3 on the exact same phone.
I'll check in on the next iteration, the Note 8,or whatever they'll call it.....

When Samsung has a major fiasco they recall all the product gather all the staff in the court house and destroy the product in front of them and the manager of that department is then banned from the company for life. Korean custom. Not only did the guy lose his job he disgraced his Family for generation to come. Going back to Note 7 the product is being discontinued it was announced in German newspapers today
GREAT!! *sarcasm*
My Note 5 was messing up and I got the 7 for the upgrade.
I'll have to debate this, as mine was one of the ones that wasn't a replacement or recalled. But with no rooting ability, or way to drop back a version to gain root...might have to go back to the Note 5.
I never even attempted to try the software update. I didn't like the stupid green battery icons or grouped notifications. I still have my v2 on original release firmware with updates blocked. I like the phone uprooted but I do not like the current software for it. It's a shame because I love phone otherwise, but without future root to make those small tweaks on the v3, I think I'll wait until I find something I really like. I've always been a Samsung guy that being said I'm not a real Fan of pure Google type phones. For some reason I really like touchwiz (ya I know).

You should be able to find one alot cheaper then that on eBay or Amazon etc.
I find the Nexus 6 great for my use.
I generally have a bad feeling about refurbished items. I much prefer buying used things locally, directly from the previous owner.
And as mentioned, you'll have to replace the battery at some point. Mine is still reasonable, but 3 years are a lot for a battery.

I just upgraded from Hammerhead to Shamu a few months ago. I got a refurbished Nexus 6 on eBay for $200. The device I received was in great condition and I have had zero issues with it. The specs on the Nexus 6 are still good even with newer devices being released. The developer support for Shamu is still active and progressive. I would recommend this device to anyone who knows how to properly use a good phone.

It is still a great device. I have brought my N6 back from semi retirement and haven't skipped a beat. $200 is a decent price if the phone is in MINT condition and if it is 64GB. Check for screen burn. Also look at ebay. You might get a 64GB one for $165 or so. YMMV!

Pros:
Great multimedia device
speakers
still quite speedy with the right ROM
rear camera does well in low light due to ois compared to cheaper phones
Cons:
Google's os updates are done
Developer interest is waning as everyone moves to 64bit architecture
Screen is not the best AMOLED but isn't bad either (whites are a problem)
the charging port destroys cables
Front camera is just plain horrendous (would matter if you are fan of selfish or whatever it's called )
The power button is wobbly on my refurbished unit
Rear camera has some serious noise issues
Found the dac incapable of handling my higher impedance sennheisers ( my 1+1 pumps out more volume)

The micro usb cables i've used with my nexus 6 start to loosen on the micro usb side i.e. The two pins that have spring action just get depressed and never return? I've used the same cable (identical both were part of the same package high quality steel braided yada yada yda) with my oneplus one and its still pristine. My friend with a nexus 6 also has this happening to his cables. Very minor problem charging and sync still fine. I just like to share even the little incoveniences. Probably not a very prevalent issue either.
Development of roms has definitely stalled these days thats a bigger problem.
