I don't even know how to start...
Just say, I want to try a lollipop on zr c5502.
and downloaded a fw from Xperifirm (and converted to ftf) and this tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zr/general/stock-lollipop-android-5-0-2-build-10-6-t3114391
No error both while downloading.
But, I cant install either via flashtool
Firstly, my device wont get in flashmode green led only flash less than a second before gone. But flashtool said its connected, surely I cant flash anything.
I try fastboot blue led stay there, but flashtool dont show my device was connect in fastboot mode.
Then flashtool always show Device connected in flash mode. and I don't even connect my device to pc.
I've tried reinstall flashtool
change my usb cable and port
remove sd card from my phone
remove other usb component but mouse and keyboard
reinstall all flashtool driver.
Still problem
More data I can provide.

Hi ZervZ,
First off, are you sure you have the proper usb drivers installed ?
also make sure to end any running adb connections by other software, ie: if you have bluestacks, genymotion or any other android emulator, make sure to close it completely and end the adb process using task manager (just to avoid any conflicts)
third, how do you boot in fastboot mode ?
it should be : completely turn off your device, connect the usb cable to the PC usb port (not the mobile yet), now press and keep holding the volume down key, while holding the volume down connect the micro usb to the device and continue holding the volume down key.
If this wasn't what you were doing, try it out and let me know what happend.
I'm surely a usb driver are properly installed. Every device but my phone work properly.
For flashtool drivers. Firstly, I've try installed only my device and flashmode+fastboot drivers = not working
then installed all driver that driver pack delivered = not working too. (both install with driver signing off, all green)
I'm not using or even installed any android emulator on my pc. only one program that I aware of conflict with flashtool is sony pc companion, which I'm not open it at all.
how I get in fastboot, same method as you provide but I used vol up, vol down for flashmode .(neither working with flashtool, even I've a blue led on, they still shown Ive connected in flashmode)
Now I'm try to uninstall a semc flash device driver and s1 service.
I think its a source of my problem, but problem is I can't. haha.
Might be need reinstall my windows
Edit: After I've restore my windows to the point before Ive install any drivers. Problem still persist, now its get worst, because pcc shown Ive connected sony device all the time .(same with flashtool.)

have you installed the drivers for ZR itself? when u installed Flashmode and fastboot drivers, u must have missed to tick the drivers for Lagan, Fusion3 board which are for ZR. reinstall all 3 I mentioned above and see if it works,
Also what version of flashtool are ou using? I am using 9.13 for my ZR which is recommended by the dev for first Z series phones. u may want to consider that as well

Well, yes I installed Lagan board on my my 1st try. Its wasn't work.
Then I just installed all of them, still wont work. Or even no driver installed from driver package. (only flashtool and connect my phone) that wont work too.
Same problem, but it can connected on 1st try, if I try to flash anything they will error and stay connected in flashmode again (Until I uninstalled a driver & reboot my pc)
As I said, flashtool 0.9.18 since its a latest version, might try 0.9.13 :good:
And.. I cant repair my phone via pcc too. Since they need to get in flashmode :crying:
have u tried http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/tool/flash-tool-for-xperia-devices/ ?
Bootloader is unlocked so you can not repair using PCC

May be thats the reason why flashtool always showing connected in flashmode, even though u have not connected the device
check and remove everything using adb.

Thats sounds like a driver issue, Make sure you have installed the drivers before trying to connect in flashmode.
Install pccompanion and run it then attach phone whilst it is turned on. That will install the correct drivers, then it should work

thank you Greg for reply. I have uninstalled both SUS and Pc Companion and then reinstalled SUS first but once launched I receive an error message and SUS closes.
Then I have uninstalled SUS and reinstalled Pc Companion, then connected the phone and started the upgrade procedure. Unfortunately, it stops when asks me to plug in the usb cable while pressing the volume down key, and then nothing happens... again...
On the drive page of Windows Seven, there is: "Apple Mobile Device Usb Driver: ready for use"
Tryed also on another pc but the same thing happens
what can I do to upgrade my T?
thanks

It shouldnt be an apple device.
make sure you have installed the drivers. Did you do this
1) Uninstall all sony programs (PCCompanion, SUES etc)
2) Reinstall PCCompanion
3) OPen PCCompanion
4) Turn on phone and attach to PC
5) Let the drivers install
6) Then try to update

thank you again Greg, I did it but without any result.
It asks me to keep the volume down key pushed and then connect the usb cable but once done, nothing still happens...
Should I turn off the Usb debug option?

have a nice day

No, you need USB debugging enabled and you should be in MTP mode for your connectivity in settings
Does the computer make any noise when you connect?
Does the phone do anything when you connect, like power up, or do you get a green LED light up?
Try this, and report back
Download, instal and run flash tool
Try to connect to that in flash mode. Post here what flash tool says

Hi Greg,
I have downloaded and installed Flashtool but when I try to run it i get the attached error message and of course it doesn't start. Both antivirus and firewall were disabled.
What do you mean when you say: "Then try to attach in flashmode"? Perhaps a special combination of keys during boot?
thanks

Thats a windows issue, all I can suggest is removing all sony programs, rebooting and starting again. Also, make sure you have java installed.
Or try another machine, to see if its your computer thats at fault.
Once you have flashtool installed properly and it runs properly we can continue.
Hi Greg,
finally it works!!!.
I had to change the property of flashtool.exe and set it to be compatible with Windows 2000.... that's all...
Now, once connected the phone, flashtool reports:

Instal pccompanion and update that way,
If there is no official update for you then you can flash an updated ftf in flashtool, or root and/or unlock your bootloader to flasha custom rom.
Its all in the all in the one thread, give it a good read
While You were writing, I have installed Sus but with the same bad result:
I get the attached error message, and log file reports:

Yes it is, it happens for all xperia models
Ll give you the idea
1. Install flashtool beta 5
2. Install Xperia Z flashmode and fastboot drivers from drivers folder of flashtool installation directory
3. Copy the ftf to firmwares folder
4. Don't connect the phone, now flash the ftf and wait till it prepares the files for flashing (believe me this WILL take a while)
5. Now when it asks to connect after preparing, switch off the device and connect by pressing the volume down button
6. Now it starts! Solved?
Press THANKS if I helped!

Thank you for that guide
I followed your steps but the same happens, phone disconnects from flashmode to boot normally. I even tried using a Windows 7 pc but same issue.
However, if I use SUS phone remains connected and the process runs well. If i connect with flashtool (or without any programme at all) it will disconnect after some seconds,
smash_07 install pc companion and go through the steps for doing a software repair it will install the drivers, as the drivers dont always install properly from the flashtool drivers folder even though it says there installed, once the s1 boot drivers have installed cancel the software repair and then open flashtool and go through the normal steps and you should find it'll start flashing the software for you, as I had problems like you until I did what I posted, also make sure there is no other sony apps running as that can stop the flash from starting.

Confused, it is normal that it gets disconnected after some time but it is so peculiar that it disconnects so fast! Try the solution posted by the other guy and share the solution, ll figure out another way if it fails
Ps: Before starting flashtool make sure that adb isn't running. Open task manager in windows, kill adb.exe if present and then open flashtool, follow the guide I posted earlier and when the part comes that the preparation of files is complete and when you connect your device, make sure that none of sony related apps are running (sus, pcc, emma). If they do, EXIT them first (closing them will minimise them to system tray so exit them from there). This also can be done before opening flashtool.

I did all you suggested but in the end i get always the same result, phone disconnects from flashboot shortly after connecting, eccept inside Sony Update Service or PC Companion.
I unistalled all the drivers, even Sony's apps a reinstalled PC companion to install the drivers again. I used another pc with Windows 7 32bits and I get the same behavior, disconnects from flashmode in about 30 seconds.
I'm starting to think that there's someting wrong with the phone itself, which i hope not.

Where do you see the percentage when flashing?
I made a tutorial on HOW TO FLASH STOCK ROMs WITH FLASHTOOL and I don't see the percentage. It justs tells me that flashing is complete.

The issue has changed now, the percentage was because i was not using the correct flashtool version for the the Z.
The problem now is the phone disconnecting from flashmode in about 30 secs after connecting and flashtool never gets to start flashing it,
EDIT: Changed the thread title to reflect the new issue now.

Have you installed the driver using the flashtool? Not talking about the PC companion driver?

I tried both ways, with the flashtool drivers and pc companion ones.
Am confused, 30 secs is more than enough to start the flashing process, are you saying that the flashing doesn't start in 30 secs? If so, that's why I told you not to connect the phone at start and after the preparation of files is complete and when it asks you to connect, try connecting and immediately the process should begin. Even if you have connected the device before, no probs. Flashtool don't need the phone till preparation of files is complete, so you disconnect whenever befor you want, the time where it pops a popup asking you to connect the device (shows an animation) is where you should properly conmect and leave it aside. It will and it should start immediately

Got the problem!
It was the firmware package that is corrupted. I tried using the UK .434 instead and it flashed with no problems or hickups. So the drivers and the phone were working well all along and the problem was where we less expected, in the firmware package.
I got the UK .350 firmware from here so there must be an error that has to be addressed with it.
Many thanks for your help
Glad you made it, cheers!

I found that running the 32 bit version of Flashtool solves the problem as well.
me too but my phone is TX, using flashtool 0.9.19.8
Hi all, if anyone is having trouble flashing with flash tool because usb debugging isn't enabled error then do this procedure.......
1. Dowload latest flash tool 0.9.18.8 and also version 0.6.6
2. Try use the latest version first to Flash the tft rom. NOTE: remember the file it has error flashing e.g on my experia sp file system.sin was not able to Flash bcoz usb debugging error (enable usb debugging and unknown sources) ALL THE REST of the files flashed ok!
3.try flash again the rom but this time tick system.sin (or error file) in flashtool to exclude it from flashing. Make sure all other files are included. Also tick all wipe caches options and flash rom without system.sin (or error file).
4. Flash procedure will work. Now disconnect phone and leave it off without restarting it.
5. Uninstall flashtool latest version 0.9.18.8 and install flashtool 0.6.6 old version and open it to Flash the same rom BUT THIS TIME only select the system.sin file (or error file) to be flashed and rest excluded. Make sure all wipe options in flashtool are enabled and Flash! THE FLASH WILL WORK WITHOUT USB DEBUGGING ERROR and your phone will be fixed!
Press thanks if it helped!

Hello,
I have some problems trying to flash my XZ. I'm using Xperia Flashing Tool 0.9.10.2 beta6 on Windows 8 x64 and whenever I try to flash my XZ flashing tool "gets stuck at "Device connected in flash mode" message after which it gets reconnected and if I try again same thing will happen.
So my question is, am I doing something wrong and if so, please advise.

thats better you now have a ADB device installed, you should now be able to put your phone into flashmode
power off your phone with usb diconnected, hold vol down and reconnect turned off phone to usb and you should now get green led and flashtool will say device connected in flashmode but you only have about a min in flashmode before phone reboots
Thank you for your help and effort but even now it keeps disconnecting device. I don't know where the problem is, maybe I'm not doing something as I should.
This is the procedure I was trying:
1) I select Flash device in flash tool
2) I select Flashmode mode
3) I choose which firmware to flash and click Flash so flash tool can start it's magic
4) When flash tool shows message that I can remove my device from USB and turn it off I do so
5) I also press volume down and reconnect the device with the PC.
6) Problem happens here
what about if flashtool isnt ready to flash file, does flashtool pick it up (4 and 5)
it will say device connected in flashmode with green led
Yeah, it does pick it up and displays a message "Device connected in flash mode" and after awhile "Device disconnected".

Hey chaps,
I'm having a spot of trouble with Emma, I'm afraid.
I've followed the bootloader unlocking steps, the fastboot driver is where it ought to be.
My machine is displaying the phone when in flash mode as "SOMC Flash Device". Can't uninstall the drivers, can't update them with the fastboot driver as it's shown.
As a result, (assuming I haven't missed things or mixed it all up like a twat) Emma isn't identifying my phone. I'm connecting it in flash mode of course, I'm getting nothing.
Any ideas what could be the trouble?
what are you trying to do?

Flash a sony build
why are you using emma and not the Flashtool ?
Tried that too, connected in flash mode and keep getting errors.
At this point I'm thinking it's a driver issue, but for the life of me I can't fix it.
Really unsure where to go from here.
just some thoughts
1. try to download and install ADB driver if you haven't already.
2. try connecting the phone to a different usb port [sounds incredibly stupid, but it does work sometimes].
3. [assuming you're using windows] while the phone is connected, go to the device manager, look for phone [presumably under android device or sony] and uninstall the driver.
what kind of errors are you getting using the flashtool?

3. Yeah I've done that. When it's connected in flash mode, it's detected as S1 Service (SOMC Flash Device). I'm fairly sure that's where the trouble lays, but everytime I try to uninstall the drivers to prepare installing the "correct" ones, the system hangs and I'm forced to hard reset.
Literally just says:
INFO - Checking header
INFO - Ending flash session
ERROR -
ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
INFO - Device connected in flash mode
The drivers are there in the flashtool folder. Install the flashmode and fastboot mode drivers from there and then try connecting your phone into flashmode as a trial. If you see it connects, then proceed to flash the firmware

Could you please tell which sony build you are trying to flash?
I think you are flashing a wrong rom..
Alright I'm fairly convinced I'm just a dumbass. I haven't switched roms on a phone since my S3.
So far all I've done is unlock the bootloader, following the instructions from the sony dev video.
I've got a D5833, running 23.0.1.A.1.49 build. Doesn't seem to be any further updates OTA or through PC companion.
Flashtool and drivers are installed. ADB as well.
I haven't got CWM or anything running on it thus far, and I'm suspecting that that might be the problem.

Hey guys,
long story short: I flashed my device and now my pc wont recognise the usb-connection between my phone and computer. The hardware-manager describes as if the phone cant tell the computer that it is a z3 compact.
Errormessage: Unknown USB-device (Cannot get the device description)
*something like that*
what I did to troubleshoot:
- reflash the device with firmeware: A.1.264 (without this strange script)
- reflash the device with the concept preview (without this strange script)
- installed PC Companion from Sony
- Linux cant see the phone, but can flash it
- USB-Debugging wont work as well
Nothing worked for me so far. Anyone an idea what to do?
thanks in advance

Some roms come with the usb functions disabled, removed as bloatware. So it's possible the first rom you tried didn't have the usb functions installed.
Do you have the correct drivers
Presumably flashtool can see your phone and it's still charging, so I'm sure the hardware is ok.
Did you try a repair with PC companion?
Do you have a different usb lead you can try?

Hey,
thanks for your answere. I found a "solution" to connect the phone via fastboot to the pc and with this I could do a complete reset with the PCC. When the phone is booted however I get the same error message over and over again: Cant get a device description!
Maybe you can look up the specific driver which is used in the device-manager so I can force windows to use this one?

Did you install the ADB drivers that come with flashtool? Look in the install folder for a folder called 'drivers' run the exe in there and tik the fist two and then Z3c.
Yep, all three unsigned drivers.
