I would like the latest firmware supporting 850mhz without carrier apps. I just need generic. In Australia the only ROMs are Telstra and they come with lots of apps I don't want.
Where can I find a generic I9000T ROM without branding that has 850mhz and all the rest of the latest updates?
I'm still looking for this, I don't know which ROM to get. I installed one and the phone still had Telstra apps in it.

Hey guys!
Just wanted to know if it's possible or okay to flash an Asian based SGS with European software...I was interested in checking out the beta releases with Froyo but they're only available as European firmware.
My phone was purchased from the US but it was apparently sourced from Singapore since it had Singtel stuff on it. I flashed it to generic Asian firmware and then updated it with Samsung KIES which gave me the Asian firmware upgrade (DXJG4) free from Singtel customizations (yay!)
And another question...which firmware do you guys recommend to stick with until Froyo is officially released? Like which firmware do you guys experience the least "black screens" or stalling/lag? I don't want to be installing random fixes just yet so I was hoping there's a firmware out there that has less or none of these issues.
Thanks in advance!

You can, just avoid the US/i9000M/i9008/Korean ROM's. But with XXJG1-JG5 roms on my singtel, I found the GPS didn't pick up a single sat.
I recommend XXJM5 currently.. GPS is usable (but still drifts, and doesn't respond when making sharp corners well), and everything which works on other roms seems to still work.
In regards to Froyo, don't bother. It's a fun play for a short time, but there are very few benefits, and plenty of serious disadvantages still (because JP1-JP3 still are in an early testing stage).
Also, it isn't known how service centres deals with flashing other regions firmware (and if they care enough to cancel warranty).
I also have an Asian SGS and im wondering if w/c is better JG5 or JM2.. Im still on our latest official firmware at JG4
can anyone share their experience of using european firmwares on asia models. i want to know too
I've installed a bunch of different ROM's that aren't Australian, and they're all fine, but the 3G doesn't work.
So does anyone have the code/download link for an Australian Galaxy Mini stock ROM?
from SamMobile it only 4 region
i didn't find for Australia
or you can check it for yourself
Hey, my n7000 is shows germany in region, and now its on 2.3.6. i'm from israel and like to know if i should change the region for updates? is there a international region?
b.t.w the phone is simfree
If you want OTA or updates over Kies you need to install the proper Rom for your country.
You can find here

iirc, german models were one of the fastest to get updates.
more importantly, tell us which version your device is currently running. if its already on the latest version then its pointless to waste time swapping regions and wiping your device.
its the latest for now
android 2.3.6
baseband xxlb2
kernel xxlc1

Hello, I have an S3 I9305T for my brother and I'm looking to upgrade it to 4.4.4. The I9305T does not have a 4.4.4 build so I have downloaded the New Zealand I9305 build as it is the closest country of all the options and I am wondering if this will give us any issues being that we are on Vodafone in Australia. From what I have read there is a 4G band difference between the two devices, is this okay? Also the hardware differences have not been made clear between the two devices and if they will bring any complication to using alternate ROM's from other device variants. My final question is if I will be able to downgrade from the official 4.4.4 New Zealand ROM back to the current 4.3 Vodafone Australian ROM without bricking the device and how to do this safely to prevent any cross-version errors between data, keeping in mind that this device is not rooted.
Thank you very much for your time, it is much appreciated!
i'm not sure about bands. Could be that 4G might not work out of the box but could be fixed by flashing a different modem. You cannot downgrade from 4.4 to 4.3

Thank you for your response!
So just to clarify, putting the 4G bands aside will I be okay to flash the I9305 New Zealand 4.4.4 ROM on the Australian I9305T model?
Yes, you can flash the rom
Okay, thanks a lot for that! Out of curiosity have you done this yourself or know of anyone who has? Also if I have to do this again in the future is there a way of figuring out if I'll be okay to flash the alternate devices ROM or is it based on experience?
Cheers man!
no, i have the international i9305. Winxuser (who builds unofficial CM 12.1) has the Australian model and the ROMs work for your device. Same specs etc. just different bands support for LTE
KitKat 4.4.4 goes out these Days.
CSC XSA - Australia no Carrier for I9305T
Build EOH2
I currently have a N920i from Telstra (Australia) and I was wondering if it is possible to flash the non carrier firmware onto it instead of the having the Telstra firmware? Reason being Telstra take forever with their software updates. If possible, what are the drawbacks?
you cannot change ur kernel or baseband..however u can chnge rom(custom rom like dr.ketan's rom) and that would block ota updates.. So you cannot do anything brother...
Download an official Singapore rom from sammobile. Do the one without any attached version name like singtel, if that makes sense. It will change your kernel. But not your baseband. I'm not sure if this would trip knox however. But I did flash mine to Telstra but I didn't like it because it doesn't feel right. And flashed back. As mines an international version but not from Telstra
Thanks for the feedback, I don't want to trip Knox or anything so I think I'll just leave it be. Thanks anyway guys
Flashing a pure stock rom (eg from Sammobile) through Odin will not trip Knox. I have done that several times. Make sure you only flash one for your device model - the N920i
